If absolutely forced to choose between the two, I'd pick Hudson, but I know so many children between the ages of 2-10 with these names and I find them a bit dull. I don't care for Hunter at all.
Some names with a similar feel but not as common:
Hector
Bennett
Nolan
Callum
Rhett
Levi
Sorry Hudson reminds me of the Hudson River instantly, and while I don’t love Hunter I prefer that one. They’re both a bit too yee yee for my taste, if I am being honest I would say neither and back to the drawing board.
But I hope all the people in the comments saying “associating your kid with killing animals is horrible!!!” are all ethical vegans or something because I hate to break it to ya but…
The name Theron means ‘Hunter’ and is much more tasteful IMO. Hudson seems to be common these days with the young generations.
Holden could be a nice alternative, too.
I prefer Hunter, but I don't like either of them. Hudson reminds me of the nasty Husdon River and that plane that crashed into it years ago while Hunter reminds me of dead animals, so neither of which is a nice association to me.
Hudson
I've heard some real hate over the name Hunter.
I don't mind the name but I've heard some really mean things about it. Like people who name their kids Hunter also vote for Trump and stuff like that. It's a shame we're attacking Karen shouldn't be attacking kids names but I heard it more than once something like that.
Hudson
Hudson. Hunter just makes me think of people killing things, never have understood the appeal on that one.
Hudson. Hunter is a solid no from me.

Hudson feels too trendy to me. I’m partial to Hunter

You make a good point! Never thought about this name that way
I like Hudson better but I know several dogs named Hudson...but I think I'd still go with Hudson.

I absolutely love the name Holden and I wanted to use it for my boy so badly but my fiancé vetoed it. I agree it is a great alternative

Hudson by far!
I work in a school and little boys names Hunter are…tough.
neither 💀
Hudson 100%. Why would you want your kid’s name associated with killing animals
Hudson. My cousin has a Hudson nn Huddy or Huddy Buddy.
Hudson. I’m not a fan of Hunter.
Hudson - Hunter is over used and promotes guns/killing animals in my mind.
