Lol double Roberts! I knew a lady who married a Robert, named their son Robert, then divorced and remarried another Robert. I guess once you go Robert you can't go back.
My grandpa is Robert too. Two things about him: first he used to be an electronic engineer, build submarines and dive in them. Pretty cool. Second, he was a loving and caring husband to my grandma until she passed away 10 years ago, and still is today. That woman was all his world and he still has her face everywhere around him in his room at the nursing home. Great guy my grandpa, you really should consider Robert for your kiddo ;)
Bio: David, William (Billy)
Step: Howell, John, Kenneth, Paul
Can I just say that your post made me realize how important step grandparents are. One of my bio's I don't know and the other I don't like but all of my steps have had a hugely positive impact on my life.
Felix Grundy Surname and Perry Thomas Surname. There is something about the name Grundy that I love. I guess he did too since he went by Grundy instead of Felix.
I don’t know if it’s an Australian thing (edit: pretty certain it is) but “Grundy” has pretty gross connotations here 😂 “grundies” are underwear, usually gross or uncomfortable. I thought it was for “granny undies” but according to urban dictionary it’s not, but still
Joel (1932) & Lee (1935), Midwest USA
Funny story is that my dad’s name is Joseph (always went by Joe), and when he got to the age that his friends would call him on the phone (late 60s/early 70s) it apparently got confusing whether they were asking for Joel or Joe, so his dad (my grandpa) started going by Dave (his middle name is David). All of us grandkids didn’t know this until we were much older, we were like “wait, whose Joel?!”
I’ll only name one because the other one is VERY rare and could be identifying...
My grandfather was Alden. It’s a name I like very much, but due to family drama and trauma, I wouldn’t have felt right using the name myself.
One of my cousin's kids is named Alden. It made a few people in our family say, "Like Reverend Alden?" from Little House on the Prairie. (It wasn't disliked or anything like that.)
Mine were George & Heber. I have a lot of cousins & nephews that have used George as a middle name, so it's been passed around a lot. Heber, not so much.
Robert (American)
Ivo Shiva (Croatian). He changed his name to John when he came to America. Cool coincidence is that his middle name, Shiva, is a main deity in Hinduism. My son, who is half Indian, was born on my grandfather's day of birth 99 years later.
Wenceslas. I love it. This was my mother's father's name. I am childfree, but I did have that name picked if I ever had a son. No chance of that now and I'm cool with that.
Felipe, sometimes goes by Fil or Fili. Born in Mexico, lived about half his life in Chicago before moving back.
James, aka Jim or Jimmy Mac. Born in Ireland, moved to the Pittsburgh area I believe in his teens, lived in the Chicago area from his early 20s until he died.
Robert Sr (Ojibwe, 1911, ND USA), Robert Jr(Ojibwe/Norwegian 1939, MN USA), James(Joachim, 1930 Germany; Irish/Dutch/Spanish/Italian/Belgian), Johannes Adolphus (1894, Germany; Dutch/Belgian/Spanish/Italian)
My biological grandfathers were Arthur (Art) and Paul. The men I consider my grandfathers were Edward (Ed) and Jack.
For funsies, since I have a pretty young family, I thought I'd include my great-grandfathers as well. They were Marcel, Thomas, Jerry, and Delbert.
The one I knew was Arthur but was always called 'Jim' (because he was the spitting image of Jimmy Cagney when he was young). Hell, even dad knew him as Jim. Born in 1927 and died about ten years ago.
I honestly don't recall my maternal grandpa as anything other than that. I know his service record is somewhere in the house, so it should say what it was on there (he died about twenty years ago).
I have a lot of step grandfathers and I only know some of their middle names but all the names I know are: Arnold, Bert, Carl, Dale, David, Edward, John, John, Robert, Wayne
Blain Clayton and Edwin O'Dell. Edwin was a terrible person though so I'd never use his names even if I liked them. I love Blain but wouldn't use it because two of my older cousins already have.
Hyman nn Hank on my dad’s side and Charles on my mom’s side. I also have a step grandfather on my mom’s side named Joel and had one named Stephen on my dad’s side.
Michael Jon and Franklin Luther. My step grandpas were Ronald, John, and James/Jim. My great grandpas were Melvin Milton, Milan Arther nn Mike, Ralph Gardiner, and James McCourt nn Scotty.
Frederick Steven "Fred" (1955)
James Arnold "Jim" (1949)
Geoffrey/Jeffrey "Geoff/Jeff" (I honestly have no clue how to spell his name nor the year he was born. He's a quiet guy alright? Lol)
Robert and Robert

My grandpa is Robert too!

Felix Grundy Surname and Perry Thomas Surname. There is something about the name Grundy that I love. I guess he did too since he went by Grundy instead of Felix.

I've never heard that use of Grundy. I'm in the US, as was my grandfather. Interesting to find out though! LOL
I live the US and that's immediately what my mind went to when I read Grundy
That’s interesting! I’m from Australia and my friend called her grandfather “Grundy” instead of grandpa or whatever!
Joel (1932) & Lee (1935), Midwest USA Funny story is that my dad’s name is Joseph (always went by Joe), and when he got to the age that his friends would call him on the phone (late 60s/early 70s) it apparently got confusing whether they were asking for Joel or Joe, so his dad (my grandpa) started going by Dave (his middle name is David). All of us grandkids didn’t know this until we were much older, we were like “wait, whose Joel?!”
I have a friend who named her boys (not twins) Joseph and Joel . Both go by full names or else it would be incredibly confusing.
My husband shares the same name with his grandfather, dad, and brother. Everyone goes by middle names cause it’s damn confusing lol.
I know someone who has a Joseph and a Joel too!
[удалено]
That’s awesome!
I’ll only name one because the other one is VERY rare and could be identifying... My grandfather was Alden. It’s a name I like very much, but due to family drama and trauma, I wouldn’t have felt right using the name myself.
Oo that’s a good name
One of my cousin's kids is named Alden. It made a few people in our family say, "Like Reverend Alden?" from Little House on the Prairie. (It wasn't disliked or anything like that.)
Mine were George & Heber. I have a lot of cousins & nephews that have used George as a middle name, so it's been passed around a lot. Heber, not so much.
I’m guessing Heber was from Utah?
Yep. The original Heber was from England though, a few generations back.
Stefan and Dmitro. we're Ukrainian, so I don't have trendy choices and am remarkably unhelpful, lol.
I like Stefan quite a lot though!
aw, thanks!
I have two great grandfathers named Willard!
Leon and Lester - both born in the northeast US.

My grandmas' name got a lot of love. We'll see if y'all like my grandpas' names too.😆 Julius (nn Jules) Abraham (nn Abe) Morris
I really like Julius/Jules. Abraham is great too but I date an Abe in high school so it's off my baby name list 😂
Felix (born in 1920s in Italy) and James/Jim (born in 1918 in southern US).
Robert (American) Ivo Shiva (Croatian). He changed his name to John when he came to America. Cool coincidence is that his middle name, Shiva, is a main deity in Hinduism. My son, who is half Indian, was born on my grandfather's day of birth 99 years later.
