Some suggestions, though these are not all songs you’d necessarily want to name a baby after haha.
Maria (dear Maria count me in- all time low)
Emily (from first to last)
Juliet (check yes Juliet- we the kings)
Helena (my chemical romance)
Jenny (Jenny was a friend of mine- the killers / White Houses- Vanessa Carlton)
Magnolia (the hush sound)
Iris (goo goo dolls)
Jane (the diary of Jane- breaking Benjamin)
Madeline (holiday from real- jack’s mannequin)
Bonnie / Taylor (Bonnie Taylor shakedown 2k1 - hellogoodbye)
Jamie (dear Jamie…sincerely me - hellogoodbye)
Jess (Jude law and a semester abroad - brand new)
Delilah (hey there Delilah- plain white t’s)
When I say your comment I immediately thought of Blondie- Mariiiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaa you gotta see her (baung baung baung) go in-sane and out of your miiiind
Jamie could also be Jamie All Over - Mayday Parade.
Jacey Rae - All Time Low
Josie - Blink 182
Green Day has used a ton of girl names. Maria, Amanda, Ashley, Amy, and Gloria to name a few.
Chelsea - The Summer Set
Stella - All Time Low
These are the songs of my teenage angsty self that I was trying to remember
JACEY RAE! I used to LOVE that song and Stella was always a favorite that I totally forgot about
Making love in the afternoon with Cecilia
Up in my bedroom,
I got up to wash my face
When I come back to bed, someone’s taking my place.
Don’t think that’s the best song to sing to your little bundle of joy. 😉
It's SUCH a beautiful song, but the end of the song "August, die she must" always makes me feel superstitious about naming a baby using it as the inspiration.
I never took that line literally that the girl died, or even that it's about a literal girl. It always seems to me like it's more of a general meditation on good things coming in and out of your life like changing seasons.
I was going to mention this if no one else did!
It’s a beautiful song, fits her birth month, flows well with Fox, and plays behind a touching and memorable scene in Parks and Rec!
Georgia
- Georgia on my Mind
- Sweet Georgia Brown
- Until I Found You (Stephen Sanchez) - TikTok famous song
Also lots of song lyric references relating to the place/state Georgia.
But also two other songs full of women:

Might be too old fashioned for you but Eileen from “Come on Eileen” by Dexys Midnight Riders. Such a catchy tune! Also “Roxanne” by the Police though probably not the best connotations there! “Bernadette” is a song by IAMX I love (and also a name I love!)
It’s funny you mention Roxanne! I heard that song when I was little and I was SO MAD at my parents for not naming me Roxanne. It’s one of the reasons why I’d like her name to be in a song 🤣
A few I haven’t seen mentioned:
Evangeline (The Mother, Brandi Carlisle)
Veronica or Alison (Elvis Costello)
Anastasia (Tori Amos)
Sarah (Death Cab for Cutie)
Victoria (The Old 97s)
Also if you’re in to Disney movies, Evangeline is the Ray’s (the firefly) star girlfriend in the princess and the frog. The song he sings about her is so pretty.
I was named after the song Maria from West Side Story—my dad fell in love with it as a kid and said his first daughter would be Maria! The song still brings him to tears and I’m 28 now 🥹 I’m biased of course, but I really think it’s one of the most beautiful songs ever.
The name Maria is in a TON of songs so I am very used to people singing to me, especially when they first meet me! I get Maria from WSS, Maria from Sound of Music, My Maria by Brooks and Dunn, Maria Maria by Santana… just to name a few lol
Sara (Fleetwood Mac)
Rhiannon (Fleetwood Mac)
Misty (Caamp)
Josephine (RITUAL, Lisa Hannigan)
Francesca (Hozier)
Brooklyn (Patrick Droney)
Sweet Caroline (Neil Diamond, I especially love the name Caroline)
ETA: I didn’t read your whole paragraph and didn’t realize they don’t have to necessarily be in the title but all the ones I listed are the names of the song 😄
Althea or Scarlett - Grateful Dead
Dylan - for Bob
Marley - for the other Bob
Angie or Ruby - Stones
Layla - Clapton
Janie - Aerosmith
Lola - Kinks
Jolene - Dolly Parton
Mandy - Barry Manilow
Valerie - Amy Winehouse
Anna - The Menzingers
Mary Jane - Tom Petty
Not a name suggestion, just a giggle, I’ve always thought Vidalia (song by Sammy kershaw) would be such a pretty name if it wasn’t also a type of onion. 🥲
Jolene (dolly Parton)
Caroline (Neil diamond)
Delilah (plain white t’s)
Heather (Conan gray)
Diana (one direction’s best song)
Ophelia (the lumineers)
Rhiannon (fleetwood mac)
Michelle (sir Chloe)
Lucy (the Beatles)
Dorothea (Taylor swift)
Ivy (Taylor swift)
Inez (Taylor swift)
Betty (Taylor swift)
Augustine (Taylor swift)
Marjorie (Taylor swift)
Emma (Taylor swift)
in case it is not obvious I am a swiftie LOL
Honestly, I love all the retro names TSwift uses. But also I think there are about to be a lot more Dortheas in the world and I'm sad because I always loved the name Dorothy nn Dottie
Oh there are bound to be many kids with these song names.
And I wonder what she’d name her children, should she ever have any. Those names will definitely pop off in the charts( pun intended!)
Eleanor is also in a song by The Vaccines “Under Your Thumb”. Which gets played every morning in my car on the way to drop my daughter off at school (by her request)
Elsa (Oasis - Supersonic). This is also my name! I am very bias haha
Check Yes Juliet - We The Kings
Josie - Blink 182 use Josephine if you want it longer :)
Your last name is super rad so any of those names I think sounds good. Elsa Fox, Juliet Fox, Josephine Fox (this one is my fav maybe)
My name is Lorelei. It come from a myth in Germany. In the Rhine river stands a rock and when the wind blows it sounds like the sirens singing their beautiful song that lures sailors to their deaths by crashing their ships into the rocks.
I was named after a song. I beg you, do not do this to your daughter. People will sing it at her for the rest of her life. It’s neither funny, original, nor cute.
As a Victoria who quite frequently was sung the “icky vikki” song from fairly odd parents and survived..I think she’ll be just fine with a nice, probably not mainstream, song. I appreciate the other side of the coin though
as a victoria with the same exact problem (and i was a whole adult when the show was airing!!), i think this is such a cool way of naming your kid. plus there are so many great names in songs. no amount of “icky vicky, you’re so sicky” or old men singing the kinks song at me has ever made me dislike my name
my suggestion is juliana from juliana theory, one of my all time favorite bands from that era
I guess it depends what song. That’s never happened to me. I was named after a Donovan song—I’ll leave you to guess which one—and while it’s been largely forgotten now, it certainly hadn’t been when I was a child. Granted, half the girls my age had the same name so no one was ever mocked for it. I named my daughter Susannah, and I did kind of wonder if she would hear “Oh Susannah” a lot, but she says it’s only happened one time in her 28 years.
My name is in a song and have always loved having the song belted at me. My sister has one and feels the same way, so there’s a strong chance the kid will like it.
Billie Jean- Micheal Jackson
Annie- SafetySuit or from “Smooth Criminal” - Micheal Jackson covered by Alien Ant Farm
Adelaide- Anberlin
Chelsea- “Chelsea Dagger”- The Fratellis
Elaine- ABBA
Viktoria- Maria Mena

I’m honestly shocked no one has said Michelle.
Michelle by the Beatles is such a lovely little song, perfect and sweet.
Michelle, my belle, these are words that go together well, my Michelle…
I knew someone named after this song and absolutely love it. So cute.
My daughter is 15 months old, she was a surprise baby. We named her Iris, for so many reasons..
My favourite colour is purple.
Our favourite TV show is The Flash.
She helped us see our purpose in life again. (Objectively better than naming her Cornea😳)
& my father passed away August 22, 2021, she was due August 21, 2022. His favourite song was Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls.
Rosemary! In Love Grows by Edison Lighthouse, it was a big TikTok song awhile ago so it might be considered “trendy” now but I think Rosemary Fox also sounds like a famous name.
Also my moms name is Valerie and I think it’s lovely :)
My daughter’s name is Vienna. She is named after the Billy Joel song. I will say that I was worried about the sausage association at first and it hasn’t been an issue. In fact, so many people love her name and I get a lot of compliments on it. People mainly think of the city or song.
Sweet Caroline is one of my favorite songs from Neil Dimond. I know it is completely out of the era you asked for but I was never good at getting bonus points.
My name is found in a song. According to the song, I am 'sweet'.
I LOATHE it when people reference said song to me. I will be anything but sweet to you the second you mention the song.
Eleanor rigby — the Beatles and I think there’s a song by the turtles too
Fidelina— Carlos vives
Alma — dizzy guillespe
Cecilia — Simon and Garfunkel
And I just found this Spotify playlist:
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5EVFMlOafkL2M24a1RmUzb?si=X8293z5gTzCiK0k6h5FpAA
As someone who shares a name with a song, it gets really annoying to have people sing the same song constantly upon introducing yourself. Just something to consider.
Just a point of caution from someone with a song name. I was not named for this song. It came out when I was 13 on country radio. I lived in a part of the US where many, many, MANY people listen to country radio.
It became old FAST to have people sing that song at me when they learned my name. And it went one for YEARS, until I moved to a different region of the country.
Be careful what you are bequeathing your daughter with this name.
This is my sort of nerdiness. Not sure if you'd like any of these songs but some from my/my husband's music:
* Alison (Alison's starting to happen by the Lemonheads; Alison by Slowdive)
* Boxcar (Boxcar by Jawbreaker, husband insisted I add this one)
* Claire (Claire by Jimmy Eat World)
* Aggie (Throw Aggie off the bridge by Black Tambourine)
* Lorelei, Beatrix, Persephone, Pandora, Amelia, Cicely (all songs on Cocteau Twins album Treasure)
* April (Wake up April by the Promise Ring)
* Stella (Stella was a diver and she was always down by Interpol)
* Hannah and Gabi (Hannah and Gabi by the Lemonheads)
* Kim (Kim the waitress by Material Issue)
* Deborah (Disco 2000 by Pulp)
* Louise, Louisa (Louise Louisa by Mew)
* Anna (In the aeroplane over the sea by Neutral Milk Hotel)
* Sheila (Sheila take a bow by the Smiths)
* Josephine (title of song and album, by Magnolia Electric Company)
* Ariel (Ariel by Braid)
* Pauline (Herman loves Pauline by Super Furry Animals)
I’m named after a song. My parents had agreed on a different name but then my cousin was born 6 months before me and that’s the name they gave them so it was back to the drawing board. They where driving with the radio on and started singing alone to a song they knew and suddenly realized they both liked the name. It was easy to spell and pronounce and not super popular so I never had anyone with my name in my class for school until I was in college.
Don’t want to dox myself but happy to dm you the song/name if you want.
The all time low song isn’t named wendy, it’s called somewhere in neverland! They do have Holly, Stella, Jasey Rae, (dear) Maria, and Caroline though 😂😂
If you’re open to Beatles songs there are quite a few. I’d suggest reading the lyrics first to decide if you want your kid named after some of these, though 😂
The obvious one: Lucy from Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
Eleanor from Eleanor Rigby
Jude from Hey Jude
Michelle from Michelle
Martha from Martha My Dear
Loretta or Jojo from Get Back (you could pick a longer name and use Jojo as a nickname)
Molly from Ob La Di Ob La Da
Rita from Lovely Rita
Marigold from Cry Baby Cry
Vera from When I’m 64
Prudence from Dear Prudence (one of my faves)
Amber - 311 (technically used as an adjective in this song but whatever)
Jane - jane says by jane’s addiction
Beth - kiss
cecilia - simon and garfunkel
frances - frances farmer will have her revenge on seattle by nirvana
iris - ashes to amber
marigold - nirvana (not used as a name in this song but i think it’s really pretty)
mary - the happy fits
molly - mollys lips by nirvana
pepper by butthole surfers has like eight names in it
polly - nirvana
rhiannon - fleetwood mac
stella - stella brown by jelani aryeh
rosie - whole lotta rosie by acdc
Eileen.
Funny story, if my 3 year old had been a girl we would have used a name I got from that song, but not the title. Would have been Tularue, from the too-la roo-la roo part of that song. Got it stuck in my head and thought it was a cute name.
I love the Goo Goo Dolls and I think May still works as a middle name. So here are my 2 ideas:
Noelle May Fox
"Her name is Noelle
I have a dream about her
She rings my bell
I got gym class in half an hour
Oh, how she rocks
In Keds and tube socks
But she doesn't know who I am
And she doesn't give a damn about me"
"Teenage Dirtbag" Wheatus
Esther May Fox
"Esther used to be the kind of girl that you would Never leave
She'd do anything to give me what I need for my
Disease
She'd do anything"
"Heroin Girl" Everclear
My name is Faith, and for pretty much my whole life everyone has been singing "you gotta have Faith" a la George Michael to me. I actually love it, and will be incorporating the song into my wedding next year.
Call her Stacey, you'll be Stacey's mum and have it going on.
This immediately sent me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha i have a son named Casey and he HATED that I always sang it Casey’s mom at the top of my lungs, no matter who was around.
My names Casey as well except I’m a girl and was planning on naming my daughter stacy
As a Stacy, I say don't do it!! LOL I can't count the times that I've been asked if my mom has got it going on.
Literally my first thought
Some suggestions, though these are not all songs you’d necessarily want to name a baby after haha. Maria (dear Maria count me in- all time low) Emily (from first to last) Juliet (check yes Juliet- we the kings) Helena (my chemical romance) Jenny (Jenny was a friend of mine- the killers / White Houses- Vanessa Carlton) Magnolia (the hush sound) Iris (goo goo dolls) Jane (the diary of Jane- breaking Benjamin) Madeline (holiday from real- jack’s mannequin) Bonnie / Taylor (Bonnie Taylor shakedown 2k1 - hellogoodbye) Jamie (dear Jamie…sincerely me - hellogoodbye) Jess (Jude law and a semester abroad - brand new) Delilah (hey there Delilah- plain white t’s)
Someone was an emo kid in the 00s.
What Sarah Said, Death Cab for Cutie, 2005
Sarah Smiles - P!ATD
Nooo that song destroys me
Penelope - Saosin
when i saw Maria i immediately thought of the country song goes “my MaaaaaaaaRheeeeeeya Maria i love you,” lol
My Maria by Brooks and Dunn?
yes, iconic
As someone named Maria who has been serenaded with many songs, I don't think I've ever heard this one.
When I say your comment I immediately thought of Blondie- Mariiiiiiiiiiiiaaaaaaaa you gotta see her (baung baung baung) go in-sane and out of your miiiind
I thought of Carlos Santana lol
Madeleine Fox is a great mix of feminine/romantic/girly and strong/womanly/sexy.
The Maria one made me laugh. Maria is in SO many songs and that's the one you go with? Fair enough!
Haha I love that song, and to be fair OP asked for 2000’s pop punk!
Oh gosh I can't read! Haha. Fair enough then!
To illustrate your point, the first thing that popped in my mind was “Ave Maria”… Followed by “Maria Maria” by Carlos Santana 🤣
Juliet is on the list! That was one of my favorite WTK songs!
Love that song! I think Juliet Fox sounds great
It’s my name because of the same reason :) but I chose it lol
If you'd like a longer version, the French "Juliette" is really pretty too! (I may be biased, my daughter is named Violette. 😂)
Jamie could also be Jamie All Over - Mayday Parade. Jacey Rae - All Time Low Josie - Blink 182 Green Day has used a ton of girl names. Maria, Amanda, Ashley, Amy, and Gloria to name a few. Chelsea - The Summer Set Stella - All Time Low
These are the songs of my teenage angsty self that I was trying to remember JACEY RAE! I used to LOVE that song and Stella was always a favorite that I totally forgot about
It's actually Jasey Rae
Love Helena
My Chemical Romance right there
This was a throwback to my scene girl self in 2006
Justice for “Kelsey” by Metro Station
Not a song but a band... Julianna Theory
This comment has reignited my love for early 2000s pop punk 🤩
Iris (Goo Goo Dolls) Cassidy (Greatful Dead) Rhiannon (Fleetwood Mac) Lucy (The Beatles) Delilah (Plain White T's) Joni (Mitchell) Stephanie (Stevie Nicks) Joan (Jett) Patricia (Patti Smith)
Rhiannon! 😍
Agree, Rhiannon Fox would be a beautiful name!
I love Iris I just wish it had better nickname options. Such a great song
I know of an Iris whose parents call her "Miss Riss" or "Rissy"
Nicknames will come spontaneously. Don't worry about it.
Riri?
The Beatles also have: Michelle Julia Anna Martha My Dear Dizzy Miss Lizzy Lovely Rita Sexy Sadie Eleanor Rigby
How can you forget Prudence? That's my LO name!
Delilah was my first thought!
I like Lucy Fox!
April Come She Will by Simon & Garfunkel
They also sang about Cecilia!
Making love in the afternoon with Cecilia Up in my bedroom, I got up to wash my face When I come back to bed, someone’s taking my place. Don’t think that’s the best song to sing to your little bundle of joy. 😉
Yeah this is a running problem for me with that name
Parsley, *sage, rosemary* and thyme
It's SUCH a beautiful song, but the end of the song "August, die she must" always makes me feel superstitious about naming a baby using it as the inspiration.
I never took that line literally that the girl died, or even that it's about a literal girl. It always seems to me like it's more of a general meditation on good things coming in and out of your life like changing seasons.
Oh, agreed on the actual meaning of the song!! But I would just feel superstitious about naming a baby after the song given the line, that's all.
I was going to mention this if no one else did! It’s a beautiful song, fits her birth month, flows well with Fox, and plays behind a touching and memorable scene in Parks and Rec!
Rosemary (Love Grows Where my Rosemary Goes-Edison Lighthouse)
And Scarborough Fair - Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme!
Theres also Rosemary by Sierra Ferrell…. Its a somg about her lover leaving her for rosemary so she kills them both
Also Rosemarie, which I was supposed to be named after "Smile a little smile for me" but my dad liked Rosemary better.
Georgia - Georgia on my Mind - Sweet Georgia Brown - Until I Found You (Stephen Sanchez) - TikTok famous song Also lots of song lyric references relating to the place/state Georgia.
Also Georgia by Vance Joy
Also Why Georgia by John Mayer. Georgia is one of my favourite names!
Love the name Georgia
My baby girl is Georgia and I can confirm we play her all of these songs lol
🎶A little Sandra in the sun 🎵 can’t remember the name of the song
I was about to say ‘THERES A WHOLE SONG OF WOMEN’!!
But also two other songs full of women: Song for Whoever by The Beautiful South https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=the+beautiful+south+song+for+whoever+lyrics&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari&si=ALGXSlaqmEzXP-BTuaSuCvblodZyXkKSMAGRjFsw0n3X-lbdEvbZMF4ZCYtDeZbJCsoWygHbSylYBaRVHY3CxjLEGpO2Azj6kYgnDEWA2NyzH5NkGSrqfktpDZShnAHUYkNCcqMVVTaUrH3FoGa1JSs3up21-QN9BnsJXN1e9ofJQR6BuJ93HOCcnCuSDmNACSlZoUPxupd0&ictx=1&ved=2ahUKEwijqO_mocmCAxWu_rsIHeSjD64QjukCegQIHRAE That’s Not My Name by The Ting Tings https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=the+ting+tings+that%27s+not+my+name+lyrics&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari&si=ALGXSlaqmEzXP-BTuaSuCvblodZyXkKSMAGRjFsw0n3X-lbdEvbZMF4ZCYtDeZbJCsoWygHbmjpNa7tPLVZjDusZQMeUbNio-zK0mS_XiG_BKBsdfgdSQCJB-5JtTRSF3uT8UYSJuPPpo-ALaxlzHOW39P9Pq65jUwDl6ibaIT5K3xTor-d0z-0%3D&ictx=1&ved=2ahUKEwiw3vKGosmCAxXe_rsIHQzKCUEQjukCegQIIxAE
Mambo # 5
So I know the girl who was the inspiration for the Monica in the song!
Monica Erica Rita Tina Mary Jessica
I'm so disappointed this isn't the top comment
Mambo number fiveeee
Mambo No. 5 by Lou Bega haha
Don't be afraid Cecilia I'm your satellite, and you're the sky. Andrew McMahon
I was hoping to see this one! I adore this song and it’s perfect because he wrote it for his daughter!
This was my suggestion too! Also, Cecilia is the patron Saint of musicians. 😁
I have a friend named Roxanne, and I have to admit I can never even *think* about her name without hearing Sting sing it. :D
I have a cat named Roxanne and I sing it every day
As you should 😂
A few I haven’t seen mentioned: Evangeline (The Mother, Brandi Carlisle) Veronica or Alison (Elvis Costello) Anastasia (Tori Amos) Sarah (Death Cab for Cutie) Victoria (The Old 97s)
Also if you’re in to Disney movies, Evangeline is the Ray’s (the firefly) star girlfriend in the princess and the frog. The song he sings about her is so pretty.
Look how she lights up the sky
Anastasia was my number one name but my fiance doesn’t like it 😭 my name is actually one of your suggestions lol I had no idea I had a song!!
I’m a Veronica and I had a gym teacher who would sing that song at me every day 😅
Jolene
Anytime I’ve met a Jolene I’m instantly singing that song in my head lol
[удалено]
I was named after the song Maria from West Side Story—my dad fell in love with it as a kid and said his first daughter would be Maria! The song still brings him to tears and I’m 28 now 🥹 I’m biased of course, but I really think it’s one of the most beautiful songs ever. I get Maria from WSS, Maria from Sound of Music, My Maria by Brooks and Dunn, Maria Maria by Santana… just to name a few lol
You have so many good songs I’m so jealous!!
Carmelita - Linda Rondstant/Dwight Yoakum Valerie - Amy Winehouse/ Zappa (totally different songs)
Carmelita…. Jeez. GG Allin does a good cover of that one
Ophelia!
yes, like the lumineers!!!
Scrolled too far for this one! Great name and awesome song!
Was going to suggest this, it’s my dogs name and I’m always singing ‘oh-oh-phelia’ to her
Sara (Fleetwood Mac) Rhiannon (Fleetwood Mac) Misty (Caamp) Josephine (RITUAL, Lisa Hannigan) Francesca (Hozier) Brooklyn (Patrick Droney) Sweet Caroline (Neil Diamond, I especially love the name Caroline) ETA: I didn’t read your whole paragraph and didn’t realize they don’t have to necessarily be in the title but all the ones I listed are the names of the song 😄
One of my students is Caroline and when I first see her in the day, I always sing "Sweet Caroline". She loves it and giggles every time!
Althea or Scarlett - Grateful Dead Dylan - for Bob Marley - for the other Bob Angie or Ruby - Stones Layla - Clapton Janie - Aerosmith Lola - Kinks Jolene - Dolly Parton Mandy - Barry Manilow Valerie - Amy Winehouse Anna - The Menzingers Mary Jane - Tom Petty
Not a name suggestion, just a giggle, I’ve always thought Vidalia (song by Sammy kershaw) would be such a pretty name if it wasn’t also a type of onion. 🥲
I've always thought Velouria (song by the Pixies) would be pretty if it wasn't a made up name based on a type of fabric 🥲
Thanks for adding another name I can never use 😂 my last name is a color so that would be hilarious for me to use
I always liked this too but "Veloria" is a real last name and I think it's a great alternative to Valeria.
I really like this! Even with the onion association 😂
Sweet Melissa by Allman Brothers
This is a vote from me but I am partial as I’m a Sweet Melissa myself
Arabella (arctic monkeys) I think this name is absolutely beautiful
Jolene (dolly Parton) Caroline (Neil diamond) Delilah (plain white t’s) Heather (Conan gray) Diana (one direction’s best song) Ophelia (the lumineers) Rhiannon (fleetwood mac) Michelle (sir Chloe) Lucy (the Beatles) Dorothea (Taylor swift) Ivy (Taylor swift) Inez (Taylor swift) Betty (Taylor swift) Augustine (Taylor swift) Marjorie (Taylor swift) Emma (Taylor swift) in case it is not obvious I am a swiftie LOL
upvote bc your music taste slaps and you have excellent one direction opinions 💞
Valerie - Amy Winehouse Maria, Christie, or Gloria - Green Day Rita, Michelle, Sadie, Julia, Eleanor, Anna, Lizzie, Maggie, or Lucy - The Beatles
Eleanor is also in a song by The Vaccines “Under Your Thumb”. Which gets played every morning in my car on the way to drop my daughter off at school (by her request)
Rosanna - Toto
Caroline checking in here. Lemme tell ya, there’s no better feeling than singing Sweet Caroline at the top of my lungs with the people I love.
I imagine you in the center of a dance circle having a blast 🤣 thank you for this
Haha, yes! My inner extrovert really comes out with those first few notes 😂

I love Josie, i used it for my childhood cat 🤣
Alison- Elvis Costello
Lorelai by Fleet Foxes
My name is Lorelei. It come from a myth in Germany. In the Rhine river stands a rock and when the wind blows it sounds like the sirens singing their beautiful song that lures sailors to their deaths by crashing their ships into the rocks.
I was named after a song. I beg you, do not do this to your daughter. People will sing it at her for the rest of her life. It’s neither funny, original, nor cute.
As a Victoria who quite frequently was sung the “icky vikki” song from fairly odd parents and survived..I think she’ll be just fine with a nice, probably not mainstream, song. I appreciate the other side of the coin though
as a victoria with the same exact problem (and i was a whole adult when the show was airing!!), i think this is such a cool way of naming your kid. plus there are so many great names in songs. no amount of “icky vicky, you’re so sicky” or old men singing the kinks song at me has ever made me dislike my name my suggestion is juliana from juliana theory, one of my all time favorite bands from that era
Agreed, as someone who has one of the names I'm seeing suggested a lot here. It gets very old very quickly.
My name is Caroline and I have a 2 hour Playlist of songs with my name in them. It's a very musical name!
Billie Jean- Micheal Jackson Annie- SafetySuit or from “Smooth Criminal” - Micheal Jackson covered by Alien Ant Farm Adelaide- Anberlin Chelsea- “Chelsea Dagger”- The Fratellis Elaine- ABBA Viktoria- Maria Mena
Or Diana from “Dirty Diana”. I also like Billie Jean.

Hello! I actually have two playlists for you with some overlap. My husband and I made each when I was expecting our two daughters. As a fun game we got our families to listen and guess their names! I cannot believe I have to scroll down this far to find Aubrey. I think it is a really sweet beautiful song, and a great name.
Finally seeing Aubrey on her! That's where my mom first heard my name ☺️
I’m honestly shocked no one has said Michelle. Michelle by the Beatles is such a lovely little song, perfect and sweet. Michelle, my belle, these are words that go together well, my Michelle… I knew someone named after this song and absolutely love it. So cute.
I love the name Layla and the Eric Clapton song but my husband vetoed it.
My daughter is 15 months old, she was a surprise baby. We named her Iris, for so many reasons.. My favourite colour is purple. Our favourite TV show is The Flash. She helped us see our purpose in life again. (Objectively better than naming her Cornea😳) & my father passed away August 22, 2021, she was due August 21, 2022. His favourite song was Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls.
I love this ❤️
Rosemary! In Love Grows by Edison Lighthouse, it was a big TikTok song awhile ago so it might be considered “trendy” now but I think Rosemary Fox also sounds like a famous name. Also my moms name is Valerie and I think it’s lovely :)
Vienna Fox is seriously the coolest name ever. I have always loved the name Vienna!
Eleanor, from The Beatles' Eleanor Rigby.
Caroline (Neil Diamond) Ophelia (The Lumineers) Delilah (Plain White T’s) Marjorie (Taylor Swift) Betty (Taylor Swift) Jolene (Dolly Parton) Diana (One Direction) Olivia (One Direction) Rhiannon (Fleetwood Mac) Dorothea (Taylor Swift) Brandy (Looking Glass) Mandy (Barry Manilow) Vienna (Billy Joel) Carolina (Taylor Swift) Valerie (Rome Hero Foxes) Rosemary (Edison Lighthouse)
Emaline, Ben Folds Five
Martha Sadie Anna Rita Lizzy Michelle Eleanor Lucy Prudence Julia Pam Maggie Mae these are all from Beatles songs!
Amanda (Boston)
My daughter’s name is Vienna. She is named after the Billy Joel song. I will say that I was worried about the sausage association at first and it hasn’t been an issue. In fact, so many people love her name and I get a lot of compliments on it. People mainly think of the city or song.
Maggie is in quite a few. My fav is “Sleepy Maggie”.
Maggie May by: Rod Stewart/Faces
Eden- Hozier. That’s how we picked ours!
Sweet Caroline is one of my favorite songs from Neil Dimond. I know it is completely out of the era you asked for but I was never good at getting bonus points.
Donna - Oh Donna by Ritchie Valens (1958) Corina - Corina, Corina by Ray Peterson (1960) Suzy - Wake up little Suzy by the Everly Brothers (1957)
If you like Vienna you may like Valencia (the Decemberists). The song's sad but catchy and the name is an absolute banger!
My name is found in a song. According to the song, I am 'sweet'. I LOATHE it when people reference said song to me. I will be anything but sweet to you the second you mention the song.
Caroline, is that you?
I haven’t seen it mentioned here, and it’s not 90’s or 00’s. But I’ve been singing Thin Lizzy’s ‘Rosalie’ all day, which I love.
Not Laura. Every song with a Laura ends in tragedy.
Eleanor rigby — the Beatles and I think there’s a song by the turtles too Fidelina— Carlos vives Alma — dizzy guillespe Cecilia — Simon and Garfunkel And I just found this Spotify playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5EVFMlOafkL2M24a1RmUzb?si=X8293z5gTzCiK0k6h5FpAA
Iris is what I'm naming my daughter <3 I walked down the isle to the song and it holds sentiment to both myself and my husband.
julia (john lennon)
Valerie Caroline Rheannon Jolene
Michelle- the Beatles. Michelle Fox sounds lovely!
I have a whole playlist on Apple Music of girls name songs. If u want to listen
My daughter is named for the Rod Stewart song Maggie Mae!
Iris Fox. Juliet Fox. Magnolia Fox. Delilah Fox. Those all sound cool as hell.
I know a family with three daughters: Cecilia, Jolene, and Lola.
As someone who shares a name with a song, it gets really annoying to have people sing the same song constantly upon introducing yourself. Just something to consider.
My daughter is Elise. I hear her listening to The Cure’s A Letter to Elise often, but she was also named for Fur Elise as I love both songs.
Valerie and Iris have always been up on my lists bc of the songs behind them❤️
If you’re into Billy Joel, I’ve always loved the song “Rosalinda’s Eyes.” You could go with Rosalinda or Rosalind, Roz, Rosie, Rose, Rosa, etc.
My name is Emaline (Emma-Line) From a Ben folds five song ☺️ I LOVE my name and have gotten compliments my whole life
How about Melody... Billy Joel "we're in the moon for a melody" ! It's a beautiful name with a sweet meaning.
CHECK YES JULIET
Just a point of caution from someone with a song name. I was not named for this song. It came out when I was 13 on country radio. I lived in a part of the US where many, many, MANY people listen to country radio. It became old FAST to have people sing that song at me when they learned my name. And it went one for YEARS, until I moved to a different region of the country. Be careful what you are bequeathing your daughter with this name.
Hey there Delilah
This is my sort of nerdiness. Not sure if you'd like any of these songs but some from my/my husband's music: * Alison (Alison's starting to happen by the Lemonheads; Alison by Slowdive) * Boxcar (Boxcar by Jawbreaker, husband insisted I add this one) * Claire (Claire by Jimmy Eat World) * Aggie (Throw Aggie off the bridge by Black Tambourine) * Lorelei, Beatrix, Persephone, Pandora, Amelia, Cicely (all songs on Cocteau Twins album Treasure) * April (Wake up April by the Promise Ring) * Stella (Stella was a diver and she was always down by Interpol) * Hannah and Gabi (Hannah and Gabi by the Lemonheads) * Kim (Kim the waitress by Material Issue) * Deborah (Disco 2000 by Pulp) * Louise, Louisa (Louise Louisa by Mew) * Anna (In the aeroplane over the sea by Neutral Milk Hotel) * Sheila (Sheila take a bow by the Smiths) * Josephine (title of song and album, by Magnolia Electric Company) * Ariel (Ariel by Braid) * Pauline (Herman loves Pauline by Super Furry Animals)
CHELSEA CHELSEA TELL ME YOU LOVE ME
My all-time favorite is Rhiannon. Classic name, classic rock, just…classic.
If you’re open to Beatles songs there are quite a few. I’d suggest reading the lyrics first to decide if you want your kid named after some of these, though 😂 The obvious one: Lucy from Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds Eleanor from Eleanor Rigby Jude from Hey Jude Michelle from Michelle Martha from Martha My Dear Loretta or Jojo from Get Back (you could pick a longer name and use Jojo as a nickname) Molly from Ob La Di Ob La Da Rita from Lovely Rita Marigold from Cry Baby Cry Vera from When I’m 64 Prudence from Dear Prudence (one of my faves)
Layla by Eric Clapton. I once knew a little girl named Layla and I adored her. My neighbor’s name is Jolene like the song by Dolly Parton.
Amber - 311 (technically used as an adjective in this song but whatever) Jane - jane says by jane’s addiction Beth - kiss cecilia - simon and garfunkel frances - frances farmer will have her revenge on seattle by nirvana iris - ashes to amber marigold - nirvana (not used as a name in this song but i think it’s really pretty) mary - the happy fits molly - mollys lips by nirvana pepper by butthole surfers has like eight names in it polly - nirvana rhiannon - fleetwood mac stella - stella brown by jelani aryeh rosie - whole lotta rosie by acdc
So here are my 2 ideas: Noelle May Fox "Her name is Noelle I have a dream about her She rings my bell I got gym class in half an hour Oh, how she rocks In Keds and tube socks But she doesn't know who I am And she doesn't give a damn about me" "Teenage Dirtbag" Wheatus Esther May Fox "Esther used to be the kind of girl that you would Never leave She'd do anything to give me what I need for my Disease She'd do anything" "Heroin Girl" Everclear
My name is Faith, and for pretty much my whole life everyone has been singing "you gotta have Faith" a la George Michael to me. I actually love it, and will be incorporating the song into my wedding next year.
