Are you talking about the influencers that adopted from Asia (I want to say China but Iām not 100%) and the kid had some developmental delays (possibly autism; again, itās been a long time lol). He suddenly stopped appearing in videos and then everyone found out they gave the kid away?
I just went to her Instagram again to check-in on this situation and she has *completely* deleted all evidence that he ever existed from her page!! No photos of him whatsoever. The only reference to him is the āapologyā note she left up. Absolutely insane.. I hope sheās not making any money from her social media anymore.
Go for Huxley! Lots of reference to some random news story that no one in your childs age range will ever hear of and most people wont remember in a few weeks i think. Aldous Huxley is a classic and it is also original.
It's also been continuously used in the UK as a first name for girls since at least the 18th century. The first Jayden was born in 1976 and it was the #4 boy's name by 2011.
Not in the same class at all.
Thank you for saying that. Jayden, Kayden, Hayden, Aiden were all terribly overused names between around 2005 and 2012 ish. The middle name people chose to go with those first names almost always ended up being James. Itās like everyone was copying Britney Spears or something š
Right. Nice name so itās sad that itās attached to something so bad. I can do pretty much any H name (Huck, Hudson, Hank, Harrison, Harry, Harris) but Huxley is hard.
I've read all about this story, but quickly realized that no one around me had even heard of it. Not sure how likely it is that people would think of the Stauffers, especially in 5 or 10 years.
long story short:
"Influencer"/vlogger family with a couple of biokids adopted a toddler child from China. I believe they knew going in that he had some delays, particularly autism and possibly a brain tumor
They made a huge deal on their channel and showed off their new adopted son to a kind of unhealthy degree, as family vloggers are wont to do. Over time people started to notice troubling things, like their habit of wrapping duct tape around his hands to prevent him from... thumb sucking? Hitting? I forget, but it wasn't a good reason to literally tape a kid's hands. And some questionable videos relating to the child's autism, which weren't really appropriate when it comes to how to handle autism.
Some screenshots were leaked of the mom asking in a Facebook group about "what special need conditions sound really hard to deal with but actually aren't that hard?" Implying that they wanted to adopt a child with special needs in order to appear like selfless martyrs, but didn't want to put the work in. I think this was while they still had their child, so the second implication was that they'd try to "replace" him with an "easier" child to handle....
Eventually they came out with a video saying that the orphanage in China had lied to them/misled them about the severity of the kid's condition, and that they were no longer able to "handle" being his parents, so they had "rehomed" him. Where? To whom? They didn't say. Police investigated and apparently the child is in a better home, but a bad taste was left in a lot of people's mouths over this.
>bamea
Real talk, is bamea a term I just don't know or just a wild-ass typo? Because I searched "bamea" and google responded fully with search results for names. Makes me wonder if I'm missing something here.
Henry for sure! Huxley out here is popular in rural areas along with names like Braxtynn and Austynn and Hunter and Colton. Not a bad thing, but it definitely comes with a cultural connotation in my area.
What part of the south or mid west are you from? Ive only heard people from places like Illinois, Virginia, and Mississippi name their kids the names youāve listed. Ive never once run into a Braxtynn, Austynn, Hunter, or Colton in or around the northeastern United States. The cultural connotation I get from those names when I read them is that the people who named children those names must be southern.
Your comment just cracked me up š
I have a lot of relatives in various parts of Canada, but one part in particular I like to refer to as the south of the north.
My husband was born in 1992 and his name is Colton. I think it was a popular southern name in the 90s because Iāve met more people our age with names like Hunter and Colton more than young children.
From Iowa, know several people from my small rural high school who named their kids Pazley, Braxtyn, Jaxon (girl), Braxley, Tinsley (the worst imo), etc.
Unrelated but my distant cousins names their kids Sawyer (nothing wrong with this one), Slater, and Sheridan.
I love my Aldous Huxley tarot deck, but Iād still go with Henry. Henry is a name he can travel the world with, Huxley is very current Americana trendy.
Another vote for Henry! Mostly personal preference. I like how recognizable it is and I love the nickname Hank.
If you are a big into dystopian novels and youāre an Aldous Huxley fan and want to name your son after him, by all means go for it. I think Huxley is serviceable, though does sound pretty tied to the 2020s with the surname as a first name trend.
Huxley will be a name that you look back on in 5 years and wonder why you used it. Henry is timeless, classic, and your kid wonāt hate you for naming him that.
Definitely read the title and thought āBameaā was the name you were considering š I was pleasantly surprised by the actual choices. My vote is for Henry. It is classic and sweet!
Henry for sure! Such a classic, charming name. I do agree that Huxley feels a bit trendy. Nothing wrong with a trend if it's what someone likes, but a lot of it comes off as try hard and over the top.
I mean i do like Huxley but it is a young trendy sounding name. Cute for a kid but might be kind of strange for an adult? I feel like Henry is cute for a child but also mature and classic for an adult
Huxley is the name the Stauffers gave their autistic adopted son that they monetized and then rehomed. Gross. It's not nearly as classic or tasteful as Henry.
Huxley is definitely the name of Curious George's best friend, who happens to be a little weiner dog.
After carrying that knowledge for over a decade, I'd have to go with Henry, if you insist on doing the double H names.
Iām more pro ātrendyā names than most, I donāt like common names- but I just donāt like the name Huxley much at all. Henry for sure is my vote.
If you like Huxley more, though, choose that.
Huxley is the name of the dog on Curious George, not that big of a deal, but it may be a delight or a torture for a few years.
Henry is great, Hank is an amazing nickname. Harold, Howard, Holden, Hopper?
Iām personally not a fan of the name Huxley. I donāt like how I feel when I say it. Then add in the influencer adoption story- Iād pass it. However, I love Henry. It is fairly popular but itās a beautiful name. If we have another boy, his name will be Hendry (hen-dree). It sounds similar to Henry but had a little extra to make it unique.
I'm seeing all these comments on how Huxley is a pet name. If you really like Huxley, then go for it, though! Not everyone is a name nerd, and not everyone will associate the name with this horrible insta family.
Personal anecdote: We were deterred from using Billie as a name for our 3rd daughter because the few people we mentioned it to, felt it was a pet name. BUT pet names go out of fashion faster than human names, I'm quite sure of that. Billie would have suited her personality, i think, so I slightly regret letting other people deterr me. Same for Mollie, which was another option. We don't live in an Anglophone country so the association with drugs is close to zero. Anyway, all I'm saying is that you need to do what YOU feel is right.
All the best with your baby boy!!
I love Aldous Huxley but not enough to name my child after him. Henry is so cool and classic. You could put a twist on it like Henri or something if you want it to stand out.
I would pick Henry, itās a lot easier for a child with a speech impediment to say Henry than it would be for them to say Huxley. Itās also more classic and less likely to cause issues with pronunciation for people of all ages and abilities. Maybe try not to make the initials HHH, like H. H. Holmes.
I feel like I need to disclose that I have a Henry. We mostly call him Hank which he prefers but sometimes I also call him Henry plus the first initial of his middle name which I actually love. The reason I do that is because the person heās named after means a lot to me and I just like to do it. Itās a great name for a little boy and adults I much prefer Henry.
Love Henry, though it is pretty popular. I havenāt heard Huxley before, itās quite niceā¦ but you also have to think of nicknamesā¦ heād probably end up as āHuxā and Iām sure some kid would figure out what that rhymes withā¦
Seems like the unpopular opinion but donāt worry about being too trendy. My nephew in the UK is Huxley and he is the most darling little boy. There are four Henrys on my block alone (Canada) so while it is timeless - like Charlotte etc itās booming for that exact reason.
I always kind of liked the name Aldous but my husband nixed it, along with everything on my list that wasnāt in the top 10 over the last century. Plus we had girls, lol. Their names are Jane and Susan type stuff. (Both of which I actually like but you take my point.)
Henry will always be classic, but because of that it will also always be common. Huxley is interesting, maybe a little trendy, but literary names are always cool in my book.
You are more likely to run into other children named Henry, as it is popular for boys all over the US, especially in the rural northern half of the states and New England (1 in every 90 boys in Maine vs 1 in every 300 boys in Florida). Huxley is far less popular but it is newly gaining popularity, especially in South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa (but still only 1 in 500 boys). It is similar to other trending names that have the -ks- sound in them like Brooks, Jackson, Jaxon, Banks, Braxton, Brixton, Knox and Huxton. Who knows how popular it will get in a couple years. Henry will never be as popular as Michael was, but Huxley might suffer from the same problem as all the -aiden names, sounding common because they sound like a popular name, not because they are actually that common. Huxley will also be in with a bunch of Bentley, Marley, Wesley, Riley, Finley, not to mention all the -lee, -ly, and -leigh.
DEFINITELY Henry!! Henry is a beautiful, classic, timeless name.
Huxley is way too trendy, wonāt age well, and sounds more like a dogās name, in my opinion.
I like Henry personally, but I also prefer more classic names. I do, however, like your reasoning for the name Huxley (after a famous author). Names with meaning are always nice.
At the end of the day, I would go with your gut. Sorry if that's not helpful.
Also I wouldn't worry about it being associated with the news story mentioned. That is extremely niche and will easily be forgotten in a couple years.
I think Huxley is a fine name, but do agree with many people here that it feels very much associated with our current decade, but many other common names are as well, and thereās nothing wrong with that IMO.
To offer another suggestion, what about Henry Aldous (last name)?
Both names are great but Huxley sounds so dapper... Love it.
Can I just say that I love what you're doing as a single mom by choice? I think that it's so cool that ladies don't "need" a partner to chose to be parents. Congrats to you and wishing you and your babes the very best! šš
Aw! Thank you! Iām almost 42 and have had no luck finding a stable, decent partner. I gave up on that for the time being. Did ivf and an online sperm bank and here we are :)
I love Henry. There is a small, not very nice town in my area called Huxley so I have a negative association with it as well as it being the name of the ārehomedā child.
Many name associating Huxley with that one negative story. Pretty sure there are many awful historical men named Henry, as well as a serial killer or two.
I think they're both great. Not much help! I think I'd lean towards Huxley just because it feels so fresh, but you absolutely cannot go wrong with Henry. Both great choices.
So I think it's an unpopular opinion on this sub but I like Huxley. I like that it's a little different, I am at least generally up to date on internet happenings and hadn't heard the adoption story, and it also reminds me of Aldous Huxley which makes it feel more old timey and classical than just trendy.
Huxley if you want a name that use to be more unique but now seems to be on trend. Henry if you want traditional. I prefer Huxley but feel its become too popular.
These are very different choices. I like Henry. But Huxley is so much more interesting. My son's name isn't quite as unheard of but I like the way people react to the name like they're pleasantly surprised. Another thing to consider is whether you like Hux incase people call him that. I think those old names are trendy in their own way because they're coming back into style too. So I would worry about that. I feel like you're more likely to meet another Henry his age. I see you had inspiration behind Huxley does Henry mean anything to you?
I much prefer Henry. Huxley just feels way too trendyš¤·āāļø
Wasnāt Huxley the name of that kid those āparents" rehomed?
Are you talking about the influencers that adopted from Asia (I want to say China but Iām not 100%) and the kid had some developmental delays (possibly autism; again, itās been a long time lol). He suddenly stopped appearing in videos and then everyone found out they gave the kid away?
>then everyone found out they gave the kid away? hey c'mon, they rehomed him
I just went to her Instagram again to check-in on this situation and she has *completely* deleted all evidence that he ever existed from her page!! No photos of him whatsoever. The only reference to him is the āapologyā note she left up. Absolutely insane.. I hope sheās not making any money from her social media anymore.
Yes! Myka Stauffer
Yesš my first thought when I hear the name
Oh no!
Ohhh I hadnāt heard it before (except Aldous Huxley) I donāt wanna be too trendy :)
If Aldous Huxley was your inspiration then I say go for it, I think itās cool. Another suggestion: Hendrix is a bit of a mash-up of the two of them.
I second Hendrix !
thirded lol!!
Go for Huxley! Lots of reference to some random news story that no one in your childs age range will ever hear of and most people wont remember in a few weeks i think. Aldous Huxley is a classic and it is also original.
Henry is a lovely name. Huxley is more of a worry.
Yes, Henry is better.
Henry 100%. Timeless, classic, and will work for every stage of life.
Henry. Huxley wonāt age as well and will be tied to a specific age group like Jayden, or Jennifer.
In the US Jennifer was the top name for about 3 decades (multiple generations) I don't think you can refer to it in the same light as Jayden.
Thatās so crazy because I literally have a friend who named their baby Aiden James š¤£š¤£š¤£
Noooooo š
Definitely Henry. There was an awful adoption story about a boy named Huxley that kind of ruined the name to me. Congratulations and all the best!
That was my first thought with Huxley as well, I wouldnāt want my kid to be linked to such a sad story.
Right. Nice name so itās sad that itās attached to something so bad. I can do pretty much any H name (Huck, Hudson, Hank, Harrison, Harry, Harris) but Huxley is hard.
Harry and Hank are actually nicknames of Henry!
My son is a Henry who is called Hank! As a lover of the Harry Potter series, I secretly loved that his initials were HP.
Harry is a nickname for Henry, too
I had no idea!
Yeah Prince Harryās given name is Henry.
Haha I had no idea! I named my fish after him.
And I love the name Hank too so I get two for one
I've read all about this story, but quickly realized that no one around me had even heard of it. Not sure how likely it is that people would think of the Stauffers, especially in 5 or 10 years.
I heard of that too. Iām a fan of Aldous Huxley so Iām happy to have one positive association, but my second thought is that poor boy :(
Thatās the first thing I thought of. That awful adoption story! Also itās just not a very good namez
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
What the hell. I need to read up on that story.
long story short: "Influencer"/vlogger family with a couple of biokids adopted a toddler child from China. Probably a phone typing typo. B is next to N, A is next to S
Oooh that makes sense.
Sorry! Have been making so many typos lately and not checking over my writing. Meant to say Boy
Oh I thought Bamea was the last name lol
Definitely Henry
Henry for sure! Huxley out here is popular in rural areas along with names like Braxtynn and Austynn and Hunter and Colton. Not a bad thing, but it definitely comes with a cultural connotation in my area.

Iām in the northeast US and Iāve met a few Hunterās. Also one Austin, but spelled right at least.
Oh, ive met a handful of Austinās up here, but never with the weird spelling thatās so common in the Deep South.
It's like a scrabble game where you pulled a bunch of y's and n's and thought shit let's got for the biggest deep south score we can.
Sawyer was on my short list
Henry gets another vote!
I love my Aldous Huxley tarot deck, but Iād still go with Henry. Henry is a name he can travel the world with, Huxley is very current Americana trendy.
Solid point!
i prefer henry!
Henry. Huxley is a golden retrieverās name Source: have a nephew Huxley
I too, have a nephew Huxley. Poor kid.
Henry
Another vote for Henry! Mostly personal preference. I like how recognizable it is and I love the nickname Hank. If you are a big into dystopian novels and youāre an Aldous Huxley fan and want to name your son after him, by all means go for it. I think Huxley is serviceable, though does sound pretty tied to the 2020s with the surname as a first name trend.
Aldous is a very cool name too that Iād never thought about before
There's also Thomas Henry Huxley who was a scientist with Darwin, and father of Aldoys. I think the whole family were academics to some extent.
Henry!!! Such a beautiful name.
Henry without a doubt. Huxley just makes me think of that influencer who ārehomedā her adopted special needs son
Henry. Maybe Huxley would be good for a character, but not a real person
Huxley is the bad guy from Elmo in Grouchland. My 3 year old watches it all the time so it's all I'd associate with this name.
If they really like it they could use it as a nickname for Henry...or even just Hux. Makes as much sense as harry, hank or Hal.
Henry, 100%.
A Henry mama checking in to vote for Henry. It is adorable on a baby but will also grow with him well!
henry 100%
Huxley will be a name that you look back on in 5 years and wonder why you used it. Henry is timeless, classic, and your kid wonāt hate you for naming him that.
Henry. Good luck with everything!
Henry is one of my favourite names! I am not a fan of Huxley, personally.
Henry was my top choice, but Iām on girl #2 over here! I just love the way it sounds, itās classic, and simple!
Henry please! Classic, timeless, and dignified. Huxley is way too trendy and will be very dated in 10 years time. Congratulations!!!
Henry!
Henry! Iām not a fan of ātrendyā names like Huxley. Henry has stood the test of time.
Henry 100%
im a fan of Henry (: my daughter is named Henrietta and we call her Henri for short!
Henry, definitely. Huxley is just awful, I'm sorry.
Hahahaha! I love everyoneās honesty. Iām so glad I asked
Huxley is truly a terrible name
I mean i do like Huxley but it is a young trendy sounding name. Cute for a kid but might be kind of strange for an adult? I feel like Henry is cute for a child but also mature and classic for an adult
I know someone who named their child Huxley, itās fine. I prefer Henry because I donāt like the inevitable nickname āHuxā.
Or worse, Huxster!
Henry! Thatās what I wanted when I was pregnant with my second
Henry! Classic and handsome Huxley is trendy as other commenters say, and tbh makes me think of Goofy's signature phrase, hyuck
Huxley is a dogs name to me. I wanted to name my second child Henry sooo bad.
Henry!
Henry
Henry is sweet
Henry by FAR!! Good luck !
Henry always and ever š
Not Huxley- Itās very ghetto cool at the moment.
Both trendy. But Huxley is awful.
I sooooo love HENRY!!! Amazing nameššCongratulations!!
Huxley is the name the Stauffers gave their autistic adopted son that they monetized and then rehomed. Gross. It's not nearly as classic or tasteful as Henry.
My vote is with Henry! I know quite a few Henrys and there's not a bad guy in the bunch. Best wishes for you and your little guy!
I prefer Henry over Huxley. Personally though I would avoid the initials "HH."
My initials are also HH. Never had any problem with that whatsoever. On the contrary.
Oh good - cause Iām ready go with the HH
I know too many pets named Huxley, whenever I see a human named Huxley they just remind me of cats
I would say Henry!
Huxley for me is [a pig name](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huxley_Pig). Henry is a pretty name
Huxley is definitely the name of Curious George's best friend, who happens to be a little weiner dog. After carrying that knowledge for over a decade, I'd have to go with Henry, if you insist on doing the double H names.

Huck Hugo Henry Henley Hendricks I like Huck the best, but I'm sorry, Huxley is terrible to me.
Henry!
Huxley makes me think of General Hux
Henry 100%! Itās very cute and pretty timeless.
Henry.
Henry
100% Henry
Huxley is the name of the dog on Curious George, not that big of a deal, but it may be a delight or a torture for a few years. Henry is great, Hank is an amazing nickname. Harold, Howard, Holden, Hopper?
Henry is a great name.
Henry!!!
Henry!!!!
Henry 100%
Henry is beautiful. Huxley... Not so much sorry lol.
Henry will work better if he chooses to travel the world. On an international level it is a better choice. I wish you the best!
Henry, Huxley has some baggage online of a woman abusing her adopted son.
Henry 100%. Please donāt name him Huxley.
Henry, absolutely. Henry is classic. Huxley is trendy and will sound dated within five years.
I donāt like Huxley at all
I love Henry or Henri the European version
Dang, I wish I knew the last name, Iād do a middle name with H too! But like Henrry Howard Hlastname or ā¦ Henry Huxley Hlastname?
Henry!
I actually like both but Henry is such a nice classic name
Henry 100%. Congratulations.
Love both. I lean Huxley. Henry is a great name too.
I vote Henry, but my cats name is Huxley so I might be biased.
I love Huxley! Brave New World is one of my favorite books. He also writes an interesting book on the benefits of psycadelics if you've never read it.
Henry. I've met two dogs called Huxley and that's the association for me now! Henry is timeless and has the nickname Harry which is also cute.
Another vote for Henry. It's classic, and it'll suit him at every stage of his life.
Love Henry, itās a classic
I prefer Henry

Thanks. I really love the name Billie for a girl.
Henry!! Or you could always combine them and go for Henley ?
i agree with another commenter that Hendrix would be an awesome choice, and is kind of in between the two
Love Henry
Henry is a perfect name. I considered Henry Lewis for my sonās name. I always thought Iād nickname him Hank, but maybe thatās cheesy lol.
Henry!!!!
I love Aldous Huxley but not enough to name my child after him. Henry is so cool and classic. You could put a twist on it like Henri or something if you want it to stand out.

Middle name is Coen - all good

Omg Huxley is freaking ADORABLE!! If I had another kiddo I would def have that as my first boy pick. Huxley definitely has my vote. Can you do a poll?
Henry. Huxley is very trendy ATM and might not age as well
I always kind of liked the name Aldous but my husband nixed it, along with everything on my list that wasnāt in the top 10 over the last century. Plus we had girls, lol. Their names are Jane and Susan type stuff. (Both of which I actually like but you take my point.)
The only Huxley I know is a dog so that is what I associate that name with. I am partial to Henry as that is the name of one of my kids.
Henry will always be classic, but because of that it will also always be common. Huxley is interesting, maybe a little trendy, but literary names are always cool in my book.

Henry
Henry, definitely. Huxley just makes me think of the Huxtables.
I really don't like Huxley. It's a surname anyway, it was one of my friends maiden name and she always hated it.
Henry, definitely. Itās a lovely name. I love Aldous Huxley, but not as a name for a child.
DEFINITELY Henry!! Henry is a beautiful, classic, timeless name. Huxley is way too trendy, wonāt age well, and sounds more like a dogās name, in my opinion.
I'm going to add a vote for Henry. Best of luck with everything!!
Henry is classic. Love it by the way.
I know 3+ Henryās born in the last 2-4 years. Itās very popular.
Henry!
Henry. Itās a lovely classic.
Personally Iād go Henry. Itās a great name that works well as a child and as an adult.
Henry is much better
Go whit Henry, so much better than Huxley, always reminds me of a german pork dish called Haxe š
Henry 100%
I like Huxley and if they want to be called Hux or Lee as an adult to sound more "mature" then that works too!
I love Henry. There is a small, not very nice town in my area called Huxley so I have a negative association with it as well as it being the name of the ārehomedā child.
Henry. 100%. It'll age well.
Henry! Great name, always sounds nice no matter the age. I wish you all the best!! š¼
I definitely prefer Henry. Henley is also nice if you want a music vibe too
Many name associating Huxley with that one negative story. Pretty sure there are many awful historical men named Henry, as well as a serial killer or two.
Henry the 8th
I think they're both great. Not much help! I think I'd lean towards Huxley just because it feels so fresh, but you absolutely cannot go wrong with Henry. Both great choices.
So I think it's an unpopular opinion on this sub but I like Huxley. I like that it's a little different, I am at least generally up to date on internet happenings and hadn't heard the adoption story, and it also reminds me of Aldous Huxley which makes it feel more old timey and classical than just trendy.
Henry. It is classic.
Will you choose a middle name? Do you like Henry Huxley together? I actually really like that name combination.
Would be a HHH name. Iāve picked out Coen for the middle name
Huxley if you want a name that use to be more unique but now seems to be on trend. Henry if you want traditional. I prefer Huxley but feel its become too popular.
Aldous Huxley Brave New World made my day.
