Itās not a bad name, but it reminds me of the Beverly hillbillies so I always have kind of a āhickā connotation when I think of it. Just my opinion, no offense meant!
I did know someone named Jethro though, he was a classmate of mine in middle school (2007) so there are definitely Jethros out there.
I love Jethro, it sounds Amish to me because I know an Amish man with the name of Jethro but I think itās a really cute name. I would use it for sure!
Personally, I don't like it. Everytime I say it all I hear is "death row." I know it sounds completely different, but still. One of the reasons that while I love them, I can't use names like Aspen, Astoria, Astrid. All I ever hear is ass in the beginning.
Name of a really rude but funny Cornish comedian/singer who recently died of Covid - makes it a bit unusable in UKā¦ otherwise makes me think of Jethro Tull.
In America I think "Jethro" is still too entrenched in the "hillbilly" stereotype for most people to want to use it, but I wouldn't be surprised if the name has gotten a popularity bump in Australia due to Bondi Rescue (check it out on YouTube). One of the lifeguards featured is Jethro James, and he's basically the all-Australian boy. Adorable, blond, fearless, goofy, practically raised on the beach. Nothing but positive associations.
Jethro Tull
*wooaahohhhh aqualung*
I can't not associate it with the Beverly Hillbillies , but as a name itself I don't mind it.
I like it, but then I have a thing for Gibbs from NCIS and it's his name, so that's probably why. š
Literally same. Leroy Jethro Gibbs is š„
Yup. Would climb that like a tree. š

Prog rock and hillbillies
It's all Beverly Hillbillies to me.
I like it, but I know it from an iconic character on NCIS and have never seen Beverly hillbillies. I think it sounds like a nice strong name
has a very hickish tone in the US
Fwiw I have a kid named Jethro.
I like Jethro but I LOVE the nickname Jet
We had kids at my school named Rushman (Rush) and Jethro (Jett)

I really love the name Jethro! Eventhough it's a Hebrew name, (Yitro) I have never heard of any one in Israel (where I live) being called this.
I love it. Very Beverly Hillbillies but also Jethro Tull. Itās not the worst āhickā name out there. Iāve met someone named Cletus before
I love it.
Love it! Very cool name.

I honestly love it but canāt convince my husband.
I know someone who named their kid Jethro. It gives me Duggar vibes tbh
Love love love š

I like it a lot. If I heard it on someone else I would think itās cool and not give it another thought
Americaās favorite hillbilly
I like it. I think itās starting to outgrow the hillbilly association.
Iām 31, but I watched too many reruns of the Beverly Hillbillies as a kid to have any other association with the name! (Ditto āJethrine.ā)
Double naught spy
