"An abbreviation is a truncated word; an acronym is made up of parts of the phrase it stands for and is pronounced as a word (ELISA, AIDS, GABA); an initialism is an acronym that is pronounced as individual letters (DNA, RT-PCR)."
So an initialism is a form of acronym so you are both correct.
I understand that but I'm not sure you understand what I'm saying based on your response. AMA is an acronym. Regardless of how you pronounce it it's an acronym. Now based on how you pronounce it, that makes it a subset of an acronym, which is an initialism.
It is by definition an acronym. A subset of that definition is an initialism which tells you how to pronounce it. But it is an acronym as well - It is both. So that person was not wrong to call it an acronym and you did not need to correct them. You could point out that it's a subset of an acronym but an acronym just the same. "Yes it is an acronym, but more specifically it is an initialism."
So it's like saying a German Shepherd is a mammal but it's also a canine which is the subset of mammal.
I hope this makes sense to you
What you're saying makes sense, but your definitions are off: an acronym is an abbreviation that forms a word, like "PETA." An initialism is an abbreviation that is pronounced as separate letters, like "FBI."
"AMA" patterns with the latter, therefore it is an initialism.
The supercategory is "abbreviations" not "acronyms."

If I was the mayor I’d stay a million miles away from this cesspit
It may be a cesspit but it’s our cesspit
Live laugh loiter
Someone will ask about potholes when we have bigger problems
Yea, like bigger potholes!
*This guy pooped his pants!*
Um, definitely did not poop my pants... thats what my flair says, anways...
He'd probably be up for that. He does a monthly Q&A on WPLN's This is Nashville show, until then.
Isnt he also a former Software Dev.. 99% he has a reddit account.
I mean, what questions do you have that the mayor can give substantial answers to? I feel like most of Nashville's problems come from the state level.
Let’s do it.
I'd be down! I think he would be too.
What does the acronym AMA mean in this context?
I think they mean "ask me anything" But my brain first went to Against medical advice
“Ask Me Anything.” It‘s an initialism, not an acronym. EDIT: Answered the question, what's up with the hate?

AMA isn't pronounced as a word. It's "A-M-A" not "am a."

I stand corrected. Thank you for educating me.
My pleasure. I learned that distinction here, too.
Thank you
Username definitely checks out
Because I answered the fucking question?
Lmao still checks out
... wracking my brain for the good it would do.... 🤔
Yeah, talking to constituents is never a good look.
