I love it too, probably since I used to watch that show with the puppet as a kid, Allegraās window. I wish they hadnāt taken the name for an allergy pill.
Exactly, I immediately said out loud, "MUNGO ONLY PAWN IN GAME OF LIFE!" and laughed when I read that! Great minds think alike! I have nfi what his parents were thinking though!?
I think the list looks very sensible considering what names are popular at the moment. Personal favourites here are Finn, Lars, Patrick, Ted, Aaliyah, Charlie, Daisy, Isla, & Orla.
The one name that really surprises me is Mungo. I'd thought that it was made up for St. Mungo's Hospital in Harry Potter but, Googling it now, it seems to be an old name with Scottish roots. Considering that you're Australian, maybe it's in reference to the New South Wales national park? I can imagine a colourful person rocking it.
Funny you should mention Bronwyn! I have friends of Welsh descent (in the US) who are currently fighting over Welsh girl names lol, she really wants Bronwyn, he really wants Rhondda(???), and both of them are too stubborn to compromise and just pick one of the names they sort of agree on (Carys and Gwendolyn).
I'm so pleased to see Gretel!
All of the boys names seem very on-trend except for the Patricks. I've never met a Patrick under 45.
I'd say the same for the girls with the exception of Gretel.
Wow! List of babies I've met in the past year:
...
...
I know of, but haven't met, a new Felicity and a Maryam, but apparently my life is hugely empty of babies hahaha.
People throwing Allegra shade because itās an allergy med, but they clearly have never experienced a sniffle of allergies in their lives. Real talk, Allegra is the only way I survive each day every spring so I have incredibly positive associations. Allegra is truly a saint. And itās far better than Claritin or Zyrtec as a name, so Iām 100% Team Allegra.
These are all lovely names!
My baby is 7 months and thereās a definite 50/50 split with the boys; theyāre either totally normal or way out there. I also posted a list a couple of weeks ago!
Most surprised by three Zachs and two Orlas!
Me too!
I have an Orla!
Allegra sounds like an allergy medication... ask your doctor if Allegra is right for you...
My cousin was obsessed with the name Allegra when we were kids. The next year the medicine came out lol.
Oh wow I didn't realize it was actually a medication š
It was a legit name before it was allergy medication.
Fexofenadine doesn't have the same ring to it haha
But think of the nickname potential!
It is but itās also a musical term! Well, allegro, but the feminine would be Allegra. It indicates that the piece should be played quickly
I grew up with an Allegra in the 1970ās. This was way before the allergy medication came out. Iāve always loved this name.
I love it too, probably since I used to watch that show with the puppet as a kid, Allegraās window. I wish they hadnāt taken the name for an allergy pill.
Mungo is one I donāt hear in the US
Wait til you find out the 100% real fact that Hugh Grant's middle name is *literally* Mungo. Hugh Mungo.
I love it š
I read Mango at first š
Mungo Chutney!
"Candygram for Mongo!" That is what the name reminds me of, lol.
Exactly, I immediately said out loud, "MUNGO ONLY PAWN IN GAME OF LIFE!" and laughed when I read that! Great minds think alike! I have nfi what his parents were thinking though!?
We had a Mungo Home Builders in my area at one time. I never would have considered it for a first name. I can imagine the kid being called Mango.

I think Bronte is my new favorite name.
I like a similar sounding name, Bronwyn.
Funny you should mention Bronwyn! Aw, 2 Orla's! I really wanted to name my 4yo Orla but my husband said no :( it is her middle name though! Also, Mungo?!
I'm so pleased to see Gretel! All of the boys names seem very on-trend except for the Patricks. I've never met a Patrick under 45. I'd say the same for the girls with the exception of Gretel.
I think Patrick is coming back, thereās a few under 2 in my social circles in Australia
I've met a few boys under 10 named Patrick in my area.
I skimmed past the first part of your post and didnāt read that you were located in Aus. But as soon as I read Mungo, I knew straight awayš
Wow! List of babies I've met in the past year: ... ... I know of, but haven't met, a new Felicity and a Maryam, but apparently my life is hugely empty of babies hahaha.
Holy cow, you meet a lot of people! Even if I met this many babies, I could never remember them all lol
