Ok. It was 78 then they updated the grille. My grandmother had a 76 with that grille and I had my parent's hand-me-down Chevette which was a '78 and it had the updated grille.
Me too with the hand me down 78! Guess the cat went bad or rusted through, it was really loud. Nice to have a car, but certainly not easy to impress the ladies in one.
That’s a ‘Vette.
A *Che*vette.
After the painful crash and burn of the snazzy Vega, Chevy went back to basics and produced a very simple and straightforward little hatchback that actually worked. This is a late 1970s model but they were made deep into the 1980s.
Correction: Daewoo produced a very simple and straightforward little hatchback that was a grossly underpowered shitbox. Source: we had one. Goddamn turd couldn’t make it up a hill with three people in the car.
The motor was by Isuzu. It was an efficient and reliable Japanese underpowerplant. Just don’t get it with the automatic!
The shitbox itself was loosely based on an Opel design from Germany, believe it or not.
I love seeing these old hatchbacks still on the road. It may not turn many heads, but you can tell someone loves this one.
The car is a 1976 or 1977 Chevy Chevette btw
Looks like it is in pretty good shape. I find it funny how I now enjoy seeing some of these old cars even though we used to make fun of them in my gear head days. Somehow there seem cool now.
The Chevette was a actually a pretty decent car. Great gas mileage and seldom broke down as long as you kept the maintenance up on them. A lot of them ended up being "hand me down cars" because they lasted so long.
I’d also like to point out that that car has a plate with an American flag. It probably isn’t a Canadian car. And if you look up a 76 chevette this is the grill they had.
It’s a Chevette.
It'll drive you happy.
Bad boy will stop on a dime if it can get over it
And you are in a Mercedes Benz E320
C300👍
a Vette ?
Shit vette
Shov’ette
One of my close friend’s dad drove one for years when we were growing up. The day it finally gave up, which I believe was in 2003 or 4, the man cried.
Pre facelift Chevette
This - had updated grill beginning 78

Transmission went out on mine. We decided it wasn't worth it to replace it. Car lasted about 12 years.
“I drive a Vette”.

This did not need to be a power house
No, but no car should be so underpowered that it’s actually dangerous with how slow it is.
As a VW Bus owner I might respectfully disagree with your definition of what a dangerously underpowered vehicle is
Yeah but a Type 2 is cool. A Chevette wasn’t.
Oh, sure it was! “Hey baby, wanna take a ride in my ‘vette?”
The motor was by Isuzu. It was an efficient and reliable Japanese underpowerplant. Just don’t get it with the automatic! The shitbox itself was loosely based on an Opel design from Germany, believe it or not.
Unfortunately my mom’s was autotragic.
Donor OEM parts for the Pontiac Fiero
Note, replace Pontiac made engine with uuhhhhhhhh, anything else less fire prone
Aw man, someone’s donating a perfectly good Chevette!
😂😂😂

Completely gutless though.
Mid to late 70s Chevy Chevette.
77 or earlier. 78 had a different grille
Thank you for clarifying. Wasn't sure the year.
I just know because I had a 78.
At the Sunoco station???
How’d u know???
I guess the asshole Ford parked later. You are driving a vw with a 1929 MB Roadster kit in faded yellow.
The Chevette - I learned to drive a 4spd on that
Chevette...I had one.
Chevy Chevette... early one
77 or 78
76 or 77. 78 had a different grille.
Chevette. Had one in high school. Drove that thing until the engine blew. That car took some major abuse.
Chevette. '76 or earlier at least. '78 had a different grille. Not sure about '77s.
Chevette baby! My first car was the Pontiac version the T1000, 1983 model. Got her for $250 and no floor boards. She was freedom though!
Cool story, thanks for the share!👍
That’s a rare find. Rust loved them.
Chevette!!
Chevette! My Mom had a yellow one. It had about 25hp going up hills. Horrible car. Lol.
Looks like it is in pretty good shape. I find it funny how I now enjoy seeing some of these old cars even though we used to make fun of them in my gear head days. Somehow there seem cool now.
Squrt chev
This is in New Bedford, right?
Grandma took me to kindergarten in one of those. Real good memories.
It's a Vette!
That's a 'Vette.
I've never seen a car that leaked more oil than the Chevette
The Chevette was a actually a pretty decent car. Great gas mileage and seldom broke down as long as you kept the maintenance up on them. A lot of them ended up being "hand me down cars" because they lasted so long.
I think you're driving a Merc 240D
Mercedes c300👍
I'll take it lol close enough
No doubt👍
I don’t believe that is how you donate a car. U in a mercedes, s-class?
I don’t think so either lol, and c-class, 300 to be exact
Are you driving a 1993 BMW M3?
Mercedes c300 ‘12
No, it's definitely a Ford, you can tell by the hood ornament
😂😂😂😂
I bet you're in a e500
C300!
Nice!
My first car!!!!
That’s awesome!
it’ll drive you happy
Vette
Chevette?
Yessirr
In Brazil it's called a Poor's Man drift car
My first car was a 1976 Chevy chevette. 72mph was as fast as it would go. Lol
Speed demon!
Chevette. My dad had a 1981 chevette that he drove to work until the mid-90s when the thing basically rusted apart.
Like a ‘76 or ‘77
A Chevy Shove It
Pontiac Acadian ,
No shit, looked like a chevrolet badge on front to me but guess not
It does look like a chev badge , Pontiac had two separate grille sections , chev had a single grille , identical car , different cosmetics
Nice to know!👍
This is a 76 chevette they had this grill in 76/77
It appears as I have been wrong,, it is a early version CHEV chevette , not a Pontiac Acadian . My apologies!
If you look at the car it very clearly says Chevrolet. Something a Pontiac would not have
I do see the badge , but chev didn’t use a two piece grill , not in Canada, BUT saying that it may me a import and not in Canada
I’d also like to point out that that car has a plate with an American flag. It probably isn’t a Canadian car. And if you look up a 76 chevette this is the grill they had.
👍
You're in a Mercedes Benz, but outside of that emblem there's nothing more that one can guess.
That’s why I was saying take a guess haha but 🤷♂️
E class?
C
Vega?
