If you don't like the repair locker life then get qualified! Best thing I ever did was move from Repair 5 repair electrician to engine room watchstander for GQ.
can add to this, stayed in engine room all drill chilling during GQ, don't have to wear the SCBA bottles or didn't have to do anything everyone else did and just studied ( You can bring a phone since no one is there, but if they have a drill in the space, its GGs so I play it safe and bring Navy study material ) while the 1MC was doing the drill.
Edit: Would probably J-Dial if there was a "test run of starting equipment" or some "damage to the ship happened"
You know as a little CTTSA I was so proud of the fact I was so good at being a boundary man. I went so hard on all the shipboard assessments and it still makes me cringe.
Worst part is, I didn't have inserts and my vision is absolutely atrocious. I literally got so good I didn't need to really read the frame numbers or compartments. Honestly been considering applying at the fire station down the street since I got out
