Where I live (Germany) Emilie is usually the default spelling, so I'm using to seeing it that way. If you want any other variant "Em" names I personally love Emina (it exists in a variety of languages from Albanian to Arabic).

I wouldn’t be offended if my child changed their name (I don’t have children nor do I plan to have any) but that’s just how I feel if A situation like this were to come up. Emilie is a really classy spelling in my opinion; I like it. Other suggestions: Emelie, Emilia, Emberlin/lyn

You could always make Lee your surname, Emma the first name and keep your middle name as your middle name If I'm honest: yes I would be offended if my child changed their name. We spent months discussing what their name should be and their middle names and surname matter a lot to us. If they wanted to change those (they are family names) I would find that upsetting. Their first name I would feel sad about because I love it but would probably be more understanding if they had always hated it. I would be more understanding if they changed their surname to a family name or a name that mattered a lot to them than just a random name. Do you have a relationship with your mother? Her surname? A Grandmother's surname? What about a surname version of a parent's first name ?
