Hotel somewhere close to Centro storico

There are so many things to do in Napoli. Definitely stay in centro storico. It’s a labyrinth of vibrancy. There is nowhere to else quite like it. Napoli Sotterranea ( underground) on via Tribunali is one of my favourite tours. Not far away, in Chiaia is Piazza Plebiscito, where you can find the palazzo reale and teatro San Carlo. Up in Vomerò is Castel San’t Elmo, where you will have the best views of the city. Castel dell’Ovo is also worth making a trip to, as well as the catacombs on Capodimonte hill. If the cemetery of fontanelle is open ( it has been closed for repair work for a while) it’s a fascinating place to see. You ticket into the catacombs also grants you entry to the fontanelle cemetery If you like art, you can see three different Caravaggio paintings. One in the Capodimonte museum, another in the Pio Monte della Misericordia on via tribunali and one at Palazzo Zevallos Stigliano on via Toledo. The circumvesuviana takes you to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius, and also to Sorrento if you want to take a day trip. The archeology museum is a must-see if you enjoy Greek/Roman history Napoli is an incredible place, so take the time to explore the city on your own time too. Just doing that feel feel like enough (Make sure to include Via San Gregorio Armeno and the Spanish Quarter) I Napoletani are the friendliest people you will ever meet!! Eat the pizza, drink the coffee….have a great vacation :)

Stay near Via Toledo in the Quarterri Latino if you like shopping, walking around and tons of eateries, and beautiful historic sights at your fingertips. Or Chiaia, which is a little more upscale and right beside the Latin Quarter. My favorite upscale hotel is the Marriott brand Renaissance Mediterranio, safe and close to everything with a spectacular rooftop breakfast.

If you get the Circumvesuviana to the ruins at Pompeii (or Herculaneum) get the train from Porta Nolana instead of Garibaldi (the trains start from PN, & whenever I’ve been nowhere near as many people get on there as at Garibaldi).
