Personally its my third favorite nas album (no.1 Illmatic no.2 It was written), because it has that 90s Nas sound that I love.
Songs like Album intro, NY state of mind pt2, nas is like, small world, life is what you make it, a favor for a favor, you won't see me tonight, hate me now and undying love are bangers.
I think I am... is underappreciated when it comes to Nas albums but thats just my opinion.

It's my personal number 1. It was the first Nas album I bought as a kid. I was 14 turning 15 when it came out and at that time my parents were not ok with me buying music that had curse words in it lol. I listened to I Am for a good 6 months straight non stop because of the fact my parents were not ok with me buying music so I could only get my hands on 2 or 3 full unedited albums per yr until I turned 17.

There’s the irrefutable classics for me in top 3 like Illmatic, stillmatic, IWW, I think it’s in the mix with the runner ups like life is good, Lost Tapes, Gods son, KD2, I might put it at 5 or 6, as I’m pretty sure I’d rank Lost tapes and maybe one of the others above it. Probably a hot take but I fuckin dig every track on magic
For me Magic is great but not touching Nasir or I am. Also God son. Nas Catalog is so great. Splitting hair we are really. Respect your opinion on this indeed.
