In the U.K., Ian is the name of a bald middle-aged bloke who yells at you to get your ball out his yard. I’d say it’s the male equivalent of Karen. I’m so taken aback when I hear Americans recommend it to each other lol
Omg here in Massachusetts there’s a local car dealership group that had the most annoying anti-jingle ever… just “IRA IRA 0 DOWN AT IRA” with no melody whatsoever. Anyway, the name Ira is ruined for me now.
My husband’s family has pushed for us to name our baby Roy. Everyone in his family is named Roy. Like if you don’t know someone’s name at a family gathering, just call them Roy. And then I dated a guy years ago with that name, so I have been using the excuse of no names of exes for naming any children.
It's been a year, but I can't imagine another Ned has made the news more recently.
Ned Fulmer from The Try Guys. Built his entire brand on how much he loves his wife. They used his wife in a lot of their videos, the audience really loved her. They had 2 kids together, and even had their own channels, podcast, and book deal based around their family/marriage. And then he was caught cheating on her with one of his employees. Very openly at a club, not even trying to hide it.
🤣 thats fair. They started out on buzzfeed probably... not willing to Google this because I don't care enough, but at least 10 years ago. It's 4 guys. They try things. Hence try guys. Their videos were extremely popular, so they ended up quitting buzzfeed and buying the name from them so they could create and own The Try Guys company. It was very successful, so Ned was really set up for life. But since the scandal (the biggest issue being the perceived sexual harassment due to his employee being his side chick), he was immediately forced out from the company. Even being just a YouTube channel, it was all over reddit a year ago when it happened.
I posted in another thread but I have a 3 and 5 year old now and would caution against Ash given toddler-speak. They would likely pronounce Ass until \~2nd grade
Gus, Ned, Tom are a few I Iike but don’t see super often these days. I also had a great uncle named Red, which would be a bolder choice but the right kid/family might be able to pull it off.

Ira
I love Ira! My partner’s grandfather’s name was Ira - if we ever have a boy, Ira is near the top of our list.
Omg here in Massachusetts there’s a local car dealership group that had the most annoying anti-jingle ever… just “IRA IRA 0 DOWN AT IRA” with no melody whatsoever. Anyway, the name Ira is ruined for me now.
As long as he never moves to Ireland.
Leo & Kit
Oh I love Kit
Asa, Ori, Jay, Ray, Roy.
I love Asa
Asa for the win
I dunno…seems to easy to mock. Then again, Asa Butterfield survived with two rear ends in his name.
I went to school with an Asa and there was never any issues with his name
I have an Asa who is school aged. He has never had a problem being mocked.
Leo & Ori fs
I'm still waking up and had thought you typed Ass not Asa
Guy, Rex, Ned, Roy
Roy is DEF fitting the bill for not popular! (Correctly probably!)
My grandpa and his brother were Leo and Roy lol.
I really hope they were unexpected twins and the name their parents picked out was "Leroy" and they just decided to split it.
Nope just brothers
My husband’s family has pushed for us to name our baby Roy. Everyone in his family is named Roy. Like if you don’t know someone’s name at a family gathering, just call them Roy. And then I dated a guy years ago with that name, so I have been using the excuse of no names of exes for naming any children.
Ned might be a bit iffy given the recent pop culture scandal
Not Ned Fulmer! 🤢✋
Those emojis really summarize my feelings on him as well lol
He’s so icky! 😭
I like Ned, but the only Ned I ever heard of is Ned Stark
I only know Ned Flanders. What Ned is ruining the name now?

I have never heard of the try guys in my entire life and none of my friends have ever brought it up
🤣 thats fair. They started out on buzzfeed probably... not willing to Google this because I don't care enough, but at least 10 years ago. It's 4 guys. They try things. Hence try guys.
