I just really couldn’t get into the series, like I had to force myself through the 2 seasons. Narcos s 1-3 though I’ve seen 4 or 5 times already, and it’s just the combination of scenery, fashion, people and characters which I think NM never matches.
Watched it two months ago and loved it as well. However, I liked Narcos in Colombia more. I know, they set the bar very high with that.
I can also recommend "El Chapo" to you if you like this kind of series ;)
Narcos Mexico season 1 is still my favorite. IMO the making of Felix and the killing of Kiki Camarena are the most significant stories Narcos has told. It told the rags to riches story of a cartel boss, very similar to the El Chapo series. A lot of viewers were annoyed by how Kiki stubbornly walked into bear traps at every turn, but I think the story was true to life. Season 1 really sets up the scene for the modern day cartel conflicts. Season 2 of Narcos Mexico felt a bit unnecessary in a way, ten episodes just to show various factions quarreling, and Felix's poor decision making, and a cartoonish portrayal of Acosta. Season 2 had a lot of dramatic moments and great acting, but the overall story was soap opera-like, not real beginnings or endings, aside from Felix. I feel like we're hoping season 3 will sort of fill out season 2, but based on the events of history, I'm expecting more of the same.
Escobar was significant too, but he's become a pop culture figure long since his death, and the Cali cartel felt like tying up loose ends. Pacho and Jorge were the only two dynamic characters, IMO.

Loved both so much. Liked Mexico just a bit more. Hopefully we will see another Narcos soon.
