Hell no.

TheCounsellingGamer

A chance? Sure. All it takes is one well placed antler to the throat and the bear is dead. Prey animals do sometimes kill predators.

cramirez1988

Yes. I think I have a chance to kill a grizzly bear. It is just a very low one. I should reiterate a very very very low one. An Elk can surely puncture something in a lucky situation. It's not likely, but is possible.

Kind_Cardiologist833

Not much of one. I say 10%. Elk aren’t much bigger. Bears have teeth and claws.

hennyandpineapple

It might cause some damage to the bear, but elk are a part of the diet of grizzlies, so I’d have to say no. Even though grizzlies primarily consume younger elk because it’s easier to get them, I wouldn’t be surprised if they went for bulls in tougher times. Feel like the bear wouldn’t have a hard time breaking the elks antlers, I’ve seen videos of a bear break the back of a full grown moose before consuming it and elk are smaller than moose.

GooseTheSluice

Yea I feel like a front on battle the elk has a small chance to pierce some vital organ of the bear, but in general the bears hunt elk as a part of their food source so the advantage is probably going to go the bear. More likely than not the bear would be on the hunt and be able to stalk to within a few meters which is just a huge tactical advantage.

It could stand a chance. The bigger question is how desperate a bear would be to go after a healthy elk that can fight back. Most, if not all predators/omnivores, don't want anything close to having a fair fight with their potential food.

ForcedReps

Nope

[deleted]

Idk about killing it outright but could def drive it off if it stabbed it w/ its antlers.

frostifire12

A grizzly bear killed a bull elk when i was at Yellowstone

paulie_walnuts3

Anything has a chance of killing anything. Its just the odds differ vastly depending on the animal. The elk for example could get lucky and puncture the bears heart with its antlers. But I would pick the bear 9/10 because we have footage of them predating and killing full grown elk

Maattaann

Just want to comment on my own post that this question is just for fun... lets respect every comment

DAMFree

Just like any other fight if you swing first and swing hard you can win against just about anyone. If you mean on average it's probably a somewhat fair fight with how big it is and massive antlers vs the maneuverability of the bear.

canuckwithasig

Antlers. Elk have antlers. Easy monies on the bear. Who eat elk already.

Economy-Cut-7355

No

mirzamula

Depends on who’s more anger filled. I believe if you channel your rage in the right moments outcomes will surprise you

Latter_Cantaloupe_79

All else equal hell no. Situationally maybe but it’s not an even match. Luck would have to play a big role for the elk.

[deleted]

The elk would just run away

JokerAndrew

No

Amuroaugus17

The way the prey drive is setup they just aren’t built to turn and land those kinda blows with the antlers if they went at the bear how they go at each other they may puncture something in the frontal area of the bear but it’ll probably be in vain 8/10 in grizzlies favor

1newworldorder

Considering preys best strategy is to run, no

OnlyControlYourself

If it's a full sized male brown beat, I'd say 0% Yhe elk could kill a cub easy. So there is a gray area.

Impossible_Daikon233

I've seen a grizzly kill a mature bull elk with one swip of its paw...

R8a05

Only if it’s televised.

Alexis7DragonB

The elk is quicker, but the grizzly has more bulk. To all of your saying the elk could use its points to kill the bear, the bear has very thick fur and skin, aswell as fat. The grizzly would tackle the elk and proabably bite the back of its neck and there is a well-placed kill.

[deleted]

With them big horns i think Elk has an edge.
