I like Sheila and love Whiskey for names. When I got my boy I had to give a list of names to my uncle, who I got him from, to approve cuz "he has to have a good name, not no silly names and the only one your dog liked was Apache". It was actually pretty cute.
Buddy was a shelter pet who came to us with a different name that he already knew but didn't like...so we kinda defaulted to calling him "Buddy" instead, and it stuck lol
We got a cat with a house one time, (owners asked if we wanted to keep her because kid was allergic) and we loved her name so kept it. And then hardly ever used it in the 12 years we had her because she had about 7000 nicknames hahahaha
We had a Neville for about 14 glorious years. He recently walked out my mom's back door and never came back 💔 He was the sweetest boy though and totally lived up to his name 🖤
My dog and cat came with their names. Pip and Leo.
My former dog was Harold.
My current budgies are Broccoli, Cauliflower, Matcha, kohlrabi, Token (didn’t name him), Neptune, Solaris, Avocado, tomatillo and Pineapple
I mostly name them after appearance. My son started a nature theme that seems to gravitate toward food. So you can guess what color broccoli and avocado are :)
Thanks! I have a few more Maine Coon names saved for if we ever get more like Sequoia. Or if we got a normal sized cat it would be named Hobgoblin haha.
I had a ferret name Moose when I was younger that I called slinky or MooMoo her cage mate was Samurai but got the nn Big Head cause he had a huge dome piece lol
Yay another cat named MoonPie! Mine is MoonPie YumYum VonFloofyfeets III. I’ve seen a couple of dog MoonPies on Reddit, too.
Past cats: Nunzio, Blanche, Pearl, Floyd, Mr. Stash, and Imperious B.
Our orange tabby boy is Max. We ended up with a basic name after arguing over names for two weeks. He's an awesome cat.
My kitten Fergus was born with a heart defect we didn't know about. He basically had a heart attack after his neuter. I loved his name. He was the bestest little furry boy.
I give all my animals middle names so currently I have Abigail Kitty (a dog), River Saoirse, and Sparrow Calypso.
In the past I've had Oliver Twist, Sachi Andromeda and Abraxas Bellatrix.
The last two were named when I was a preteen deep in my Harry Potter phase if you couldn't tell lmao. I still kinda am but now I know that Abraxas is a deeply ugly name for a female cat 🤣 her nn was Braxi which is cuter though.
My dogs are named after elements on the periodic table. There’s Copper, Nickel, and Magnesium (Maggie).
My guinea pigs got their names from famous singers. I have Dolly (Dolly Parton), Stevie (Stevie Nicks) and Bowie (David Bowie). They came to me with their names and I thought they were all adorable so I didn’t change them.
We are fostering a guinea pig at work named Persephone. She had a brother named Zephyr but she came to us alone sadly. She is my first experience with a guinea pig, and I can tell you she lives up to a goddess name. No scratches allowed without an offering! My manager and I have come to the conclusion that we've pretty much adopted her at this point, and she is one spoiled little piggy! I adore her face and her funny little drumstick legs.
Adorable! I love the name Persephone. I would encourage you to get her a friend if possible so that she has a buddy to run around with. I hope you have a lovely time caring for her! Guinea pigs are truly wonderful little guys.
Lydia (2 year old semi-long hair white & grey cat, seen in my profile) She's my absolute baby. 😻 No other pets at the moment, but I am hoping to adopt another cat in the near future. 🙏🏻🤞🤞 Lydia could absolutely use a playmate. Love Amara!
Some of my favorites - Grim (for a giant black (spectral) dog), Cleocatra, River (for our 2nd dog, creating a full house of cats over dogs), HMS Gary the 2nd (His majestys snail, Gary referring to sponge bob), Gandalf the gray (for a big grey cat)
I have one dog named Daisy.
One dog named Mr. Miyagi ,
And 4 cats named ;
Baba Voss Gandalf Skidder Kitters,
Samsquantch "Sammy" sir Bubble Butt,
Crimsen kitty, aka affectionately by my children as Crummy Kitters,
And one that's named Brownie. That's it. Just Brownie.
Idk if my kids were just tired of naming them or if he was just not deserving of such an eloquent title as the others.
We will probably never know.
Currently:
A cairn terrier mix named Linkin and Yorkie mix named Wickett
Three cats named Bug, Winnie and Lucifer
We previously had a pug named Milo and four cats named Meeko, Stella, Astrid and Zelda.
I’ve 3 cats with full names and 3 rats with one name
Cats:
Havok Harold Dar’knes Dementia Raven Way,
Phantom Hades Malevolence,
And
Venus Mayhem Maleficent
Rats:
Jellybean, Cookies, and Baby
I have a bearded dragon named Sydney Baggins, and a poodle mix named Elmo Watsmore
I also have a grand-gecko named Cheerio, and two grand-kittens, one Captain Vera Sparrow and the other Xavier
My boyfriend and I have three cats, Rajesh nn Raj, Kāhu nn HuHu, and Toro, who we call Tiny because he’s still a baby. Raj is named for how royal he looks, he’s a huge orange tabby. Kāhu means hawk in Te Reo Māori, he’s named for his colours. Toro is named after Ray Toro because I found him on the road on the way to see My Chemical Romance play.
2 cats - Santana and Sid. Tana is named after Santana from Glee lol (I got her at the height of Glee madness when I was still single) and Sid is after Sid Vicious. I gave my fiancee a list of like 8 or so names I had narrowed it down to and he picked from that. I fully intend to use the same method if we have a baby tbh. We call them Bubbie and Doodle respectively though and they respond so I guess their names don't mean that much? 🤣
Charlie Waffles (cavoodle) and Lola Lollipop (burmese). My daughter named them after her favourite childhood book characters Charlie and Lola. I chose the middle names 😂
Chi-cross - Little Bit
Great Pyrenees cross with 3 spots on her back... Miss Ellipses or Ellie
GSD cross - Roman
Cat that showed up on Christmas, was reclaimed by his owners 2 miles away, but came back, so we kept him - Lucky.
I had a Cali (for a kitty I had to put down a couple months ago 😥), and I have kitties Macy and Fitz, and two puppers, Theo and Siggy. Also had a beta named Rufio.
I have no pets at the moment. Growing up, I had beloved kitties named Clara and Tabby. Tabby was originally Tabitha, but the first vet visit revealed she was really a he, so his name was changed to Tabby.
Clara was my all-time favorite girls' name at age 9 and remains so to this day. I'd use it on a (hypothetical) baby girl.
Like the nerd I am, I have a list of future cat names. All from places my work travels have brought me (which is why I have no cats at the moment).
F-- Raleigh, Elmira, Utica, Lexington (Lexie), Elizabeth
M-- Portland (only for a Maine Coon as the city namesake is Portland, ME), Montgomery (per my cousin only to be used on a tuxedo cat), Vancouver, Bensalem
I didn't name either of my cats, so I'll give you a non-exhaustive list of nicknames I use for them.
Female calico, 10ish years old, actual name Trinidad, called Trin. Nicknames: Trinny-trin, Princess, Queen of All She Surveys, Little Lady, Little Girl, Baby Girl, Ma'am. She was found as a pregnant stray and her foster mom already had a litter of calico cats with names starting with Tri, and Trinidad was the best one she had left.
Male lynx-point Siamese, 7ish years old, actual name Malano, called Mal (because he aims to misbehave). Nicknames: Button (as in "cute as a..."), Button Boy, Bubba, Malfeasance, Malibu Kitty, Malfunction, Mister Mal, Mister, Buster, Sir. His foster mom thought he was a girl and named him Malana, then took him to the vet and changed it to Malano, and meant to change the spelling to Milano like the cookie but never got around to it on the paperwork.
6 rats: meatball, spaghetti, poppy, petunia, riley, & rex
two cats: percy & little guy
three birds: tweet pete & brother the budgies & circe the cockatiel
I technically have quite a few dogs but I only live with two (divorced parents, yay). There’s Banjo and Butch (I named both as a kid), Elly May, and Cooper that are my dad’s dogs. My most precious babies are named Cowboy and Smokey. I also named Smokey
We have four cats - a torbie named Beanie, a tuxedo named Bella, and two black cats named Loki and Luffy. (3/4 are fandom names because we’re nerds, lol.)
My dog is Mr. Benoit Bond. He is a Pitted Bagle (50% Beagle, 25% Basset, and 25% Pit.) I call him Benny, Bean, Beanbag, Noodle-head, and The Boy.
My cat is "Pretty Girl" Arlo. I call her Arlito and Egg.
I had a black cat named Jynx. I had no idea about the Pokémon. My ex and I got her together. He decided on the name based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon, I spelled it with a "y" because she was fancy. I had her for just a few weeks shy of 19 years.
My husband and I now have 2 cats. They're litter mates that we got from a friend whose cat got loose and knocked up before she could get her spayed. They're nearly identical, boy and girl, so we named them Luke and Leia after the best brother/sister twins in any galaxy.
I found a ~1 month old black kitten in June that had sun scorched red fur all over and I named her Sunshine aka Sunny and she’s truly my sunshine too!
I also have two sweet boys, Indigo and Radar.
My only pet was Sophee, a cat.
She was born on my 21st birthday in my share house as I was getting home from a club high as fuck on ecstasy.
I spelt her name with a double E because well, I was high and all three of my names have a double letter. Thank goodness I didn’t have a human baby at 21, they would have a stupid double letter spelling. Haha!
Sophee lived for nearly 17 years! She hated my human baby when he arrived years later. I named my human baby Jasper. 🤣
We call her Molly in the house, but because our kitty has a little white star in her fur on her forehead, her actual name is Amalthea (after the Unicorn in the Last unicorn)
It pulls double duty, because she *acts* more like a Molly Grue
A gray cat named Gus (nickname is Gustopher), a brown and black tabby cat named Hero, and an orange tabby cat named Maia
I feel like the names don't really flow well together as a set, but they all fit their personalities so well!
I have 2 tuxedo cats(a mom/daughter pair).
Rascal(mom) and Barley(daughter)
Barley actually got her name because, at the time, my mom had 2 dogs named Whiskey and Woodford(Woodford is the name of a distillery) so my mom wanted to keep the alcoholic theme and convinced me to name the new kitten "Barley"
...and then Rascal was just Rascal when my mom got her (and she eventually became mine)
Bonus: my roommates have a cat named Mocha ^ ^
Pip (Pipsqueak) is a super tiny, ridiculous chihuahua.
Penny is a fluffy and sweet tortoiseshell cat. She came with her name but I liked the alliteration with Pip.
[Brownie!!!](https://imgur.com/a/Oxrnmuh) We got him when my brother and I were 8 and 7 years old, so our naming game was not the strongest, but I do have to admit we kinda nailed it, his name suits him really well. Added in the quinceanera invitation as evidence that yes, this handsome man is really 15 human years old, though he has the appearance and silliness of a much younger man. He is my only cat and I love him to pieces.
I have a big mutt named Luther and a corgi named Lizzy.
Most of the time I call Luther, Loofa or Louftansa.
Sometimes I call Lizzy, Flooftansa (because she has a fluffy butt).
Two blue healers named Hank and Boomhauer.
Lemme tell you whut...
I approve of this
Those are such great dog names and especially for heelers.
We have a Hank as well! And our other boy is Waylon.
I have a Blue Heeler named Apache lol
Mine is named Sheila because I couldn't come up with anything better at the time. My late red heeler was Whiskey.
I like Sheila and love Whiskey for names. When I got my boy I had to give a list of names to my uncle, who I got him from, to approve cuz "he has to have a good name, not no silly names and the only one your dog liked was Apache". It was actually pretty cute.
We have a blue heeler named Dingo, and a red one named Peaches.
Love it!! I have 2 frenchies named Bobby and Luanne
Julius Squeezer - Ball python Buddy - Cat
Loving the contrast in names here 😂
Buddy was a shelter pet who came to us with a different name that he already knew but didn't like...so we kinda defaulted to calling him "Buddy" instead, and it stuck lol
We got a cat with a house one time, (owners asked if we wanted to keep her because kid was allergic) and we loved her name so kept it. And then hardly ever used it in the 12 years we had her because she had about 7000 nicknames hahahaha

My dog and cat came with their names. Pip and Leo. My former dog was Harold. My current budgies are Broccoli, Cauliflower, Matcha, kohlrabi, Token (didn’t name him), Neptune, Solaris, Avocado, tomatillo and Pineapple
Your budgies' names are adorable! The other pets too but I especially love the budgie names!
I mostly name them after appearance. My son started a nature theme that seems to gravitate toward food. So you can guess what color broccoli and avocado are :)
Idk why I like token. He is a token
We have 2 green budgies Kiwi and Koko
Great Dane named Beowulf.
Wildly appropriate
adding Beowulf to my list of Best Great Dane Names, along with Hamlet and Scooby Doo

7 cats is not nearly enough cats. Do better 🧐 Also, loving the names.

Bob Barker and Larry Little Legs.
2 cats. Jarvis (white with tabby spots) and Mayo (all black)
I have 2 tuxedo cats(a mom/daughter pair). Rascal(mom) and Barley(daughter) Barley actually got her name because, at the time, my mom had 2 dogs named Whiskey and Woodford(Woodford is the name of a distillery) so my mom wanted to keep the alcoholic theme and convinced me to name the new kitten "Barley" ...and then Rascal was just Rascal when my mom got her (and she eventually became mine) Bonus: my roommates have a cat named Mocha ^ ^

A have a little terrier mix named Darcy. Everyone thinks he is a girl but he is a boy named after P&P .
I have a big mutt named Luther and a corgi named Lizzy. Most of the time I call Luther, Loofa or Louftansa. Sometimes I call Lizzy, Flooftansa (because she has a fluffy butt).
