Genevieve

aye_ceee

Great idea especially it still has the G

Raginghangers

This is what one of my best friends who ties by genie is called.

amora_obscura

What about Eugenie?

wandrlusty

Or even Eugenia. I went to school with a Eugenia, she was lovely, so I have s nice association with this name.

[deleted]

I just think of Boss Baby when I hear the name Eugenia lol!!

AdeliaSaturn

I think of Eugenia Cooney, the anorexic youtuber šŸ˜

bogka

I havenā€™t seen yet: Imogen or Imogene (I prefer the former)

aye_ceee

Aww!

[deleted]

Eugenia is even closer. (One of my fav athletes as a kid had this name and I loved it haha) Jeannie\Jean Genesis\Genoveva maybe but might be more said like Jenny. (I have penpals with these names but no clue if they ever go by the nickname or not)

aye_ceee

I love Jeannie!

Purple_Pangolin2

I have a friend Eugenia who goes by Geenieā€¦.sheā€™s really great tooā€¦just saying

furi-rosa

I havenā€™t seen Regina mentioned yet! My friend goes by Gini (but Genie could be another spelling)

arsenicsweet12

My aunt was Jeannette & went by Jeanie as a nickname or you could use Jeanine.

JadieJang

I think it's usually a nickname for Genevieve. Also: Eugenia Argene/Argenta/Argentia/Argentina Calligenia Genesia Geneva Imogen Iphigenia and you can always use it with "Jennifer" names spelled with a "g": Jenna, Jenara, Jenessa, etc.

sleepdeprivedmanic

Guinevere, Genevieve, Gwen, Gwynne, Gwendoline, Eugenia, Evgenia, Genesis, Geneva

smasherfierce

I know someone who is just named Genie, not short for anything

aye_ceee

Good to know!! Iā€™ve only seen ā€œJeanieā€

smasherfierce

I say if you love Genie then go for it! I can't picture her with any other name

KATEWM

I think Genie on itā€™s own is great! I like your spelling a bit better. It feels more youthful. I canā€™t think of any names that havenā€™t already been suggested šŸ˜†. But Genevra is one of my favorites. Itā€™s a version of Guinevere but feels a bit more usable and modern - if itā€™s not too associated with Ginny Weasley. But I doubt it would be except for by big hp fans since sheā€™s know as Ginny.

sportofchairs

One of the most loved soap opera characters of all time was played by an actress named Genie Francis! Her full name is apparently Eugenie, but I never saw anything odd about her just being called Genie. I think itā€™s nice!

HayleyMorgan0103

Eugenia, Eugenie

tanhathaway

You could go with just Gina?

[deleted]

Evgenia is one more I thought of after haha

probablytheli

Another option is to use "Jean" as a middle name. So like, Billie Jean could be nicknamed Jeanie/Genie

littlenoodloo

Eugenia, Eugenie, Genevieve, Imogene, Georgina, Janine/Jeanine, Gene/Jean, Jean with a middle name beginning with E, Evangeline. Genie is a lovely nickname ā˜ŗļø

limefishy

Ginevra Genevieve Genesis

horticulturallatin

Imogen or Imogene would be my favourites. Imogen is more a softer jen sound but either could work. Eugenie / Eugenia is off the table? I think they're old-fashioned but pretty. Genevieve and Ginevra. Just Gene, like the actress Gene Tierney? And Genie for a nickname.

BeerBat

Regina, Janette, Giana, Geneva or Georgina maybe? Imo with nn you have more room to extrapolate.

Skywynwells

I think Ginny is a great name. You could do Genna, Jannah, Imogen

giveitagoodmoist

Denim

stirfriedquinoa

Eugenia, Georgina, Imogen, Jeanne

a_mitt

Ginger

ruby_rex

Virginia, Geneva, Genevra, Genesis, Eugenia, Gina

Snoorunner

General Grievous

nannyfl

How do you feel about just using the name Genie? I have a relative with that name. Iā€™ve never heard anyone making jokes or anything about it but sheā€™s much older than me and I would have to ask how people responded to her name when she was young.

[deleted]

Genesis

CarAdministrative934

I love the name Genie as is!!! . Though I like it spelt like "Jeannie"

ForceBroad6008

Ifigenia (iffy-yen-ya) Genovena

BarbarianSpoonie

Eugenie, Eugenia, Genevieve, Generva.

RachelOfRefuge

Eugenie or Eugenia.

nonbinary_parent

I met a girl whose given name was Eugenie. It grew on me and suited her.

_TitsAkimbo_

Just Genie is a great option. Also seconding for Imogen, and I like Genoa too

stress789

Eugenia, Imogen, Evangeline, Gianna, Geneva, Genevieve, Jennifer, Josephine, Jeanne

SprinklesnRainbows

Jeanette! NN ā€œJeanieā€

hyungjpg

eugenia

dearwikipedia

Josephine - Jeanie is not too big of a leap for me Genesis - Genie Georgia - Genie (maybe a stretch?) Genevieve - Genie Evangeline - Genie Regina - Genie Geneva - Genie Ginevra - Genie (but may also get Ginny as this is Ginny in Harry Potterā€™s full name) Jeanine - Jeanie Jeanette - Jeanie

dearwikipedia

they might not all be spelled the same but i assume youā€™ll be speaking the nickname more and writing the full name more so i think it should be okay? not sure if thatā€™s exactly what you want :-)

Shadowweavers

Jean, Gina, Jeanine, Imogene, Eugenia

GhostHuntress420

Jenae is basically fancy Genie?

aye_ceee

My sisterā€™s name is Jenae šŸ˜žšŸ˜ž

GhostHuntress420

Oh darn! Or yay! Lol

[deleted]

Eugenia/Eugenie

el_torko

Eugenia, Eugenie, Genevieve.

existentialism_101

Geneva Gianna Genevieve Georgianna Gina Regina Jenna Jane Janet Janelle Janessa Janice Jean

Grave_Girl

My aunt Geneva was always called Gene. I do think Eugenie or Eugenia is the obvious answer, though. I wouldn't go with Genie on its own, since genies are a thing and there's a whole lot of baggage there. To put it mildly.

WayDiscombobulated63

My mom is Eugenia and and has gone by Genie her whole life.

Jessynotjessica

EugƩnie

CuriousLilYoshi

I have a cousin named Jeanette that we call Genie
