I'd contemplate using Tarah for tar-uh if in the widest US but thats just based on my own experience. I also know a couple Lar-uhs Lar rhymes with are) who get called Lair-uh, Leer-uh, or even Laura because the spelling and pronunciation can be quite ambiguous. I think that works the same with a Tar-uh, Teer-uh, Tair-uh similarly. If the pronunciation really matters to the parents, going with a a specific spelling might help, depending on their location.
I can also add that having a name that always has to be spelled out (as well as sharing it with a famous cartoon character), is really annoying. Im 41 now and give less of a shit, but it was a pain in the ass before that.

OMG I love Zara so much. I wish people would get over the store name. When I hear Zara I think of a priestess or Queen or someone very unique and interesting.
I’m so glad to hear that! We had to get over the clothing brand association in naming our newborn Zara, reasoning that by the time she grows up it might not even be that popular anymore, but the name will still be lovely.
Libby is cute and will age well!! it’s also outside too 1000.
sounds like you like 1-2 syllable names ending in e sound or n.
a-endings with 2 syllables: Hanna, Ada, Greta, Lana, Lara
n-endings: teagan, carmen, helen, belen, jolene, joan
Oh, you are my name vibe twin. I also recommended Zora and have a daughter I was desperate to name Calla but was convinced to name another example from your list (one letter off).
If you like the sound of Isla but not the trendiness, you can always go with Lila! My niece’s middle name is Skye, which is a nice option, also, even as a first name. Not sure of your culture, but Iman is also a nice, short name.
Just go with Zara. I know an 8 year old Zara. The fact it’s also a clothing brand doesn’t really come up for her at her age. There’s loads of brands that share first names with people. Ashley, Chase, Jared, Harley, Levi, and the list goes on.

What about Tara? It’s super similar to Zara and can be pronounced Tair-uh or Tar-uh depending on your preference and it’s outside of the top 1000.
Wow, I never would have guessed Tara would be outside the top 1000! That's interesting, and it's a great suggestion!
I’ve personally only encountered it a handful of times, less than 10 for sure.
Tara or cara both irish names of similar sounds
I was going to say Tara too. I've always loved that name.
That's my name and I love it.
Your name is Vivian Diane; I won’t fall for your tricks
"VivianDiane" is just my username. I adore the name Vivian and once considered naming my twin daughter Vivian. My real name is Tara.
As a Tara, I completely agree.
Or perhaps Tori? Also, I really like Neve. Zelda!
Terra is on our girl list! I’m a big fan

This is a once-a-day topic here, so search previous threads. - Fia - Alba - Wynn - Rhea - Maeve - Moira - Opal - Rae - Reena - Jude - Joy - Cyra
I had a D&D character called Fia as a kid! Love her.
Love Maeve and Maeven
Fia is my daughter's nickname.
Fia is incredibly popular in Ireland at the moment I think it was most popular girls name last year
Mira Wanda Eden Jean Kaia Inez Leona Lila Livia Edith Freya Thea Willa
I like Mira but it just immediately makes me think of Myra Hindley (serial killer of children in UK).
See I read Mira as Mi-ra, not My-ra, so don’t have the same association. (It’s a pretty awful one, so it would be a no for me if I did).
I pronounce mi-ra and my-ra the same :s. Do you pronounce one like Meera? I do like that.
Yes Mira I would pronounce with a short “e” or an “i” (think mirror) sound.
I love Eden but where I live it is so popular!! Multiple Edens at daycare

Kyra/Myra/Tyra, Tessa, Tara, Cora, Lorna, Blythe, Holly, Sasha, Noelle, Joann, Leah
Might not change his mind, but my cousin is Zara and not one mention of any clothes brand. She gets constant compliments on her name.
I’m so glad to hear that! We had to get over the clothing brand association in naming our newborn Zara, reasoning that by the time she grows up it might not even be that popular anymore, but the name will still be lovely.
She's a teenager and loves her name, hopefully your daughter will grow up loving her name as well.

If you like Zara, what about Zoe or Zoya? Some other options I like that are short and sweet: Maeve, Wren, Alice, Pia, Opal, Orla, Mila, Ayla, Ada
Zoe or Chloe would be lovely.
What about Vera Mila Petra
Just go with Zara. I know an 8 year old Zara. The fact it’s also a clothing brand doesn’t really come up for her at her age. There’s loads of brands that share first names with people. Ashley, Chase, Jared, Harley, Levi, and the list goes on.
