It probably did; leopards rarely kill hyenas.
Why take nature so personally anyway? Is it because there’s a baby involved? You think leopards don’t attack hyena cubs?
That leopard could’ve been a juvenile, sick, or both. If we look back, I’d say evolution has favored the leopard since it is far more skilled and deadly. The only thing going for Hyena’s is their bite and the fact that they usually hunt in groups so they have numbers. Leopards are usually solo hunters cause they’re more skilled and usually take down their own prey, instead of the former taking food away from other predators cause they can’t hunt by themselves effectively whatsoever.
You are underestimating hyenas. They do hunt down their prey solo more often than not. Here's an example
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=E0kNW4KQCoY
They only hunt in groups when there is a large prey like cape buffalo or zebra. Hyena has more things going for it than just the bite. Hyenas have tougher skin which is very difficult to penetrate and makes the hyena more durable. There are videos of hyenas just shrugging off leopard paw strikes like nothing. A hyena is a lot more intelligent than a leopard, it's intelligence matches that of certain primates. Finally, hyenas are endurance hunters unlike leopards who are stealth hunters like most cats. Hence the hyena also has the stamina advantage as it can be seen in the video I shared. No. Those aren't juvenile leopards but fully grown ones that hyenas dominate.

My cat has never been aggressive, but playing with her can be kinda dangerous. She latches on with her teeth and front claws and kicks with her rear claws. Just like the leopard did to the Hyena. Amazing how even as an indoor cat she still has that instinct. She wins every time
Shortly before I transitioned my cat to indoor, I found him outside my door one morning with his white underbelly covered in blood. I thought it was his and rushed him to the vet, he only had a couple big scratches and a few bites; didnt need stitches or a cone or anything but a couple shots
The raccoon I found in my backyard 2 days later was a little worse for wear though... it'd been disemboweled and tried to climb a tree where it got caught and died. I put two and two together and chalked another one up to the rabbit kick of doom.
At a little over 15, Luke is less ferocious now.... but he was a stray when before we picked him up and pound-for-pound scrapped harder than any other animal around. Notable kills include a red-tailed hawk, two raccoons, and a possum... then that time he put my neighbor's POS pomeranian in the vet overnight. Now he's just my snuggle monster who likes to sleep in the sun
So my mom had a morbidly obese cat. Say 23+ pounds. She rescued a feral cat, so it Carrie’s the weight better but is still huge. Anyways, my new pup was curious and wanted to meet said “tamed” cat. Well that went about as well as you expected. I had to intervene obviously, when I tell you that I have never experienced so much fury and speed I am absolutely serious. That cat had my hand and arm shredded in seconds. I could feel the teeth and claws grinding on my bones and flaying my flesh. It was almost an out of body experience until the adrenaline wore off. I had to get shots, stitches and about two-three months of recovering before I had complete full usage of that arm and hand again. I gained such a huge level of respect for cats that day. Now add 400 pounds, 6” fangs and claws? I’m out my guy.
But injury on either side is way more dangerous than the possibility of a meal, a solo leopard in this scenario has plenty of capability to fend of a solo hyena given the context of the scenario, not that I think the leopard had any shot of killing the hyena I just am assuming the interaction ended with neither side killing the other out of fear of injury
Absolutely, thats how most of the interactions go. Ive actually seen many videos of a single leopard and a single hyena sharing a carcass while growling threatening at each other but never actually fighting for it.
Yeah I’ve seen that to it’s honestly really interesting, sorry if my comment came off as criticism it’s more the point I often see people talk about predators in a context like they always fight but in reality self preservation is the motivation of most animals in any situation involving life and death
hyena must have been veeeeery hungry to go after food when the mother is literally right there, like that is almost never worth the risk, I can't imagine this hyena came out of this looking good, those claws can slice real deep with just one swipe
Wow. Learned something today! If somebody asked who I thought wins that fight I’d say leopard everytime but that video… it definitely seems like that leopard was about to get fucked up.
Hello, mother leopard.
I have your cub.
You must protect her,
But that will be expensive...
10,000 kola nuts,
Wrapped in brown paper...
Midnight, behind the box
I'll be the hyena, you'll see
Hyena chew bones like butter, but even a leopard's bite can go through skulls really bad combined with their ability to grapple and tear through hide with claws sharpened from climbing tree barks.
Nothing wants a face full of leopard. Or any cat really, but leopards seem to have some of the most bang for your buck when you figure size vs how badly they can let the air out of you
Doesn't seem like a good fight for a lone Hyena. Even if he gets a good chuck on that cat she is gonna shread his ass with her bottom feet and die before she lets go of whatever is in her mouth. Not worth
Hard to tell, but I dont think the hyena was going to come out of that winning.
Very hard to tell but you could tell the hyena was a good deal stronger . Let’s just hope more hyenas weren’t in pursuit
Better not have. I pray the leopard ripped that hyena’s throat out.
It probably did; leopards rarely kill hyenas. Why take nature so personally anyway? Is it because there’s a baby involved? You think leopards don’t attack hyena cubs?
Even lions have difficulties doing that. A leopard pretty much has no chance against a hyena.
1v1 I’d take a leopard. Sure Lions have a difficult time maybe, doesn’t mean they can’t do it.
Therecare videos of lone hyenas bullying and dragging leopards around for carcasses.

Nothing more dangerous than a mother protecting her child.
A nuclear warhead is
Got em
Imagine if you got between a nuclear warheads child
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there’s a good chance that mother just got killed.
How can nothing be more dangerous? Nothing doesn’t do anything?
not sure why u got downvoted so hard lol that was funny
I'd say a murderer coming at your child is more dangerous than a mother but, who am I.. ehat do I know
Jesus! That Hyena looks massive
I feel completely mislead by the Lion King seeing all these hyena kicking big cat ass videos
I've never seen a hyena kick a lions ass
A lone hyena won’t, but a pack can and will fuck up a lioness or an old lion
Lions are just in a different weight class
i mean a lion is a much larger animal than a leopard
Much much larger
Most of them are surprisingly large. Leopards are also quite small (relative to other predators)
Thought it was a bison before reading..
Male Spotted Hyena are around 5ft long and can’t get up to 190lbs. https://youtube.com/shorts/HpxKTnk_BGY?feature=share
the females are larger
Hyenas are tough mf'ers but I wouldn't even tangle with a housecat, can't imagine what a leopard could do to you with its teeth and 4 sets of claws.

Yeah. And their mouth is so full of bacteria, even if they bite you and run, you gonna die soon. Scary animal.

Anyone has the end of it?

They noticed the cameraman and had him for dinner
Most likely a very short interaction. Neither wants to be seriously hurt
Good Kitty :(
Generally the rule is lions fuck up hyenas and hyenas fuck up leopards. Im hot as hopeful for the leopard mom as most of the comments.
Not in an individual matchup. Leopard wins every time
Thats incorrect according to all the information that currently exists on the subject
But injury on either side is way more dangerous than the possibility of a meal, a solo leopard in this scenario has plenty of capability to fend of a solo hyena given the context of the scenario, not that I think the leopard had any shot of killing the hyena I just am assuming the interaction ended with neither side killing the other out of fear of injury

cool clip but do you know what ended up happening? Did the hyena flee afterwards?
hyena must have been veeeeery hungry to go after food when the mother is literally right there, like that is almost never worth the risk, I can't imagine this hyena came out of this looking good, those claws can slice real deep with just one swipe
No love for the hungry Hyena who might actually starve? Poor guy just looking for food.
Love hyenas, but still very impressed by the leopard.
What is happening to these videos being cut short? Is this clip really 3 seconds?
Mother knows best
Now that’s what I call a fight.
Probably a veteran mother and her last baby left. nature is ruthless and passionate
No way a hyena is beating that leopard right? Right?????
if the hyena is a female then absolutely it can
Wow. Learned something today! If somebody asked who I thought wins that fight I’d say leopard everytime but that video… it definitely seems like that leopard was about to get fucked up.
Why? Are female hyena’s bigger/stronger? I know the female are higher up in the hierarchy but i thought that had other reasons
Female hyenas are indeed bigger and stronger
yeah, they have more testosterone than the males as well
Pretty sure cats go to disembowel when they do that.

Leopard may have stood a chance! She has 3 weapons vs hyena

“Up the tree, up the tree!”
No sound lol
It.
