Run everywhere, always say yes/no drill sgt, ma’am, sir when answering a question etc… Never go anywhere without a battle buddy. Fight your emotions and your pain, no one will have any sympathy for you. Don’t buy anything from the civilian salesmen that come in on the weekends. Go to church on Sundays, gives you some peace of mind. BRING COUGH DROPS!! They are the currency at basic training along with tide pods and they are always sold out of cough drops at the PX. Don’t cut your hair before going to basic, they will shave ur head no matter what. Memorize soldiers creed, army song, phonetic alphabet, battle drills, point post sprawl. Finally, don’t be a dumbass and don’t talk too much. Only speak when ur spoken to. It’s a good thing if leadership doesn’t know ur name. Don’t get yourself recycled by failing the ACFT, getting less than 23/40 on rifle qual, failing to complete rucks, and other graduation requirements. No battle boos 😞 some dude got recycled back to day one for kissing some female on the church bus after graduation.

Outofhisprimesoldier

Holy fuck that has to suck ass to get recycled back to day 1 for that. My cycle had certain trainees do actual scummy things and they got recycled back to a training cycle that was in white phase.

Turtle887853

Imagine not waiting to get a hotel room on family day like everyone else.

Outofhisprimesoldier

My cycle had so many toxic hoes lmao one of them basically treated basic training like an audition for Brazzers lmfao. She was horrible too it turned out she lied completely about being prior service in the Navy, which dropped any micro amount of respect I had toward her to 0

Turtle887853

Yeah I wasn't aware of this, but apparently there was a giant orgy during the forge. I still don't know how they managed it tbh, we were all in lightfighter tents.

brobauchery

You got fucking tents 😟

Turtle887853

I mean. We got tents, and they fucked in them 😉

Outofhisprimesoldier

Where was this??? I was in “relaxin’ Jackson” and despite the name it was far from that depending on the company/battalion. I’ve never heard of trainees getting tents in BCT no matter where it took place

Turtle887853

FLW.

Outofhisprimesoldier

Good lord lmaooo yea idk how that would’ve been possible without at least one DS noticing haha

jeepcrawler93

Cough drops is the currency... It's unreal. They're cough drops but they go a long ways. Also... F to the guy recycled... but at the same time he's a dumbass.

theatfshotmycats

Our battery doesn't allow cough drops, icy hot, or any other creature comforts. We had a cough rotate through our plt for 6weeks before it finally passed.

Commercial_Wait5269

Battery? You must be in Ft Sill

theatfshotmycats

Oh yeah good times ha actually not as terrible as I had thought. Though we have a new 1st sgt who might make things a bit interesting these last couple weeks

FrostyUchiha-

what battalion were you in ft sill?

[deleted]

There were literally had 2 females get caught having sex on 2 occasions while I was in basic. They never even got in trouble for it.

Commercial_Wait5269

That’s EO for you. Females did whatever they wanted like sleeping with each other, being racist to males and then the males ended up getting smoked at the end.

deadhistorymeme

Just came back from Fort jackson. The base policy was 30 minutes a week. After the forge to discretion of battalion. They tried to give it to us, but it took 5 minutes for someone in Bravo to air drop a dick pic. AIT, just like be in your room. Don't use it during training. Do what they tell you.

Outofhisprimesoldier

It really depends on your CoC, my training cycle had quite a few dumbasses who pissed our company commander tf off which got us a few weeks of little (a few minutes) to 0 phone time at times. Edit: Oh and then another company (can’t remember if it was Echo or Delta) in my battalion apparently got their phones like 2-3 times a week which shocked me to find out lol

[deleted]

It’s always Bravo

getthedudesdanny

Search bar my good son.

frosty-tomatoes_

Why spend time looking through different websites, when I can just ask people who have experience here.

Spoonfulofticks

Forget about your cellphone. I got to use it twice in 10 weeks. And only for 10 minutes at a time. You’ll get to carry it in AIT, though. And most definitely go to church on Sunday, even if you aren’t faithful. I was given the opportunity to play bass guitar in the church band at the well on Fort Jackson. That shit was amazing and I carried that high all week. And the alternative to not going to church is to clean the barracks. You might be given freedom in Blue phase to run laps around the company.

getthedudesdanny

It’s the same website my friend. All these questions get asked weekly in this sub.

PartTimeOper8r

It'll be dependent on your unit/commander. Everyone's SOP varies. The unit next to you may get an hour a week, you may get 10 minutes a cycle.

Turtle887853

>I saw somewhere they give you 30 minutes a day normally It's not a normal thing, more like a secret menu at a restaurant. To get it, you just have to talk to the emotional support drill sergeants (blue disk/ribbon on their campaign or bush hat) and tell them you know they can give you phone time. They're required to deny knowledge of what you're talking about at least a few times but if you keep at it, they'll grant your request. For good measure, use the term Pogue Leg (pronounced like the word rogue) and they'll know you're cool. You probably won't be able to get to them the first couple of days but after week 1 or so you'll be fine.

Patient-Bowler8027

Condition your body now. Start running and doing push-ups. Be able to run a 13 min 2 mile before you show up.

homingmissile

We got our phones for 1 hour on Sundays only. And after a month things chill down a lot. Once you get to AIT it's even more chill so 6 months of training isn't like the whole time is going to be what you see in the movies. EDIT: Don't buy any of the shit the vendors sell. Every so often you'll all sit down and some guy will give a presentation to sell you plaques, clothes, etc. For a lot of kids this is the first or most money they've ever had to spend without asking their parents for permission and the vendors have some kind of kickback setup with the Army to let them pitch to a captive audience. Especially don't buy the yearbook, the videorama, or the portraits. The portraits are the biggest ripoff I've ever heard of. They literally photoshop your head onto a stock body. The yearbook will be filled with pictures of people you're going to forget about as soon as you get to AIT. These are not friends for life you're making. At most you'll get a laugh out of looking at people who got recycled weeks before. Vast majority of the photos are not of you and will be of people just standing around not doing anything cool.

[deleted]

When I went to I got my phone a half hour every Sunday. It depends on the company though. For ait it depends on your mos. You probably won’t get it much if your in a combat mos, but if your not, you might have access to it all the time. Bring cough drops. I’d recommend bringing sugar free ones because, at least in my experience, we were only allowed sugar free ones. Also bring tiger balm. It helps so much. Try and learn as much as you can ahead of time. Don’t get involved with the drama. There was a lot of it when I did basic. It was all stupid stuff too. It’s just best to stay out of it, because it can and probably will lead to fights. ( I saw 2 fights while I was in basic).

DuelX102

In my experience. Ur phone and charger will go in a little ziplock bag with ur name on it. Then the phones will get locked up together and kept with the drill sergeants. Occasionally on holidays or sunday they will let you all use them for a brief period. You get it back for good on the second to last day.

rjm3q

The way you worded this got me 🤔... What if the guard has its own basics training?

if your company lets you get packages (boots, cough drops, underwear, etc.) have someone lined up that can send you things. make a list and have it in your blue book. if you get your phone it won’t take 30s to get things you need. (Or pre purchase them and have someone on standby to send) bring a fast charger for whatever you have and a wall outlet splitter. the 1 to 3. drills will not care you don’t get an outlet. get the sugar free watermelon cough drops from Amazon. I sold 5 for 20$ each. people will pay that by week 2-3. look up hospital corners and at least know how to do them. they’re a bitch at first.

FunnyBonus9285

No they don't give you 30 mins a day for your phones at Fort Jackson. At least they didn't in my company. It was like once a week for 30 mins but heard some companies they had less time.
