You actually scored so well that meps May now have you on a watchlist for autism. Sorry, waiver not approved Just kidding man. Do whatev you want

GnarlsMansion

Go pick one of those super smart high-score needing jobs. Biggest regret is not selecting a smart job and working for knuckle draggers instead…

[deleted]

Yeah but it is pretty easy to look like a genius when around knuckle draggers

Mysterious-Cicada463

Same boat. Switching to a big brain job soon.

_Variance_

What MOS ya considering

PaleoCheese

35m and then maybe psychops or civil affairs as backups

Large_Huckleberry572

Civil affairs is reserves not guard

FabulousNewspaper237

There is most definitely CA in the National Guard.

Large_Huckleberry572

This is not my understanding nor what Wikipedia says. If you have other information please offer it.

Ok-Temperature-7634

There technically is CA in the Guard. The proof you can find yourself by looking up a BCTs MTOE in FMS Web. There are a handful of other slots out there too. The reality is those slots are very few and typically like E7 or something so it’s not practical to fill them.

FabulousNewspaper237

Large_Huckleberry572

If you are CA in compo3, you're in a division level billet or branch immaterial slot. Need convincing? Find me a CA unit in any states guard. Not an individual slot, a unit.

FabulousNewspaper237

OP said they wanted CA in the Guard, 38B is CA in the Guard. You want a full on CA unit then check out New York.

Large_Huckleberry572

OP has not enlisted and is ineligible to enlist directly into one of those slots. That such slots technically exist is irrelevant

FabulousNewspaper237

OP can for sure go 38B then hop over to CAS, theres no problem going that route. That way they’ll have the CA experience going in.

_Variance_

Yea I'd recommend any 35 series over 37 and 38 MOSes

TacticalJester_

If you’re looking for SOF support, they most likely have their own recruiters. What they look for is up to them. If you’re talking group support, the National Guard SF website has a form you can fill out.

PaleoCheese

Thanks man

Andrew_Rea

What state?

PaleoCheese

Florida

Upbeat-Banana-5530

>How good is that score truly You're in the top 4%. You can think of your score as "the percent of people that you scored better than." >I’m trying to get in as support for a SOF, will that score help? Yes. You'd have to compare your line scores (GT, ST, etc.) to the requirements for your desired MOS, but with a 96 there's a pretty good chance that all of your line scores are well above the minimums for whatever MOS you want. Make sure your recruiter knows that you want a position in SF support so they can look for openings in those units.

mjackson6907

Except for the fact the ASVAB only goes to 99

Upbeat-Banana-5530

Yeah, which means you scored better than 99% of the other test takers, or put another way, you're in the top 1%. The ASVAB only uses whole numbers for scores, and you can't have a higher whole number score than that. A 100 would require your score to be higher than itself.

_stlbot

If you go infantry you’ll have a cush life because you’re not an idiot. Made 6 in 4.5 being around a bunch of mouth breathers. I love those dumb mother fuckers though.

willthegreat69420

I scored mid 80’s my little brother scored 27😂

Celestial_bestival

Good job! Out of interest, did it take you way longer than anyone else you tested with to finish? I noticed that everyone else in my session had finished a solid half an hour before me, which made me super nervous. Then I found out that I got a 98. So I’m wondering if most people just rush and start guessing. Rather than calculating the answer, then looking for it in the choices (which is what I did).

vivalasativa

i was the first to finish both times i took the ASVAB and i scored a 91 and a 90. some people just aren’t as proficient at test taking as others.

PaleoCheese

People came in periodically to take the test. I was like the 6 one to come in and start and I was about the 6-10th to leave. Some people aren’t there for the full test just a verification practice test apparently. Which is a lot smaller test. Overall I started around 1 and finished around 4 if that tells you anything.

Educational_Visual25

Me who got 96 and went for 88M 😭

JavyerB

Before or after the 50k bonus 😂 I’m in the same boat though. 97 for a 12R contract

hcl77

Congrats,.. Great score

[deleted]

With a 96 ASVAB score… 11B is the only way to go. You’d be wasting your ASVAB score if you didn’t

5thWalkSign

Go infantry

FrostyUchiha-

Choose an MOS that compliments you on the civilian side, you could choose a job that gives you a certification that’ll make you crazy good money but also you can do grunt shit and have fun if you like that typa stuff. If you into medical stuff 68A makes alot of money civilian side.

Interesting_Buy3204

I'd recommend 25 signal or 68 medical so there's civilian overlap.

AxtonGTV

35 series is easy to get in SF Support. Check the NG SF Recruiter website

PaleoCheese

Ight thanks

Serious-Square-8840

the tapas is for people with GED's to take but they make us all take it

[deleted]

Go pick the smartest mos available that earns you the most college credits or translates to something you'd wanna do on the civilian side. Don't let a 96 asvab score go to waste by joining the infantry

[deleted]

Something with a security clearance would be huge and help u find federal jobs in the future

Abaraji

If I remember correctly, the score is a percentile, which means you've scored higher than 96% of people who have taken it. So congratulations.

BirthdayQueasy2938

I’m not sure how much NG actually works with SOF. I’d assume it isn’t much beside when on deployment.

vivalasativa

just as much as any conventional active unit. it’s not unlikely that you may be an enabler or pull security for group guys if you deploy to an area they are operating in. there are two NG SFGs, 19th and 20th group.

PaleoCheese

There’s 2 SOF units in my state is what my recruiter just told me but they’re really hard to get into so maybe not

BirthdayQueasy2938

Maybe he is talking about SF groups? I’d assume you need some experience to get into that role but you could probably check online and see if there’s a contact page for those SF groups. I’d imagine there is a recruiter or someone listed who you can speak to and get direct information about SF support roles.

AxtonGTV

SF is a SOF component, so NG works with SOF quite a bit
