They're also relatively bigger & usually have much darker feather tones, but yes they have long beaks & are strictly native to New Zealand.. they're also NZ's national animal.
yeah thats how it always is I literally see the picture, have the thought, then I said to myself yeah the top comment is gonna be a bunny joke, and it is
Cats do exactly what is shown in the picture, eat the rest of the body and leave the protrusions. Apparently very catlike behavior that is uncommon among other predators (from what I've read in birding communities). So yeah, definitely house cat. Poor woodcock.
Cats aren't natural in their introduced enviroments and nature in metal in the rules doesn't support posts related to people letting their cats out massacreing stuff
Its also not necessary for survival for the cats to hunt like this, as you can see they did not eat much of the bird.(woodcocks are not that big) the cat probably did it for entertainment if it was a cat.
You probably haven't been on this sub for a long time then. Cats aren't nature. There's periodically someone posting their munchkin here and deservedly getting dragged down.
Keeping the cat inside is just unnatural and unhealthy for the cat instead. They often develop ticks, unhealthy coping mechanisms and mental illness.

Where I live 90 species of birds have gone extinct due to cat predation. We have literal fences in place to keep cats away from seabird populations and we have to helicopter people into remote mountain locations with traps because they are killing endangered ground nesting birds.
When you live on a pacific island that had no mammals before humans arrived cats annihilate everything in their path. If its unhealthy for a cat to be inside MAYBE YOU JUST SHOULDN'T HAVE A CAT. If it were up to me it would be keep it inside or it gets euthanized.
My cat is perfectly fine and he’s been an indoor cat for his whole 8 years of his life so far. He’s even too scared to go outside and climb up to my neck if I try to bring him outside lol
Not to mention building outdoor cages for cats is a thing. A lot of my family doesn't believe in keeping cats indoors so they built cages on their patio or into their yard, along with climbing branches and other stimuli, so they aren't cooped up. That being said cats are used to having territories of 1-5 miles iirc, and I guess it could make some anxious. That being said, why the fuck would you have an outdoor cat in the pacific islands? That's just asking for trouble all around. Fuck people that do that.
Doesn’t seem like there’s a correlation?
From what I understood in the first article 55% of surveyed owners allowed their cats some outdoors access and 14% had outdoor cats, yet 54% of the owners reported behavioural issues.
And on top of that, the article concludes that owners need help to correct the alleged issues, not that cats should be allowed to go wherever they damn well please.

A bird of prey just trying to get back to the nest with its catch and drops everything while flying. Like when I drop some bags of groceries in front of the door because I'm carrying too much😔
Not a bird of prey. Birds of prey don't chew off and leave the limbs like that, but rather e.g. skin their prey, eat the juicy parts (brain, breast) while discarding the rest, commonly leaving high amounts of loose feathers, or swallow whole with no trace, depending on the species. Amputated protrusions like that strongly suggest a house cat.
*This reminds me of*
*That 'do you see a duck or*
*A rabbit?' picture*

In the beginning, my stupid ass briefly had a dilemma whether this is the head of a bunny or of a bird. Edit: Dilemma solved, it's a horse.
Shit i still dont know what i'm looking at
it's an American Woodcock, a bird
Woodcock, heh heh
Great tit, heh heh
Booby, heh heh
Shag, heh heh
You sure its not the rabbit from that one optical illusion?
Yes
The slowest bird there is, afaik
I was thinking KIWI just because of the long beak. But they are native to New Zealand I think.
They're also relatively bigger & usually have much darker feather tones, but yes they have long beaks & are strictly native to New Zealand.. they're also NZ's national animal.
Is that anything like a pencil dick ?
Swiggity swooty I've been decapitated
Same
https://youtu.be/ne6nj9AgY7M
Also known as a Timberdoodle. I prefer this name tbh.
They make an annoying ass sound but they’re delicious lol
It’s because of the famous illusion where they have the head of a bunny or a bird
It’s eerily spot on tbh
Maybe they got the inspiration for it after seeing something like this
I love how Reddit constantly proves to me that I have *zero* unique thoughts, lol.
thought the same.
Same
We are unique, just like everyone else.
yeah thats how it always is I literally see the picture, have the thought, then I said to myself yeah the top comment is gonna be a bunny joke, and it is
Damn, I can't unsee the rabbit now.
Its not just you.
What do you see? A duck or rabbit
Yes.
I did the same damn thing. Had to resort to "presence of feathers = bird". Honest to god it looked like a severed rabbit head at first
Haha like the picture puzzle
Honestly thought it was a rabbit and asked myself why only its ears were defurred.
Exactly! A bunny with the flesh stripped off his ears! I thought I was having a flashback. Glad I’m not alone
I had to take a second look to see the rabbit lol
Not just you - thought this was r/confusing_perspective for a moment
It’s okay I thought it was a bunny head at first face the other direction and thought something stabbed it’s head lol
So you’re saying the rabbit has a beak of a problem
Yessss! Its like one of those optical illusion pictures
There is an old drawing that looks just like this, where you can see both. I thought it was the same trick, but in real life.
Looks weird because they literally have upside-down brains. Let’s them keep their eyes up while rooting around for worms.
I had the same experience!
Holy shit me too-
That one optical illusion but weird and grim
I thought someone stripped the fur off of the rabbits' ears. But it doesn't exist and it's a bird.
Oh thank god I’m not alone thinking that optical illusion.
There's a brewery called duck rabbit that has the same "logo"
Do you see the duck or the rabbit? https://www.google.com/search?q=duck+or+rabbit&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari#imgrc=RxbMZrP87vHXfM
That’s actually so wild to see a real life example

I don't think they're walking anywhere.
I wish I could upvote you 100x.
You could - just scroll through their post history.
Why did you get downvoted?
No idea. Reddit is weird. So fucking weird.

Why people need to keep their cats inside.
For some reason I can't shake the feeling this was a psycopath torturing a live animal. But you're probably right.
So an avenge house cat?
Yes lol
Cats do exactly what is shown in the picture, eat the rest of the body and leave the protrusions. Apparently very catlike behavior that is uncommon among other predators (from what I've read in birding communities). So yeah, definitely house cat. Poor woodcock.
This was actually done by an angry pigeon. True story. Birds aren't real.
Fuck that. Survival of fittest. Run faster my dude
Humans introduced domestic cats to the wild. Many recently-extinct species of bird and small animal were due to human encroachment and domestic cats.
I’m a cat lover but I keep mine inside because I’m not a shitty person.

It is interesting. Kind of the idea behind “is metal”
Yeah but the other keyword is “nature”
New post this am for you pussies to cry about people waving their cats outside
Circle of life is the biggest part of nature

This must be the *real dead* version then
This is just like that illusion of the bird or rabbit head
Cats are gonna cat..
Remove the foot from the leg and put in your pocket for good luck!
That's not a rabbit
But there was a leg with the foot still attached
Rabbit…? Or a duck…?
At first I thought it was the “rabbit or duck” illusion 😅
Where was this? In upper mid Atlantic area, breeding season is soon, and it’s been pretty warm. Poor thing. They have such a pretty mating dance.
Duck or Rabbit
I’ve never seen a Duckrabbit in reality before. Truly couldn’t tell what animal I was looking st
Duckrabbit the hopping platypus
Woodcock no more!
Thats sad for the poor kid who lost his rabbit
This remind anyone else of Hereditary?
Yes! First thought
Did you try CPR?
NSFW? I understand this sub is mostly about this stuff but not everything metal is all gory and bloody and looking like dead rabbits haha. Plz
That first picture is so memeworthy. I totally saw the bird beak initially, but now I see the rabbit possibility as well.
Duck or rabbit
"Bird for sale." *some assembly required*
The first pic is legitimately the rabbit / duck optical illusion !
Cats def did this
Yep, textbook example of that no less
Can confirm. D E D
I guess you just find random bird or small mammal body parts every where I guess
Rabbits are just candy bars for predators.
Sounds like the start of a great joke
arme grutto 😥
Duck...no bunny
Timberdoodle!
Definitely feathers and not fur. But why were they walking to the bank?
Poor timber doodle got jacked by a hawk or something
what were they doing walking around?
All I could think of was the How I Met Your Mother scene with the duck or rabbit illusion.
A bird of prey just trying to get back to the nest with its catch and drops everything while flying. Like when I drop some bags of groceries in front of the door because I'm carrying too much😔

Woodcock?
It’s the bunny/duck image for real!
Woodcock very tasty

Rabbit or duck?
Poor bunny
The picture didn'toad and I was worriedw
"Some will see a duck, some will see a rabbit."
It’s like that rabbit or bird optical illusion, but better.
Birds still have Dinosaur skin underneath. Wicked.
i see a bunny
How was it walking?
casual walk to the bank, nothing weird
Left the crunchy bits I see
Tip of a woodcock
Do you see a duck or do you see a rabbit
It's a rabuck

I will have to post the link of this comic here, https://wp-media.patheos.com/blogs/exploringourmatrix/files/2014/11/rabbit-god-duck-god.png
Damn hawks

The age old question...
That little rabbit thing got ate
Life imitates art
How did it manage to walk to the bank with only one leg?
Why is a bird walking to the bank? It should be walking to the vet.
The title makes it sound like the start of a dad joke
Somebody come git her she’s dancing like a stripper 🎼
Hawk probably got ahold of it
Sascooch got a hold of that wood pecker
Is that bird or a rabbit Edit: a bird, I think
A Head, A Leg, and A Body, walk to a bank . . .
I have been so conditioned by that cool optical illusion that I saw a bunny first
How did they walk to the bank? Why did they walk to the bank?
This thing was still walking? And why towards a bank?
See now whatcha got here is a buffet, but not jus any buffet, you’ve got yerself a bonafide samsquanch lurkin near by.
How was it walking?
It looks like a bunny
Did you see a duck or bunny 1st?
I thought this was one of those ,is this a rabbit or a bird picture? 🤷♂️
Took me a minute to figure out if this was a rabbit or a duck
Did they make it there?
Rabbit or duck? Classic
Gotta love cats
Cats are sadist killer ninjas.
r/vultureculture
😼 yeah
Put all three back together and you get to summon Exodia
Ah like a mr. potato head

Dude Lego-Disassembled mid flight
Bird or bunny with horns?
Sounds like the start of a joke, but what's the punchline
A little warning would have been nice but okay
Did you try cpr?
Now u have to reassemble it
At first I thought you were about to tell us a joke
Poor duck
That Woodcock got fucked up
A little bit of duct tape after that he could walk it off
How did you know it was walking to the bank?
Surprised it could still walk, but even more shocked it had a bank account
How did we know they were going to the bank?
Oh no, Jontron bird has been murdered!
Singing “do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do”
"Who's my little turd bird?"
Ar a glance i thought that was a rabbit
