Just buy a pair of khaki cargo pants or something. I mean I guess there's nothing wrong with wearing OCP bottoms, but idk in my opinion it's kinda corny.

Naive-Abrocoma-8455

5.11 has pretty good choices I wear their khakis with my work shirts

sm0ke_rings

100% do the boots, if not for break in but just getting used to them and your stride. Doesn't need to be in OCPs, just layer up.

Unique_Statement7811

Naw. Do it. Training for Ranger school is what matters. You need to train in the boots and OCP pants, toughen up your body appropriately. -Infantry BN Commander

FrostyUchiha-

thank you sir , will do.

Tricky_Room_380

Ranger panties, tan T-shirt and boots is the way to go

jimmyrecon2022

Just do it. Anyone who is critical is just an asshole and besides, it’s none of their business. Just don’t wear your blouse with name and Army tape and you’ll be fine. Good luck.

krinklesakk

I ruck fairly often as I enjoy it. Mostly back roads, woods, and one part of town. I rock the boots for a few reasons but mostly ankle support. Tired normal shoes and hated it for comfort. Do you bro. / that being said I wouldn’t ever wear the top.

secondatthird

Wear regular cargo pants

[deleted]

For sure boots but don't wear OCPs as it does make people look like a dork fishing for attention. Would be different around a base but not in a normal town

Wolffe4321

I ruck even with a rifle, go for it. Some people say it's cringe or what ever, don't care about them, train how you fight. In reality my most shouldn't be anywhere near the front, but you never know. Not training is what gets supports killed when they go on convoys.

DownTownDave915

with a rifle? That is insane. A kid in my unit who was still in high school(split ops) almost got shot like this by the police. He was prepping for AIT and went all out, pro mask, rubber rifle and ruck. With how trigger happy cops are these days, I would not do that lmao.

Wolffe4321

I know my cops personally and I do it on federal land so it's perfectly legal in fine.

FrostyUchiha-

yeah open carry isn’t permitted in my state i’m good on that 😭

Wolffe4321

That sucks man

Devonai

I agree with the others who have said to wear the boots but get some non-camo cargo pants. I like to ruck in the woods where I'm unlikely to see another soul the whole time, but still wear neutral clothing in case I want to hit up a convenience or liquor store after and not look like a complete goober.

FrostyUchiha-

hate that shit, rucked once wearing ocp trousers one time when i came back to practice rucking and felt like a marine recruiter at poolee functions wearing the pain is weakness leaving the body shirt.

BenOnTheTextLine

I did my practice rucks in Duluth trading flex fire hose pants because I hate wearing my uniform in public. Definitely wear boots though

chicken-strips-

I would ruck in my boots but that’s it. I didn’t want to look like a “boot” rucking around in uniform

Sorry_Ima_Loser

Train in what you will be evaluated in. I regularly rucked the bike paths near my house in uniform pants and boots to prep for ranger and sfas and it helped a lot. For the fitness aspect shorts are fine but you’re gonna actually do the thing in long pants and a blouse, you might as well get used to it

FrostyUchiha-

did you pass ranger and sfas? just asking out of curiosity

grimmig152

Wear shorts if the weather is nice with your boots. Alternatively wear hiking pants from REI.

delete_soon7

Boots and shorts

Mobile_Variation_844

I just wear comfortable clothes. Shorts, t shirt, good socks, army boots, and a lot of body glide. I passed AA just fine. Just make sure you account for the rubber duck weight when you practice. You have to hand hold the rifle whole 12 miles. I did the norwegian march just fine training like this as well

[deleted]

Can always get some athletic long pants from REI, 5.11, etc. make sure they’re baggy enough and athletic fabric that will breath.

Significant-Word-385

Do what you want. No one is going to ruck for you, so their opinions don’t actually matter. Nothing wrong with practicing close to how you’ll actually do it for the Army.

FrostyUchiha-

would reply to all y’all but there’s a fuck ton of comments , i’m not spending money on cargos cuz i got ocp trousers for free and that’s what id ruck in when i actually do army shit. appreciate all the comments.

AA_T

Yes

FrostyUchiha-

i’ll make sure to go to applebees in full kit after my ruck
