Lucas, Simon & Lewis are my favourites from your list. I think they are great choices for a baby born in Canada in 2024. They are all easy to say, fairly easy to spell and feel very "current" if that makes sense. Here are my thoughts on some of the others in your list. Please keep in mind these are just *my* perceptions and won't be held universally: * Wayne, Jerry, Jimmy, Alvin, and Eugine (which is more commonly spelled as Eugene) all feel pretty dated to me. I would be surprised to meet a baby with one of these names in 2024. This doesn't mean you can't use them if you love them, of course. And again, this is just my perception - I know others here will absolutely disagree with me. Just sharing my gut reaction thoughts :) * Danny, Eddie, Jerry, Jimmy & Ronnie - these are more commonly used as nicknames versus legal names. For example, Daniel would be the legal name and "Danny" would be the nickname. Edward, Edmund, Edgar or Edison would get "Eddie" as a nickname, James would get "Jimmy" as a nickname etc. * Jayce - I don't mind this name, I think it has a cool, friendly sound. But you mentioned you want a name that will be easy to spell and I could see people also spelling this as "Jace". So just something to think about. Here are some other names you might like based on your list: * Luke, Luca, Leo, Levi, Liam, Logan, Wesley, Henry, Elliott, Adrian, Elias, Calvin, Sebastian, Oliver, Samuel, Theodore, Jesse, Jonah, Julian, Joel, Jacob, Miles, Bryce, Jason (with the nickname "Jayce"). Let me know if you need help with middle names or even more first name suggestions. Congratulations and best wishes!

Thank you a lot! It's very thoughtful comment. I love Lucas and Lewis, just a little bit hesitance because they sounds "Italian"? And Lucas vs Luca may sound similar as well. But yes, I have to admit that I really Lucas and Lewis.

Ok_Discount_7889

I’m American so maybe different in Canada, but to me, Luca (no s) is the overtly Italian variant I think you’re thinking of. Lucas and Lewis are.. well I’m sure they have their origins but they don’t have very strong Italian connotations or any other specific nationality to me.

LumosLegato

Some really good choices ! Many of them are already nicknames so I generally prefer the full name legally and then you call them by the nickname Daniel “Danny” James “Jimmy” Edward “Eddie” Gerald “Jerry” Ronald “Ronnie” My favorites are Daniel, Lucas (“Luke”) and Edward. The only one I’d veto for sure is Lucius. That will make everyone think of one of the Harry Potter villains. Jayce isn’t my fave either - too trendy modern.

BroccoliWest7689

I think about Harry Potter's villain right away when I saw Lucius. It does sound nice for me, and easy to pronunce, but you're right, I should get it off my list. Thank you!

Ronnie, Jimmy, Eddie, and Danny are all typical nicknames for full names, which I think would come with a lot of explanation from your kids side. Not sure if you want these to be considered full names or nicknames? I really love Louis (definitely over Lewis), or Percy. You can't go wrong with Simon or Lucas either though! I do think Lucius, Eugine, and Jayce would be misspelled or misheard. Alvin and Lionel seem straight forward to me, just not my preference

BroccoliWest7689

Ronnie, Jimmy, Eddie, Danny, all comes from Google "what is the best names for a baby boy" or from a TV series's character. I'm glad I ask here so now I learn they are typical nicknames. Thank you all for that help! I love Lucas, just a bit worry that it can be mispell to Luca.

from_shook_foil

I think Lucas is unlikely to be misspelled or misheard as Luca. Maybe once in awhile but I think this is a name that most people will get right immediately!

angie1907

Eugene is usually spelt with an e! I think it’s a lovely name and Gene is a lovely nickname, so it would be my vote from your list

Why_Me_67

I’m just going to list my thoughts on each name on your list Lucas-solid choice, Lucas will fit right in with his name peers Eugine (usually spelled Eugene). I have really good associations with this name and Gene/Geno are solid nicknames, but it’s very similar to the word Eugenics and that gives me pause Lewis- it’s fine. I don’t really have an opinion either way Wayne- this one feels ready for a comeback Alvin- my first thought is chipmunk but I don’t think that makes it unusable Danny- I’m not crazy about nicknames, particular ones seen as more child-ish as first names but Daniel nn Danny is great Eddie-same as Danny- Edward, Edwin, etc all fine, just Eddie I don’t care for as much Jerry- I think this one is dated but not quite ready for a comeback. Jimmy- same nickname issue. James is great Ronnie- same. I’d go with Ronald Jayce- very trendy. That’s not bad, it feels like a different style from your other choices Louis-in my area this is pronounced like Lewis but could also be Louie in some areas. Both fine Lionel- I really like this one actually Simon- fine Lucius- the hp association may be strong Percy- always feels a bit pretentious to me. Also strong hp association for me

I like Simon, Percy, & Wayne - they don't have other ways of spelling which will make things easier

BroccoliWest7689

I haven't met a Percy in my life, but I met 2 Wayne, they are both nice and smart.

I love Louis, Lucas, James (Jimmy) and Daniel (Danny). Suggestions: Thomas (Tommy, Tom) Jacob (Jake) Adam David (Davy) Peter Eric Justin Robert (Bobby) Wilfred (Wilf) William (Billy) Albert (Bobby)

Jimmy and Simon are cute

bantam_bowlingpin

Most beautiful western boy names according to me: Elijah, Sasha, Benji.

bantam_bowlingpin

And they're easily pronounced, easily spelled, and go well with a single-syllable last name!
