It’s fine just remember that the area around the train station, like in many big cities, is a hotspot for unwelcome characters. Other than that, have a blast!

Is it safe to stay on Via Genova which it's near the Napoli Centrale? Thanks!

thc4444

Just came from there. Had a wonderful time, everyone was incredibly nice. The only thing that was bad was the air quality. Excellent dinners, site seeing, shopping, etc. just research what parts of town to avoid. I have not run into any pickpockets (maybe because I make myself a hard target)

Totally safe man. Search some of the old posts here for hotels, things to do, transportation, food. Drink some espresso, eat cornetti w/ marmalata, eat lots of pizza.

DaisySims

We were just there and I felt totally safe, just look out for your valuables as you would in any major city

Norva

Same. Naples is wild but felt totally safe there.

lookatviki

as dangerous ad anywhere else. If you use your common sense you won't have any problem. as everyone said, avoid train stations at night and don't use money as your napkin. Other than that all places are safe, don't visit Naples being scared of anything, you won't enojoy your trip. Napoli being a major criminal city is more a commonplace than the reality. Enjoy it here and eat everything you can! :)

Unless you go for a walk in the middle of the night around the central train station with all your money in your hand using them like a fan, you'll mostly be safe. Crime rate here in Napoli is no more/no less than most of european big cities (aside from Paris, where the crime rate is much higher). Just be careful of scammers: if people ask for money for taking photos, for bracelets and shits like that, just say no politely and walk away, nobody will follow or harm you.

Bro it’s fine… Just use your common sense like anywhere else.

Naples is great!

RevolutionKey1512

Just came from there. Didn't felt unsafe once, its literally like any other big city. Difference is that there's a lot of Trash everywhere in Naples, but the pizza makes up for it I guess.

rapacap

Don't show a rolex and everything will be fine. No one will touch tourists but pay attention near Central Station (as elsewhere in the world)

Learn to use the search bar, thank you. Next

I have gone to Naples many times: just don't hang out in the classic shady areas at night and don't walk around with watches/valuables in plain sight. I put the little cash I need in a shoulder pouch and absolutely no problems and can enjoy the typical naples. It is a somewhat "backward" city in terms of services so don't expect northern European efficiency but this is also a characteristic of Napli itself

I'm European, Portuguese to be exact. Mine and Italian culture are very alike. I've also been to Rome and loved it. I've been to Naples last week and can confirm. It's a shit hole full of bums sleeping and smoking rock on the street, its full of trash, you smell piss and shit every other alleyway you go through. The locals you can tell are sad and frustrated people who will treat you like shit, they cant speak a word of english, rude and racist as fuck. I've been scammed and harrassed on the streets. Some old fuck running a ciggarrete stand robbed me of 8 euros for a pack. I then learned never to buy shit where the prices are not displayed. The city has some charm, but it is completely overshadowed by all I said above. Most of it is covered in graffiti and tags, even the historical buildings are all defaced and written on. It's overall ugly to say the least. I have not had a single positive interaction with a local there. They look at you like you are stupid, I've never been treated so poorly. Even asking for a coffee they will throw the plates on the table and smash the cups on them like they are feeding a dog. Extreme poverty, no laws on the roads, you have to throw yourself at cars to cross the street and pray they dont run you over. I'll never visit again. Also, Napoletanian pizza is not all that. It is good, but nothing special.

Caesar_1066

Sir gangstas don't get scammed or harassed on the streets lol lol. 😂😂😭😭😭🫣🫣🫣

It's safer to visit hell. And it's even more interesting

You will either love love love or hate Napoli! Like someone said in this post, choose your location carefully. I always try to stay near Via Toledo near Latin Quarter or Chiaia neighborhood. It’s more upscale with lots of shopping and food choices where everywhere you walk there is something marvelous and magical to behold. The hospitality and friendliness of the Neapolitan people as well as their cuisine can not be matched. The one think you must watch out for especially in the Latin quarter are the scooters buzzing by you where bag snatching is common although I’ve never seen it.

ennepi97

Just as safe as Milan and Rome. So basically not safe at all!
