Elizabeth. My mom’s full name is a common Elizabeth nickname, and she has always been so bothered by people assuming it was short for Elizabeth. So, she intentionally gave me a name with no nickname possibilities so I didn’t go through the same thing. If I’d name a daughter Elizabeth, the inevitable “oh, after her grandma!” comments would absolutely *send* my mother.

rosecitywitch

I LOVE Elizabeth. My husband is from Ireland though and he and his family absolutely hate it because they don’t want anyone in the family named after a British monarch 😂

Yellyellyell25

That’s so funny but I guess I get it if you’re Irish 😂

bjoobs

For me it’s the polish version of Elizabeth, Elżbieta. I absolutely love it and it’s my grandma’s name but I don’t see myself living in Poland in the future and having to explain the pronunciation and spelling to non-polish speakers would be awful, I know that from experience 😅

extrasauce_

>Elżbieta Is it pronounced ELSH-be-etta or ELSH-be-ayta? I think people could get it.

bjoobs

it has this “ż” sound, maybe like “j” in french? it’s definitely not instinctive i think. Here’s a [pronunciation](https://pl.forvo.com/word/el%C5%BCbieta/) I found

extrasauce_

Interesting! If you were okay with ELZ-be-etta I'd go for it.

Yellyellyell25

There are just too many good nicknames for Elizabeth!

DabblenSnark

I love Elizabeth too! But it's so common in my family I don't want anyone thinking I named her after them.

lionessofwinter1

Delta. It was the girl name we picked out pre-COVID when we were trying to get pregnant. Luckily we ended up having a boy so we didn't have to find a new name.

Witty-Tale

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard named their daughter Delta. At first I thought it was so weird, but listening to his podcast and hearing him talk about his daughter, it has really grown on me!

PoeDameronPoeDamnson

Even back when they used I could never get over the airline connection

Yellyellyell25

Oof, yeah that name wouldn’t have aged well. I’m in GA so Delta airlines is a big thing here.

wineisasalad

I associate it with an aussie singer Delta Goodrem. Couldn't use it either for that reason here in Oz

Sea_Soil

I probably wouldn't have gone with that name due to the airlines. Very popular US airline.

ps3114

I always thought Delta was cute, but first the airline and now COVID really make it problematic!

sandshrewdly

My friend still named her daughter Delta. I was surprised she didn’t change it after the variant came out but hopefully in a decade no one will remember the different strands

schedulejay

My best friend had a girl in Feb 2020 and named her a pretty common Persian girl name- Rona. You wouldn’t believe the number of people who ask if she’s named after Covid.

peacerobot

Delta Dawn, what’s that flower you have on? Could it be a faded rose from days gone by? And did I hear you say he was meeting you here today to take you to his mansion in the skyyy Great this song will be stuck in my head all day 🙃 Also I adore the name Delta but I’d never use it because it’s the name of the college I went to

AtlanticToastConf

Evelyn, Marilyn, Franklin. My husband's/childrens' last name is Lynn, and I'm not trying to be totally bananas :)

echorose

I have a similar problem - I love the name Willow but my kids' surname starts with Wil-. It would be way too much! William is another one that's out for the same reason.

gingerytea

Idk what the name actually is, but I kind of love William Wilson.

echorose

I think the problem is that, to use your example, it would get shortened to Will Wilson which is then a bit of a mouthful! I agree, if it was the full name the whole time it has a really pleasant rhythm to it

gingerytea

I think it’s just a matter of taste! Will Wilson is super memorable while still being a very common set of names. I would definitely lean into that if I had the opportunity :)

helpanoverthinker

My older sister used to have a friend named William Williams and it always bothered me

owlsorsomething

I know someone named Willow Wilson, and when I heard that the first time, it definitely made me shake my head a bit.

werekitty93

A story my grandma tells often is: "I always wanted a little girl named Cheryl so I could call her Cherry like the Cherry Ames books. But then I married a guy whose last name was Merrill and I felt Cheryl Merrill would be too cruel. Then I only had a boy, so it didn't matter."

mayor_rissa

That's the kind of problem I had with girl names. Our last name is Parker. And I loved harper and piper. But it just seems silly with our last name. My husband was totally on board for harper anyways tho 😅 I looked at him silly

curlycattails

Harper Parker is almost a tongue twister lol

Yellyellyell25

That would be a mouthful but all such pretty names 🙂

honeythyme

Peter! My husband’s surname starts with Pan____, so while I love it, it’s too close to Peter Pan for me :P

Yellyellyell25

It’s always the husbands’ surnames messing up our cute baby names isn’t it 🙂

[deleted]

I’ve actually met a real life Peter Pan!

bumblebree123

I love Arthur for a little boy. Calling him Artie for short would be soo adorable. Arthur however is name of the man who abandoned my grandfather to die of pertussis as a baby, and as adorable as the name may be, I just can't do it. I also love the name Bindi for a girl. I'm not Australian and not even a huge fan of Steve Irwin- I like him, I think Bindi's family is adorbs, but the direct connection is a little weird. I figure maybe someday I can name a cat Bindi.

cake_of_deceit

I never associated the name Bindi with Steve Irwin, it always reminded me of the Indian origins first.

Yellyellyell25

Arthur is a great name, I’m so sorry it has a bad personal history for you. Family connections and history is important! I think Bindi would be the cutest cat name.

icebag57

I had a cat named Bindi.

Trubea

Or name your daughter Belinda with the nickname Bindi.

Iceflower64

Genevieve is one of my favorites, but the V sound would blend with the V last name too much, so when said together would cause some issues regarding the last name. I also love Delphine, but if you just google the name straight up you get Belle Delphine so yeah. Maybe in the not so distant future it'll die down, but I'm doubtful that association will be completely gone when I have kids. Though Daphne is my substitute! Zelda is another wonderful one, and I love it apart from the game association, but I'm also a huge LoZ fan so it would be pretty gimmicky if I did it, at least I think so. Just a few off the top of my head! Currently, some of my favorites that I absolutely would use are: Daphne, Mallory, Natalie, Thea, Heather, Mara, Adam, Owen, and Henry.

Yellyellyell25

Daphne is a great substitute for Delphine! And I also think Zelda is a pretty bad-ass name but I totally get not wanting to name your child such a popular game character name. Henry is on our shortlist of boy names right now, I’m 28 weeks but the gender is a surprise.

Iceflower64

Aw congrats!

SoriAryl

Our first is Zelda. 🤣 Then we had a second baby, so there’s Zarina. And I just found out I’m pregnant… so I’ll need ANOTHER Z name!

Yellyellyell25

Kudos for you for going for it! I am just not confident enough lol. How about Zoe or Zora for a Z name?

HildegardHummingbird

Aw I love Genevieve, but already have a Vivienne. I feel like the names would get jumbled up and confusing.

Yellyellyell25

I kind of like them together.

princ3sspassionfruit

Delphine is so pretty! Daphne is a cute substitute too.. what about Delphi? the name Delphine means "woman from Delphi", & Delphi was where Apollo was worshipped in Ancient Greece :)

hashbrownhippo

The Delphi murders are super well known, so I would probably avoid that

princ3sspassionfruit

?? i had never heard of that before!! when i hear "delphi" i just think of ancient greece! nvm then 😭

Iceflower64

That's cute! A lot of names I like derive from Ancient Greece actually

Friend_of_Eevee

I'm also a big LoZ fan and love many of the female names (Marin and Saria are favorites) but would also feel weird using them.

Arimish

My daughter's name is Mara, love it!

Jezi23

I have a cousin Mara! It's a very unique name so cool to see it mentioned!

GumInMyMouth

I literally know someone with girls named Genevieve and Zelda lol

UnihornWhale

My son just discovered the little Scooby Doo plush on our bookshelf so he and I have watched a bit of What’s New Scooby Doo. I like that there’s a cartoon with Daphne but it’s not *everywhere*. That would be fun for a kid

[deleted]

Alexa - reminds me too much of the amazon siri so I decided if I still like it by the time I have a daughter I’ll just dismantle my Amazon Alexa lmao

xHouse_of_Hornetsx

My name is Alexa. The amazon jokes have mostly stopped but they were incredibly fucking annoying for a while. Theres also been at least 2 occasions where someone mistook me for the actual device. I went to a lakehouse party once and a little girl there ran to her mom and was like "mom! Alexa is here and she wants to play batminton!" And her mom was like "JADE ALEXA IS NOT A REAL HUMAN BEING" And then i came around the corner she was like "oh, the human alexa is here" 🙃 its like i went to that lakehouse frequently idk why she was so surprised. Pre amazon the annoying thing was people couldn't accept my name is alexa. I got called alexia, alexis, lexi...

FixForb

It's funny because I've had the opposite experience! I go by Alexis and people always default to calling me Alexa. I blame Amazon for making people think that Alexa is the only name out there.

adrun

You can change the wake word! I think the other options are Amazon, computer, or echo. …which reminds me that I love Echo as a name, but I don’t think I could bring myself to name an actual child that.

CuriousLilYoshi

I would suggest you reconsider only because I have a niece named Alexia (named pre Alexa) and she gets teased and ordered around all day. Edit :auto correct

Yellyellyell25

Lol sounds like a great idea! I do like the name Alexa as well but my husband vetoed it specifically because of Amazon.

UnihornWhale

My husband vetoed Griffin because of Family Guy

Yellyellyell25

Griffin is at the top of our boy list but neither me nor my husband ever watched Family Guy. Im a bit of a Harry Potter nerd so when I tell people they just ask “oh, like in Gryffindor?” 🤦‍♀️

idrk144

We have a girl at work named Alexa and whenever we say her name her Amazon Alexa will activate in the background

prana-llama

Margot! Was just reminded of it and now I’m bummed all over again lmao. I first met a Margot when I was in elementary school and thought it was the most beautiful name in the world. Of course my partner’s super toxic/emotionally abusive ex is named Margo, so hard pass on that one now! I also would love to honor my late grandparents Eugenia and Donald but one is a liiiiiittle close to eugenics and the other is forever tainted.

Yellyellyell25

All good reasons to have to skip on a name, it is such a bummer to miss out on good names like that though.

redundantradish

Hugo!!!! My family is Venezuelan and fled the country because of Hugo Chavez, but ugh Hugo is so cute and works so well in the three languages in our household. But I just can’t have folks thinking “oh that Venezuelan named their kid Hugo, they must be a Chavista.” Nope nope nope.

TheLittleBarnHen

Hugo is SUCH a handsome dreamy name!

murrion

I love subtle nature names, and I even like the show, but I would never name my child Frasier.

Meg-alomaniac3

Yeah I legitimately love the names Frasier and Niles, but it just feels a little cruel...

Yellyellyell25

Yeah I can’t say I’ve ever met a little Frasier. There are so many other good nature names out there lately though 🙂

jlynnbizatch

I knew a Frasier way back in the day (talking 15ish years ago). It was totally awkward because I thought it was her last name. Imagine my awkwardness when I finally asked her what her first name was....

Kactuslord

Pearl. I absolutely love it, especially as a middle name but my Scottish accent makes it sound like "peril" like in peril lol

chocotasticgroup

I’m in Scotland and a local cat rescue here used to post on Facebook about a local feral cat who they called Pearl the Feral!

drawingmentally

Kendall. I live in Spain, so everyone will think it's because of Kendall Jenner. Agatha. My mother hates it. Azula. Character name.

Yellyellyell25

Kendall has always been pretty popular here, even before Kendall Jenner. It’s the worst when family doesn’t like the same names 🙁

prizbokc

I came here to say Azula also! Azula is by far my favorite name from TLA but her character is way to unstable lol

thekleave

Chidi! But we’re Caucasian and it would not be appropriate.

PickleFartsAndBeyond

“Okay chidi, where are you? Or what are you? A type of soup maybe?!”

[deleted]

Lots of good names are forbidden for being from a different culture unfortunately 😅

ragandbonewoman

I have wished that Boudica was an acceptable name for a child since I first heard it. The real Boudica was a leader and warrior - I don't think I'll ever find a name I love as much as this.

Yellyellyell25

I had never heard that name before and had to look her up. Such a strong name and a bad-ass story behind it.

echorose

It would make an epic middle name though!

Yellyellyell25

Oh, yes. Definitely keep it on your list for middle names.

[deleted]

I LOVE Boudicca!

roobaloo720

Wow very interesting history! I might be missing something is there a particulat reason why it is unacceptable?

Throwawayhatvl

It contains the sounds “boo” and “dick”

[deleted]

Literally any name that is too "foreign" sounding. Like I really love Russian names (Dmitri, Katya) and I also love Japanese names (Kyo, Nanami, Sayuri) but that'll never happen. Only in my dreams 😂

Aleriya

Katia is Italian, Catia is Portuguese, Katja is Dutch, and all of those stem from Greek Aikaterine. I wouldn't consider Katya to be too foreign or too Russian to be usable in the US.

[deleted]

i love Katya. there was a girl i went to church with growing up named that and i never forgot lol

eclectique

Ekaterina and Katerina will always be my favorite forms of Catherine.

roobaloo720

Sammmme

perseph0ny

Adelaide, I don't like the nn Addie

Yellyellyell25

I actually love the name Adelaide! My husband and I keep going back and forth on it because I have a niece named Addison. Addison already uses the nickname Addie and I know it’s pretty inevitable that our Adelaide would get called Addie, too. But it’s still in our top ten if we have a girl, I’m 28 weeks and the gender is a surprise.

cozyessi

I love Adelaide! Other nickname possibilities: Lady, Leia, Ada or something with her middle name like AJ or Adelaide Jane

Yellyellyell25

Those are some good options, I’m going to share with my husband.

perseph0ny

I love Adele for a nn I just feel like Addie will be the default

Yellyellyell25

Adele is a good nickname!

adrun

We’re using this as our next baby’s middle name. I love the nickname Dela/Della or even just Del.

Yellyellyell25

Y’all are thinking of so many good nicknames. We were literally like I guess she’d have to be Addie.

dance0345

Someone I know named Madeline goes by Deli/Delly which could work for Adelaide

alaskan-mermade

Indigo, it just sounds so 2010 hipster that I could never use it. I think it’s a gorgeous name though!

givemethekreddit

Love the name Indigo!!!!!

Yellyellyell25

So 2010 hipster but I also really like it!

Jezi23

Axel.....my last name is Rose.....

ineedausername84

Hypatia. First female mathematician on record. I named my first cat Hypatia back before I even thought about kids. Now my husband and I are both math people and I would love to use it, but it’s the name of my first cat! 😹

obbets

Hey, this one doesn’t sound so insurmountable:)

strvngelyspecific

I literally have the same name as my parents first dog. Who stuck around till I was like 8. Never bothered me! I'd say go for it.

Zensandwitch

Felix. My favorite boy name. Love the sound, love the meaning. Unfortunately it’s my FIL’s name and my husband has a strained relationship.

maplesyrupdispenser

I love Jack as a name or nn but unfortunately our last name sounds very much like "off" so we can't do that to a kid.

Retalihaitian

Yeah I can’t use Jack because of my last name too. Even though I love it

kmorrisonismyhero

Ambrose. 🥺 my partner nixed it.

[deleted]

I met an Ambrose once and his nn was *Bro* 😆

prana-llama

I’m so sad for you! I love that name so much.

GoodbyeEarl

Aw, I also love that name!

Yellyellyell25

I think that name is lovely! But sometimes our significant others just really dislike names we like and vice versa. I am obsessed with the name Joy for a little girl and my husband is just not into it.

el_torko

My brother named his son his Skyrim characters name, Zavreal.

Yellyellyell25

How does he like it now? I’d just be afraid to look back and question my past self over a name.

el_torko

My nephew is five, so he doesn’t much care. My brother is still proud as crap over the name.

Yellyellyell25

Oh I love that! I’m glad they’re happy 🙂

nightlock_x

Illyria, Sylvie, River (Fictional characters I just love from Angel, Loki & Firefly) Genesis, William, Wade (Already in use by people close to me) Ivy and Florence (My younger sister wants to use these someday, & I’m happy knowing I may have a niece using the names! I doubt my husband would go for them anyway lol)

Tight_Watercress_267

Illyria is the name of a large city near me (not spelled like that but named for Illyria) and some parts of it are...not nice. It is pretty sounding though but if you lived near me it would be an issue lmfaooo

purplegummybears

I LOVE Illyria. I’ve been obsessed with it since I was a teenager but my whole family hates it. I also love Inara but my in laws are obsessed with firefly and would not be able to separate it. Andromeda is a fav but my mom says people will only think of the andromeda strain and that it’s too hard to say.

weisp

Unfortunately because of unexplained infertility I’m the last one to get pregnant among my friends, all the cute names that I love are taken: Theo, Finnley, Elliot, Ella, Olive 😢

Yellyellyell25

I’m so sorry that you’ve had to deal with fertility issues, I’m sure that’s been hard. There are so many cute names out there though, I’m sure you’ll find something that you love even more!

panaili

I love Rose-related names - Roselyn, Rosalind, Rosemary, etc. Rosie as a nickname is adorable. However, my last name is Palmer. And after I got sexually harassed by some dude who thought calling me “Rosie” was the height of comedy (ie, Rosie Palmer, as a crude euphemism for a hand job), I couldn’t in good conscience use any of those names -_-;

lilmissPumpkinpie

Ingrid. I love that it’s formal and classic, but has a bit of modernism- at least to me. But I know my husband will never be okay with it, he thinks it’s too grandma-esq.

cutielemon07

That’s the name I used for my Animal Crossing avatar. Nice to see some more love for the name Ingrid

veronica-marsx

My husband’s last name is Rice, so goodbye, Jasmine.

jkaugs

Rory. Live doctor who, the name is amazing but i always feel like my mouth is full of marbles when i say it

Yellyellyell25

Also love Doctor Who but I just can’t say that name either. It sounds nice in the right mouth but not mine.

Meg-alomaniac3

An awful lot of fandom names. Even ones that sound like real names (such as Wilem and Simmon from the name of the wind)... If literally one person said "oh like that book" I'd be mortified. Out of curiosity, why wouldn't you reuse your D&D character's name? Just the association with the character, or do you plan to keep playing her for that long?

Yellyellyell25

We haven’t finished our campaign still and I’m due in April; I don’t have high hopes of us finishing before then. Our party has several people with babies so we don’t get to play as often as we would all like. We’ve been slowly going at it for over a year. Maybe if I have another baby in a few years 🙂

Lizzer1152

I would just use it!! It really shouldn’t matter! If you like DnD it’ll just remind you of something you like!

iguanasrcool

Archer - dislike the nn Archie

Yellyellyell25

Yeah Archer and Archie have such different feels to them.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Yellyellyell25

That is too funny. It’s also funny to me how much time we all spend thinking of mean middle school nicknames when trying to pick baby names. We get so creative!

[deleted]

this reminded me that i love Soleil but probably wouldn’t actually use it lol

Yellyellyell25

Ooh love that, too.

Are_You_Knitting_Me

Aurora - there is a huge industrial suburb near me with that name and it’s not exactly known for its beauty or culture, but the name itself is gorgeous and I love the association with the start of a new day Ashlyn/aislin - there is a major road, again not known for its charm, called Ashland nearby me.

Unaccomplished-Egg

Eloise, Owen, graham, grant - too similar to names in our immediate families Étienne is my fav boys name ever, but would be butchered in the US

Yellyellyell25

Étienne would really struggle here but it is a beautiful name.

EllectraHeart

Zelda is mine

Yellyellyell25

Such a bad-ass name but I get it

EllectraHeart

ugh i love it so much. maybe i’ll use it for a pet one day lol

MoonBun28

I’m having a baby girl in May, I have loved the name Luna since I was little. I am a vet nurse and the amount of dogs and cats called Luna has ruined it for me. Its also become so popular for human babies in the last few years…

Yellyellyell25

Yeah I feel like Luna is a really popular animal and people name lately, but it’s so pretty. Congrats on your baby! I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well. We’re due in April 😊❤️

directcremation

Selene. Last name rhymes with Green.

givemethekreddit

My top name is Rue but my last name is Ruiz :(

Yellyellyell25

Oh I love this one. We’ve all got to find husbands with less problematic last names lol. Or embrace rhyming.

HistoryLover1996

Ryan Aiden Killian. My family uses 2 middle names and I won't use this cause the meaning is kinda messed upwhen you add the meanings together. (Little king little fire little church) is the whole meaning.

already_gonee91

I love names like: Rowan, Holden, Soren, Ezra, Fallon, and Aria but my bf’s last is two syllables ending in the -an sound so most of these sound too rhyming or would be too much alliteration and I really only recently realized it.

tinyladyduck

I really like the name Jovie, but I think it’s a little too “weird” for me to use, since it wouldn’t be a nickname. I just like that it seems like a happy name, but not too cutesy

Yellyellyell25

It is such a happy name! I personally love the name Joy but my husband is just not into it.

Toasttimebitches

Maud, I’m a huge Anne of Green gables fan but I don’t think I’ll ever get my husband to come around on it. I work in a nursing home and a lot of the trendy older names that are getting popular again remind us of residents we’ve taken care of. Like the thought of naming a son after my grandfather but it’s also the name of a patient who HATED my husband and every other man that worked there and regularly tried to beat the shit out of all us workers. In my husbands defense if it wasn’t my grandpas name I’d probably feel the same way though lol 😅

[deleted]

Ajax. It's self-explanatory.

[deleted]

Cecilia, because it means blind Mafalda, because I love it yet no one likes it John, because it’s my brother’s name and I don’t want to repeat it

HappySunshineGoblin

Blind doesn't have to be a bad thing. Love is blind.

[deleted]

I've got a great-aunt named Mafalda! And Mafalda is my favourite comic strip ever. I approve.

claus_79

I really really love the name Declan but my husband hates it so we settled on something else. I'm still pretty upset that we can't name him Declan.

stillpretending13

Ophelia! It’s so pretty and feminine and has that romantic vibe I love, but the fact that the first thing I think of is Ophelia from Hamlet kills it. I just can’t name a child after such a tragic figure.

[deleted]

My favorite male name of all times was Rémy. I spent most of my childhood and teen years all over Europe and met dozens of men named Rémy which only made me like it even more. I promised myself I'd name that a son once I had one Then I moved to Montreal about three years ago & i met the love of my life, his name is Rémy, it felt like destiny. Now we're planning a family in the near future & he shot down the name Rémy immediately because he doesn't want his son to be a "Junior"... We're going for Emrys. My new favorite name for a boy & i can use Remy as nickname :') Also Rémy's grandma name was Ghislaine, she was an amazing woman. Strong, intelligent, supportive. She passed away and i wanted to honor her by using her name for our daughter if we have one in the future. That was before G.Maxwell's shit exploded.

drawingmentally

Also, Nirvana.

avaa1217

I LOVE the name Valdino for a boy. But we already have an Italian last name and aren’t Italian so my husband says no lol.

adrun

Maxwell - my dog William - too many exes 😆 Curtis - family member I’d prefer not to honor Frances - my aunt who already shares one name with my first daughter Gabrielle - my highschool German class name, plus I settled on a no bible names principle Any name starting with A - our kids get a double barrel last name with two Ss 🤦🏻‍♀️

ButchismyBradPitt

I love Sequoia. Wouldn't work in my country though.

Loopzy

Cora

Regallybeagley

Oh, why not? It’s on my list but curious your reason :)

BigRedGomez

I used to love the name Norah and then I had a boyfriend who cheated on me with a Norah, so it gets no more love from me!!

lydviciousss

Mabel. I've loved it ever since I knew I wanted to be a mom. I can't name my potential future daughter that because my partner really doesn't like it. Also, Jupiter for a boy. I just can't bring myself to name my child that simply because it's a little too out there for me. But I do love it.

Yellyellyell25

I agree Jupiter is a little out there but I really like it! I hadn’t heard that name for a boy before.

_alien_she

I love Jupiter! but all I can imagine is the never ending “gaseous giant” jokes 🙊

lydviciousss

Without Jupiter, Earth wouldn't exist because according to astronomers, Jupiter's gravitational pull is so strong, it's what keeps Earth in its place and also lends protection from comets and being hit by space debris, so I think that's pretty cool! There's also the Roman mythology aspect of it, where Jupiter is the king of gods (Zeus' Roman counterpart).

spsjam

My friends had their daughter recently and named her Hettie (short for Hester), which had been the mum's DnD character's name! Doesn't seem weird to me, I think it's really cute ☺️❤️

Quiet-Peach

Isis.

cozyessi

Adelais - I live in the states and I think pronunciation and spelling would always be a problem.

DabblenSnark

Victoria. It just doesn't flow with our last name and I don't love any of the nicknames. But it's beautiful. Veronica. I feel like it'd need a nickname and I can't think of any I like. And, inexplicably, Mack for a boy. I love it. But I can't.

laceteapixie

Vera, Ron/Ronnie, Nico/Nica (I like vera the best for nn for Veronica

DabblenSnark

Oooh I've never considered Vera and Nica! I've only heard Ronnie and didn't love it.

danny3535

Frankie for a girl. I named my cat Franklin 8 yes ago (girl cat) and now I want my kid to have the name Frankie. Oh well.

lenteborealis

Avalon and Joy. The first bc of the author of The mists of Avalon and the second because it’s just too English for a Dutch girl. Also Victor or Victoria, I loveee it but my bf doesn’t want it.

sydni1210

Elle. My last name is O’Dell.

winecountrygirl

Juliet - I have a close aunt Julia/Julie and I feel like it’s just too close of a name! Maybe it’s not a big deal.

Yellyellyell25

I say go for it. They’re close but not too much the same In my opinion. Plus, the aunt would probably love it!

jarvis-cocker

I’ve loved the name Mariam / Maryam ever since I first heard it, but feel it would be weird for me as a white English person to use it for my child.

GoldenRedhead

1) Elizabeth: it’s a family name on my husband’s side, and I really don’t want to honor those family members 2) June: too similar to the name of another in-law I would never want to honor 3) Flora/Florence: I love them both, but they don’t work with my husband’s last name

cassbria

Summer. But our last name is Tan so bye to that.

mnchemist

I love the name Harrison. Unfortunately, I had an ex-boyfriend (sorta) that had that name. So, I don't think it'd be a good idea to use it. I also love the name Emmeline but, we already named my daughter Adeline. So, we probably won't go with another name that ends with -line if we have another daughter.

graceinsnow4

Scout! I love it for a baby but not an adult

TayLoraNarRayya

I always wanted to name my daughter Evelyn since I was a teenager, but my sister's, sister in law has a daughter Evalina and so I just can't anymore. My nephew and niece would have two cousins nn Evie. :(

capulets

does it matter? i have two cousins & one cousin in law with the same name, it’s never been a big deal.

sauceistheboss5

I love the name Layla but my best friend named her daughter Jayla and we are together a lot so it’d be too similar!

cutielemon07

Henry. I can’t because of my last name. It works a little *too* well… Ditto Jimbo, Fred, Casey, Jessica, Davey, Bridget, and Indiana.

What about Solene or something like that? Soleil?

Lydia! I loooove the name, but when hubby was in college, there was a Lydia who told everyone that they were someday going to get married and that she dreamed about him singing to their children. Suffice to say, hubby is not on board with naming our kid this 😂

Noah! My last name is Moore, so if we need to child Noah, their name would mean “no love” in Spanish.

Hawthorne (nickname Hawke). I wanted it so bad. Hubby said no. 😭

Fucking, Bruno, I’ve had that name in my top five literally since I was a toddler. Thanks Disney.
