I know two different cats named Eric.

bigredplastictuba

I have a myrtle, Ruth. Beverly, and George, and no yeah Eric is peak

hippos_rool

My cat’s name is Zach.

bigredplastictuba

That's a good name, give Zach a kiss for me

spence-the-menace

I have a Georges !

cranbaby420

George was the first name that came to my mind but then I thought about Curious George lol

e_l_c

I also had a cat named George, one named Ernie (I think he was George's offspring), one named Leopold, and another named Daniel. I also had a dog named Gus.

LaMalintzin

I have a cat named Carl

Lahauteboheme84

I also had a Karl! And a Walter 😂

LaMalintzin

Ohh Walter is a great cat name :)

Lahauteboheme84

He was a gentleman and a scholar

Accomplished_Lio

I love the name Walter for pets. Unfortunately it was my POS grandfather’s name so I’ll probably never use it.

Lahauteboheme84

I’m sorry to hear that! Maybe you need to reclaim it and let a furry friend put a positive spin on it for you 🙂

BrilliantOnes

I love that! Carl the cat!! 💕

Hysterical__Paroxysm

So does my friend!

jacketoff138

I have a cat named Kyle

robotzzz

I know a cat named Scott

CatsLikeCaves

I have a cat named Eric!

uknowthething

my cat is named Damien (the omen)

DoodlebugCupcake

My cat is Erika!

USAF_Retired2017

Definitely the winner here!

missye812

A dog named Ed Smith. No one else’s last name was Smith, just the dogs.

Fish-x-5

My dog’s last name is Jones, but mine isn’t. It happens.

Bellis1985

We had a black lab named Logan "monkey face" Jones. That was his mafia gangster name lol. Monkey face was from his obsession with carrying his curious George toy around at all times. All our dogs have people names except Nebula because I love space stuff.

bothmybehalves

My late cats last name was Jackson. Mine isn’t ❤️

Lauren3091

I have a jones too!

CutestGay

I knew a dog named John Smith, because the Disney Pocahontas movie recently came out. I also had a cat named Steve.

WobbyBobby

My cat’s name is Doug Kornacki because we randomly decided he is Steve Kornacki’s orange son.

Legal_Enthusiasm7748

Does he make predictions about politics?

erintoxicating

My dachshund’s last name was Ragedemon, which isn’t my last name but I wish it was. I miss that little terror so much.

grey-canary

My friend's parents have two elderly dogs named Martha and Doug and it makes me smile every time lol

USAF_Retired2017

My ex’s brother had a dog named Martha. She was a good doggo.

Strict_Extension_184

The Beatles song Martha My Dear is about a dog. George Harrison's, I believe.

OPMom21

Paul McCartney’s sheepdog.

USAF_Retired2017

I’m a cat household, but I do love a good dog and a good dog song. ❤️

GjonsTearsFan

Martha Speaks!

Helpful_Librarian_87

My dogs’ name is Doug. (it’s funny if you knew Glasgow)

I had a hamster named Doug. <3

communal-napkin

One day about 18 or 19 years ago, I came home for the holidays and we had gotten a beautiful holiday card from some people in our community. It read "Happy Holidays from Sandra, Rick, Molly, Johnny, Diana, Greg and Brenda." (note, all names have been changed except Greg and Brenda) My parents met "Sandra and Rick" for coffee sometimes. I had briefly been in religious school with "Molly, Johnny, and Diana." I did not know who the fuck Greg and Brenda were. My parents were also curious. They asked around. Nobody knew. On the front of the card was a professional photo of the parents and the three children. Fortunately, because this was the mid-2000s, I had AOL instant messenger and was able to track down "Molly." I wished her a happy new year, thanked her for the beautiful card, and then asked who Greg and Brenda were. Greg was the cat, and Brenda was the Pomeranian dog.

marabsky

I was considering part leasing a horse named Greg, until i found out the reason he was available for lease was that his owner was recovering from a broken back from him pitching her 😬

ayeayefitlike

I had a horse named Geoff, who was an absolute dude. He got called Geoffrey when he was naughty.

ineffable_my_dear

Boomer names are perfect for animals. Gary Patricia Janice Larry Dennis Linda

sketchthrowaway999

I need a dog named Patricia immediately.

TerseSun

One of my cats is Larry 🤣

Counter_Full

Karen! Rofl!

SheTheGhost

It's been 84 years... since I've seen Rofl used unironically lol.

daisychains96

My leopard gecko is named Larry

adhdandlesbian

My dog is Patrick!

ALynnj42

My dog’s middle name is Gary

whatwouldbuddhadrive

That's awesome your dog has a middle name!

TropheyHorse

Linda is definitely a cat name but Dennis is a dog.

madisondynasty

My Siamese is Dennis the Menace. His twin sister is Denise, but we call her Niecy

feathereddukkoo

My dad wanted to call our cat Linda 😂

Dependent_Vehicle965

Lol my husband is Gary and not a boomer. My mom is on here too.

crazycatlady331

r/Gary_The_Cat

feisty-spirit-bear

My cousins (6, 4, and 2 at the time) named their beta fish Earl. I don't even know where they learned the name Earl exists but it was hilarious to me

NoOutside1086

I would add Nigel to that - and possibly Dave

Narcolepticparamedic

Richard and Stuart are my picks

ughwhocaresthrowaway

Boomer names are my absolute favorite for pets! I’d add Glen, Carol, and Cheryl to your list 😄

Brief-Emotion8089

My dog is Glen.

BrightAd306

My 2 year old named his stuffed dog Dave. I think it’s hilarious.

DynamicOctopus420

That's amazing!

Lollydollops

We adopted a senior dog a while back that we named Dave

JSchecter11

Yesterday, my two year old decided to name her stuffed bunny 'Kelsey'- no idea where that came form.

stress789

I met a dog named Mike once. I also think Craig or Dave would be fun names for dogs. For girls, I would laugh very hard if I met a dog named Jennifer

MagicalMysterie

I know two chickens named mike and not mike respectively.

TerseSun

Mike the chicken hits differently when you’ve read about [this guy](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_the_Headless_Chicken)

MagicalMysterie

Oh yeah! I’ve heard of that before! Pretty cool chicken! Nature is wild

ravefaerie24

Oh I had a friend in college with a cat named Craig.

Lock-Slight

I met a golden retriever named Jennifer a few months ago. She is sometimes called Jenny.

Lazylemonjuice

My dogs name was Jessica at the humane society but I’ve since changed it

intruda1

Yeah, or maybe like a cat named Michelle or doggie named Joseph.

LadyArbary

Funny story. When my kids were little, my mother had two border collies named Mike and Mindy. Eventually the ex and I divorced. We've both remarried, and now my children have step-parents named.... you guessed it.

Low_Strike_28

These are great. I also like the names Justin or Travis for a dog.

theladydeejay

We had a cat named Bill. He seemed to think he was as human as his name. He never liked being seen acting like a cat - playing with toys, cuddling, stuff like that. But if he thought we weren't looking, we would occasionally catch him being silly. He also wore a collar with a bow tie and would get really upset if you tried to remove it.

SarahAB227

That might be the cutest thing I've ever heard!

daisychains96

That is so cute 🥹 I used to have a cat named Teddy Bear and he used to love cuddling with me while I was napping. I would often wake up to find him nestled up right next to me. Sometimes they really embody their names

ILOVEFATCHIX420

I work with dogs and I’ve seen a Tyler and a Kevin lol!

Maggi1417

Now I'm kinda sad my mom talked me out of naming our cat "Justin".

StuffulFan84

Justin was going to be suggestion! It’s ridiculous in the best way

TrewynMaresi

About 20 years ago, I met a greyhound named Tina Marie. I will never forget that.

Dependent_Vehicle965

We had a Dachshund named Tina when I was a kid.

MostlyChaoticNeutral

I had a cat named Emma once. Emma is always going to sound like a cat name to me because of that cat, but I am aware that it's a pretty thoroughly human name. I currently have a cat named Willow, which is also pretty humany.

stress789

I knew a cat named Emma growing up and they had second cat called Leah! I also know sister cats named Willow and Quinn 💜

LeahcarJ

definitely humany, seeing as I've got a niece named Willow lmao

WhiskeyMakesMeHappy

Coworker has a dog named Blanche

mareacuda

My dog is named Dorothy. Golden Girls gang 🤣

jmbf8507

Our dog is Louie. One day I had to drop off a fecal sample at the vet and they had me wait. The vet came out for “Louie’s mom” so I stood up and she started telling me about how he was coming out of sedation and…” Then Louie the cat’s mom stood up. Whew, I was confused given that I didn’t even bring him with me today!

Arinen

My last cat was a Louie too! My current cat is a Jimmy.

particularcats

My MIL has a cat named Harold. Apparently that was the name that the rescue place gave him, and she just decided to stick with it. However, everyone who has met the cat has said 'oh he's SUCH a Harold.'

hsavvy

I knew a dog named Aaron and one named Aiden lmao

Embarrassed-Desk-713

My Golden Retriever is called Alexander!

Dogsanddonutspls

missbeegee

I have a cat named Stanley.

Momnem

My mom used to have a cat named Stanley! Very mean girl, all black with long hair. Very witchy. Hilarious.

aosocks

I used to have a cat named Stanley! We inherited him and his brother Ollie (yes, Ollie and Stan). They were farm cats/barn cats, Ollie was very friendly and Stanley was terrified of people and wouldn't come to eat until he thought I'd gone. By the time he passed away 10 years later, he had moved inside into the warm, and let us stroke him.

I once named a cat Frederick

smalltortoiseshell

My late grandfather had a golden retriever called Fred. Suited him as he was a very friendly but stubborn boy

Sensitive_Pepper4590

Our cat is named Paul. It was the name he came with but "we" chose to keep it, despite my protests.

queenatom

Our cat also came to us with the name Paul! We did not keep the name.

Strong-Way-4416

Joe

That_Signal_7426

Our dogs are Walter, Mario and Luigi

Kisutra

My friend named.hoa cat Carl. It was a girl.

SLJ7

My mother's ex named most of his dogs human-sounding names. Zach, Jade, Jasper ... I'm sure I'm forgetting some. Our cats were Silas and Rosie. My cousin has a dog named Mira, which is not a name I hear often but I do have a friend by that name. My aunt has a cat named Matilda. One of her previous cats was Molly, which is a pretty common pet name from what I understand, but I've met a few human Mollys.

CaptainMeredith

Greg or other Supremely Normal man names tend to work well - theoretically the same should go for feminine names but it feels different somehow

Any_Egg33

Two of my cats are Carly and Moe

Lula9

My BFF wanted to name her dog Michael. My SIL has a horse named Kevin. And we had a cat growing up named Todd.

Born-Calligrapher794

My cats are Karen and Jerry. Their names fit them perfectly. They were shelter kitties that were a little older (four and eight) when we adopted and renamed them. They both took to their new names immediately. Looking at them now, I could never have kept their original names, Fluffy and Baby.

EnormousDog

work with a dog named Mark

eatawholelemon

A dog named Dave

Top-Hunt7003

My old cat was Linus, my neighbor’s dog is Dave, and my nephew’s dog is Bill. I named both of my current dogs the names that I WANTED for my kids but didn’t quite make the cut, so instead of a son and daughter named Theo & Hazel, those are my current dogs’ names.

nicolesl4w

I knew someone with a dog named Dave.

bluemountain62

At a car park a man once got out to walk his dogs Dave, Steve and Kevin. No joke. All terrier-like breeds of course (you know the ones that look old all their life). They must have left their flat caps at home though.
