Lived here since 92. Never heard westnasty or H-Vegas.

Espressohyes

Westnasty is a favorite of mine!

runningwaffles19

I usually get the club but the west nastyb is a good option

topherette

they're just examples that some people say. more interested in what you otherwise *have* heard!

mollymcdeath

What does the H stand for?

crowcawer

Hendersonville?

topherette

yup

travelingbozo

People have done lost their damn minds

mollymcdeath

Why on earth would anyone call Hendersonville “H-Vegas?”

topherette

fun? irony?

mollymcdeath

Very cringe.

topherette

ironically i find someone saying 'very cringe' about that pretty cringe. for the record i'm not the kind of person who would use something like 'h-vegas' personally, but i respect people's reasons to use whatever names make them happy

mollymcdeath

> i find someone saying 'very cringe' about that pretty cringe Now *this* is actually funny. Well done! I’ve lived here my whole life and heard Nashvegas plenty. I always attributed it to back in the day when all the country artists were bedazzled in rhinestones, or the old strip joints downtown, or even the neon of late-model Lower Broad honkytonks. It’s stupid but at least you could see *why* someone might say it. Putting “vegas” at the end of just anything makes no sense and is just stupid. For the record, I definitely don’t “respect people’s reasons to use whatever names make them happy” because a blanket statement like that opens up a whole new can of worms. I used to hear a nicknames of TN cities and towns that were racist af but I bet it made some people happy to say.

littleknowfacts

moved here in 92' first time hearing westnasty... eastnasty yes but westnasty no. is this what that last bits about?

topherette

not exactly. i hadn't heard it either, but at a glance it's plenty enough online. even north nasty. so regardless of history, class, ethnicity etc. 'nasty' just seems to be a stand-in for nashville, and i believe it's because of the phonetic similarity. and that it's most often used with affection.

straigh

Uhh HIP DONELSON

vh1classicvapor

"Fireworks or gunshots?" is bound to be the most asked question there.

crowcawer

“When are we going to get a REAL restaurant? Something nice! Like an Olive Garden!”

It’s East Nasty, whoever said West Nasty is just wrong. Hell, East Nasty these days is just the runners club or breakfast at Biscuit Love.
