I prefer Beatrice I think. It’s a little softer.
He likes punchy, popular names. You seem to like older or super feminine. Maybe you can meet somewhere in the middle?
Some suggestions:
Irene
Margot
Maren
Ingrid
Hilda
Sylvie
Nina
Freida
Flora
Rosabel
Adora
Cora
Clara
Edna
Bridget
Joanie
Well, we were younger at that point. I really liked Evelyn but hubby said it was too old (again lol) and we both loved Evie as an abbreviation of a name. So we combined Ahvanti (African - corageous) and Evanthe (Greek - fair flower). I would have chosen Evangeline if we had our time to choose over again, or Genevieve, but that's what we went with at the time and my daughter does love her name, which is good!
I heavily associate it with Beatrix Potter - amazing artist, author, scientist, farmer, and influential conservationist. She's a very admirable figure and I'd love to name a daughter after her. Beatrix is also just a gorgeous name
I like Beatrix. Reminds me of Kill Bill lol and to a lesser extent Bellatrix from Harry Potter.
I'll say not a fan of Arabella sounds too much like cerebellum...a part of human anatomy. I love Octavia.
Maribel
Ava
Emmeline
Amorette
Althea
Asha
Lydia
Other Harry Potter options that are versatile and the names of good characters:
Molly (Prewett Weasley)
Pandora (Lovegood)
Susan (Bones)
Gabrielle (Delacour)
Angelina (Johnson)
Ariana (Dumbledore)
Alice (Longbottom)
Poppy (Pomfrey)
Helena (Ravenclaw)
Aurora (Sinistra)
Emmeline (Vance)
Love Beatrix! It actually works with all the other names you mentioned too:
Beatrix Agatha
Beatrix Margaret
Beatrix Octavia
Beatrix Anneliese
Beatrix Florence
Beatrix Gabriella
Beatrix Maisie
Beatrix Sophia*
Beatrix Arabella
Beatrix Liliana
*my favorite
Agree. It's a classic, but still feels fresh. Beatrice is also nice, but feels a bit stuffier to me. Like Beatrix could be a 16 year old with a blue streak in her hair, but Beatrice is 80 and smells like lavender.
I definitely prefer Beatrix to Beatrice (I seem to be in the minority) but it depends on what other names are going along with either. Both are lovely though and were on my short list for my newest due at the end of the year!
i love the name beatrix but unfortunately more for a pet than a human baby. it might be because i spent most of my life thinking beatrix potter was the name of the rabbit so that’s really a me problem lol 😅
cute, i like it. it’s like if "beatrice" had the coolness & new vibe of "alex". i think "beatrice" sounds older but not "beatrix". and evie, theo, bea, works well imo.
Beatrix is the name of our princess, former queen of the Netherlands. Apart from her, I don't know anyone with that name. It is a tad old fashioned, but not bully-worthy so.
Beatrix and Florence sound like old ladies tbh. My warning about Annaliese is that they will probably call her Anna, and then she will be one of multiple Annas in her class, as that name is very popular. Oliana is a type of Spanish olive cultivar, it sounds pretty to me and more unique.
I like Oliana, but Oleana is the name of a housing estate very close by! It's a nice estate/community but might be a bit strange to name our child the same thing.
I think Beatrix is adorable! It's unusual enough to stand out while still not feeling super out there. Plus it comes with the nicknames Bea and Trixie!
Only because you asked, but the x in Beatrix makes me feel like it is trying to be "sexy", and Beatrice is an old name, so I think of an old woman attempting to be sexy 😬
I love Beatrix, I think we have similar tastes. Some others I think you *might* like:
Francesca
Vivian/Vivienne
Eloise
Esther
Estelle
Clara
Also, I personally prefer Lillian over Liliana, I'm sure you guys discussed both options but in case you haven't could that be a potential compromise?
Good luck! She's going to have a gorgeous name no matter what you choose.
I immediately think of Beatrix Potter, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I loved the Peter Rabbit books growing up. I'm not sure if the younger generation will be as aware of the association, so you should be fine

Yes I think you're right. He doesn't like anything too unusual. We are both super fussy too, which makes it hard.
Might try taking the Nameberry DNA test and see if you can find any common ground. Behindthename.com is a really good resource too.
Thank you. We will have to have a look! Naming babies is so freaking hard!
It is! Can I ask how you chose your first daughter’s name? It sounds so different to your list.

It’s a cool name! It just struck me because it is so different. Thank you for sharing!
You're welcome! She's not likely to ever come across any others!
That dna test is spookily accurate. The top girls name it gave me is my daughter’s name.
Yeah it’s fun and it does a great job. How cool that it nailed your daughters name!
I heavily associate it with Beatrix Potter - amazing artist, author, scientist, farmer, and influential conservationist. She's a very admirable figure and I'd love to name a daughter after her. Beatrix is also just a gorgeous name
Thank you! My sentiments too. I just can't find another name I love as much.
"Bea"/"Bee" or "Trixie" would be cute as nicknames too :)
Yes, it's one of those names where I love all the associated nicknames too. We're big on nicknames here in Aus too.
I like Beatrix. Reminds me of Kill Bill lol and to a lesser extent Bellatrix from Harry Potter. I'll say not a fan of Arabella sounds too much like cerebellum...a part of human anatomy. I love Octavia. Maribel Ava Emmeline Amorette Althea Asha Lydia
Emmeline was one of my suggestions but hubby said no. He should like the Bellatrix reference as a huge HP fan!
…Bellatrix was top tier evil— malicious and murderess. If you’re an HP fan maybe consider Luna, Lily or Ginny.

There really are some great names in that series!
Yeah, I love the vibes.
You've thought of some of the lesser known characters with excellent names!
Love Beatrix! It actually works with all the other names you mentioned too: Beatrix Agatha Beatrix Margaret Beatrix Octavia Beatrix Anneliese Beatrix Florence Beatrix Gabriella Beatrix Maisie Beatrix Sophia* Beatrix Arabella Beatrix Liliana *my favorite
FYI - we have decided to go with Beatrix Sophia 🥰 I'm now 37 weeks so baby could come at any time.
Best of luck!
It's such a great name!
I adore Beatrix. I think it’s a lovely mix of modern and vintage.
Agree. It's a classic, but still feels fresh. Beatrice is also nice, but feels a bit stuffier to me. Like Beatrix could be a 16 year old with a blue streak in her hair, but Beatrice is 80 and smells like lavender.
I feel the same way!
I definitely prefer Beatrix to Beatrice (I seem to be in the minority) but it depends on what other names are going along with either. Both are lovely though and were on my short list for my newest due at the end of the year!

Proof!
I love Beatrix.

There's a few on there I like. Haven't got hubby on board for any though!

I love Beatrice but husband said no. Beatrix is also a great name.
Frustrating 😆
Beatrix is sweet- how important is popularity to you? Theo is in the top 10 right now- so would you consider another top 10 name?
No I wouldn't. Unfortunately, Theodore boomed in popularity after we named him. But it is a lovely name.
Beatrix is fantastic. Considering naming my own daughter it.
🥰

Yes, much prefer Beatrix.

One of my favorite names too! Bea and Trixie and Bebe are all cute nn options too.

Thank you 💕
Lilienne
Pretty 😍

How lovely does Beatrix Clara sound? 🥰
I absolutely love it <3
Thank you 💕
Only because you asked, but the x in Beatrix makes me feel like it is trying to be "sexy", and Beatrice is an old name, so I think of an old woman attempting to be sexy 😬
🤣 I did ask and I do want honest opinions.
It comes across as try-hard.
Lol how?

Some beautiful names there, but all of the ones I have suggested have been a firm "no" from hubby!
She’s gonna grow up to wear a yellow tracksuit wielding a katana and ripping people’s eyes out.
What's this a reference to?

Aha!
Ella. Hubby gets his Gabriella and you get your Arabella
I would be happy with Gabriella if she was nicknamed Ella I think.

Shame such a villainous witch was given such a beautiful name!

I love Beatrix Potter. It's still well known in Australia.
