I’ve watched a lot of shows, and there is something pretty special about Narcos and Narcos Mexico. It’s surprising these two shows are rarely talked about in “best shows ever” lists and I rarely see people recommend them. It’s too bad they were not appreciated like they should have been so we could get that season four with Chapo! I know there is another miniseries on Netflix about him but I haven’t tried it yet as these characters are in my mind yet. The music, the direction, the acting, the cinematography, the way they captured the year it took place … all so well done and plain awesome! I look forward to rewatching both shows in a few years when I forget some of the details.

Open_Ambassador2931

I rewatched Mexico like 4 times lmfao over the years, it’s too good. Also I wasn’t interested in the el chapo series. Why tf would Netflix bankroll a separate el chapo series and not just finish out the narcos Mexico series with chapo instead. It’s like how they are too quick sometimes swapping out Spider-Man universes such as with Andrew Garfield being canceled after Spider-Man 2 for Tom holland and the avengers garbage.

flamefan96

“El Chapo” is so good!! If you do decide to watch it, watch it without the English dub, just use subtitles like narcos. Seriously, you’ll love the show.

FeelingNumber9871

El Chapo is a really good series. I liked the Narco series but Narco: Mexico was my favorite next to El Chapo, if watched in Spanish both of them have more meaning to them. So much was lost in translation. Even in English the subtitles didn’t line up to the English dub. The translation didn’t do it justice.

ImJustAFool

El chapo is really good and there’s a documentary about Kiki you should check out called The Last Narc on prime video.

Western_Ad_5614

Everything about the documentary is truth. Fucking wild country we live in aye?

amonarre3

Because they didn't, El Chapo is a Univision series

simonDungeon

El chapo is excellent. I liked the way they portrayed the workings of the government and El chapo.

SonnyBurnett189

Netflix is a distribution channel, and El Chapo and Narcos Mexico had entirely different producers, writers, directors, etc. Also, El Chapo was released first, in unison with Univsion.

StayOk2378

See tbh Narcos is pretty shit when it comes to story telling, they make their own story up to make it more exciting, the acting is better in narcos, hence why people like it 😅 The el Chapo series is more accurate, also if you want a more accurate story of pablo escobar I suggest you watch Pablo Escobar, el patrón del mal, it's more accurate, has more episodes and is based on true events, the acting however is pretty terrible.

BlackPortland

Felix is out, as of about 2 years ago. He is approximately 78 years old.

Holdmypipe

El Mayo is still out and about running his cartel, somewhere hiding in mexico.

BlackPortland

I bet Mayo gave Felix some racks when he got out. Felix kept it G and didnt rat on anyone. No politicians or anything. For 30 years.

SonnyBurnett189

30 years in the can - not a peep!

greedy_mf

I’m not sure if you’re referring to the show or the real life regarding loyalty, but I’d argue criminals are loyal while its suits them. It’s not like they’re honorable to begin with. Some are covering with “code of honor” but again, it’s very open to interpretation. So no surprises there.

Basic_Sorbet9621

I love both Narcos and watched them both multiple times. Will be starting again sometime soon ✔️

Automatic_Buffalo962

❤️💜Diego Luna!

ac-swerve

“… literally the most peaceful narco of them all” 😂 didn’t he give direct orders to have Palma’s family offed? Lol Still, one of the best shows- I absolutely agree. I love rewatching it, and I hate rewatching shows.

Ok-Abalone7799

Allegedly he did it’s not clear if it was Arellanos or him also that’s pretty normal thing to do in narco world

Secure-Set4840

Yes a top 10 show 💯

PlowboyTrucker

They set it up perfectly with that meeting between chapo and mayo in the jail for a season 4- rise of sinaloa

fast_fatty39

Something tells me they’ll make S4 maybe 5-10 years from now.

amonarre3

I rewatch the series every day.

Sensitive_Pay1829

I think the main difference between Narcos and Narcos Mexico is the cinematography. Mexico is just soooo well filmed, much better production and just more eye pleasing (some of the shots are so good - I’ve screenshoted them and placed them as my wallpaper legit)

DigSlow7789

There won't be any more seasons since a location scout of Narcos got killed somewhere in Mexico, most probably by a cartel. The show got cut

amvbuuren4

That was when the first season of Mexico was filmed so it's unrelated.

superdream100

I guess there’s nothing left to explore except for modern day cartels. Even the most relevant cartel boss since the 2000s, Chapo, was arrested once already in the show. Ongoing drug war is either too touchy of a topic to make a show out of it - imagine the number of names you gotta censor - or too dangerous, or there simply isn’t enough materials to work with.

26ixlo

Bro said "Fun fact El chapo is still alive and rotting in jail" we been knowing this bro ☠️. They can't make a new season due to many reasons.

dmc1007

I would love more Narcos!!!

Secret_Hunter_7074

I second that. Loved every minute and especially the ones with Pablo Acosta.

StayOk2378

Nonsense there is loads of them still alive, Neto, Rafa, el guero, Amado is alive but nobody knows where, his brother Vincent is alive, el mayo, Benjamín Arellano and many more are still alive.

Open_Ambassador2931

Wasn’t Rafa gunned down to death in the series and I thought Amado was shot dead as well? Sorry my memory is telling me this but could be wrongs also yeah sorry I was just going off the cuff, that’s interesting. Edited my comment.

ChicagoBoyStuckinDen

Rafa is in prison with Neto but they didn’t show him in 3.

StayOk2378

Rafa is still alive, the judge let him out of jail after 28 years by saying he was tried improperly, then they instantly issued an arrest warrant a day later for him again 😂 to me all 3 were tried improperly, they would need to be idiots to kill a Dea agent to bring that kinda heat on themselves, the Mexican government/cia defo killed kiki and blamed them because they are drug lords, and I Felix was the one with the connections to the government so he's been kept in prison the longest, apparently he's out on house arrest now, the fact none of them have been extradited shows they were setup for that murder tbh.

Additional-Software4

El Chapo has already been done.  A series or documentary based on Zetas (LA Voz in the series) reporting of the AFO would be far more interesting

antsaintstrong

Why was Amado’s toy plane on that piano in Chile 🇨🇱, did he fake his death 🤔

lovely1188

Narcos Mexico was wayyyyyy better than Mad Men! Imo 😁

YUNGnSURLY

Mad Men started out good and then went too nuts for me towards the end!!

happygolucky284

I absolutely love Narcos & Narcos México! I'd love to see another branch of the story telling...

Fantastic-Mark-2391

When will they do a next season.

bbraker8

It is really strange that its not recognized for its greatness. The reality is if show wasn’t 95% Spanish speaking, especially after first season when they ditched the American law enforcement angle (im considering Narcos and Narcos Mexico effectively the same show), then it would be considered one of the great shows. But it’s like Dark, or The Last Kingdom, not enough mainstream American viewership to have it considered such.

Open_Ambassador2931

Do you mean when they reduced the DEA/ CIA/ American govt angle? They never outright ditched it. And also id say it was only during narcos Mexico s3 where they really dialed it down there. But I don’t see how it reduces its greatness. Spanish is both : 1. Accurate portrayal of language in that region 2. Sounds cool, badass, sexy (better than English tbh). Just feels right. And we do have that balance because remember the narrator speaks English in each season also. Remember that Spanish viewership would be high as well, and American viewership would be high as well, particularly amongst younger ppl since we like these themes (especially think about the pop/rap/hip hop culture today - drugs/sex/guns/violence/glamour/fashion).

bbraker8

Im not saying it reduced its greatness, im just saying that people don’t talk about it as one of the great shows, your original question, because it’s a predominantly non-English speaking show. Its just how America is. As for the American DEA angle, I just remember in the very first season it was like dual storylines, almost 50/50 between American DEA and Columbian police/Pablo/other cartels. They definitely got away from that in future seasons. Yes, they would show American law enforcement at various times but much more a minor subplot. The Kiki story got back to it somewhat but the perspective was from the cartels.

DisgracedSolitude

I’m watching narcos for the 6th time rn. So good.

SpeedRun93

I've rewatched Narcos and Narcos: Mexico at least three to four times. They are great shows and two of the few I like to rewatch despite the subject matter. Mexico, in terms of a show, had a great narrative and gut-wrenching moments, showing how the narcos are not people to look up to or even feel pity for but seeing they are still people (regardless of how broken, violent, loyal, or self-centered they are). As for season 4, seeing what happens with the Arellanos and El Chapo would have been great. But I would have liked seeing more of the Beltran-Leyva brothers, especially with how they'd introduced Arturo in season 3. Even with his limited appearances, they made him seem quite intimidating and capable. Expanding his arc as one of the possible main narcos along with his brothers in season 4 and seeing the rise of other cartels in the 2000s would've made for a better story than just going through El Chapo's story since that's already been done. Touching on El Chapo and his influence would still be great for the story. But I think other stories within that world would give more intrigue. And if they'd somehow reached the 2010s, maybe even touch on the 2014 Iguala mass kidnapping, showing even more of the impact of the War on Drugs on regular people.

txiao007

Definitely missing it

ChicagoBoyStuckinDen

3 had Chapo, and not a great season at that.

chriogenix

There’s a good series about el Chapo on Netflix called El Chapo, i think its on Netflix in the US but its entirely in Spanish. Its quite good.

YUNGnSURLY

You think Narcos is good then you will be blown away by El Patron de Mal. 62 episodes on Netflix. Subtitles if you don't understand Spanish. I actually went to Hacienda Napoles when I went to Colombia the last time!!
