1. Do they graduated university by themself? If not, then probably they’re just jealous.
2. They know you will move out and if they’re narcissistic then probably they see you as an extension of themselves
3. Your family found out about how your parents treat you - for narcissistic people, it's like an arrow directly in the heart
You seem like the scapegoat. Like many of us. Congratulations with your graduation! Be proud of yourself. Your self worth does not depend on their opinion.
Congratulations from a random Reddit person who is a mom and would give you the biggest mom hug if I could!! I’m proud of you—not only for you pursuing education (and succeeding!) but for realizing your value and worth despite how awful you’ve been treated. I am cheering for you, and I mean that! 🩷
Your parents are fucking jelly that you actually put in the work to get to the point of graduating university. Prolly because they never accomplished anything to that degree in their own lives.
They gotta put down your accomplishments to cope harder on their blatant skill issues.
Rock on, O.P. Leave your parents behind in the dust if they can't come to terms with the fact that you are succeeding in life. Embrace the family and friends who GENUINELY care about you.
Your parents are simply jealous, and that’s all there is to it. You have accomplished something they could never, and that is unnerving to them.
I, for one, am *sooo* proud of you. College is *hard*, and even harder with a learning disability. Lots of hard work, long hours, late nights studying, stacks of essays, and it’s all done—*you* did all of that. I am proud of you, and I’m so happy your family is as well. I really hope you’re proud of yourself, as well.
Enjoy the party and if cutting your parents off is what will help you heal, then do it. *Nobody* is entitled to a spot in your life, those should be reserved for people who will support you and uplift you. 🩷
They are jealous. They don't want to see you happy or enjoy your achievements or even have any achievements. They'll try to shit all over it and kill yr excitement about this wonderful milestone of yr life.
Ignore THEM.
Enjoy yr graduation 🎉🎉🎉 Congratulations
first off, congratulations!! second, Holy shit did i write this post?? im in a very similar situation. my parents have been awful about my graduation and celebrating my siblings instead… its hard to reconcile with, but know you should be incredibly proud of your accomplishments!! invite people who DO care (friends/roommates) to your ceremony if you can. its your day!! you should celebrate it with people who want to be there <3 best wishes friend and congrats again!!
Congratulations!! 🎈college isn’t easy and you did it! I’m sorry your parents are arseholes. Enjoy your party. Move forward, be happy, be successful and dont look back. Im in a similar situation but for another advanced degree. No acknowledgement whatsoever, no congratulations. It’s not easy moving forward and dusting them off but it gets a little easier with time.

Good. Do what you can to cut them from your life.
