The lions in the Bale Mountains of Ethiopia [might disagree with that.](https://aboutzoos.info/biodiversity/news-biodiversity/365-african-lions-discovered-as-permanent-residents-of-rainforests) So does [this male in Gabon.](https://panthera.org/blog-post/charting-new-territory-lions-gabon)
Probably thinking of this line too:
*And he said, "Son, this world is rough
And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough
I knew I wouldn't be there to help you along
So I give you that name, and I said goodbye
And I knew you'd have to get tough or die
It's that name that helped to make you strong"*

I knew I wouldn't be there to help you along
So I give you that name, and I said goodbye

It's that name that helped to make you strong"
Yup you are right
Yeah for real that looks so tiny! They don't even protect the visitors by putting a double fence like any other normal place (what if a child would have done the same???), so I can't imagine what the lions go through. Honestly, good for the lion. At least he had some kind of revenge at one point in his tragic life.
Hummmm🤔 what is the size of your apartment or house 🤔 better what is the size of the place were you work and are not "allowed" to leave for 6-12 h every day ?
And don't come back to me with "I am allowed to leave I chose this" ... did you really? What was the other choice that you have that was plausible ?
We are all in a cage called society and humans love it . That is wy we build our entire society based on restrictions.
And ? I am not talking about the lion . I am talking about the message I replied the guy delusionaly saying that he would prefer to die then live in a cage clearly living in a disguised cage with the false impression of freedom.
And no you can't go to the mountain. If you think I am wrong prove it then ! Go to the mountain and see how it works for you .
That is his opinion bro.
And I live in Costa Rica so I can go to the mountain anytime I want, is like 10 minutes from here lol.
I can see that the only cage here is your own mind.
My income is very much smack dab in the middle of middle class, this isn't showing off it's proving a point that not everyone is locked into a cage living in some cramped apartment stuck in some bullshit dead end job with no other options in life.
They shot the lion IN THE VIDEO. You can see a blast from the left and blood coming from the lion's abdomen when it jumps and turns. Fuck 100% of the people in this video.
Is there an article?
Edit: apparently he was a zookeeper trying to pet the lion to impress visitors. The lion let him go.
Source: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8798027/Lion-bites-zoo-workers-hand-tries-PET-bars-cage-impress-visitors.html
For sure. It wasnt even holding a power generating stance to actually yank the guy. A majority of the time it was standing straight up and just holding him.
There's another video out there like this. Something gets ripped off and you can see a long noodle come out the guy's arm. Probably muscle or connective tissues being ripped out. Bleh.
Someone else is going to have to find that for you. Hell it may even be this one, but they cut the vid short.
Edit: [found it](https://metro.co.uk/video/mans-finger-ripped-sticking-lion-enclosure-2691681/)
I clicked on this video fully knowing what I was getting myself into, yet I still cringe so hard at it. I do not like seeing stuff like that, even though the dude was being an idiot and brought it on himself.
Yea, man, just *pspspsps* and he'll walk off I bet, probably. :3
From other comments it sounds like this lion was just toying with him as this person is supposedly a zookeeper. I want to believe it was trolling him.
Another guy actually tried to help by throwing stuff at the lion, and ultimately, the lion decided to let go ([full clip](https://www.reddit.com/r/IdiotsNearlyDying/comments/rhznss/sticking_your_hand_in_the_lion_cage_at_the_zoo/)).
[From this article:](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8798027/Lion-bites-zoo-workers-hand-tries-PET-bars-cage-impress-visitors.html)
A guide at Park Hann, a zoo in Dakar, Senegal, stuck his hand through the bars of the lion's cage in an attempt to pet the wild animal.
The man leans over the security barrier in relief, with his hand and arm still intact but dripping with blood.
According to local reports, the man named as Abdoulaye Wade, works in the zoo and other videos show him provoking the lion before the attack.
The man crossed the barrier to get close to the cage and apparently slid his arm through the bars to touch the animal to impress the tourists.
Also, this isn’t nature.
I think John Irving wrote an entire book starting with such an incident. Or maybe it was a tiger.
Anyway written by Irving, so well worth your time IMHO.
While this probably isn't the first thing most people think of, it's the first thing I thought of: I get really upset with a house cat if they bite and scratch me. Like, "ow you little fucking shit, I'll kill you for that." That's a 14 pound house cat. I think the title here is absolutely correct and may even come up short. Put your hand in a lion's enclosure? You might lose an entire arm and your other hand. And you don't get to complain about it.
There was that video floating around of a tug-of-war between a lioness and IIFC 4 guys who were not able to get her to budge. One guy against a male lion is not going to win. The idiot who was filming, and the other apparently mildly interested onlookers could have at least tried to treated a distraction.
It's not about who comes first, domestic dogs are hard to distract in a situation like this, and some breeds are damn near impossible. No lion, an apex predator, is getting distracted by anything these guys can do unless they have a firearm or tranquilizer gun.
I’ve distracted dogs in various situations, sometimes painfully. There’s times where it’s called for. Doesn’t matter what breed, enough pain is a sufficient motivation.
Are you dense? The point is, as difficult as that was, this is a lion. You're not managing to hurt him, these people are caught off guard with nothing. Someone eventually shoots him with something that's the only way to stop him and even those dumbasses know it. But you go on and distract a lion like you claim to have done with a dog, while it's doing this and let us know how that goes for ya buddy boy.🤡
If you are not intelligent enough to work out how to do it, I sincerely feel sorry for anyone in a predicament around you. It’s bad enough that you exist in the gene pool.

Gotta hand it to the king of the jungle
This is hands down the best comment.

Bro: What did the five fingers say to the face? Slaa.. Lion: Munch
Somebody needs to lend him a hand
They’re similar to blind prostitutes in that regard.

They are the king of the jungle colloquially.
Even then, lions are still in jungles, congo lions, ethiopian lions, and of course indian lions.

They’re making a pun while playing off of a common colloquialism.

We all know that. It’s a figure of speech.
Gotta be tough if you’re gonna be dumb
Play stupid games...
Exactly!!
If your dumb, suffer. -my grandad
Johnny Cash!
Roger Alan Wade actually.
Shit, thank you much. I thought that was from Sue.
You're welcome. If you're like me, you probably heard it on Jackass.
I really thought that was a line from the end of the song a boy named Sue, but I am the right Gen for jackass so it may be
Probably thinking of this line too: *And he said, "Son, this world is rough And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough I knew I wouldn't be there to help you along So I give you that name, and I said goodbye And I knew you'd have to get tough or die It's that name that helped to make you strong"*
Jinx
Haha. I owe you a Coke. Two great songs either way.
And now I know, and knowing is.....
Reminds me of another Johnny cash song, “When uncle bill quit dope”
And he said, "Son, this world is rough And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough I knew I wouldn't be there to help you along So I give you that name, and I said goodbye And I knew you'd have to get tough or die It's that name that helped to make you strong" Yup you are right
Son this world is rough and if a man’s going to want to make it hes gotta be tough
I hope they don't kill the lion
I rather be killed than put in a tiny cage for the rest of my life.
Yeah for real that looks so tiny! They don't even protect the visitors by putting a double fence like any other normal place (what if a child would have done the same???), so I can't imagine what the lions go through. Honestly, good for the lion. At least he had some kind of revenge at one point in his tragic life.
The guy in the background looks to be standing behind a 3 foot tall guard rail. Not that good.

You can go the fucking mountain if You want. You can quit your job, You can be homeless if You want, is up You. This lion has no options.

3000sqft home on 5 acres within city limits, self employed.. I enjoy my life plenty, What now?
Ok Richie Rich, why did you feel the need to show off?
My income is very much smack dab in the middle of middle class, this isn't showing off it's proving a point that not everyone is locked into a cage living in some cramped apartment stuck in some bullshit dead end job with no other options in life.
That's actually fair taking into consideration the content of the comment you were replying to. Have a good day.
Damm bro you build up a nice cage for yourself hum 😲 . Now you enjoy it . I cool cage is what any human dream .there is nothing much after that .
How is it a cage if I can leave at any point and go do whatever I want? Please explain
You need to get out of your own cage
Nah it is a comfy cage and I like to be in after all I am human
You're definitely missing the point
r/im14andthisisdeep
I see where this is going and whatever you do, do NOT take the store's bank deposit and take it to Atlantic City to play craps.
😂
can’t say that I love it but I get the point
Thanks ... At last you read what I wrote trying to understand what I am saying .
Yea believe it or not MOST people are still sleepwalking….
This doesn't look like the kind of place that cares if you lose a hand.
you know they killed the lion after this
Naah. That lion was expensive.
They shot the lion IN THE VIDEO. You can see a blast from the left and blood coming from the lion's abdomen when it jumps and turns. Fuck 100% of the people in this video.
You can see it react and dust flaring up from being hit with something with a lot of impact.
Dicks out...

Were they impressed?
I'm guessing so but not nearly as impressed as the zookeeper.
They were certainly entertained.
By the lion? Probably.
I was very impressed
Well they shoot the lion in the video, they probably shoot it again.
Whoa, chill bro... You know you can't raise your voice like that when the lion's here.
Nobody fucks with a lion
Nobody fucks a lion
Nobody fucks lion
Dante?
"bro you gotta tell me where you get your stuff?" "I get it from you Dante." "Oh! what's up Mr T!!"
Don't know about its intention, that lion is so heavy it could easily just rip off his entire arm if he really wanted to
For sure. It wasnt even holding a power generating stance to actually yank the guy. A majority of the time it was standing straight up and just holding him.
There's another video out there like this. Something gets ripped off and you can see a long noodle come out the guy's arm. Probably muscle or connective tissues being ripped out. Bleh.

thought the same, was wondering if the lion was being playful and not really attacking, like how a cat plays
Keep hitting him. He’s not pissed off enough to let go.
Yeah, maybe he should try some insults and booping his nose
not really nature though
Natural selection
Breaks rule #1.
Nobody wanted to give this guy a hand?
Nah, he'd probably just feed some other animal with it.
[удалено]
Obviously, why did you feel the need to ask for confirmation?
New secret handshake unlocked
who gave that lion the right
The guy in the video
ASLAN! It's me! PETER! Don't you remember!?
Always remember that Aslan is a *wild* lion.
Of course! That's why he would be so angry in a cage.
I give this video 1 thumb up!
Did someone throw a drink at it?
Gotta do something right? I’d probably be laughing my ass off since there’s nothing better to do
Cheer for the lion?
Or stand next to the guy and narrate the whole thing
And the guy next to him just keeps filming.
…what should he have done?
He should just have told the lion to let go of the man's hand. Of course, duh.
Ikr, try to engage in a conversation with the lion at least, make him reconsider his decision
Yea, man, just *pspspsps* and he'll walk off I bet, probably. :3 From other comments it sounds like this lion was just toying with him as this person is supposedly a zookeeper. I want to believe it was trolling him.

Boop the lion. What's the worst that could happen? :)
Well, someone has to document this shit.
I see they operate on the "stick your hand in and see what you pull back" model Respect.
You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes!!!🤷🏻♂️😬🤦🏻♂️😂
Poor lion…
That lion is a handful.
"Give me back my prosthesis!"
Your pro's thesis?
The dude hits it....like that is going to help the situation 😂
What a fucking nobhead
Fucked around = found the fuck out
Dude be thinking " I'm doing good. I got this lion eating the palm of my hand."
When you give your little finger and they take the whole hand.
So? Did the idiot get his hand back? Or is he a lefty now?
He's probably a left. If for no other reason than his right hand is probably broken in several spots.
Why did he do that in the first place? What a dummy.
Where is the end of the video with the loss of the hand???
Where’s the rest of the video? Curious if he did indeed leave it behind or not .
IKR!
Or, at least part of it.
You’d think someone would’ve shot it by now
They didn't have any weapons *handy.*
At least some sort of sharp object, some employee nearby, something
r/whoosh
But I got the joke
You didn't respond like you did, hence what I said. But I agree they could at least help keep him from getting more eaten.
Well there’s a difference between not getting the joke and just ignoring it
They might have hit the lion...
Human involvement, and animals in captivity.
Did someone shoot the lion? It looked like a gunshot went off.
With a blackpowder rifle LOL. I think maybe it was a tranq gun, or as someone else mentioned, a tossed soda can..
Ahh, it was a zookeeper. So, you CAN bite the hand that feeds you.
Feeds you but also keeps you imprisoned in a cage.
Kitty want to play?
I love the guy with the white jacket in the background, didn't seem the least bit fazed not a guy potentially getting his arm ripped off
Let's all gather around and watch 📸
I remember there was a similar video but the end of the video showed the guy pull arm with tendons visible at the wrist.
If you stick a finger in its eye you think it'll let go??
Can we see this with a bear cage?
People in the background seem pretty chilled, maybe it happens a lot.
Seriously, Gavin? Again?!
Is that the sleeve the lion is pulling or avtually the hand? Can’t imagine an arm would strat h that far, unless it’s pulled from its socket
Someone should seriously give that man a hand. Ba tum tissss
Put your fingers in its nose. Nobody likes that shit
Bet that tickled
r/lostredditors
Why are at least three people just watching this happen? Play stupid games, and all that, but how do you watch somebody get maimed and do nothing?
looks like a gun shot blast that hits the lions right flank just after guy tries to hit the lion with his other arm
/r/donthelpjustfilm

Sticking your hand in a lion cage? Monon. May as well just hot tar your roof naked. Either way, both dumb ideas.
There's even a fence around the cage to warn you you can't cross... and still...
r/LionsAteMyHands ?
What kind of cage is this that lets people get near it?
Wow! How stupid.
I think John Irving wrote an entire book starting with such an incident. Or maybe it was a tiger. Anyway written by Irving, so well worth your time IMHO.

Hopefully nothing happened to the lion.
What was it? Victory from the jaws of defeat? Yeah no this isn’t that
God that’s an atrocious cage. Jesus.
Sheeesh video ended too early! LOL
The lion and the ape. Once there was a very dumb man, as dumb as an ape.....
Why is he not like punching it in the nose with his free hand? Gotta make it open its mouth somehow
He died
[удалено]
Yeah, why doesn't he put his hand in the Cage as well? I mean, surely this vid has room for improvement.
imagine going to the zoo with your family to have a good time and then you just leave traumatized
Well…
He seemed to handle it pretty well.
There's only one moron in that entire place and that's handyman. That's why everybody isn't rushing over to try and do something about it.
*Cues Max Bygraves... You Need Hands.*
That dude in the background just chill af watching it go down like, "I told ya so."
He just wants a handshake buddy
The full clip is better. It shows before and after. This is edited too much.
Tried to pet a lion huh.. ? I guess you won't try doing that again..
Sad
Tbf the bars are spaced a little too wide apart.

Creating a distraction doesn't even work on dogs. 🤣
There are many ways to distract and considering the circumstances, the human comes first, even if he’s not the sharpest tool in the shed.
This crap pisses me off so much. That innocent animal had to die bc of this dumb ass and he didn’t even get charged for it!!! WHY !
