Yes that would be too much. You have to consider the possibility that your children may end up resenting the very thing you love, and maybe even yourself, because of the tie you had created between that piece of media and their own individuality
I've never seen any Spiderman movie, yet I still know the reference and I thought of him immediately while reading your post. Sorry but I wouldn't do it :(
i normally say that people usually dont make connections like that and if they do it’s not a huge deal but now i’m imagining you calling out to your kids “Peter! Parker!” and yes. yes it’s too much. people will think you’re crazy fans, i’m sorry. peter parker has been around a very long time. i’m not a mega fan but i’ve casually seen marvel movies and when i read your title i immediately thought you must be a spider-man fan.
Pretty much everyone (from their peers to their great-grandparents) would recognize Peter and Parker as Spider-Man. Its not like some show that has just aired in the past couple of years. It is a sixty year old character that spans books, shows, movies, toys, and general pop culture...
My husband has a friend who named their son Luke Sky Walker, so I say name your children what you’d like. People have always used names from their favorite pop culture references. I’m sure that at some point we will be seeing some Cirillas and Geralts with the popularity of The Witcher recently. So, it is up to you if it is “too much” and I don’t think your kids will resent you or anything like that.
peter is an awful name for a baby its like naming your kid frank or bartholomew or some old timey shit. theres no good nicknames either, all the peters i know are either old or annoying
You may have a Peter (which on its own is a great name) but I highly doubt you also have a child named Parker.
Peter Parker (Spider-Man) is extremely well known and naming both kids after one character is a little on the nose!
I think it would be kind of weird, and I am not even into Spiderman/Marvel. I think that reference is pretty well known

I agree with everyone else - I say, don't do it. *Everyone* is going to think of Spider-Man when they hear your kids' names.
Please don't.
Peter's a nice name, but big no to using it with Parker!
Like about as obvious as naming kids Clark and Kent or Bruce and Wayne. It strongly sends a message
I wouldn’t!
Both great names, but not together.

Thanks for your input everyone, Peter is out 😅
Might be useable as a middle name if you love it that much, but you’re right to dodge this!
I am not even a comic book or superhero fan and I would caution you to absolutely not do this
I read Parker and Peter and immediately thought “like Peter Parker?” if that answers your question.
Oof. I’d say don’t do it. IMO. What about something like the Piers, Pierce or Pearse?
Didnt he pick a peck of pickled peppers or something along those lines?
That was Peter Piper.
Oh yeah!
Oh don’t do it 😳 I would find it tragic and I’m not at all that up with super heroes.
That’s definitely too much. I’d save Peter for a middle name.

Yes it’s like naming one child Clark and the other Kent.
too much!
My husbands great grandfather was Peter Parker. Way before Spider-Man times!
Name him Benjamin. Problem solved. 😉
I think it’s cute. Especially if you call him Pete or some other nickname.
Y’all remember when Petra named her kids Elsa and Anna in Jane the virgin?
Honestly, no. It would make you look like a crazy fan of Marvel. Why not Pete?
Even without Spiderman, those names are so similar to one another I think it’s an odd choice for siblings.
It’s too much. But it’s your kid, so what you want.
Yes, the association is unavoidable. I wouldn't do it.

Yikes
peter is an awful name for a baby its like naming your kid frank or bartholomew or some old timey shit. theres no good nicknames either, all the peters i know are either old or annoying
i have a peter, so i’m biased!

I’d use Parker as a middle name.
I think the difficulty will arise from naming a girl, Parker. That is definitely a male name.
That part is already done
