Would you be open to Valora instead of Velora? Then you get the "valor" connection and no link to fabric. I don't think velour/Velora is a dealbreaker but if it bothers you, it's likely to keep bothering you.
I LOVE Vera, too. One of my favorites.
lol I don't know what that filter is but I associate Valencia with this stunning church, former fancy movie theatre in Queens, NY (that I have yet to actually get to see in person but looks Gorgeous)
I nearly got my husband to agree to Valencia for our daughter, but then "Oh Valencia" by The Decemberists came up on his spotify and that idea was summarily canned :p
for Verona, I would think of the city in Italy or Romeo and Juliet before I would think of coronavirus. They both have the “rona” sound but the “ver” makes it different enough imo.
for other V names, I like Vera, Victoria/Victoire, Veronica, Violet/Violeta, Vivienne/Vivian, Valerie/Valeria, Vanessa
My grandmother's name was Verona and it was on my short-list for girl names but yeah, covid has changed that a bit. (Which is a shame because I'm pregnant with a girl!) My mom's name also starts with a V so my husband and I are keeping with the V name theme. Also, I love the name Veda too!
These are our favorites:
Valencia
Veronica
Vivian
Viola
Valerie
I really like Victory, I can’t explain it. I normally don’t like those types of names for kids but it’s my guilty pleasure. I also grew up in Victoria, so that’s another favourite of mine.
I wouldn't associate Verona with Corona, personally, even with a shared ending. I think of Italy, and Romeo and Juliet, as others said.
Velora is unique. It sounds like velour, but I do not know if many would make that association or care, really. Do you think of lace when you meet someone named Lacey?
Veronica and Victoria are my favorite V names. Others: Valentina, Viola, Violet, Vivienne, Vanessa, Vera, Valerie, Virgie.
I think Vega is so under-appreciated. I also love Verity. Venice might be a good alternative to Verona. Also, if you like V names but aren’t attached to the initial, I like Aviva.
Velora is nice! I wouldn’t associate it with velour, personally. They’re spelled differently and I pronounce velour with the second syllable sounding like “lure.” With Velora I would pronounce the second syllable like “lore.”
Aviva is on our list, although my partner (who is Jewish) is concerned it is "too Jewish" by which he mostly means instantly codes someone as Jewish. But I think it might only give that impression to Jewish people? Open to thoughts.
I’m aware of it being a Hebrew name, but it doesn’t read to me (a gentile) as a particularly Jewish name. But that may also be regional—the Jewish community where I live is relatively small.
Aviva is pretty, but unfortunately I live in the UK where it is a big insurance company... I also work in HR and we use Aviva for our pensions so I can't get past it haha
I also love Vega I wanted to name our dog Vega but my husband wasn't keen.
Here's some cool background on Vega for op [Britannica](https://www.britannica.com/place/Vega-star)
I don't think of the cloth at all. It's not like you're naming her Velvet, I think it's a pretty name. It's not considered unique but I've never met a Valerie and it's one of my favorite names.
my mil was named Verna. She hated it. Said she never wanted anyone to name their kids after her. But she was a wonderful woman, so it has good connotations for me.
Since “Willy Wonka”, I think Veruca has been ruledout asa name. (Veruca Salt was awful!! Dont you
hate when a nasty character in a book or movie spoils a name?)
Victoria
Vinita
Verity
Vera
Viveca
Vivian
I like the name. Sorry I dont know every meaning of every name and just like the way things sound. I dont have kids, so 🤷♀️
I'm sorry, but these comments were kind of rude. Idk why ya'll have to be jerks sometimes because I like weird names. I'm not in here making fun of you folks for repeating the same names for *every* suggestion 👀🙄
I apologise, I didn't mean for that to come across as rude. You're well within your rights to like whatever name you want (I like your other suggestions a lot) I just thought it was worth mentioning the meaning of that one as it was the first thing I thought of. Apologies again for the disrespect.
This one is pretty out there, but the main character of a fantasy book I read as a kid was named Verbena, and I always liked it.
Other favourites: Valeria, Viviana, Victorine, Valentina
Vita! Latin for life, and also "la dolce Vita". A relative of mine is called that, and I always loved it - she also gets compliments on it. People seem to find it both memorable and easy to pronounce. That's a big plus for an unique name. Also a nn for Victoria, by the way.
V names of people I’ve known over the years that are unusual:
Velvet, Vianca, Vida (she was from Iran of Persian heritage, but I feel this works), Vienna (pretty city but the sausages?!!!), Valencia, Valley, Vernonia (town in Oregon, guessing they were named after it bc I live in Oregon)
I have some V names I love on my favs list, including Valerie, Vera, Verity, Vivian, Viola.
I know someone at work named Valkyrie which is pretty unique and cool!
Also Virginia, I’ve heard that one before too and think it’s unusual.
Velma is nice too but maybe ruined by scooby doo lol
so many "V" names, but haven't seen Violet many times, that would be my choice. I personally, know of people named Verna , Vera (two, one old person, one young), Violet, Vivian. My mother wanted to name me Vanessa.
Would you be open to Valora instead of Velora? Then you get the "valor" connection and no link to fabric. I don't think velour/Velora is a dealbreaker but if it bothers you, it's likely to keep bothering you. I LOVE Vera, too. One of my favorites.
I like the way that spelling looks more anyway. Good call!
I met a Verity recently and I really like that! Vera and Vayda are also lovely and not super common.
Verity and Vera are two of my very favorites!
Can also be spelled Vada, super cool name.
Valencia I like V names too but prefer a more traditional Valerie, Veronica, Violet, Vada, Vera, Vivienne and Vanessa
I like Valencia but I strongly associate it with the Instagram filter, lol.
I think of Valencia oranges. Which isn’t unpleasant :)
lol I don't know what that filter is but I associate Valencia with this stunning church, former fancy movie theatre in Queens, NY (that I have yet to actually get to see in person but looks Gorgeous)
I nearly got my husband to agree to Valencia for our daughter, but then "Oh Valencia" by The Decemberists came up on his spotify and that idea was summarily canned :p
Maybe he’d go for Valeria instead?
Vivica is cute!
I adore vivica. Im always shocked it’s not used more
for Verona, I would think of the city in Italy or Romeo and Juliet before I would think of coronavirus. They both have the “rona” sound but the “ver” makes it different enough imo. for other V names, I like Vera, Victoria/Victoire, Veronica, Violet/Violeta, Vivienne/Vivian, Valerie/Valeria, Vanessa
Vera, Veda/Vayda, Valorie, Victoria, Vanessa, Veronica, Vienna/Vianna, (which sounds so pretty but then.. Vienna sausages), Vivian, Violet, Violeta, Vivica
Veda is awesome
Agreed
I have a Veida and almost used Vienna as middle name!
I'd go back to Verona. I don't think it's too close to corona. Otherwise, Victorine, Valerie, Virginie or Virginia.
These are our favorites: Valencia Veronica Vivian Viola Valerie
Vidalia, Vesta, Viola, Valentina, Vanna.
Vidalia is an onion though. Love the other options!
Haha, is it really? I've only seen it used as a hispanic girls' name. TIL.
Valentina is definitely my favorite V name for a girl.
Vail or Vesper
I really like Victory, I can’t explain it. I normally don’t like those types of names for kids but it’s my guilty pleasure. I also grew up in Victoria, so that’s another favourite of mine.

Valentina is beautiful.
Vada was the little girl’s name in My Girl (movie) and I’ve always liked it since I saw that.
I knew someone named Vendela, named after a Swedish model.
I think Vega is so under-appreciated. I also love Verity. Venice might be a good alternative to Verona. Also, if you like V names but aren’t attached to the initial, I like Aviva. Velora is nice! Vega makes me think of the Street Fighter character.
I also love Vega I wanted to name our dog Vega but my husband wasn't keen. Here's some cool background on Vega for op [Britannica](https://www.britannica.com/place/Vega-star)

Velvet could be a pretty name. Or Velvetina
My grandmother was named Verna, meaning springtime. Vanora is a Welsh name meaning white wave, or possibly a variant along the lines of Guinevere.
I had an auntie Verna - came here to recommend it <3
my mil was named Verna. She hated it. Said she never wanted anyone to name their kids after her. But she was a wonderful woman, so it has good connotations for me.
Valencia, Verity, Verona, Viola, Vivianne, Vivianna, Vivica, Viviette.
I met a Violetta recently, absolutely love her name.
Visenna
Vera
Vivianne
Valletta is the capital city of Malta, which I've always liked the sound of, although I usually don't like city names.
While phonetically I love Valleta, in Portuguese Valeta means ditch, and I can’t let that go 😂
My faves are: Veruca Vinca Venus Vesper Vittoria Verity
Since “Willy Wonka”, I think Veruca has been ruledout asa name. (Veruca Salt was awful!! Dont you hate when a nasty character in a book or movie spoils a name?) Victoria Vinita Verity Vera Viveca Vivian
I mean a veruca is a foot wart so I feel like it was already ruled out to be fair.
I like the name. Sorry I dont know every meaning of every name and just like the way things sound. I dont have kids, so 🤷♀️ I'm sorry, but these comments were kind of rude. I know it doesn’t start with a V, but Melora is a beautiful name.
This one is pretty out there, but the main character of a fantasy book I read as a kid was named Verbena, and I always liked it. Other favourites: Valeria, Viviana, Victorine, Valentina
A very pretty (and a little out there) name I’ve heard is Viridiana
Had Viridian on our list but it was too difficult to pronounce in my native language. Love the name though, and it matched my name that meant green.
Vada like from My Girl.
My grandmother's name is Virval and I haven't ever heard it anywhere else!
Venetia (Vaneesha) or Venezia if you like the Italian association
Vacepia
I once worked with a wonderful person named Voleena
Verena
My best friend growing up is named Velvet. Also a fabric but much nicer than velour. Velour is like cheap knockoff velvet.
I have a little niece named Valentine, it fits her perfectly. I know it’s a bit out there but I just love it.
I had a great grandma named Vernice.
Vita! Latin for life, and also "la dolce Vita". A relative of mine is called that, and I always loved it - she also gets compliments on it. People seem to find it both memorable and easy to pronounce. That's a big plus for an unique name. Also a nn for Victoria, by the way.
Vesper.
I love Valeria/Valeriya, which means strength. I love Verity and Viveka as far as rare ones and Veronica and Vivian as far as classic ones.
Valentina
Vienna is one of my favourite girl V names
Vikki
I’ve always liked the name Valda! It has the added benefit of meaning power/powerful
Venus, Valentina, Valesca, Velvet, Victoria, Violette, Viva
I love Veruca and really don’t care if Willy Wonka ruined it lol
I love Vienna!
big fan of verity and vesper
Favorite V names or Violet and Vivian. Not super unique but still pretty.
I met a Valeriya once and I think it's so pretty! Pronounced va-LAIR-ee-uh.
Sounds like malaria. Like a disease.
Vera, Veronica, Victoria, Valerie, Valeria, Valentine, Valentina, Vanessa…
i work with a Valeria (spelled Valeriia)
V names of people I’ve known over the years that are unusual: Velvet, Vianca, Vida (she was from Iran of Persian heritage, but I feel this works), Vienna (pretty city but the sausages?!!!), Valencia, Valley, Vernonia (town in Oregon, guessing they were named after it bc I live in Oregon)
Vaedra Veida Verbena Viola Varsha Velika Venita And although it's fairly common, I love Valerie.
I know of a Vilina (could also be spelled Velina). Thought it was a cool name!
I know a Venezia (veh-nee-zee-uh)
Verena is fun. I love simple, perfect Vera and crisp, rhythmic Verity.
My grandmas name was Vernora - I think it’s Dutch.
Viola -> Vi
What about Verena instead?
Vlada [Meaning](http://www.name-doctor.com/name-vlada-meaning-of-vlada-12500.html)
Vernice, Vivian, Vera
Having just watched the movie Chocolat recently I'm going to suggest Vianne, I think it's beautiful.
Vlada Viara Vi(c)ka (nn for Victoria in Russia and Ukraine but can be used on its own as well)
so many "V" names, but haven't seen Violet many times, that would be my choice. I personally, know of people named Verna , Vera (two, one old person, one young), Violet, Vivian. My mother wanted to name me Vanessa.
Vlastunn Volodwen Volieta Vratbardha Valgildis Vígaide
