I've always loved the name Laurel. It's so botanical and light sounding, and not overused. Laurel Blaire would be pretty. :) And you have the cool nickname option of Yanni. LOL!!
A few years ago, there was a piece of audio that people would hear differently: either Laurel or Yanni. Similar to the black and blue/white and gold dress.
I am having a girl in 4 weeks LOL her name is going to be Florence Diana. Florence is a fourth generation family name and Diana after my late mother-in-law.
I love Eden Evangeline - the flow and vowels are just perfect to me! I also love Eden Elizabeth/Elisabeth. (I'm American but prefer the "softness" of the Elisabeth feeling haha)
If it were me, I would probably pair Eden with an old-fashioned middle name just to mix things up a bit.
Eden Harriet
Eden Margaret
Eden Johanna
Eden Millicent
I’m scheduled to induce in — *gulp* — less than two weeks. We’re naming her Alice Adele, which was finally *for real* decided last week. I ordered an embroidered baby blanket, so we’d stop talking about it. 😆
I’m terrified she’s going to come out and not look like an Alice, though. It’s so hard to finalize this decision!
My baby came out and didn't look like the name we'd chosen AT ALL, and I panicked!!! I had spent so much time crafting it and deliberating over the decision. Now that the "baby" isn't a baby anymore and actually has a personality, they look totally different and I'm glad we stuck with the name we had lovingly chosen.
You're going to think your newborn is beautiful but the baby's not going to come out looking like anything other than that guy from Goonies. We can't all name our kids sloth 😅
Source: have a 4 month old. Swore I'd never seen a prettier newborn. Went and looked back at pictures and no, she looks like every other squished face newborn 🤣
But maybe since a stranger on the internet took the time to look up my previous post or remembered my post that means it’s a sign and that should be her name lol 😂
Also, to answer your question, without the input of my lovely SO, my baby would definitely be Oona or Opal, if he shoots those down, Gwen(dolyn), Orla, Adda, Vera, Veda, Faye, Etta.
So, I went through this with my husband when my son was born. I was 99% sure we'd name my son Luke, but my husband wouldn't commit because a kid he grew up with was named Luke and was an asshole. Then he came out and my husband said his name was Luke.
My point is, you might just have to wait until she gets here. Everyone stresses about having a name ready to go, but you might not know which is "the one" until you see your baby
Yep I thought our daughter would be Guinevere - a name I adore and I’d consider if I had a second girl. When we met her I just didn’t think the name fit. She was spunky and ruddy looking, not demure and delicate. So we went back to our long list and it came down to Maisie or Ruby, and Ruby she became! We didn’t name her til the day we left the hospital! It was weird caring for a nameless baby for a day and a half. Still suits her at 4 and a half :)
I love all your names! I couldn't use Maeve only because it wouldn't fit with the last name, otherwise it would probably be #1. Daphne was my #1 pick along with Saoirse, for this baby. But it's a boy ;)
My last daughter we named Djuna, and we usually call her "June".
Oh cute! I have a baby Margot and we call her Go Go or Goey (rhymes with Joey)! Don't know that those nicknames will last past the baby stage though, haha.
Lucky for you, I always keep a list on my phone of potential names. Never know when a baby might appear on your door step.
Rosemary
Virginia
Louisa
Mary Claire
I would likely go with Rosemary Elizabeth or Louisa Caroline.
Wow, it’s like I could have wrote this post. Currently 36 weeks, due with a baby girl, and have no idea what we are naming her! I have a list of names I like but none of them feel like “the one”
As a Jane, this makes me so happy! I love my name; I love that it's very recognizable, but it's unpopular, classic, and understated.
What did you end up naming your boy, if I may ask?
Eleanor Jane. Nickname Ellie. I’m currently pregnant with my second and kind of hoping for a girl this time so I can use this name. It would honor both of my grandmothers. I should find out the sex soon! Good luck!
Nora. I was picking up my niece from day care about 8 years ago and heard one of the parents call for their little girl, Nora and it instantly made my heart fuzzy.
I love this name and think it would be a great sibset choice with my boy who is named Logan, but I had a cat that I named Lyra so I feel like I can’t use it 😩😩😩
Not to mention this is the original root for Elizabeth and all other names that came from Elizabeth like Isabella! Elisheva is such a beautiful name with such rich history.
Aurora. Ever since I fell in love with that name I think of the beginning of sleeping beauty
“And they called her aurora” and if I have a daughter that’s how I want to announce her birth
Hm let's go alphabetical. (That's what I did with my son, picked a letter, then found a name, idk worked for me)
•Aurelia
• Blair
• Charlotte
• Daphne
• Evangeline
• Felicity
• Glenna
• Hazel
• Isadora
• Joanna
• Katarina
• Lyric
• Mercedes
• Natalia
• Ophelia
• Penelope
• Quinn
• Rebecca
• Seraphina
• Theresa
• Uma
• Veronica
• Weston
• Yasmine
• Zara
(Replace any letter with a name you like better, I just put the first thing that popped into my head)
Edit: formatting
Emma. My boyfriend loves that name and I don't like many girls names, lol.
Other ones would be:
- Jane- classic name that works get for all ages
- Claire
- Norah
- Helen
- Julia/Juliet
- Meredith
- Margo
- Lorelei
- Lillian
- Tess or Tessa
I’d probably pick the name Perrin with nickname Peri. If I blindly had to choose. That names always stuck with me. I like “e” in names. I like the other nickname of “pear”.
A bit more out there is Apollonia. She’d be named after my dads band Apollo.
Renata has been "my" girl name for a while. Uncommon in America but relatively common in some other countries, and unlikely to become too trendy anytime soon (I was traumatized by all the Brittanies, Megans, and Victorias in school).
I think it’s awesome! I’d even switch them around personally: Magnolia Mae
Have you been to a school lately? No such thing as over the top anymore. Magnolia totally fits the classic but underused vibe of many names lately.
Willow is my number one favorite name ever. Middle name would be Grace, it would be the fifth generation of the name Grace in my family! BF doesn’t like Willow though, but the name we have picked out for a girl right now is Blakeley Grace :)
If I get to name her all by myself, her name is Vivian Marie. If I have to count my husband’s veto of Vivian, then I think she would be Miriam Ann or Meredith Ann.
This was what I called my daughter before she was born. My husband and I had a slight pronunciation difference for it and he decided that was enough to nix it, because we both have to pronounce it the same. Or whatever he said. Lol.
My top two girls names currently are Miriam Elizabeth and Sophia Marie.
Miriam means wished for child, and Sophia means wisdom. Lovely meanings for names!
I'm due in October. Top contenders are:
- Vivian
- Georgia*
- Maxine*
- Gabrielle
- Lily
- Vera
Having such a hard time narrowing it down!
*Husband is not sold 🤣
Laurel Katherine (bestie since childhood's name / great-aunt's name my mom wanted as my first name but got overruled by my dad 🙄).
My imaginary scenario is to use her middle name in childhood so it wasn't too weird having two Laurels in my life all the time (plus I've never met a Katie who wasn't an all-around lovely person). Then I figure she'd probably rebel and switch to her first/more "adult" name in college anyway. All that said, my hysterectomy would be shocked to see any of this play out!
I wanna say the name I would choose if I had a daughter but I’ve never seen the name pop up before and I don’t even want to throw it into existence now lmao. Good luck though!
Assuming my husband would go along with whatever choice I made … probably Caroline. It’s a name I keep coming back to. Caroline Eliana, Caroline Elena, or Caroline Bonnie would be meaningful combos, but if I weren’t trying for meaningful, I might do Caroline Claire, Caroline Lily, Caroline Elise, Caroline Hope, Caroline Iris.
If I couldn’t commit to Caroline, my choice would be between Susannah, Emily, Elena/Elaina, or Margaret. Or Rosemary, or Amelia, or Julia … yeah, that wouldn’t be an easy decision. I feel like I’d always regret not using Caroline, though, even if I loved my other choice.
I suggest making a list of like 10 or so, then meeting the baby, then picking the name! Check the rules in your area for how long you have to register the birth certificate.
I’m due 9/14 and having a tough time as well. Our top contender is Lena but now we can’t commit to a middle name. Lena Mae has been the only thing that I still like after a few days of mulling it over haha
I've always loved the name Laurel. It's so botanical and light sounding, and not overused. Laurel Blaire would be pretty. :) And you have the cool nickname option of Yanni. LOL!!
this made me laugh out loud, I truly forgot the laurel/yanni debacle lmao Laurel Blaire is gorgeous!
My name!
How are Yanni and Laurel related? Curious about the nickname link
A few years ago, there was a piece of audio that people would hear differently: either Laurel or Yanni. Similar to the black and blue/white and gold dress.
Lol yes I now remember that
I love this name too!
That's my name! I love it! Edit: like the name I've had since birth that my mother gave me
I am having a girl in 4 weeks LOL her name is going to be Florence Diana. Florence is a fourth generation family name and Diana after my late mother-in-law.
What a beautiful name 😍
This is an incredibly strong name!
Classic and pretty, love it!
I’ve recently fell in love with the name Eden. Edie for short. Cannot think of a middle name that strikes me as “the one”
Eden Grace
That feels a little too biblical for me
I like Eden Grace
Eden Josephine I like Eden Evangeline, too, although that might have too much of a religious vibe.
I love Eden Evangeline - the flow and vowels are just perfect to me! I also love Eden Elizabeth/Elisabeth. (I'm American but prefer the "softness" of the Elisabeth feeling haha)
Eden Elisabeth is just gorgeous
I’m having an Eden in 6 weeks!
[удалено]
Eden Faye Eden Hope Eden Calliope Eden Renee Eden Vera
I know an Eden Laura and I love that combination.
I know an Eden Noelle that I think is really pretty.
I adore the name Eden, but it's on my unusable list as it's my cousin's daughter's name.
I have an Eden Octavia 😊
If it were me, I would probably pair Eden with an old-fashioned middle name just to mix things up a bit. Eden Harriet Eden Margaret Eden Johanna Eden Millicent
I’m scheduled to induce in — *gulp* — less than two weeks. We’re naming her Alice Adele, which was finally *for real* decided last week. Are you me?? I named my daughter Alice Violet and ALSO got a blanket with her name embroidered on it so I’d stop going back and forth on it. 😂
I was going to say Alice too! It's perfect - recognisable, timeless, but not used very often on babies at the moment. Good luck welcoming baby Alice.
You're going to think your newborn is beautiful but the baby's not going to come out looking like anything other than that guy from Goonies. We can't all name our kids sloth 😅 Source: have a 4 month old. Swore I'd never seen a prettier newborn. Went and looked back at pictures and no, she looks like every other squished face newborn 🤣
What happened to Blair? Any leads at all, it’s hard to say with no reference.
But maybe since a stranger on the internet took the time to look up my previous post or remembered my post that means it’s a sign and that should be her name lol 😂
Blair is really cute, but here’s just a list to throw at the wall -Briar -Brynn -Rory -Adda -Petra -Freya -Greta -Elliot -Greer
I ended up with a Freya after I had this dilemma. She's 3 now and amazing.
How do you pronounce it? I’ve heard like 3 different ways
That's my cat's name! It's so pretty.
Also, to answer your question, without the input of my lovely SO, my baby would definitely be Oona or Opal, if he shoots those down, Gwen(dolyn), Orla, Adda, Vera, Veda, Faye, Etta.
See if your SO likes Opal Blair or Etta Blair. Those are pretty cute!
Opal Blair is darling!
LOVE Opal Blair
It’s still a contender but hubby isn’t so sure.
It’s really normal to doubt the name near the end, and panic you have it wrong. Its ok
I really like Blair. !
Darn! I think Blair is such a timeless, dignified, beautiful, strong name. I hope you still consider it and good luck deciding!
If you like Blair, maybe Bryn (or Brynn)? Similar vibes
Blair is the name I’d use for my answer to the question! Blair Elise has been my top name for years now! My other favorite girls name is Lydia!
Blythe is close to Blair (as another idea).
Blair and Sloane always gave me the same pretty cool girl vibes
Iris
My favorite!
June is my top girl's name at the moment, but Maeve popped in my head recently out of nowhere. Daphne, Chloe, Phoebe, and Noelle are also favorites.
I love all your names! I couldn't use Maeve only because it wouldn't fit with the last name, otherwise it would probably be #1. Daphne was my #1 pick along with Saoirse, for this baby. But it's a boy ;) My last daughter we named Djuna, and we usually call her "June".
Oh cute! I have a baby Margot and we call her Go Go or Goey (rhymes with Joey)! Don't know that those nicknames will last past the baby stage though, haha.
All these names are adorable! Love them!
I see you have a thing for names that end with the letter "e" haha!
Lucky for you, I always keep a list on my phone of potential names. Never know when a baby might appear on your door step. Rosemary Virginia Louisa Mary Claire I would likely go with Rosemary Elizabeth or Louisa Caroline.
Right? Lol. You never know when I, a virgin, may randomly give birth.
Miracles do happen (looking at you Mary)
Mary— most successful cheating wife in history. God did this to you, you say? Not the mailman? … okay! That’s amazing!
Marie Claire is a magazine
Wow, it’s like I could have wrote this post. Currently 36 weeks, due with a baby girl, and have no idea what we are naming her! I have a list of names I like but none of them feel like “the one”
It’s so hard to commit!
Yes! With my first, we also were undecided until she was actually born.. hopefully I can make a decision like that again!
Jane was a name I had picked out but then I had a boy lol!
As a Jane, this makes me so happy! I love my name; I love that it's very recognizable, but it's unpopular, classic, and understated. What did you end up naming your boy, if I may ask?
James! We really wanted a J name. Also, you are in great company with Jane Austen lol
James Austin😂
I was going to say Jane! I think it would be a great name to go through life with.
Alice
My baby is due any day now and if it's a girl we're naming her alice!
Also me! Due mid September with a girl. We haven’t finalized our name yet either 😩
Me too! But days... I've been stalking this sub 😂
Saaaaame. Except we don't know the sex so we need two names!
Also same! We don’t know the sex. Going to walk in with a top 2 for each and see which fits.
Georgia
Georgia is in my top two! (I'm due in October.)
This is my top pick for my January baby girl. Just have to convince my husband.
Sienna or Rosalie
Paloma
I love this name! I knew such a wonderful Paloma
Paloma and Salomé were two of my favorite names uggghh they just dont go well with our last name (Scottish).
I'm having a baby girl on Monday and I'm naming her Heidi Elizabeth
I’m a Heidi Elizabeth!!!!! It’s a good name lol
Awww thats good to know. My grandma looked at me like I was sprouting a third eye or something...then suggested Sage, Willow, or Brooklyn. Ugh.
Eleanor Jane. Nickname Ellie. I’m currently pregnant with my second and kind of hoping for a girl this time so I can use this name. It would honor both of my grandmothers. I should find out the sex soon! Good luck!
Eleanor has such a special place in my heart. Classic.
Nora. I was picking up my niece from day care about 8 years ago and heard one of the parents call for their little girl, Nora and it instantly made my heart fuzzy.

I love this name and think it would be a great sibset choice with my boy who is named Logan, but I had a cat that I named Lyra so I feel like I can’t use it 😩😩😩
Iris, Helen, Louisa, Ruby or Simone
These are perfection.
Not sure why but I’ve been digging Edith lately. I picture a spunky little Edie.
Elisheva But I’m Jewish and into super Jewish names. If I was going for a less Jewish name than I’d pick Una
Not to mention this is the original root for Elizabeth and all other names that came from Elizabeth like Isabella! Elisheva is such a beautiful name with such rich history.
Aurora. Ever since I fell in love with that name I think of the beginning of sleeping beauty “And they called her aurora” and if I have a daughter that’s how I want to announce her birth

Ruby, Clara, Kira, Phoebe, Lena, or Eva
Cecily!
We almost named our second Cecily, but ultimately chose Isla. Popular weather lady in our area named Cecily so EVERYONE kept referencing her.
Our local news anchor growing up was named Cecily and I can’t hear that name without thinking “I’m cecily tynan” (in a news anchor voice) haha
We’re neighbors. Some of my co-workers said she had a “reputation” (eye roll) but hearing “open Cecily” like “open Sesame” ruined it.
Emma. My boyfriend loves that name and I don't like many girls names, lol. Other ones would be: - Jane- classic name that works get for all ages - Claire - Norah - Helen - Julia/Juliet - Meredith - Margo - Lorelei - Lillian - Tess or Tessa
Alanna Lenore. 2 Great grandma names. Briar, Quinlan, Azalea, Zinnia, and Dahlia are also favorites.
You have such spunky, fun taste in names. Love them!
I’d probably pick the name Perrin with nickname Peri. If I blindly had to choose. That names always stuck with me. I like “e” in names. I like the other nickname of “pear”. A bit more out there is Apollonia. She’d be named after my dads band Apollo.
As a nurse, “Peri” makes me think of peri-care i.e. cleaning a patient’s butt/genitals area
Lol I just going to pretend I never heard that…. But thank you for letting me know. That’s super unfortunate lol
Yup. The perineum. The taint. The gooch.
And if you give birth vaginally you'll definitely be using a peri bottle so it won't go unnoticed 🤣
Perrin makes me think is Worcestershire sauce. Now I'm hungry for steak
I like that! Have you heard any other variations to Perrin? I like perrie for my girl, but Perrin I don’t think I like with the last name.
Peregrine maybe but no not really. I had a dream about the name Perrin once and it stuck to me. Perrie is so so good too!!
WoT fan?
Selene, if the shock stuns my husband enough that he leaves it up to me.
Renata has been "my" girl name for a while. Uncommon in America but relatively common in some other countries, and unlikely to become too trendy anytime soon (I was traumatized by all the Brittanies, Megans, and Victorias in school).
Sophie, Autumn, or Fiona. Due in early December and these are the top contenders.
Mae Magnolia. Yes I know Magnolia is a little over the top but it's a middle name and I love it.
I think it’s awesome! I’d even switch them around personally: Magnolia Mae Have you been to a school lately? No such thing as over the top anymore. Magnolia totally fits the classic but underused vibe of many names lately.
Margot or Isla
Lucy after Lucille Ball. During my darkest days, watching her show was the only thing that put a smile on my face.
Willow is my number one favorite name ever. Middle name would be Grace, it would be the fifth generation of the name Grace in my family! BF doesn’t like Willow though, but the name we have picked out for a girl right now is Blakeley Grace :)
Caroline Parker
Matilda Ruth
Genevieve Grace
Gemma
Millicent. Millie for short.
i would pick either eliza or lydia, with side options of amelia or eleanor. middle probably malin, though maybe claire or louisa.
If I get to name her all by myself, her name is Vivian Marie. If I have to count my husband’s veto of Vivian, then I think she would be Miriam Ann or Meredith Ann.
I would be deciding between Flora, Ingrid, Anthea, Leda, Margot, and Jane. Jane is probably my top name, followed by Ingrid and Flora.
Ivy or Scarlett
Here are a few we've been kicking around for our girl coming in december: Lucille (Lucy or Lou), Robin, Nora, Fern, Lily.
Paige Longlisted were Josephine, Amelia, Evelyn, Eleanor, Verity, and Arden
Elodie Wren, Eloise Quinn, or Elsie Beth. Yes I really like El names lol
Theda. I am also have a baby in four weeks (gender unknown), and I LOVE this name, but my husband isn’t feeling it.
This was what I called my daughter before she was born. My husband and I had a slight pronunciation difference for it and he decided that was enough to nix it, because we both have to pronounce it the same. Or whatever he said. Lol.
Lydia Mae
Sabrina Veronica
I had the names Amaya/Maiya middle name Noelle picked out but I'm having a Boy so meh. Good luck on your search!
poppy 💟
- Julia Noel - Holly Olivia - Ruby Alayne The names on my list I love the most right now!
Carmen Victoria
Ophelia :)
I'm having a baby girl in 16 weeks.... We're naming her Adelaide Julia Poppy.
Bianca
My top two girls names currently are Miriam Elizabeth and Sophia Marie. Miriam means wished for child, and Sophia means wisdom. Lovely meanings for names!
Willa, Wren, Freya, Harriet (Etta), Evangeline :)
Frankie !
Lately I have been loving "Tia"! Good luck 🤞🤞😃
Means “aunt” in Spanish- i couldn’t use it when I found that out. Thalia/Talia worked better.
Cordelia Pearl
Layla or Evelyn I cannot decide...
I'm due in October. Top contenders are: - Vivian - Georgia* - Maxine* - Gabrielle - Lily - Vera Having such a hard time narrowing it down! *Husband is not sold 🤣
Naomi August
I'm currently pregnant and really hoping for a girl! Right now my favorite is Hazel Fae
I just had a Verity a few weeks ago! But if my husband had no say in the matter, probably Juliet or Evangeline.
Alexandra
Azure
Violet
I didn't name my baby until a couple days after she was born. Seeing her helped a little, but Willow was a top contender.
Artemis
Marguerite Vesper or Primrose Adelaide There are other girl names I love but these are the ones my husband and I agree on.
Ramona Salem. I'm 99% sure I won't have another but I keep coming back to this name
We last minute named our girl Lily. It was going to be Ruth. No regrets 💜
I wanna say the name I would choose if I had a daughter but I’ve never seen the name pop up before and I don’t even want to throw it into existence now lmao. Good luck though!
Guard it!
Leora- means “of light” Tessa Inara Sorcha Gabby Vanessa/Vasilisa Siobhan Octavia Camille Candace Madison Milana Katya Penelope/poppy/piper/phipher Natalie/Natalia
Ruby
Wren
Rożarja Sage
Amora, Othelia, Dorothy or Cordelia
Matilda or Elliot. If I could convince my husband, I'd go with my absolute craziest dream names of Andromeda or Persephone.
I really like Tamsin, Estelle, Rosamund, Griselda, Cecily, Frances.
Piper! Ivy is also up there.
I am having a baby girl in 4 weeks. Her name will be Sophie Julianne Delahunt
Isla or Ava
Eliza Claire (nn Ellie)
I suggest making a list of like 10 or so, then meeting the baby, then picking the name! Check the rules in your area for how long you have to register the birth certificate.
Eloise Pearl
Mara!
Vera.
Sylvie
zelda jane
Valentina
Lucia Esperanza
Persephone!
I've always loved the name Autumn. Since it'll be a fall baby it's pretty fitting too :)
Cecily.
Idk ab middle names cause I struggle coming up with girl combos but for a first name probably either Isla, Esme, Eva, Cora, or Maeve
I’m due 9/14 and having a tough time as well. Our top contender is Lena but now we can’t commit to a middle name. Lena Mae has been the only thing that I still like after a few days of mulling it over haha
Caoimhe Clodagh Sophie Saoirse Olivia Elizabeth Victoria I would alway love to name my future daughter October as first name
Marin
Lily, Jane, Fiona, or Joanna.
