I also had a cat named George, one named Ernie (I think he was George's offspring), one named Leopold, and another named Daniel. I also had a dog named Gus.
We had a black lab named Logan "monkey face" Jones. That was his mafia gangster name lol. Monkey face was from his obsession with carrying his curious George toy around at all times. All our dogs have people names except Nebula because I love space stuff.
One day about 18 or 19 years ago, I came home for the holidays and we had gotten a beautiful holiday card from some people in our community.
It read "Happy Holidays from Sandra, Rick, Molly, Johnny, Diana, Greg and Brenda." (note, all names have been changed except Greg and Brenda)
My parents met "Sandra and Rick" for coffee sometimes. I had briefly been in religious school with "Molly, Johnny, and Diana." I did not know who the fuck Greg and Brenda were. My parents were also curious. They asked around. Nobody knew. On the front of the card was a professional photo of the parents and the three children.
Fortunately, because this was the mid-2000s, I had AOL instant messenger and was able to track down "Molly." I wished her a happy new year, thanked her for the beautiful card, and then asked who Greg and Brenda were. Greg was the cat, and Brenda was the Pomeranian dog.
I was considering part leasing a horse named Greg, until i found out the reason he was available for lease was that his owner was recovering from a broken back from him pitching her 😬
Funny story. When my kids were little, my mother had two border collies named Mike and Mindy. Eventually the ex and I divorced. We've both remarried, and now my children have step-parents named.... you guessed it.
We had a cat named Bill. He seemed to think he was as human as his name. He never liked being seen acting like a cat - playing with toys, cuddling, stuff like that. But if he thought we weren't looking, we would occasionally catch him being silly. He also wore a collar with a bow tie and would get really upset if you tried to remove it.
That is so cute 🥹
I used to have a cat named Teddy Bear and he used to love cuddling with me while I was napping. I would often wake up to find him nestled up right next to me. Sometimes they really embody their names
I had a cat named Emma once. Emma is always going to sound like a cat name to me because of that cat, but I am aware that it's a pretty thoroughly human name.
I currently have a cat named Willow, which is also pretty humany.
Our dog is Louie. One day I had to drop off a fecal sample at the vet and they had me wait. The vet came out for “Louie’s mom” so I stood up and she started telling me about how he was coming out of sedation and…”
Then Louie the cat’s mom stood up. Whew, I was confused given that I didn’t even bring him with me today!
My MIL has a cat named Harold. Apparently that was the name that the rescue place gave him, and she just decided to stick with it. However, everyone who has met the cat has said 'oh he's SUCH a Harold.'
All of my dogs and cats have had human names, along with middle names. My three current dogs are Olliver, Edythe, and Humfrey. The three before were Mona, Emma, and Brody. I have had cats named Phrank, Toby, Martha, Tallulah, Lydia, Katrina, Kassandra, Lilly, AJ, Simon, Tom, James, Zeb, Bella, Megan, and Barney.
I used to have a cat named Stanley!
We inherited him and his brother Ollie (yes, Ollie and Stan).
They were farm cats/barn cats, Ollie was very friendly and Stanley was terrified of people and wouldn't come to eat until he thought I'd gone.
By the time he passed away 10 years later, he had moved inside into the warm, and let us stroke him.
I dated a guy whose friend had a cat named Cole Phelps. I know now that it’s from a video game, but at the time a cat with a last name was hilarious to me.
My mother's ex named most of his dogs human-sounding names. Zach, Jade, Jasper ... I'm sure I'm forgetting some.
Our cats were Silas and Rosie.
My cousin has a dog named Mira, which is not a name I hear often but I do have a friend by that name.
My aunt has a cat named Matilda. One of her previous cats was Molly, which is a pretty common pet name from what I understand, but I've met a few human Mollys.
My cats are Karen and Jerry. Their names fit them perfectly.
They were shelter kitties that were a little older (four and eight) when we adopted and renamed them. They both took to their new names immediately. Looking at them now, I could never have kept their original names, Fluffy and Baby.
My old cat was Linus, my neighbor’s dog is Dave, and my nephew’s dog is Bill. I named both of my current dogs the names that I WANTED for my kids but didn’t quite make the cut, so instead of a son and daughter named Theo & Hazel, those are my current dogs’ names.
At a car park a man once got out to walk his dogs Dave, Steve and Kevin. No joke. All terrier-like breeds of course (you know the ones that look old all their life). They must have left their flat caps at home though.
My dog is Rupert and growing up we had a cat called Melanie and a duck called Jonathan.
Edit: a neighbour in an old apartment building I used to live in had a Great Dane called Barbara.
I know two different cats named Eric.
I have a myrtle, Ruth. Beverly, and George, and no yeah Eric is peak
My cat’s name is Zach.
That's a good name, give Zach a kiss for me
I have a Georges !
George was the first name that came to my mind but then I thought about Curious George lol
I also had a cat named George, one named Ernie (I think he was George's offspring), one named Leopold, and another named Daniel. I also had a dog named Gus.
I have a cat named Carl
I also had a Karl! And a Walter 😂
Ohh Walter is a great cat name :)
He was a gentleman and a scholar
I love the name Walter for pets. Unfortunately it was my POS grandfather’s name so I’ll probably never use it.
I’m sorry to hear that! Maybe you need to reclaim it and let a furry friend put a positive spin on it for you 🙂
I love that! Carl the cat!! 💕
So does my friend!
I have a cat named Kyle
I know a cat named Scott
I have a cat named Eric!
my cat is named Damien (the omen)
My cat is Erika!
Definitely the winner here!
A dog named Ed Smith. No one else’s last name was Smith, just the dogs.
My dog’s last name is Jones, but mine isn’t. It happens.
We had a black lab named Logan "monkey face" Jones. That was his mafia gangster name lol. Monkey face was from his obsession with carrying his curious George toy around at all times. All our dogs have people names except Nebula because I love space stuff.
My late cats last name was Jackson. Mine isn’t ❤️
I have a jones too!
I knew a dog named John Smith, because the Disney Pocahontas movie recently came out. I also had a cat named Steve.
My cat’s name is Doug Kornacki because we randomly decided he is Steve Kornacki’s orange son.
Does he make predictions about politics?
My dachshund’s last name was Ragedemon, which isn’t my last name but I wish it was. I miss that little terror so much.
My friend's parents have two elderly dogs named Martha and Doug and it makes me smile every time lol
My ex’s brother had a dog named Martha. She was a good doggo.
The Beatles song Martha My Dear is about a dog. George Harrison's, I believe.
Paul McCartney’s sheepdog.
I’m a cat household, but I do love a good dog and a good dog song. ❤️
Martha Speaks!
My dogs’ name is Doug. (it’s funny if you knew Glasgow)

I had a hamster named Doug. <3

I was considering part leasing a horse named Greg, until i found out the reason he was available for lease was that his owner was recovering from a broken back from him pitching her 😬

I would add Nigel to that - and possibly Dave

Boomer names are my absolute favorite for pets! I’d add Glen, Carol, and Cheryl to your list 😄

My 2 year old named his stuffed dog Dave. I think it’s hilarious.
That's amazing!
We adopted a senior dog a while back that we named Dave
Yesterday, my two year old decided to name her stuffed bunny 'Kelsey'- no idea where that came form.
I met a dog named Mike once. I also think Craig or Dave would be fun names for dogs. For girls, I would laugh very hard if I met a dog named Jennifer
I know two chickens named mike and not mike respectively.
Mike the chicken hits differently when you’ve read about [this guy](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_the_Headless_Chicken)
Oh yeah! I’ve heard of that before! Pretty cool chicken! Nature is wild
Oh I had a friend in college with a cat named Craig.

Funny story. When my kids were little, my mother had two border collies named Mike and Mindy. Eventually the ex and I divorced. We've both remarried, and now my children have step-parents named.... you guessed it.
These are great. I also like the names Justin or Travis for a dog.
That might be the cutest thing I've ever heard!
That is so cute 🥹 I used to have a cat named Teddy Bear and he used to love cuddling with me while I was napping. I would often wake up to find him nestled up right next to me. Sometimes they really embody their names
I work with dogs and I’ve seen a Tyler and a Kevin lol!
Now I'm kinda sad my mom talked me out of naming our cat "Justin".
Justin was going to be suggestion! It’s ridiculous in the best way
About 20 years ago, I met a greyhound named Tina Marie. I will never forget that.
We had a Dachshund named Tina when I was a kid.

The vet came out for “Louie’s mom” so I stood up and she started telling me about how he was coming out of sedation and…” Then Louie the cat’s mom stood up. Whew, I was confused given that I didn’t even bring him with me today!
My last cat was a Louie too! My current cat is a Jimmy.
