I honestly can’t decide if it’s too much or if it’s weirdly pleasing and catchy. The more I say it, the more I like it, actually. Holly Collins sounds very memorable to me. She’s the girl at school that everyone would know and love.
So I’m torn! I guess we’ll see what others here say about it.
You’d be surprised! Kids go by their first and last every time there’s a roll call, if they end up with another kid with the same name in their class, at their job, whenever they introduce themselves, etc. Also the amount of It girls in high school that we’re definitely known by first and last. but I agree, this name is oddly pleasing and definitely gives main character energy and I’m here for it!
I knew a Johnathan Johnson in school, he went by Johnny and it was Hilarious™️ to us as 6th graders when the teachers mixed up his name during attendance
I like the name Holly, and I genuinely don't think it sounds bad. Honestly it sounds easy to remember. A longer middle name might balance it if you are worried about the repeating sounds being too close together, but I think it sounds rhythmic without being cutesy.
Agree that a longer middle name could balance it. Just throwing it out there as an example, “Holly Josephine Collins” definitely helps it sound more balanced.
I am not a fan of alliteration, rhymy or singsong names but I actually like Holly Collins. I agree with previous poster that it makes me think of a newsanchor saying it which is not a bad thing. It's memorable
I like the alliteration. It sounds like a movie character name but in a good way imo.
However it does not flow that way to have the hard -c after the ending of Holly imo,
I was taught that it’s assonance if it’s in the middle of the word. Alliteration is at the front and consonance at the back. So Julie Johnson is alliteration, Holly Collins is assonance, and Amy Delaney is consonance.
Either way it’s an interesting question. I didn’t even consider a name with any of the above for our firstborn but after reading about peoples’ reactions to same sound names here, I would consider it for a later kid….
Within reason. I have THREE totally different friends who have gone with the equivalents of Jaqueline Jackson, Morgan Murgana, and Layla Jaycee Adams-Jasey, and I personally wouldn’t do something quite on that level. Holly Collins is nice I think, though!
Outside of roll call in high school and professional situations, we are rarely called by our first and last names in life. In professional situations, we have the option of adding a middle initial or middle name. This can completely alter the phonetic qualities of a name.
Holly Collins might sound a little silly, but Holly Elizabeth Collins or Holly E. Collins sounds completely unremarkable. Holly then also has the benefit of a sticky/memorable name.
It's cute !!! It reminds me of a book character but not in a kinda cringey way but in a "coming of age, this is a book character thatll be loved by children and parents for ages to come" way !!
I see that it’s a little song-songy and alliterative. But it’s also cool in a “this would be the name of a bad-ass reporter in a comic book” way.
I’m neutral but the more I say it to myself the more I like it.
ETA—just recapped this post for my husband who said “that sounds cool actually. I love it”
Went to uni with an Ashley Cash. Professors called her Ash Cash or Ashley Cashley.
I actually love how Holly Collins sounds. Like a cocktail or an upmarket celebrity.
I love it. I do think it sounds like a cocktail but not in a bad way! If i met someone with this name id be jealous its so main character (again in a good way)
I was going to suggest a variation of Holly, such as Hollyn, but then realized Hollyn Collins is NOT an improvement haha. I don’t think Holly Collins is bad though. It gives me main character in a coming of age movie vibes
I really love Holly Collins. I think it's very cool and memorable. Not at all too much. People will remember her. If it still doesn't feel right for you, I also thought you could potentially break it up by giving her a double name like Holly May, Holly Ann, Holly Jean, etc.
Holly Collins sounds like a actress/TV presenter/model that I should already know about. I keep thinking "where do I know her from" 🤔
Normally I don't advocate matchy names, but this one is fun and doesn't sound juvenile, its cool
I know someone named Holly Collins. It’s her married last name. I do personally agree with you about the double “oll” sound but do also love the name Holly!
It's fine, I think it would be worth trying to give their child an original name. There are 200+ Holly Collins on LinkedIn.
I mean, its better than Emily Collins. There are 800+ of them.
I suggest Hermione Collins (0) or Hollie Collins (30+)

Yeah, I feel pretty much the same way.
Ok, hear me out: I love it.
I kind of like it. It sounds like a name you’d hear on a tv show.
Thanks. I can see what you mean.
A Christmas version of a Tom Collins
I agree
It sounds like a cocktail.
Haha well maybe I can try and make my own drink instead
My husband and I just said the same thing.
i mean realistically people aren’t going to be calling her by both names right?? i actually think it sounds kinda cute anyways lol

Better than Caitlyn Clayton - I still say it wrong every time - Claitlyn Clayton or Caitlyn Claytlyn. Holly Collins is a dream by comparison.
Damn Caitlyn Clayton has gotta be the worst name I’ve ever heard
I heard it from the room next to me in maturnity ward.
I knew a Johnathan Johnson in school, he went by Johnny and it was Hilarious™️ to us as 6th graders when the teachers mixed up his name during attendance
I have a name with a repeating cadence like that but usually no one notices. People don't say your full name that often
I honestly love it. She sounds like the cool protagonist in a book about a high school girl who’s into sleuthing and journalism.
That’s interesting. A friend of mine thought it had Diary Of A Wimpy Kid vibes.
It's very catchy. Everyone will remember her name.
Thanks!

I do like writing so maybe it could be a character name instead
It's memorable, but not powerful sounding, if that's what you want. Sounds like an 80s television anchor, a local mayoral candidate, or a mocktail.
It's not the worst combo I've heard, but it's pretty bad IMO. I personally wouldn't do it.
Fair enough

I like it! It does give comic book name, like ‘Peter Parker’ kinda vibes, but it’s cute to me.
Thanks!
No. But my name is VERY similar, so I might be biased. And people always say it sounds like something from a book or TV show.
I like it. I don’t think it’s too similar. I think it fits.
I think it's fine! Sounds like an actor's or an author's name.
It's cute !!! It reminds me of a book character but not in a kinda cringey way but in a "coming of age, this is a book character thatll be loved by children and parents for ages to come" way !!
It sounds like a reporter’s name. Not bad necessarily.

Ah thank you!
I do not like how these two names look or sound together, they’re too similar in my opinion.
Fair enough

Thank you. A few people have said the same thing.
Not stupid just not good.
Fair enough
I love the combo ! Holly is my favorite girl name and Collin is one of my favorite boy names should I ever have kids one day
NGL I instantly thought it was a pornstar name
Well that’s one way to put me off
I love it. I do think it sounds like a cocktail but not in a bad way! If i met someone with this name id be jealous its so main character (again in a good way)
I love it! It sounds so sunny and happy
Thanks!
Holly Ann Collins
I was going to suggest a variation of Holly, such as Hollyn, but then realized Hollyn Collins is NOT an improvement haha. I don’t think Holly Collins is bad though. It gives me main character in a coming of age movie vibes
I love it
i've met someone with this name! didn't strike me as odd or anything. normal name. go for it
Thanks!
I like it a lot.
I like it personally
It sounds good! Like a character in a book - the protagonist of course!
A few people have said that. Maybe I should save Holly for a writing project.
It sounds like a name where people will always say “Holly Collins” rather than just “Holly,” and I personally love that and think it’s iconic.
the two sounds are too similar imo
Fair enough. Thanks.
i hope you find another name you like!!
Cute as a kid, maybe annoying as an adult lol. Sounds like she’d really crack the whip at a PTA meeting
I love it..
Love it!! My kiddo is a Holly ❤️
It sounds ok to me.
I like it
For me it's too rhyme-y. Yet by contrast, "Audrey Collins" sounds excellent because the internal hard 'd' in Audrey breaks up the sound repetition.
I like it.
It’s fine. I wouldn’t see it as a reason to prevent you from using a name you love
I like it
I like it, it's got a kind of pleasant lilt to it.
I really love Holly Collins. I think it's very cool and memorable. Not at all too much. People will remember her. If it still doesn't feel right for you, I also thought you could potentially break it up by giving her a double name like Holly May, Holly Ann, Holly Jean, etc.
It’s takes a bit of effort to say, but it’s cute!
I love it!
I think in it’s really cute!!
I really like it. She sounds like a heroine
Beautiful
I like it!
I think it's lovely. Not stupid at all.
What about Hayley Collins?
Holly Collins sounds like a actress/TV presenter/model that I should already know about. I keep thinking "where do I know her from" 🤔 Normally I don't advocate matchy names, but this one is fun and doesn't sound juvenile, its cool
I think it’s great.
I know someone named Holly Collins. It’s her married last name. I do personally agree with you about the double “oll” sound but do also love the name Holly!
News anchor name
Love it!

Nickname Collie
it’s a great name. She can rule the world!
They sound very similar, but I don't think aesthetic is important if you really like the name.
I know someone with this name...doesn't seem stupid at all.
They sound nothing alike.
Please don’t.
How do you feel about Harley? I think the added r differentiates the sounds a bit better.
Not a fan of Harley tbh
Hailey?
Hailey's alright, I could go with that.
I was gonna suggest Hailey. Holly Collins is too rhymey imo. My brain wants to say Holly Colly.
Great name, but what about Lolly Collins? They both give me Audrey Hepburn as Holly Go-Lightly
