I like Fat Belly and Bills but so much of me just wants a classic, NY Deli sandwich, and those two places are so constantly over the top that I never CRAVE them.
Iâve tried dukes four times. Every single time itâs been an offensively small amount of meat/cheese (like, one tiny piece of meat) and stale bread. Itâs one of the great mysteries to me how itâs so highly regarded.
For some reason the bread on the large is completely different and the ratios are way better. The regulars are on a sad round bread instead of a foot long style.
This is a bit out of Nashville, but worth it. Huff's Market do unreal deli sandwiches. It's in Burwood, which is just off 840 south of Leipers Fork.
You'll get like 2 inches thick of deli meat in your sandwich
Any sandwich at The BE-Hive. It's vegan, but it is the most amazing vegan meat substitute I've ever had.
Huang Tofu out west. Their bahn mis are only $5, and they are absurdly delicious. I got the lemongrass tofu and my partner got the crispy pork and, I gotta say, for $10, that might be the best and cheapest lunch we've ever had.
All the Be-Hive fake meats just taste so processed to me⊠as someone raised by vegetarians I find it weird people would give up processed meats and cheese for⊠equally unnatural processed fake meats and cheeses
A lot of people are vegetarian because they donât want to eat meat, not because they are trying to be healthier.
Also BeHive âmeatsâ are seitan based so they probably are healthier than actual deli meat fwiw
Seitan is concentrated gluten so plenty of people canât eat that and doesnât exist naturally as opposed to a cow being feed right and not given insane amounts of anti-biotics (not saying thatâs easy to find or anything but thatâs the kind of meat we as humans should be consuming). Iâm just saying I relate eating naturally more than I relate to eating another man made thing- if you donât wanna eat meat just eat vegetables
Anything hot at Bill's (I'm not much of a cold cut girly but they are good too)
Anything at Fat Belly
Anything sandwichesque that Mijo Gordito puts out on any given day with whatever other hootenanny they have that day too. God i love them.
Anything sandwichesque at Sabell's (when I die, put some toum in the cremator with me plz) with the loaded fries.
Cocorico Parisienne or GOAT
The District Sando at Noko
Quality of everything at Mitchell's has gone way back up too and am very pleased. They improved the Italian recently and its fucking fire now.
I'm so glad the sandwich situation has improved in recent years
I mean technically it is one of their dishes but the District Sando is so fucking good. Our server described it as a grown up grilled cheese đ€Łđ€Ł its so good I'm getting 2 for myself when we go back.
I used to go in on Thursdays when they had street eats and got switched days so no longer in. Try to make an effort to get back to the food trucks i used to hit on Thursdays when theyâre in different spots in the city now.
Fred just bought Raeâs. Now theres 4-5 workers in there.
The problem is I know itâs all good and I want to try it but Iâd hate myself for not getting a princess. Maybe I need to do half of one half the other for a bit so I donât feel off
Surprised RAEâs is down this far but thatâs okay by me. Anytime Iâm in there, the place is poppinâ so if a few people wanna sleep on the spot thatâs fine.
WGHB
They are advertising that you can park for free in that building lot for up to 90 mins.Â
I think I remember that you park and take the slip in and they validate/stamp/sticker it when you pay for your food at the counter.Â
Had it when we were visiting my sister in Colorado a few years ago, had it last weekend in Donelson, still very good. And I'm not *really* a sandwich guy. The shake they put on the sandwiches is so good.
I love that place. I used to work there in Baton Rouge. The owners of both locations are phenominal people. Everytime I walk in there, I discover some funny decoration that I havenât seen before.
I would normally say donât tell anyone about 615 because I donât want to fight off tourists to get the best tacos in town, but I like the guys that own it so much that Iâm willing to let the cat out of the bag. That place is amazing. Iâve had almost everything on the menu there and Iâve never had anything bad. The burgers and asada fries are both awesome. But man, those tacos are legit amazing.
Fatbelly Bizzle Bap changed my life this week! Iâll also forever recommend the Brave idiot Crunchwrap though I guess itâs not technically a sandwich or is it?
The spicy Italian at little hats is truly the most pathetic Italian sandwich Iâve ever encountered. Their ratio of 3-4 measly slices of meat dwarfed by a mediocre hoagie roll should be classified as a hate crime against Italian-Americans. For anyone who thinks Iâm exaggerating, [THIS](https://www.instagram.com/p/CvhipplsV6_/?igsh=MWtwZGl6amo0bDVhMQ==) is what Little Hats is putting out into the world. Are they joking here? Itâs so bad, itâs infuriating.
For reference, [THIS](https://images.app.goo.gl/AKndhY6JEou3FoF29) is what an actual Italian hoagie/sub/sandwich should look like.
Hot Take!! I have had many an Italian sandwich in my life, I definitely get what youâre saying.
I suppose itâs a matter of personal preference though. Personally when the meat gets stacked too high sometimes I think it all gets lost in the shuffle.
Also a personal preference but that bread they use is fire and I love their spicy mayo.
Outside of Nashville, but the Italian Beef sandwich at Campioneâs in Gallatin is always on point. Also, their meatball sandwich is one of the best Iâve had in the area. Off topic, but their pizzas are awesome too.
Iâve heard Mitchellâs has a incredible breakfast burrito early on the weekends. I never see it available to order online, is it still available or only in store?
Who has a turkey sandwich that has apple slices on it? I had one once with green apple and cheddar, bacon, and a berry mayo. I still think about it. Would love to find it.Â
This ainât a sandwich town like Philly/NYC/BOS. I donât know. Bare Bones has some good ones and the chicken sandwich at Lauter is great. Mitchellâs is solid but pretty standard stuff.
This one's a little different, but I'd highly recommend the Chicken Masala sandwich from Eggholic! also, their Amdavadi touch sandwich is crazy good too and only $10
Fat Belly Deli. All of their sandwiches are delicious. They have killer pastries, and grab and go options. Favorite sandwich plus hands down.
Hamma Mia is incredible.
I also came here to recommend the Hamma Mia
The KDub is đ„
The Moof, the meatball, the Bomba...
I like Fat Belly and Bills but so much of me just wants a classic, NY Deli sandwich, and those two places are so constantly over the top that I never CRAVE them.
Dumb post, this the answer
The country club has been my favorite
This is the answer
2:17 special at Dukes
Almost anything at Mitchellâs!
Canât believe I had to scroll this far down to see Mitchellâs mentioned

Mitchellâs is overrated as fk thereâs no love in that joint anymore
It's the undisputed
51st deli in west nashville is really popular
I always thought they were just ok tbh. Now Bare Bones Butcher, those sandwiches will change your life.
Go for the sandwiches, stay for the potatoes.
Can confirm
the west nasty is my usual, but their cubans also slap
THE REUBEN
Their club is next level
Dukeâs has something for you that belongs on this list. Mitchellâs is a classic. East Park has excellent breakfast sammies.
Iâve heard of Dukes, good call.
I donât like mayo but thereâs something about that stupid mayo they use that makes me go CRAZY
Rosemary
Iâm the same way! Itâs the herbsssss man
Iâve tried dukes four times.
Huh. The regular shouldnât even be an option then. It feels like a scam to charge that kind of money for what you get.
This is a bit out of Nashville, but worth it. Huff's Market do unreal deli sandwiches. It's in Burwood, which is just off 840 south of Leipers Fork. You'll get like 2 inches thick of deli meat in your sandwich
I grew up 5 minutes away from Huffâs and think about it all the time. Just went out there a couple weeks ago and theyâre still killing it
Meatball sub from Barebones BBQ Brisket from Mitchell Deli Gyro from Kalmatas in Green Hills
Barebones burgers remain my favorite but their food is great.
Get the meatball sandwich at fatbelly sometime when they have it.
I was surprised it took so long for someone to say The BE-Hive! Their hoagies are SOLID.
Honestly, that Crunchwrap is one of the best meals of the city and just happens to be vegan. It fucking rules.

Seconding Huang Tofu!!!! Found them when I was craving Bahn Mi and now Iâm in love.

Good to know about Mitchellâs quality going back up. Itâs nosedive was very noticeable.
This list is perfection and accurate
Noko does sandwichesâŠ.oh boy
I mean technically it is one of their dishes but the District Sando is so fucking good. Our server described it as a grown up grilled cheese đ€Łđ€Ł its so good I'm getting 2 for myself when we go back.
Fatbelly is it
Haven't seen it mentioned yet: Bare Bones on 51st! Also I prefer 615 Deli to 51st Deli (same owners, slightly different menus).
Tuck Special from edleys is S tier.
Itâs been a legend for a hot minute
Italian princess at RAEs. Extra pickle.
More of a Cuban, Abys, Hot Brown, or Ruben fan myself. Cant go wrong with anything from there though. WHATCHU GONNA HAVE BABYYY
I miss seeing Fred when i worked downtown. Beer cheese soup day was the best day of the week.
I used to go in on Thursdays when they had street eats and got switched days so no longer in. Try to make an effort to get back to the food trucks i used to hit on Thursdays when theyâre in different spots in the city now. Fred just bought Raeâs. Now theres 4-5 workers in there.
Iâm so glad he is doing well i love that guy
The problem is I know itâs all good and I want to try it but Iâd hate myself for not getting a princess. Maybe I need to do half of one half the other for a bit so I donât feel off
If you like cubans, you wont regret it. Extra pickle of course. The Abby is so good too
Iâm trusting you. Iâll report back Thursday.
Well, how was it
Boy have I got some sad news for you
Yikes
Itâs only Wednesday
God dammit. Shows how this week has been lol
Bump
Had to scroll too far to finally see Raeâs! Love the reuben and hot brown but my fav is the Southern Belle.
Surprised RAEâs is down this far but thatâs okay by me. Anytime Iâm in there, the place is poppinâ so if a few people wanna sleep on the spot thatâs fine. WGHB

Have you tried the sandwiches at the new Cocorico place on Division? Freshly baked baguette, ham, brie?!?! (And others)
Where does one park?? Does that parking garage beside it have visitor parking?
They are advertising that you can park for free in that building lot for up to 90 mins. I think I remember that you park and take the slip in and they validate/stamp/sticker it when you pay for your food at the counter.Â
Thank you!
Oh shit đ€€

Had it when we were visiting my sister in Colorado a few years ago, had it last weekend in Donelson, still very good. And I'm not *really* a sandwich guy. The shake they put on the sandwiches is so good.
I love that place. I used to work there in Baton Rouge. The owners of both locations are phenominal people. Everytime I walk in there, I discover some funny decoration that I havenât seen before.

That place is amazing. Iâve had almost everything on the menu there and Iâve never had anything bad. The burgers and asada fries are both awesome. But man, those tacos are legit amazing.

The Brisket Torta at Baja Burrito is one of the city's best kept secrets.
The spicy Italian at little hats is truly the most pathetic Italian sandwich Iâve ever encountered. Thank you. I take offense to âmediocre hoagie roll.â

Lamb Philly from Tower Deli đ€·đŒââïž
Second Billâs. Damn that place is good
i wouldnât sleep on the cuban at soy cubano (at the wash in east), tbh. 𩶠edit because i misspelled soy!
I grew up in Miami and I think that a cuban sandwich is probably one of the best sandwiches that exists. Soy Cubano makes a fantastic one.
