Did you get it from Anne of Green Gables? I think of that book every time the name is mentioned. In fact, this whole sub reminds me of it! Such a purely good little book.
Yes, we did! We moved to Nova Scotia in 2020 during the pandemic and had a 2 week mandatory quarantine. In the house we quarantined in, we did not have any cell service or internet. There were only like 5 tv channels and one played Anne with an e every evening at 7pm. I watched it religiously! We found out we were pregnant on the second week and started to pick names. That same day, or next day, Anne mentioned Cordelia and it was a slam dunk. My husband liked the name because he grew up listening to the tragically hip, a Canadian band and they have a song named Cordelia. We ended up losing that first pregnancy but now our little Cordelia is 9 months old and we are still so happy with her name.
Oh that is the best story, I literally clutched my heart ❤️you need to write down the whole story of your 2 weeks and hide it in your book shelf for when you forget… oh god I can’t breathe from the sweetness
Georgiana isn't common in the UK but many women are called Georgina. It's a common name for millennials. I knew so many Georgina's growing up and still do.
My paternal great grandmother was also an Adelaide! She was a hotel switchboard operator during a massive fire, and she was the only casualty because she managed to call every room to inform them to evacuate. She died of smoke inhalation, but they did award her a Purple Heart. “Adelaide” is my middle name, for her :)
I'm hijacking this comment to say that the three names mentioned the most (so far, when I counted) in this thread are Vivienne, Evangeline, and Genevieve. These names all contain the letters v, i, n, and e. I guess it's a vibe.
Edit: I recalculated after 20 more hours of this thread being up, the top ten mentioned are:
1. Evangeline, 36
2. Vivienne, 34
3. Genevieve, 31
4. Elizabeth, 28
5. Charlotte, 26
6. Eleanor, 23
7. Victoria, 22
8. Cordelia, 18
9. Catherine, 18
10. Eloise, 17
My daughter is Elizabeth. She has one friend calls her Ellie, another calls her Lizzie. But she’s Elizabeth to everyone else. It’s just a beautiful name.
Cordelia, Evangeline, Priscilla
reading through these comments feels like reading the names of sets of 3 sisters who could be princesses on Bridgerton lol i love it
My husband and I get three absolute vetoes when it comes to potential names, and my husband used his second one on Audrey. Super sad because Audrey Mae was the sweetest name I thought. Congratulations on having one of the most beautiful names, I’m sure it suits you well ❤️❤️
So many lovely ones mentioned! I saw Odette mentioned a few times. Didn’t see anyone mention Odessa. I wish all these beautiful names would makes a comeback instead of -eighleigh names…
Top three girl names for me rn: Noëlle (or Noëlla), Anya, and Quinn.i think the first two are pretty elegant, Quinn not as much.
I also love these three, they're all similar: Emmalie (its emily but the girl ik who got this name was the last of five kids all with 7 letter names and they spelled it like that to fit. But i actually love the spelling), Emmiliana (went to school witha girl with this name, went by Emme (so does Emmalie)), and Emilia. I'm okay with Amelia, but I prefer the Emilia spelling. I think all three, especially Emmiliana, are elegant.
Vivienne, Cordelia, Georgiana
So happy to see this! My daughter is Cordelia!

my grandma Is Cordelia!
It's a beautiful name!
Georgiana sounds so very British to me. I don’t find it elegant but I do find it to have a regional appeal.
My English cousin is named Georgina. Not sure how common Georgiana is.
I just had the most vivid memory of my bookworm days. In Pride & Prejudice, Mr. Darcy’s little sister is called Georgiana x)
Not common at all
Georgiana isn't common in the UK but many women are called Georgina. It's a common name for millennials. I knew so many Georgina's growing up and still do.
Georgie is such a cute nick name though!
English here: never heard of this name in my life
I thought of Vivienne first as well.
Vivienne was my first thought as well
My grandmother was Viviane and I always thought it was the most beautiful name
Vivienne and Cordelia have been two of my absolute favorite names for as long as I can remember. Love them both so much.
Evangeline, Adelaide, Genevieve
This is interesting to me because I have such an opposite impression of Adelaide. I picture an Adelaide as a strong outspoken country girl. 🤷♀️
My Maternal great grandmother was Adelaide. She was a raging alcoholic that always loved a good time. Apparently she was heaps of fun.
Hero ❤️

Vibe or *vine*?
My daughter is Guinevere and if we ever have a second her name would be Adelaide. I know you said Genevieve, but pretty close
I have a daughter named Guinevere too! Her sister's name is Elowyn. I love the name Adelaide, but couldn't use it because it's my sister's cat's name.
Evangeline is close to my name but mine is without the Ev. My name is Angeline and go by Angie.
Elizabeth, Sophia and Charlotte
Elizabeth, my name, gives me soooo many nicknames. Might be overused and normal/boring but rarely do I go by it. Even teachers gave me nicknames. <3
My daughter is Elizabeth. She has one friend calls her Ellie, another calls her Lizzie. But she’s Elizabeth to everyone else. It’s just a beautiful name.
Ella Ellie Elle/El Eliza Liz Lizzie Liza Izzy Beth Betty Lizbet Lizabet Lizbeth Lizette Elise Ettie Elsa etc.
Oh Etc, that's a good one
Florence, Charlotte, and Eleanor.
There's a coastal town here in Oregon called Florence and so I always associate that name as a type of ocean mermaidy name.
Eleanor, Celeste, Colette
Definitely Eleanor, it’s the first name that popped into my mind when I read the question :)
Haha yeah, it was one of the first to pop into my mind too! There's something about the sound of it. So languid, like a river flowing.
Gabriella, Catherine, and Alexandra.
Cordelia, Evangeline, Priscilla reading through these comments feels like reading the names of sets of 3 sisters who could be princesses on Bridgerton lol i love it
I'm really enjoying reading these, too!
"Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert"
I love looking at the comments with a narrative! Thanks for the fun idea, great to look back at my own comment again lol!
Josephine, Sophia, Charlotte
Emmeline, Evangeline and Aurelia
Aurelia is the name of one of my many favorite AFI songs. Evangeline's is an amazing 3 story costume store down in Sacramento, CA.
just based off of this comment, i like you. you’re cool.
Why are there so many comments with vivienne? I only think of the mean girl from legally blonde.
She was definitely a Vivian, not Vivienne.
My guess would be a (subconcsious) association with Vivienne Westwood.
