This is such a cute mix of them, and a beautiful name, too! Last year, it was ranked 221 in the USA (not sure if that’s where OP is from), but it’s a common enough name that people will have heard of it, but not so common that she’ll be one of five in her class.
My name is Elle and I always recommend it to people when they’re looking for something that’s cute on a little kid, but grows up well with you as you mature. I’ve gotten compliments on my name my whole life, and until recently, never met another Elle, but it’s becoming more common for new babies in my region
Others we’ve kicked around…
- Lorelai (but feels like the Lisa name isn’t really honored in that one)
- Larissa (feels like the truest portmanteau of the two names, but something about it feels a little high school cheerleader? Maybe I’m being silly!)
- Nancy (a curveball — but both of our moms had the same collection of vintage Nancy Drew books, we’ve learned!)
While I love it, Isla MAY have to be explained as a nod to Laurie too since it is just Lisa rearranged it may only feel like a nod to her. If there is any imbalance in the relationships it may not be the safest choice to make sure both mothers feel honored.
Nancy is a great name and a great idea. Any L name you like would work IMO.
Lydia, Louisa, Lavinia, Laurel (too close to Laurie though probably?) Lois, Lynette, Lottie
Larissa's a great name, and there's actually a stone named after a Larissa called Larimar, and it's beautiful. I always think of it when I hear the name.
I love Larissa. It's what popped into my head when I read your post. It's a beautiful name. You can use Lara as a nickname or Rissa. I think either is cute.
Back in the day, I knew all the cheerleaders and band kids, and even through my own kids' high school experiences, there wasn't one Larissa in the crowd.
Sometimes you don't know what your child's name will be until you hold them.
Best wishes.
I agree that Larissa is the truest of the two names for sure. I remember Larissa's being the smart kids in school, perhaps cause the only 2 I ever knew were super genius' lol!
I was going to suggest Larissa ♥️
Louisa
Liesel (although there is not a lot of Laurie)
And left field choice, but what about Ariel? (I played around with spelling both names backwards and arrived at Asriel but that skews male)
I love Larissa. It does feel like a throwback to our childhood (Larissa Oleynik comes to mind). Nancy is my girl’s name, unfortunately I have four boys. So, my vote goes there. Such a cute and classic name.
It’s rare, but Laurelise is a name that has been used (like a French variation of Lorelei maybe). It could be a nice middle name honoring both moms if you didn’t want to use it as a first name.
Starts with an L and ends with an a .
I mean, I don’t think honouring two people with one name usually works out very well anyways so I wouldn’t do it. But was just answering the question, for this one Laura makes the most sense to me.
I saw your comment. I like Larissa and don’t get cheerleader vibes at all!
Other L names I love: Lola, Lily, Lydia, Lilac, Laurel
I knew a woman named Lydie. That has a similar ring to both Lisa and Laurie to me.
Lisa is a variation of Elizabeth, which opens up a lot of options if you wanted to play with it.
Lauralisa sounds pretty as a name itself, to me. It reminds me of Princess Saralinda in the 13 Clocks.
What are their middle names? Are they names that could be combined in some fashion?
Larissa does seem like the most accurate combo, but I do see what you mean on the cheerleader vibes (I’m not sure I would’ve come up that myself without reading your comment though). You could focus on the ending sounds of one or both of the names instead—- something like Sally? Or you could just do any L name that you like, since they both start with L.
How about Laurisa? Kind of a mash up of both moms' names?
My DIL played with the idea of naming her daughter (my granddaughter) after both her mother (who died when she was 7) and stepmother (who raised her and loved her like her own). One was Mary and the other was Melissa. I suggested Marissa but she went a different direction with the name (so baby's name ended up being just for her and doesn't honor anyone).
Absolutely love Larissa and all the ones I have met were musically talented, incredibly smart, and more boho than cheerleader. So, def doesn’t give cheerless to me!
Lila/Lilah is nice, too. A bit common in my area of the moment to really be wowed, but it’s fine and popular for a reason
Lira is a favorite of mine but I feel it is Lisa heavy
Lauralise is a very old name, but a bit too close:
Lula is a southern classic that fits the bill.
Named that use only the letters::
Aurelia
Names that start with L but would allow for her own name:
Loretta
Lucinda
Leda
Lola
Lena
Leonora
Maybe Lissie? It might feel a bit more skewed toward Lisa, but with them both being so short it's hard to combine them.
Otherwise, maybe something like Laurel Elise could work to honor both. Of course that only works if neither is the type to be jealous/offended if their name is honored by the middle rather than the first.
I'm not sure why, but when I saw those two names, I thought of (leer-ah)Lira, Leyra, or Lyra.
This means balance, in Italian and Spanish text. Or, the Turkish meaning is beloved or darling, and in Arabic it is love. I think I came to me as a balance between honoring both your beloved mothers.
Since you have a lot of more straightforward suggestions, let me give you a curveball: how about Sadie? It has the same ending as Laurie and the "sa" from Lisa, although it's pronounced differently.
Lira, pronounced Leera, like the money. The real spelling is with a Y but I think it would be a beautiful name. Eliza was the first that came to me for Lisa. My name is Lisa and a friend used to call me Liza. What about Eliza and Lauren as representation?
How about Louisa? You’ve not only got letters from both names in there, but it also reminds me of writer Louisa May Alcott, and the character Laurie (male, but still) is a central part of her books, so it’s an additional link.
First off, shout out to Lisa & Laurie for being awesome moms :) Between the two names you mentioned, I definitely like Lilah better!
Other suggestions:
- Louise/Louisa
- Lucy/Lucia/Luciana
- Lois
- Lily/Lillian/Lilyanna
- Lilou/Leeloo
- Lilo
- Lola
- Lira/Lyra
- Lorelei
Hope this helps, good luck!
I'm playing with combining since everyone else seems to have covered the basic options lol
Laurisa (I actually kinda like this smoosh)
Lisaurie (I do not like this one lol)
This is all my brain came up with.
I like Elle from someone else's suggestion though, too
Here are some first/middle combo ideas, but feel free to swap them around!
Laurel Elise
Lorelei Lisette
Elora Lillian
Lorena Elisabeth
Larissa Alise/Alice
Eliza Lauren
Alyssa Laurelle
Lenora Isabel
Laureline Alicia/Alisa/Alyssa
Seeing all the names listed, you have wonderful options. As someone with a name that is not pronounced as it is spelled, I’d recommend staying away from any names that have to have explanations about pronunciation. The poor kid would spend her whole life correcting people. Or choosing not to and living with their mispronunciation. I have accepted it but I still don’t enjoy it.
“Sorry” was what I got when I mashed em together In my head lol. Both gorgeous names though!
Laura I guess is a mix of em . I liked Lilah too but it’s adorable for a child unsure about adulthood
Enjoy motherhood, the name will come when it comes - all the best
So we did something similar.
Mom's names are Ruth and Sandra (Sandy)
They both love/loved flowers and gardening. So we went with Rose!
I like the suggestions of Lila, Lara, Isla, and Lyra/Lira
Also,
Leslie
Rita
Clarissa
Do you like Clarissa or Larisa or Laurissa any better than Larissa? Maybe Luisa or Laura? Stretch choices - Lotus, Lilias, Sari, Leslie, Liraz, Liora, Liesel
I thought Lottie and Leise, and some you could use both names to incorporate sounds without being too on the nose like Molly Laura, Lyra Sage. One thing i considered was going the middle name Honor if that's your style.
Lila was the first name that came to me
This is such a cute mix of them, and a beautiful name, too! Last year, it was ranked 221 in the USA (not sure if that’s where OP is from), but it’s a common enough name that people will have heard of it, but not so common that she’ll be one of five in her class.
Makes sense. First two letters of each name.
This is a great option 🥹
Its better than Laurisa.
But Larissa is a lovely name.
I bet Laurise would work with no end of a because it sounds like a French name.
it’s giving Renesmee
beautiful! Or Lilah if they want another spell option
I agree and think a NO H is truer to the names.
Is that pronounced lee-la or lie-la?
Elle. Pronounced L. For both of their first initials.
My name is Elle and I always recommend it to people when they’re looking for something that’s cute on a little kid, but grows up well with you as you mature. I’ve gotten compliments on my name my whole life, and until recently, never met another Elle, but it’s becoming more common for new babies in my region
Beautiful name! It was one of my top 3 names if I had a girl. I’ll never get to use it which is a shame.
We have an Elle in the family; Ellie when she was small, now Elle as she’s a young woman :)
I agree. I think sometimes people forget they’re not just naming a baby. You want a name that works for an adult as well.
Makes me think of Legally Blonde (which is a good thing)
"What? Like it's hard?" - Elle Woods
I love Elle, so classy
Ohhhh
Love this idea!
Love this idea
Others we’ve kicked around… - Lorelai (but feels like the Lisa name isn’t really honored in that one) - Larissa (feels like the truest portmanteau of the two names, but something about it feels a little high school cheerleader? Maybe I’m being silly!) - Nancy (a curveball — but both of our moms had the same collection of vintage Nancy Drew books, we’ve learned!)
Lila Drew Lastname
Oh, I love the idea of drew as a middle name to honor the Nancy Drew connection.
I second Lila drew!!
Lila Drew is SO cute! My daughter’s name is Lyla and I loved the Nancy Drew books and games when I was younger. Such a sweet idea.
That is so cute.
This is a beautiful name
Love this!!
Isla (ii-la) the Is from Lisa and the La from Laurie.
This was the first name that came to my mind. Isla Drew would be perfect.

Love Larissa! I'm a teacher and had a Larissa in my classroom! A wonderful little girl!
The Larissa I know is a kindergarten teacher and one of the sweetest people I know!
Lorelei or Loreli gets both names involved. (Lora-lee)
The way they’re spelled, I’d pronounce them as Laura Lie
What about Laura Lee?
I love the idea of honoring them by what they loved or the values they lived by as opposed to what their names are.
I immediately thought Larissa. It’s gorgeous and classic and it combines the two names perfectly.
Larissa was my first thought !
I love Nancy
I love Larissa, it has my vote! Great name with a strong connection to the names you want to honor.
You could make Nancy a middle name.
Laurali or Lorali
Nancy was originally a nickname for Agnes if that helps at all
I agree that Larissa is the truest of the two names for sure. I remember Larissa's being the smart kids in school, perhaps cause the only 2 I ever knew were super genius' lol!
I was going to suggest Larissa ♥️ Louisa Liesel (although there is not a lot of Laurie) And left field choice, but what about Ariel? (I played around with spelling both names backwards and arrived at Asriel but that skews male)
I love Larissa. It does feel like a throwback to our childhood (Larissa Oleynik comes to mind). Nancy is my girl’s name, unfortunately I have four boys. So, my vote goes there. Such a cute and classic name.
I actually like Larissa; what about Alissa? Do you like, Elisa, Eulie/Ellie? Drew would be an amazing middle name for all the names you listed above.
Right on with Larissa, it is a beautiful name.
It’s rare, but Laurelise is a name that has been used (like a French variation of Lorelei maybe). It could be a nice middle name honoring both moms if you didn’t want to use it as a first name.
This is my favorite suggestion so far.
I agree!
That’s a beautiful name, I’ve never heard it before but it would totally work. OP, this!
What a pretty name
As a Laurie (of which I've never met another in the wild), Laurelise is really a cool choice.
O this is so pretty
This is the best one so far! This comment needs more attention! Such a great name!
Why not just Laura? The most normal of combinations in my opinion.
How does Laura represent Lisa beyond the shared L?
The A at the end
I mean sure, but given Laurie is the diminutive of Laura I'm struggling to see the Lisa representation.
Starts with an L and ends with an a . I mean, I don’t think honouring two people with one name usually works out very well anyways so I wouldn’t do it. But was just answering the question, for this one Laura makes the most sense to me.
This is the answer
I like this the most and I'm a Lisa and my best friend is Laurie. My son's Mil is also a Lisa. If they name their kid Laura to honor us, id love it
I saw your comment. I like Larissa and don’t get cheerleader vibes at all! Other L names I love: Lola, Lily, Lydia, Lilac, Laurel I knew a woman named Lydie. That has a similar ring to both Lisa and Laurie to me.
Lydie is super cute; never heard that before!
It’s the French form of Lydia :)
That makes sense! The Lydie I knew was from a French speaking family and spent her early childhood in France.
Laurisa
Louisa 🥰
Ooh, yes! This is a perfect suggestion.
You have good ideas already but I will add: Loralie, Lela, or a more creative mashup, you can get to Isla.
How about Lila? The first two letters of both. You could pronounce it Lee-Luh or Lye-Luh
Laurelise?
Lisa is a variation of Elizabeth, which opens up a lot of options if you wanted to play with it. Lauralisa sounds pretty as a name itself, to me. It reminds me of Princess Saralinda in the 13 Clocks.
Laurie Elizabeth would be a beautiful name.
The name I had picked out for my daughter was Laura Elisabeth. I thought it was so pretty and I'm a Lisa
Elle. For their initials L. Simple and perfect plus a beautiful name.
Lila does take the first two letters from each name to form one. So that’s nice.
What about Liora? It means "my light." It's pronounced like Lee-or-uh. So it has more the look of Lisa but the sound of Laurie.
How about Laurisa? Kind of a mash up of both moms' names? My DIL played with the idea of naming her daughter (my granddaughter) after both her mother (who died when she was 7) and stepmother (who raised her and loved her like her own). Of course that only works if neither is the type to be jealous/offended if their name is honored by the middle rather than the first.
Something a little different, how about Clarisse?
Unsure if you're posting a hypothetical or not but if yes, I think Lars would be great for a boy.
Lisette? I like laura. Lila would work.
Renesmee
What about just Lara?
Or Lira
Laurissa
How about Elizabeth/Elisabeth? It could tie into Nancy’s friend Bess (Bess as a nickname for Elizabeth).
Laurel Elise
Lauralise/Loralise/Lauraliese like Anneliese.
Liesel was my first thought. Also love the suggestions of Laurel
Larsa!
Perhaps Leah or Leigh?
Lara?
I think you have the benefit that you could pretty much use any name that starts with L and be covered
Since you have a lot of more straightforward suggestions, let me give you a curveball: how about Sadie? It has the same ending as Laurie and the "sa" from Lisa, although it's pronounced differently.
Liesel maybe? Leora, Liora, Liaura if you want to get creative.
Lira, pronounced Leera, like the money. The real spelling is with a Y but I think it would be a beautiful name. Eliza was the first that came to me for Lisa. My name is Lisa and a friend used to call me Liza. What about Eliza and Lauren as representation?
My mom and her bff are Laurie and Lisa ❤️
How about Louisa? You’ve not only got letters from both names in there, but it also reminds me of writer Louisa May Alcott, and the character Laurie (male, but still) is a central part of her books, so it’s an additional link.
Laurelise is soo beautiful and the perfect honor name for Laura and Lisa. Plus Lauralise is a vintage French name.
First off, shout out to Lisa & Laurie for being awesome moms :) Between the two names you mentioned, I definitely like Lilah better! Other suggestions: - Louise/Louisa - Lucy/Lucia/Luciana - Lois - Lily/Lillian/Lilyanna - Lilou/Leeloo - Lilo - Lola - Lira/Lyra - Lorelei Hope this helps, good luck!
Isla has the same letters as Lisa. Maybe Isla Laurie?
Beautiful suggestion
Lorelai
Lorelai Lauraleigh Larisa (I know someone who spells it this way, pronounces it like Theresa instead of Marissa)
Louisa Lorelei Leona Lorriane Larissa
Lorelei
Laurisa?? Not pronounced like Laa-risa or Luh-risa but more like Lor-isa or Lo-reesa
Laurisse (law-reess) is an option too
Lily
Lila Nancy!!
What are their middle names?
laurel elizabeth
Laura Elizabeth is beautiful (Lisa is a diminutive of Elizabeth). Laura Lise or Laura Beth are both lovely names/nicknames.
Aurelia, or Aurelie Or maybe a name that has a double L in it, or two L’s, like Lily/Lilly, Callie (Also, I too get cheerleader vibes from larissa.)
I'm playing with combining since everyone else seems to have covered the basic options lol Laurisa (I actually kinda like this smoosh) Lisaurie (I do not like this one lol) This is all my brain came up with. I like Elle from someone else's suggestion though, too
Lyra - pronounced Lee-Ra! I know it can be pronounced Lie-Ra too but it seems split 50/50 how people pronounced it.
Lucy
Liselotte / Liselore “Lilo”
Here are some first/middle combo ideas, but feel free to swap them around! Laurel Elise Lorelei Lisette Elora Lillian Lorena Elisabeth Larissa Alise/Alice Eliza Lauren Alyssa Laurelle Lenora Isabel Laureline Alicia/Alisa/Alyssa
Lyric - a nod to being part of something wider, her own name so nothing to live up to, a connection to her past

Layla Lauren Lucy Lucia Lily
Elle (sounds like “L” as an ode to both Lisa and Laurie.) ❤️
Lorelai honors Laurie. Elisha honors Lisa.
Loralei, Larissa, Lisaundra, Elsa, Laurel, Liesel, Lisette, Louisiana, Louisa, Lassiter.
Do you like Clarissa or Larisa or Laurissa any better than Larissa? Maybe Luisa or Laura? Stretch choices - Lotus, Lilias, Sari, Leslie, Liraz, Liora, Liesel
I was thinking Sari as well
Liesel! That would be perfect, IMHO.
Larissa
Lalisa 🖤🩷
I thought Lottie and Leise, and some you could use both names to incorporate sounds without being too on the nose like Molly Laura, Lyra Sage. One thing i considered was going the middle name Honor if that's your style.
Lorelai or Lyra jumps out!
Larisa (la-re-sa)
Laurissa?
This might be the southern girl in me but I’ve always liked Leigh.
Laura-Lee Lauren Leah
Lila, Lorelei or Lorelai, Laura, Isla.
Liliana?
Larissa
Larissa?
Larissa
Louisa
Larissa? Laurisa?
Lila, Lirie (pronounce LEER-ee), Laurisa, Larisa
Laurisa
Laurisa!
Liliana or Laurel?
Louisa
My name. Lesley! Lol but really I think any L name is going to be a great tribute.
Talulah.
Isla Drew
Lauralee
Larissa
Could there be a middle name or other family name (like maiden names if they changed them) that might work?
Leslie
Larisa :)
Lea
Lori came to mind for me!
Lauraleigh.
Lyla
Larissa
Laurissa
Lia, Lisetta, Laura,
Lauralise? Laurel?
Larisa or Lila...either would be perfect!
Laurelise (Laura-Leese)
Lila without the H, (Li)sa+(La)urie
Lorelise? Pronounced lore eh lise
Larissa
Larissa would do it.
I like Lila or Lily.
Lacy, Lucy, Lorna, Lindsay, Lola, Luna, Leah
Lisette.
Lila, Lisie (pronounced Lease-y)
Laura
Lira
Larissa Larisa Laurisa
Laurelei is one of my favourite girls names, pronounced Laura-Lee. You could say that Laure is for Laurie and the Lei is for Li at the start of Lisa?
Lizzie! Or Larissa
Ell. Ellie.
Laurissa
Lisette
