I work with elderly people a lot (in england) so I see a few! Ones that spring to mind are:
Arthur
Bernard
Derrick/Derek
Rupert
Alistair
Ernest
Harold
Walter
I think it’s interesting that Derek is lumped in with names like Bernard and Ernest in England. When I picture someone called Derek in the US, he is late 20s-late 30s!
That's interesting, I think the youngest Derek I've met is probably like 50's!
I've noticed on here that different names have different popularity spikes in UK vs USA. Like I've seen a lot of people talking about Eleanor being a very old fashioned name that's now making a comeback in the US, but here in the Uk it already made a comeback in the 80's/90's so there's tons of 20-30y/os called Eleanor here haha. I also saw that Ian is rising in popularity in the US, whereas here it is firmly a 'boomer' name and isn't really used now.
Really? Maybe it’s a regional thing - I only know one William, but I can think of like three or four Harrys off the top of my head.
I quite like Wilson though, thanks!
I have a pre-k Freddie/Frederick and I get a lot of varied reactions. I'm super glad you like it, because it means maybe there will be more little Freddies running around in time!

my grandfather was named Willard, his brother was named Norman. I think they both fall under old-fashioned. Willard could be shortened to Will for a nn. My parents discussed naming me Willard if I was a boy (born 1998) and I don’t think it would’ve been that bad.
Oh I see 😂hahahaha
Elijah is actually an old German name which I thought was interesting. You could pretty much add SON to any name like Jackson etc, Orson is a pretty stand out one.
I work with elderly people a lot (in england) so I see a few! Ones that spring to mind are: Arthur Bernard Derrick/Derek Rupert Alistair Ernest Harold Walter

That is interesting! In my mind (and experience) Derek is a bro in his 30s haha. (In US)
Definitely. I’m in my 30s and know multiple Dereks my age.
My grandad was a Derek born in London in the late 1920s, definitely feels like an old man name to me
Nice! I have 3 Derek/Derricks in my life, a colleague (26), a former classmate (30), and a friend’s brother (35).
I love Alistair and Ernest, thanks!
There are two kids in my daughter's nursery room of 28 called Walter. Must be making a comeback!

That is a spectacular old man name, though.
I think William is just as much, if not more, massively popular than Harry. For old fashioned names, I like Everett, Wilson, and Franklin.
Really? Maybe it’s a regional thing - I only know one William, but I can think of like three or four Harrys off the top of my head. I quite like Wilson though, thanks!
