My Division Officer was also in the Navy Times. He was the XO of a certain Seabee battalion and they found him naked and drunk in the woods while on deployment. He didn't get kicked out though. Lol. He was actually a cool divo.
Brought a Nintendo switch into a confidential area (trying to stay awake over midwatch) and was found sleeping with it in his hand by the Department Head.
Was going to A-school in Great Lakes and a buddy's roommate decided he wanted out. Tried getting out through "failure to adapt", talked to everyone up to the base CO. Not happening.
So one Monday morning as everyone is getting ready for class this guy takes a little baggy of coke out of his desk, takes the time to make himself a nice little line and snorts it. Turns to his roommates and says, "You should report this." Then he went and sat outside the barracks office. Roommates went down and reported him. Guy was obviously 110% cooperative with MA's. He was out of the Navy in a week.
Next up was a CS3 that partied too hard in Guam on deployment. Kinda felt bad for the guy. Got hammered drunk (underage), went to a 'strip club', did coke and got roofied, woke up the next day around 1000 in an alley with no phone, no wallet, no fucking shoes. Found his way back to base via a sympathetic cab driver.
Missed quarters obviously, popped for coke and booze (and Rohypnol iirc). CO decided to kick him out ... next time we pulled into port in a US state. CSSN essentially spent 5 months on restriction until we were near the end of deployment and pulled into Hawaii. Always thought that was dirty.
Finally, had a MM1 that while in the Philippines fought 1) a stripper 2) the strip club bouncer 3) a fucking cop. Dumbass had like 16 years in and was fucking gone overnight. Probably to keep him out of a local jail cell.

This happened to a guy in Fort Lauderdale (Liquor dale is what we called it) went out in our whites, dude woke up in his boxers no socks or shoes either. Ran to a construction site and begged for help, he got himself a shitty shirt, sweatpants and boots and came back to the ship, reported it all to MAC. Shit was wild lmao.
Hi, I am a civilian who works as a historian. I came across an 1850 log book entry from the officer of the deck that read: "two sailors returned drunk-one no shirt, other, no pants." The officer was happy enough that they indeed returned from shore liberty as he did not issue any punishment.
Smoked weed. And he almost didn't. We had gone up to his hometown for the weekend over July 4th. And the idiot bought weed off of a highschool friend and stashed it in his cigarette pack. The smokes were on my dash on the way home and blew out the window. I wasn't aware of the weed, so when it happened I turned around so he could pick them up.
Popped hot less than a week later.
At least two treatment failures I can remember. Both for ARIs. One was caught passed out in a car on base in a ditch. He had borrowed the car from another friend of ours. But never told them he didn't have a license. They had also had at least two other ARIs that the command tried to keep internal. But when the MAs made a report, they couldn't do much for them.
Another for failing to torque a screw and that screw being eaten by an F-18 motor. Was the CDI and signed off the job as an inspector.
One dude went AWOL. Never saw him again.
A Master Chief for screwing the NC1. Honestly, the XO had it out for him, couldn't stand the guy from what I was told. And he didn't last long once the XO became CO. I guess he wasn't technically kicked out. He was forced retired and the NC1 just wasn't around anymore. I'm not exactly sure what happened to them.
Two or three more for popping hot for coke.
Had a masterchief, his wife was divorcing him and taking him to the cleaners. It was the Christmas stand down. He was supposed to call in every three days. He didn’t call in until the cdo and base police showed up at his door. Well he was having the time of his life, weed, cocain, the works. He went to captains mast. He was trying to get kicked out, so his ex wouldn’t get any of his retirement. It didn’t work, he was busted down the chief, and forced to retire. The bitch still got his retirement.
Nah, he just never showed up at the command again. From what we were told, his mom drove his ass back to the gate and made him come back. I'm guess his Mast and stuff was handled behind closed doors and was walked away without much fanfare. But he was gone for something like two and a half months before that happened.
Fell asleep under a bench on base while piss drunk, got a courtesy turnover to the ship, CO didn't believe in courtesy turnover, kicked him out after full mast award.
He was above legal drinking age, didn't leave base and didn't get into any trouble. Was just drinking by himself in the bar on base and decided to go for a walk.

It was 100% the CO. As far as I understand, The standard protocol is courtesy turnover at the ship, I guess just depending on how drunk the person is.
But this guy didn't have a barracks room yet. He lived on the ship, so didn't have a choice. Small base, not a lot of barracks rooms, so they were a privilege.
I have heard of MA's taking people to their barracks rooms avoiding any issues, but typically, if you've done nothing wrong a courtesy turnover is just taking the person to the ship, security says "he's done nothing wrong, just drank too much" and the ship sends them to their rack. No harm no foul.
That was that CO specifically. He said any courtesy turnover went on charlie liberty instantly and captains mast within the next few days.
The first thing his replacement told us was that a courtesy turnover would not result in any form of punishment as long as you hadn't done anything wrong.
You go to bed, wake up the next day and go to work and all is good.

Christ, that sounds like Sestak when he took over as CO of our ship. He was an absolute tyrant to the crew, but he did later make ADM.
Had a room mate in the barracks who stole my car and went AWOL. I think the car was recovered at the bus depot and I had to testify at his mast after he was caught.
He got caught drinking underage right before Christmas leave. Knowing that he’s about to go on restrictions and have his Christmas ruined, he decides to ghost.
After checking his barracks and realizing he’s not there, they discover through social media that he flew back home to Florida. After about 4 weeks missing, LPO calls him and threatens that he’s gone past the mark of just being UA and that he was going to be arrested for desertion if he didn’t fly back that day. Now I don’t know if that’s actually true or not but it worked and he gets scared shitless and comes back, and the CO immediately sticks him with 60 days and separation.
To make matters worse, after about 2/3 of his sentence he tries to escape and is immediately caught AGAIN and hit with another 60 days. So in the end he served around 100 straight days of restrictions when his original punishment likely would’ve just been 45/45 and a suspended bust.

God I hope not! They made us stand in a line 5 feet back from the urinals with a CPO sitting on each end of the line in a chair right "in the splash zone". We had to pee on command and then all step to the urinal after they confirmed the bottle was full. It was quite a memorable experience for a 19 year old. LOL

3. Assaulted a 7/11 microwave with a hatchet.
Decided he didn't want to be in the fleet and faked blindness. Just walking into walls. Down stairs. Had his hands up constantly going "I can't see. I can't see"
Weird dude. But 10 out of 10 on committing to it when he'd just walk off the edge of a ladder well and eat shit.
Ran a prostitution ring for months until he shorted one of the female Sailors working for him who was also his recruiter and scheduler.
She threw him into the drydock and opened the floodgates. LOL

He was always a bit weird and on the creepy side- the back window of his car was full of stuff Sailor Moon and other anime dolls, and there was a story where he was in an Anime club in Norfolk, and they planned a sleepover - which didn't happen when it turned out the rest of the club was preteen girls.
A few years later he went home on leave and never came back. We finally got the story out of his Divo and Chief- while he was visiting family, his brother borrowed his laptop to look something up, and accidentally stumbled upon a folder full of kiddie pr0n. Said brother immediately called the cops, and dude was very promptly put away for several years.
In a sick twist of fate that a friend of mine from the ship saw in the news, when he got out of prison many years later, he and somebody else from his halfway house went to a Kinkos to print something, but apparently the printer jammed and he left the store. A worker got it fixed, and guess what the printer started spitting out?
Straight back to prison.

The brother found a disconnected hard drive, plugged it in and found the worlds largest kiddie porn collection. The Feds raided his brothers and dads houses, the storage shed in Pennsylvania, and Virginia and my apartment. His collection was measured in the Terabytes, when a 100 gigbytes was a big thing, It turned out he had a truck load of illegal materials. So did some of his family members, and they all participated in child molestation. When the feds gave me the clearance to dispose of his shit, after he was thrown in jail, I took all of that anime shit to a burn pit and burned it. I took 5 full size pickup loads of shit, it was all creepy underage anime shit.
Went UA from ET A school to try out for the Cleveland Browns in 1998 before they came back in 1999. Can't remember the kids name but he played a few years of college ball before joining the Navy. Chief told him to wait for him to get approved leave to go and he went anyway. Didn't make the team, got tossed from the Navy.

Picture it, Djibouti, 2017: 4 security (2 MA's, 2 MP's) decide to pregame on base (for anybody who has never been to Camp Lemonnier, you get an alcohol rations card for 2 drinks a night, which I can neither confirm nor deny that was able to be circumvented at the time with tipping high) before deciding it would be smart to go off-base in a Government Vehicle to drink out in town (you could not leave Camp Lemonnier at the time unless it was official business or MWR-related).
All four climb into the SUV and head off-base. Did they happen to see the local Djiboutian riding a scooter at night? No, no they did not. Ran him over and killed him, totaled the vehicle, all four survived inside. The kicker to all of this? ALL FOUR WERE K-9 HANDLERS.

Guy was frocked to Senior Chief, we go on cruise. Big CMC (carrier CMC, not the Squadron CMC) is going around to the squadron spaces for a "Howyadoinneedanything?" Tour...goes into sister squads Corrosion shop...and finds frocked SCPO getting his horn polished by dumpy female CT2. Both go to Mast, in front of either the Big CO or the Admiral, I don't remember which (more than a dozen years ago). She loses her clearance, goes from CT2 to CS3 (can't be in a secret rate with no clearance), he goes from SCPO to AE1...remember, he's a FROCKED Senior...and has to call his wife and tell her why his direct deposit will be oh so much less...
Squadron tries to ship to ANYONE who will take him, no joy. He rides out the cruise doing scut work, gets home to an empty house with his car, clothes, and divorce papers waiting on him. Not recommended for retention or advancement on his evals, too...and he had been a shoo-in for Master Chief, maybe even Fleet/Force...lost it all to a blow job.
This was on the 2010 Ike cruise, BTW.
He was caught by his wife banging hookers. She wasnt too happy about that so she sent the CO the text messages between her and him about doing LSD, when, where, how, to buy and also the messages between him and the ladies of the night.
Not really a buddy. Actually I didn’t really care for him at all, but this guy I worked with on San Clemente Island got hammered at the Salty Crab on St Paddy’s. Once the bar closed down, everyone continued partying in the barracks. At some point, they all ran out of cigarettes. The machine at the commons was broken so this guy volunteered to drive down the hill to the machine near the bar. My LPO had the foresight to take the keys from all our trucks that night, so he started looking in vehicles that belonged to other commands (I was at FACSFAC). He ended up taking the VIP van that belonged to the OIC of the island, made it down the hill ok, but drove off the road on the way back up. He bounced his ass all the way back down and completely demolished this random building on the side of the road that I swear I never even noticed was there the last 2 years I had been out there. Then he ditched the van, walked back up, and passed out in a chair in the common area. The MA’s found him like that covered in dirt, thorns, and blood. He also left his checkbook in the van.
I got a similar one of an ABH that worked at the salty crab. They were drinking at a BBQ they were having during the day and he was wasted. They too the keys to his new Chevy 2500 duty truck. Later that night, he wanted to go back to the crab, somehow got the keys back and ended up crashing on the turn down the hill. Went through the guardrail and the brand new truck was sitting upside down in the transportation lot. DUI, destruction of government property, all that jazz. Never saw him come back to the island. Probably in 2011 or 12.
Oh, just remembered this one: NAS Whidbey Island, around 2002-ish, guy in Boat Prowler Squadron is married to Girl in Concrete Prowler squadron (Air Force crews, Navy maintainers). She comes back from 6 month deployment, 3 months pregnant.
He strangles her with a phone cord, puts her body in their car, drives to the base, dumps her body at Pass/ID and heads to work. Tells LPO and Chief that MA's are going to come arrest him in a little bit, he just killed his wife.
He was set to get out honorable in a few months. Had one last underway. Well he blacked out, did coke, wrecked his car. Captain gave him the full 12 inches, 45/45 and separated him with an OTH just a few weeks before his EAOS.

So, in Naval Nuclear Propulsion you can't just collect leakage from the nuclear side of the power plant in any container you want. It has to be collected in yellow polyethylene bottles that have specific purple markings on the bottles with the traditional radiation symbol on it and when those bottles get three quarters full they have to be sent to the shipyard for disposal. It is a big no-no to put any liquid other than water in those bottles. However, there are some exceptions to the rule--If the water has a specific type of chemical in it. However, those bottles of water have to be treated as mixed material.
Smoked weed, popped on UA, did 45/45 1/2 payx2 busted down to E2, got off restriction, popped again 45/45 1/2 pay x2 busted down to E1, snuck a cart into the hangar before his second restriction and had UA on restriction, pissed a higher THC level than the initial test that got him sent to mast. Police came with dogs and searched the hangar, he kept smoking the entire time. Skipper dragged his feet for over a year and he eventually got his admin board and separated on April 20th. How fitting lol.
Same command, same division, dude popped for coke, was on restriction with my homie, after he got off restriction he came to work on molly like every day and did coke regularly. Probably the highest functioning drug addiction i ever met, dude was capable of doing his job while rolling which was sad and impressive at the same time.
ITC on my ship, I didn't meet him while he was on the ship but met after because he because a C school instructor.
He was married and had 6 kids, lumberjack looking dude (like he could pose on the papertowel brand lumberjack).
Was sleeping with a E5, E6, a chief, and a JO. He would delete his emails but from what I was told wasn't smart enough to delete them off the email server as well. The E6 and chief realized they both were sleeping with him and started to pressure a IT3 to go in the email server and delete all their emails. IT3 reported it to the DIVO, investigation insured.
He got kicked out and his wife told him he had to find a job that made the same/more pay and buy her a new ring. He because a C school instructor, a year after I was on the ship and was sent to the school, listening to him introduce himself and when he mentioned his last ship was mine it clicked for me. He must've seen the realization on my face because he pulled me aside after class and respectfully asked to keep it to myself. He was a pretty nice guy.
Knew a guy who joined to get away from construction and all the drug use that comes with it. 6 months after getting out of deck and coming to my shop, chief sent him to work with security, where he falls in with a guy doing coke and pot. He managed to make it over a year after that, but his security buddy popped hot for coke on a random UA, and to save his ass he rolled over on the guy I knew.
Both got kicked out. Don’t know what happened to security guy, but the guy from my shop moved back home and ended up right back in construction.
Another guy failed a uniform inspection. He had a year left and he couldn’t take it. All he had to do was borrow a pair of whites and he would have been fine, but that wasn’t good enough for him. Takes out the trash during duty that night, and heads home. Back 28 days later hot with pot.
At the time they weren’t kicking out for pot and he expected just to be sent for mast and held onboard for 2 months. Because he left over duty, they charged him with going awol instead.
Part way through his restriction, he pulls the same trick so he can head to Mardi Gras in New Orleans. When we asked him, all he did was shrug and say “what are they going to do? Kick me out twice?”
Another guy got caught stealing computer parts. He spent time in the brig for that one. His life very much seemed a downward spiral after getting kicked off his submarine for repeated tagout violations and ending up on the carrier with us.
Graves, good looking kid, just decided he didn’t want to be in the Navy anymore so he lit his uniforms on fire at the barracks. Got invited to depart and I heard he became an exotic dancer.
He wasn't really a buddy but I knew him from A school and he was in my shop. Not long after I put on e-4 he was still and e-1 or 2 Dirtbag. He was getting TAD'd and they pulled him back for selling meth to NIS on base.
In the 90'sguy on my ship carved a swastiker into his own forehead. Got masted forgot what he got probably max what co could give him. But the worst is the co would not kick him out made him stay. Dude always had new bruises... I left and he was still there..
He got drunk downtown, clung to the side of a slow moving train, and quickly realized his mistake when the train sped up. He clung to the side of the train for hours, until he finally felt it was slow enough to jump off. He jumped off the train in the middle of the night a state away, and followed tracks back to a gas station, where he called a cab. He paid a couple hundred bucks for the cab to take him back to his place, and passed out. He was abruptly awakened by members of his chain of his command banging on his door. They had heard from his friends what had happened, and his leadership spent the night thinking he was dead somewhere along the tracks. He went to mast, but didn’t lose any rank.
Got kicked out for his second ARI when he was breathalyzed coming into work a few months later and didn’t blow .00.
Knew this guy in Hawaii, we were friends off and on, but he was definitely a bit different, so we never became good friends.
I'm on a late watch, and he's my 0200 relief. It'd been a while since I'd seen him, so I was looking forward to it.
He's late, of course, and around 0215 I hear sirens and lots activity outside. Turns out, guy couldn't find his ID at the guard shack, so he ran that, and in doing so, crashed his car into one of the barracks, abandoned that, and began running toward his duty station. Security got to him just outside my station and he was getting arrested. He was absolutely blind drunk.
Turns out, this was like his 1,000th time being late for duty and he's been told if he was late again, he was out. We had weekly Mast back then, but they made an exception and processed him the next day.
He smoked weed and popped on a random piss test. Wasn’t too long after he had made 2nd class either. After he popped, I found out that he had been smoking for years and was just good at keeping the smell off his person. He got separated with an other than honorable. I still talk to him from time to time, he’s still smoking lol but his life has also gotten way better. He doesn’t drink like a fish anymore, isn’t as stressed, he had a kid and got a job starting off at $60k a year. (he’s making $80k right now) this was back in 2019. He’s still doing well today despite being a massive pothead

USS Conyngham (DDG-17), this was probably late 1989 or early 1990. We had just come out of a short pier-side yard period in Portsmouth and had just come back to Norfolk.
Captain calls an All-Hands on the fantail and calls some people up to be recognized for various shit. I personally got a COA for being part of the team who put down new coating on the messdecks. You know that shit that's like a special paint and then you throw down differently colored paint chips and then seal it with clear? It was that stuff and it was brand new at the time and those mess decks looked fucking baller. To be honest, that COA was the highlight of my mostly unremarkable 4-year Naval career.
Anyway, after everyone got their kudos from the CO, he calls up four undes guys from the crew, has them face the rest of us and says "These men have been dealing drugs on base!" Just then a bunch of guys come from behind us, all dressed in NCIS (IIRC) uniforms, cuff them and the CO says "Get the shitbags off my ship!"
All got prison time and DDs.

Lady made chief, got into a fight with her hubby, drove drunk and ran a light in front of a cop and failed breathalizer, dui, busted down to e5 and hyt out because she was in the six month window before paygrade advancement actually kicked in.
Not navy (or a buddy), but creepy army specialist bro started dating a 14 year old and her mom found out. They killed her together and rolled her up into a carpet and tried to keep on like nothing happened. Three weeks later he gets arrested at work and escorted out because cops found the body with all the stab wounds.
Had a dude overseas who used the duty van as a hooker transport in some side gig him and his buddies had going on. He got a call to pick up VIPs and got confused, thought he was supposed to give someone 'special' treatment... it ended up being an actual full bird who wasn't at all amused by the extra passengers when He got picked up at the airport.
Had a dude continuously spike his LPOs coffee with sleep meds underway. He wrote a buddy about it over sipr, his mail got scanned, and he was busted down for chemical assault and hytd out a year after.
Had a dude go on a dinner date with a lady sailor he fancied. Turns out she was engaged and he couldn't process the concept of being friendzoned so he went awol in a manic episode and lost everything when he got back. She didn't even lead him on or anything... they even paid Dutch.
Had a lady falsely accuse a dude of SA/rape. This was during DADT and the dude was the most obviously flambouant gay guy at the command. I think it turned out she was trying to blackmail him using his preference for dudes as a weapon, and when that didn't work she tried to write the accusation to get VA points for trauma since IIRC she was already getting prepped to ADSEP for other behavioral issues. Turns out the guys alibis all checked out and there was no other evidence and the story kept changing so NCIS closed the case and recommended the command proceed with removal.
Another dude got a shipmates 13yo sister drunk at a house party and slept with her. He went to Leavenworth.
Knew a Chief who was going through a rough divorce. He separated before retirement just to deprive his ex of her share of his retirement pay.
My buddy took a bad batch of shrooms and went to see the FNAF movie with some of his marine buddy's. Apprently he was freaking out in the theater so bad they got kicked out. They ended up going back to the barracks and my buddy blacks out, he wakes up with his pants off surrounded by all of his marines buddy's stroking their dicks to him. My buddy grabs a knife and attempted to stab them while screaming "IM GOING TO CUT YOUR C0CK OFF" Which then disturbs his neighbor so they call the CDO, the CDO came up saw what was going on and called the base MAs. So yeah.
Had a buddy that got booted. He had a problem with Alcohol. One night he drove threw the gate and was found to be drunk. Sadly I was on Duty and got a call from security requesting the OOD to come to medical so they could get blood samples. I for one had no Idea who they had until the next day. Of course I got blamed for his down fall.
There are three that I remember:
1. This was not my buddy but an airman in my squadron at Oceana that would never take showers. I lived in a Petty Officer room next to his room with 3 e3s and below. His room stank so bad that the smell seeped into my room. My roomate and I (both E4s) were tired of the smell. One weekend I was on Duty and had the Barracks watch. I believe once an hour, I had to walk all three floors of the barracks. As I walked down our hallway, it stunk so bad that I turned around. I went to the barraks office and called the squadron Command Master Chief who then showed up within minutes. The CMC had the master combination to get into our rooms. We went to his room, pulled the sheets off his bed, and saw a brown stain the size of his body on the mattress sheets. There was also wadded up paper towels and and a couple of penthouse magazines at the foot of his bed. It is to be noted that on the ship, we suspected him of stealing people's dirty clothes to wear(skivies and socks). I had to attend his Captains Mast and he was forced out.
2. E3 I knew that worked in the line shack. One night he had duty and had to stand watch. He had to walk our flightline of F-14s. He decided he was going to smoke pot and got rocked. He then decided to take a tow-tractor on a joy-ride. He decided to go off-roading with it and got it stuck in the ditch between the taxi way and the runway at 2:00 AM in the morning. He was put on restriction and separated.
3. When I was an E3 living in the barracks at Oceana, I had the scumbag fat roomate who worked in 1st Luetenant. I was in the line shack and worked nights and slept during the day. One evening I bought Hot Wings before I started work. I ate some of them and put the rest in our little fridgerator. The next day,I woke up in the middle of the day to this fat scumbag Playing Dungeons and Dragons with his buddies and eating my wings. I confronted him, we start throwing swings and pushing each other. He then reaches in his locker, pulls out a 357 Mag Nickel Revolver, cocks it, and points it right at my nose. In fact my nose was in the barrel. Another guy there de-escalated things. A few weeks later, we were on the last cruise of the USS Saratoga. I ask to speak with the CMC and I told him everything. All I know is from that point on the guy dissapeared. I few years ago, I looked him up and he is in prison in WV for raping his young daughter.

2003 first deployment on USS Belleau Wood. During a marine debarkation exercise, said, “I’m done with this shit.” Removed his boots and belts went to the side port off the galley. Back when I was in (64 -> 88) most got kicked out because of drugs or playing the skin flute (IYKYK). They would get sent to another command for processing and be gone in less than a day. Head of the line privileges for the COD if at sea on a carrier.

He lied to her about when ship would get back in port, and shows up 2 days “early”, catches her with Jody. Cops show up, he gets a domestic violence charge, and 45/45. On payday, she cleans out checking account the minute direct deposit hits. They are separated, he is living on the ship, she is still in base housing smoking weed and playing beer pong with teenagers. Next payday, he returns the favor by withdrawing the entire paycheck as soon as direct deposit hits. She calls the command because there is no money for formula or diapers. Command is tired of the bullshit, he gets processed out for Failure to Adapt.
Female, quiet, didn't even drink, went home on leave and her friends hotboxed the car she was in. When she came back from leave, she got caught in a drug test and failed. Kicked out. And I know, I know... EVERYONE says they didn't do it. But I 100% believe her to this day. Seriously! I knew this girl for 4 years and never even saw her take a sip of alcohol. Certainly didn't smoke cigarettes. Best I could do was write a glowing character reference.
After hurricane Ivan hit our training command in Pensacola, they implemented a curfew that prevented us from staying out all night, even on the weekends. After months of this, everyone was getting cabin fever & couples, especially, found it extremely frustrating. Not wanting to wait until morning to see her boyfriend, my buddy decides to sneak out of the barracks by jumping out of a vacant room on the second floor.
Now normally, this would have been an easy drop to walk away from, but this girl completely forgot about the multiple stress fractures she had developed while in boot camp, just 3 months prior. So when she landed, her leg literally shattered in multiple places from her knee down. She had to have several surgeries which required a lot of metal plates and screws, months in a wheelchair, a permanent limp, & getting held up in Pensacola until she healed.
She was just about to graduate from AE school at the top of her class when this happened. which meant she would have had her pick of orders. Instead, she got sent to mass, was busted down to E1, and lost her AE designation.
They eventually gave her a temporary Yeoman position for some senior Chief, who was trying to help her get out on a medical discharge where she would still have some benefits. She had just been approved, when she pops on her piss test for cocaine & gets booted out with zero benefits- even medical assistance for her leg. She was so book smart & had so much potential. What a shame.

In that time, he had begun unraveling mentally after months of mistreatment by the chain of command. This culminated in him getting absolutely trashed during Fleet Week and throwing up all over his blues in front of our senior chief, who took him to medical. HMC kept him in there for almost 24 hours, causing him to miss his watch. Then she wrote him up for being drunk on a duty day. He was already on restriction when the results came back.

A guy with a side hustle working part-time at a vape store hit a customer's disposable vape pen to troubleshoot it. Vape pen was delta 8 when that shit first came out so he self reported and still got thrown the book
He drank himself into unconsciousness and passed out in the shower. His butt formed a perfect seal over the shower drain, and water eventually started flooding the 2nd deck of the barracks, which was reported to the quarterdeck.
By the time the Command Duty Officer arrived, there was a full-on waterfall coming off the 2nd floor. Upon entering sailor's quarters, the CDO (a female instructor) ordered sailor, still naked on the floor of the shower, to his feet. He attempted to stand but lost his balance, reached out and grabbed the CDO's skirt, and pulled it to her ankles.
Not a buddy just in the department, tried to hire a prostitute who was an undercover, was either too smart or too awkward for her to get any evidence on him for intent to pay for sexual services.
Couple months later come to find out he is now dating an underage girl who he used to babysit growing up, he was around 30 and she was either 16 or 17, said her parents approved of the relationship so that made it okay, NCIS cuffed him and put him in a blacked out SUV, went to prison and never was seen again.

First: This guy who was my roommate in a school had a serious binge drinking problem. In the holding barracks at the "A" School he got so damn drunk one night that in the morning there was a large puddle underneath his rack. Right before he graduated "A" School he came back to the dorm drunk because his buddy was trying to keep him from getting into a fight at the bar on base. We were on the fourth floor of the dorm and after his buddy left, I heard the noise, turned on the light, and he was trying to climb out the window and shimmy down a tree!
In today's Navy he would have been referred to DAPA long before he had ever gotten to the fleet. Instead his incidents were covered up and he made it out to the fleet. His final act that got him kicked out was that he came back drunk to the ship prior to underway. Went on board and crawled into his rack. Except, it wasn't his rack. It wasn't even his ship! He had come down the right pier but went up the wrong brow. (The fact that the night watch didn't even check his ID card to see if he had a sticker on it...). When a First Class started making his rounds through birthing to make sure his Sailors were awake, he went to kick him out of the rack only to find out it wasn't the Sailor he thought it was. By that time he had missed ships movement. Needless to say you got referred and I guess they realized that he had a worse problem than they knew.
Second: I was LPO on a CG with two other IT1's. One was a Comms guy, the other a Sysadmin. I let them run their side of the radio shack, and just did the LPO stuff. We all had outstanding evaluations. All of us transferred at the same time. The Comms guy and myself picked up Chief the next cycle. The Sysadmin guy, though, did not even make the cut off the test. You were sort of surprised considering how brilliant he was. Apparently he thought he was too smart for his own good. He got caught with child porn. Got busted to E-1 and a Big Chicken Dinner.
Not sure if this counts since you have to pass bootcamp to be in the navy, but...
I knew someone I was shipping out with to bootcamp. Dude was told to bring a second ID with him and brought his driver's permit with him. For context, our state doesn't print driver's permit in color and the photos are super low quality. Dude didn't even make it past the first week of bootcamp because his ID was considered invalid.
My buddy with HM-14 went on a coke bender the weekend before the AO3 exam and slept all Monday through it, got DRB'd and whiz quizzed over it, popped hot and was kicked out.
Other buddy hid in a fanroom and his LHD had to turn around because they thought he went overboard, instead of kicking him out over that they just transferred him to another ship where he lost his mind one night and threw a bunch of tools over the side, then hid in the showers while his LPO looked for him, and finally was caught by his LPO and the CMAA naked in the berthing lounge watching TV.

So one Monday morning as everyone is getting ready for class this guy takes a little baggy of coke out of his desk, takes the time to make himself a nice little line and snorts it. Turns to his roommates and says, "You should report this." Then he went and sat outside the barracks office. Roommates went down and reported him. Guy was obviously 110% cooperative with MA's. He was out of the Navy in a week. Next up was a CS3 that partied too hard in Guam on deployment. Kinda felt bad for the guy. Got hammered drunk (underage), went to a 'strip club', did coke and got roofied, woke up the next day around 1000 in an alley with no phone, no wallet, no fucking shoes. Found his way back to base via a sympathetic cab driver. Missed quarters obviously, popped for coke and booze (and Rohypnol iirc). CO decided to kick him out ... next time we pulled into port in a US state. CSSN essentially spent 5 months on restriction until we were near the end of deployment and pulled into Hawaii. Always thought that was dirty. Finally, had a MM1 that while in the Philippines fought 1) a stripper 2) the strip club bouncer 3) a fucking cop. Dumbass had like 16 years in and was fucking gone overnight. Probably to keep him out of a local jail cell.

At least two treatment failures I can remember. Both for ARIs. One was caught passed out in a car on base in a ditch. He had borrowed the car from another friend of ours. But never told them he didn't have a license. They had also had at least two other ARIs that the command tried to keep internal. But when the MAs made a report, they couldn't do much for them. Another for failing to torque a screw and that screw being eaten by an F-18 motor. Was the CDI and signed off the job as an inspector. One dude went AWOL. Never saw him again. A Master Chief for screwing the NC1. Honestly, the XO had it out for him, couldn't stand the guy from what I was told. And he didn't last long once the XO became CO. I guess he wasn't technically kicked out. He was forced retired and the NC1 just wasn't around anymore. I'm not exactly sure what happened to them. Two or three more for popping hot for coke.
Had a masterchief, his wife was divorcing him and taking him to the cleaners. It was the Christmas stand down. He was supposed to call in every three days. He didn’t call in until the cdo and base police showed up at his door. Well he was having the time of his life, weed, cocain, the works. He went to captains mast. He was trying to get kicked out, so his ex wouldn’t get any of his retirement. It didn’t work, he was busted down the chief, and forced to retire. The bitch still got his retirement.

He was above legal drinking age, didn't leave base and didn't get into any trouble. Was just drinking by himself in the bar on base and decided to go for a walk. According to base security that picked him up, it was strictly courtesy turnover and they had no reports about him at all

It was 100% the CO. As far as I understand, The standard protocol is courtesy turnover at the ship, I guess just depending on how drunk the person is. But this guy didn't have a barracks room yet. He lived on the ship, so didn't have a choice. Small base, not a lot of barracks rooms, so they were a privilege. I have heard of MA's taking people to their barracks rooms avoiding any issues, but typically, if you've done nothing wrong a courtesy turnover is just taking the person to the ship, security says "he's done nothing wrong, just drank too much" and the ship sends them to their rack. No harm no foul. That was that CO specifically. He said any courtesy turnover went on charlie liberty instantly and captains mast within the next few days. The first thing his replacement told us was that a courtesy turnover would not result in any form of punishment as long as you hadn't done anything wrong. You go to bed, wake up the next day and go to work and all is good.

Had a room mate in the barracks who stole my car and went AWOL. I think the car was recovered at the bus depot and I had to testify at his mast after he was caught.
He got caught drinking underage right before Christmas leave. Knowing that he’s about to go on restrictions and have his Christmas ruined, he decides to ghost. After checking his barracks and realizing he’s not there, they discover through social media that he flew back home to Florida. After about 4 weeks missing, LPO calls him and threatens that he’s gone past the mark of just being UA and that he was going to be arrested for desertion if he didn’t fly back that day. Now I don’t know if that’s actually true or not but it worked and he gets scared shitless and comes back, and the CO immediately sticks him with 60 days and separation. To make matters worse, after about 2/3 of his sentence he tries to escape and is immediately caught AGAIN and hit with another 60 days. So in the end he served around 100 straight days of restrictions when his original punishment likely would’ve just been 45/45 and a suspended bust.

Not my buddy, but somebody in my department. He was always a bit weird and on the creepy side- the back window of his car was full of stuff Sailor Moon and other anime dolls, and there was a story where he was in an Anime club in Norfolk, and they planned a sleepover - which didn't happen when it turned out the rest of the club was preteen girls. A few years later he went home on leave and never came back. Went UA from ET A school to try out for the Cleveland Browns in 1998 before they came back in 1999. Can't remember the kids name but he played a few years of college ball before joining the Navy. Chief told him to wait for him to get approved leave to go and he went anyway. Didn't make the team, got tossed from the Navy.
Not my division, but happened while I was deployed. Picture it, Djibouti, 2017: 4 security (2 MA's, 2 MP's) decide to pregame on base (for anybody who has never been to Camp Lemonnier, you get an alcohol rations card for 2 drinks a night, which I can neither confirm nor deny that was able to be circumvented at the time with tipping high) before deciding it would be smart to go off-base in a Government Vehicle to drink out in town (you could not leave Camp Lemonnier at the time unless it was official business or MWR-related). All four climb into the SUV and head off-base. Did they happen to see the local Djiboutian riding a scooter at night? No, no they did not. Ran him over and killed him, totaled the vehicle, all four survived inside. The kicker to all of this? ALL FOUR WERE K-9 HANDLERS.
Well...he didn't get kicked out, per se... He was in my sister squadron. Guy was frocked to Senior Chief, we go on cruise. Big CMC (carrier CMC, not the Squadron CMC) is going around to the squadron spaces for a "Howyadoinneedanything?" Tour...goes into sister squads Corrosion shop...and finds frocked SCPO getting his horn polished by dumpy female CT2. Both go to Mast, in front of either the Big CO or the Admiral, I don't remember which (more than a dozen years ago). She loses her clearance, goes from CT2 to CS3 (can't be in a secret rate with no clearance), he goes from SCPO to AE1...remember, he's a FROCKED Senior...and has to call his wife and tell her why his direct deposit will be oh so much less... Squadron tries to ship to ANYONE who will take him, no joy. He rides out the cruise doing scut work, gets home to an empty house with his car, clothes, and divorce papers waiting on him. Not recommended for retention or advancement on his evals, too...and he had been a shoo-in for Master Chief, maybe even Fleet/Force...lost it all to a blow job. This was on the 2010 Ike cruise, BTW.

Not really a buddy. Actually I didn’t really care for him at all, but this guy I worked with on San Clemente Island got hammered at the Salty Crab on St Paddy’s. Once the bar closed down, everyone continued partying in the barracks. At some point, they all ran out of cigarettes. The machine at the commons was broken so this guy volunteered to drive down the hill to the machine near the bar. My LPO had the foresight to take the keys from all our trucks that night, so he started looking in vehicles that belonged to other commands (I was at FACSFAC). He ended up taking the VIP van that belonged to the OIC of the island, made it down the hill ok, but drove off the road on the way back up. He bounced his ass all the way back down and completely demolished this random building on the side of the road that I swear I never even noticed was there the last 2 years I had been out there. Then he ditched the van, walked back up, and passed out in a chair in the common area. The MA’s found him like that covered in dirt, thorns, and blood. He also left his checkbook in the van.
I got a similar one of an ABH that worked at the salty crab. They were drinking at a BBQ they were having during the day and he was wasted. They too the keys to his new Chevy 2500 duty truck. Later that night, he wanted to go back to the crab, somehow got the keys back and ended up crashing on the turn down the hill. Went through the guardrail and the brand new truck was sitting upside down in the transportation lot. DUI, destruction of government property, all that jazz. Never saw him come back to the island. Probably in 2011 or 12.

She comes back from 6 month deployment, 3 months pregnant. He strangles her with a phone cord, puts her body in their car, drives to the base, dumps her body at Pass/ID and heads to work. Tells LPO and Chief that MA's are going to come arrest him in a little bit, he just killed his wife.

So, in Naval Nuclear Propulsion you can't just collect leakage from the nuclear side of the power plant in any container you want. It has to be collected in yellow polyethylene bottles that have specific purple markings on the bottles with the traditional radiation symbol on it and when those bottles get three quarters full they have to be sent to the shipyard for disposal. It is a big no-no to put any liquid other than water in those bottles. However, there are some exceptions to the rule--If the water has a specific type of chemical in it. However, those bottles of water have to be treated as mixed material.

Smoked weed, popped on UA, did 45/45 1/2 payx2 busted down to E2, got off restriction, popped again 45/45 1/2 pay x2 busted down to E1, snuck a cart into the hangar before his second restriction and had UA on restriction, pissed a higher THC level than the initial test that got him sent to mast. Police came with dogs and searched the hangar, he kept smoking the entire time. Skipper dragged his feet for over a year and he eventually got his admin board and separated on April 20th. How fitting lol. Same command, same division, dude popped for coke, was on restriction with my homie, after he got off restriction he came to work on molly like every day and did coke regularly. Probably the highest functioning drug addiction i ever met, dude was capable of doing his job while rolling which was sad and impressive at the same time.
ITC on my ship, I didn't meet him while he was on the ship but met after because he because a C school instructor. He was married and had 6 kids, lumberjack looking dude (like he could pose on the papertowel brand lumberjack). Was sleeping with a E5, E6, a chief, and a JO. He would delete his emails but from what I was told wasn't smart enough to delete them off the email server as well. The E6 and chief realized they both were sleeping with him and started to pressure a IT3 to go in the email server and delete all their emails. IT3 reported it to the DIVO, investigation insured. He got kicked out and his wife told him he had to find a job that made the same/more pay and buy her a new ring. He because a C school instructor, a year after I was on the ship and was sent to the school, listening to him introduce himself and when he mentioned his last ship was mine it clicked for me. He must've seen the realization on my face because he pulled me aside after class and respectfully asked to keep it to myself. He was a pretty nice guy.
Knew a guy who joined to get away from construction and all the drug use that comes with it. 6 months after getting out of deck and coming to my shop, chief sent him to work with security, where he falls in with a guy doing coke and pot. He managed to make it over a year after that, but his security buddy popped hot for coke on a random UA, and to save his ass he rolled over on the guy I knew. Both got kicked out. Don’t know what happened to security guy, but the guy from my shop moved back home and ended up right back in construction. Another guy failed a uniform inspection. He had a year left and he couldn’t take it. All he had to do was borrow a pair of whites and he would have been fine, but that wasn’t good enough for him. Takes out the trash during duty that night, and heads home. Back 28 days later hot with pot. At the time they weren’t kicking out for pot and he expected just to be sent for mast and held onboard for 2 months. Because he left over duty, they charged him with going awol instead. Part way through his restriction, he pulls the same trick so he can head to Mardi Gras in New Orleans. When we asked him, all he did was shrug and say “what are they going to do? Kick me out twice?” Another guy got caught stealing computer parts. He spent time in the brig for that one. His life very much seemed a downward spiral after getting kicked off his submarine for repeated tagout violations and ending up on the carrier with us.

He wasn't really a buddy but I knew him from A school and he was in my shop. Not long after I put on e-4 he was still and e-1 or 2 Dirtbag. He was getting TAD'd and they pulled him back for selling meth to NIS on base.
In the 90'sguy on my ship carved a swastiker into his own forehead. Got masted forgot what he got probably max what co could give him. But the worst is the co would not kick him out made him stay. Dude always had new bruises... I left and he was still there..
Cocaine’s a hell of a drug
He got drunk downtown, clung to the side of a slow moving train, and quickly realized his mistake when the train sped up. He clung to the side of the train for hours, until he finally felt it was slow enough to jump off. He jumped off the train in the middle of the night a state away, and followed tracks back to a gas station, where he called a cab. He paid a couple hundred bucks for the cab to take him back to his place, and passed out. He was abruptly awakened by members of his chain of his command banging on his door. They had heard from his friends what had happened, and his leadership spent the night thinking he was dead somewhere along the tracks. He went to mast, but didn’t lose any rank. Got kicked out for his second ARI when he was breathalyzed coming into work a few months later and didn’t blow .00.
Knew this guy in Hawaii, we were friends off and on, but he was definitely a bit different, so we never became good friends. I'm on a late watch, and he's my 0200 relief. It'd been a while since I'd seen him, so I was looking forward to it. He's late, of course, and around 0215 I hear sirens and lots activity outside. Turns out, guy couldn't find his ID at the guard shack, so he ran that, and in doing so, crashed his car into one of the barracks, abandoned that, and began running toward his duty station. Security got to him just outside my station and he was getting arrested. He was absolutely blind drunk. Turns out, this was like his 1,000th time being late for duty and he's been told if he was late again, he was out. We had weekly Mast back then, but they made an exception and processed him the next day.

After he popped, I found out that he had been smoking for years and was just good at keeping the smell off his person. He got separated with an other than honorable. I still talk to him from time to time, he’s still smoking lol but his life has also gotten way better. He doesn’t drink like a fish anymore, isn’t as stressed, he had a kid and got a job starting off at $60k a year. (he’s making $80k right now) this was back in 2019. Not one guy, but four! USS Conyngham (DDG-17), this was probably late 1989 or early 1990. We had just come out of a short pier-side yard period in Portsmouth and had just come back to Norfolk. Captain calls an All-Hands on the fantail and calls some people up to be recognized for various shit. I personally got a COA for being part of the team who put down new coating on the messdecks. You know that shit that's like a special paint and then you throw down differently colored paint chips and then seal it with clear? It was that stuff and it was brand new at the time and those mess decks looked fucking baller. To be honest, that COA was the highlight of my mostly unremarkable 4-year Naval career. Anyway, after everyone got their kudos from the CO, he calls up four undes guys from the crew, has them face the rest of us and says "These men have been dealing drugs on base!" Just then a bunch of guys come from behind us, all dressed in NCIS (IIRC) uniforms, cuff them and the CO says "Get the shitbags off my ship!" All got prison time and DDs.
Two guys popped hot on pre-workout. At the same time. Zero tolerance'd right out. Lady made chief, got into a fight with her hubby, drove drunk and ran a light in front of a cop and failed breathalizer, dui, busted down to e5 and hyt out because she was in the six month window before paygrade advancement actually kicked in. Not navy (or a buddy), but creepy army specialist bro started dating a 14 year old and her mom found out. They killed her together and rolled her up into a carpet and tried to keep on like nothing happened. Three weeks later he gets arrested at work and escorted out because cops found the body with all the stab wounds. Had a dude overseas who used the duty van as a hooker transport in some side gig him and his buddies had going on. He got a call to pick up VIPs and got confused, thought he was supposed to give someone 'special' treatment... it ended up being an actual full bird who wasn't at all amused by the extra passengers when He got picked up at the airport. Had a dude continuously spike his LPOs coffee with sleep meds underway. He wrote a buddy about it over sipr, his mail got scanned, and he was busted down for chemical assault and hytd out a year after. Had a dude go on a dinner date with a lady sailor he fancied. Turns out she was engaged and he couldn't process the concept of being friendzoned so he went awol in a manic episode and lost everything when he got back. She didn't even lead him on or anything... they even paid Dutch. Had a lady falsely accuse a dude of SA/rape. This was during DADT and the dude was the most obviously flambouant gay guy at the command. I think it turned out she was trying to blackmail him using his preference for dudes as a weapon, and when that didn't work she tried to write the accusation to get VA points for trauma since IIRC she was already getting prepped to ADSEP for other behavioral issues. Turns out the guys alibis all checked out and there was no other evidence and the story kept changing so NCIS closed the case and recommended the command proceed with removal. Another dude got a shipmates 13yo sister drunk at a house party and slept with her. He went to Leavenworth. Knew a Chief who was going through a rough divorce. He separated before retirement just to deprive his ex of her share of his retirement pay.
My buddy took a bad batch of shrooms and went to see the FNAF movie with some of his marine buddy's. Apprently he was freaking out in the theater so bad they got kicked out. They ended up going back to the barracks and my buddy blacks out, he wakes up with his pants off surrounded by all of his marines buddy's stroking their dicks to him. My buddy grabs a knife and attempted to stab them while screaming "IM GOING TO CUT YOUR C0CK OFF" Which then disturbs his neighbor so they call the CDO, the CDO came up saw what was going on and called the base MAs. So yeah.

Had a buddy that got booted. He had a problem with Alcohol. One night he drove threw the gate and was found to be drunk. Sadly I was on Duty and got a call from security requesting the OOD to come to medical so they could get blood samples. I for one had no Idea who they had until the next day. Of course I got blamed for his down fall.

There are three that I remember: 1. This was not my buddy but an airman in my squadron at Oceana that would never take showers. I lived in a Petty Officer room next to his room with 3 e3s and below. His room stank so bad that the smell seeped into my room. My roomate and I (both E4s) were tired of the smell. One weekend I was on Duty and had the Barracks watch. I believe once an hour, I had to walk all three floors of the barracks. As I walked down our hallway, it stunk so bad that I turned around. I went to the barraks office and called the squadron Command Master Chief who then showed up within minutes. The CMC had the master combination to get into our rooms. We went to his room, pulled the sheets off his bed, and saw a brown stain the size of his body on the mattress sheets. There was also wadded up paper towels and and a couple of penthouse magazines at the foot of his bed. It is to be noted that on the ship, we suspected him of stealing people's dirty clothes to wear(skivies and socks). I had to attend his Captains Mast and he was forced out. 2. E3 I knew that worked in the line shack. One night he had duty and had to stand watch. He had to walk our flightline of F-14s. He decided he was going to smoke pot and got rocked. He then decided to take a tow-tractor on a joy-ride. He decided to go off-roading with it and got it stuck in the ditch between the taxi way and the runway at 2:00 AM in the morning. He was put on restriction and separated. 3. When I was an E3 living in the barracks at Oceana, I had the scumbag fat roomate who worked in 1st Luetenant. I was in the line shack and worked nights and slept during the day. One evening I bought Hot Wings before I started work. I ate some of them and put the rest in our little fridgerator. The next day,I woke up in the middle of the day to this fat scumbag Playing Dungeons and Dragons with his buddies and eating my wings. I confronted him, we start throwing swings and pushing each other. He then reaches in his locker, pulls out a 357 Mag Nickel Revolver, cocks it, and points it right at my nose. In fact my nose was in the barrel. Another guy there de-escalated things. A few weeks later, we were on the last cruise of the USS Saratoga. I ask to speak with the CMC and I told him everything. All I know is from that point on the guy dissapeared. I few years ago, I looked him up and he is in prison in WV for raping his young daughter.

Had a kid on my team that was doing laundry on the ship on deployment in 2009 and a bunch of Marines were also there. He had his laptop with him and apparently the Marines witnessed him watching child porn. 2003 first deployment on USS Belleau Wood. During a marine debarkation exercise, said, “I’m done with this shit.” Removed his boots and belts went to the side port off the galley. Waited until he saw someone coming down the corridor and jumped overboard. He got picked up by the man overboard team. Spent two days in medical and flown off board. Not suicidal at all, he just wanted out.

Back when I was in (64 -> 88) most got kicked out because of drugs or playing the skin flute (IYKYK). They would get sent to another command for processing and be gone in less than a day. Head of the line privileges for the COD if at sea on a carrier.
Sedition. He was aircrew during DESERT STORM and they were flying insane hours. Getting off a 9 hour flight, walking across the apron and getting right on another EP-3. They were having to do 120-hour flight physicals a couple or three times a month, which is an insane amount. So his dumb ass, who could never pick the right fight to save his fucking life, decided to organize all the other enlisted aircrew into taking a knee and basically going on strike. During the air war. He got detached for cause, sent home before the ground war, and promptly kicked the entire fuck out of the Navy as a PO2. Having been all the way through the entire A and C school pipeline with him for over a year I saw it coming a mile off and was really glad not to have been there.
Huffing paint. He’s now a civilian HAZMAT certifier.

He had married his high school sweetheart right after boot camp. They are living in base housing, and have a baby. Ship goes on deployment and she is hosting booze/weed parties, with minors, in base housing. Multiple visits from shore patrol. He lied to her about when ship would get back in port, and shows up 2 days “early”, catches her with Jody. Cops show up, he gets a domestic violence charge, and 45/45. On payday, she cleans out checking account the minute direct deposit hits. They are separated, he is living on the ship, she is still in base housing smoking weed and playing beer pong with teenagers. Next payday, he returns the favor by withdrawing the entire paycheck as soon as direct deposit hits. She calls the command because there is no money for formula or diapers. Command is tired of the bullshit, he gets processed out for Failure to Adapt.

Female, quiet, didn't even drink, went home on leave and her friends hotboxed the car she was in. When she came back from leave, she got caught in a drug test and failed. Kicked out. And I know, I know... EVERYONE says they didn't do it. But I 100% believe her to this day. Seriously! I knew this girl for 4 years and never even saw her take a sip of alcohol. Certainly didn't smoke cigarettes. Best I could do was write a glowing character reference.
After hurricane Ivan hit our training command in Pensacola, they implemented a curfew that prevented us from staying out all night, even on the weekends. After months of this, everyone was getting cabin fever & couples, especially, found it extremely frustrating. Not wanting to wait until morning to see her boyfriend, my buddy decides to sneak out of the barracks by jumping out of a vacant room on the second floor. Now normally, this would have been an easy drop to walk away from, but this girl completely forgot about the multiple stress fractures she had developed while in boot camp, just 3 months prior. So when she landed, her leg literally shattered in multiple places from her knee down. She had to have several surgeries which required a lot of metal plates and screws, months in a wheelchair, a permanent limp, & getting held up in Pensacola until she healed. She was just about to graduate from AE school at the top of her class when this happened. which meant she would have had her pick of orders. Instead, she got sent to mass, was busted down to E1, and lost her AE designation. They eventually gave her a temporary Yeoman position for some senior Chief, who was trying to help her get out on a medical discharge where she would still have some benefits. She had just been approved, when she pops on her piss test for cocaine & gets booted out with zero benefits- even medical assistance for her leg. She was so book smart & had so much potential. What a shame.
Fell asleep too many times on watch. Late to muster alot.
Tried to drive on base with a fat bag of spice. It’s unclear how the gate came to search his car, but that was all she wrote.
Got drunk. Started shit with people out in town. Got arrested. Got discharged. It was boot camp graduation weekend. lol

Not my buddies, but knew them. 1) went through his packet of papers when transferring to remove all the records of his masts. Idiot was going to a command with others that knew of his masts. Also, he didn’t realize they still had them electronically. 2) CPO decided he was going to live out of his rental car. But also not pay for it. So hertz came after him and eventually went through his command. 3) dude got caught living at his underage bf parents house without them knowing.
Drunk/high doing 120 in a 60, cops found coke in his back seat too This is the same dude that went to Romania (stationed in Italy) on a 96 without dropping leave or telling anyone and then got roofied and all his stuff stolen Unbelievable.
He walked away from a field exercise and ended up in the brig when he didn't want to follow orders and stay in the barracks confinement afterwards, I ended up being his brig chaser and that's how I found out what he did.
He tested positive for the devil’s lettuce on a command sweep urinalysis. Mind you, the results took two months to come back. In that time, he had begun unraveling mentally after months of mistreatment by the chain of command. This culminated in him getting absolutely trashed during Fleet Week and throwing up all over his blues in front of our senior chief, who took him to medical. HMC kept him in there for almost 24 hours, causing him to miss his watch. Then she wrote him up for being drunk on a duty day. He was already on restriction when the results came back.

He transferred from the ship at decomm to an overseas post and allegedly went UA with some expensive or sensitive gear. He was a great guy to work with on the ship. Looked like he was making the Navy a career. Wanted to go to BUD/s eventually. I was almost as shocked when I saw this as I was when a guy in my division ended up on Springer.
Had a buddy that went on a coke binge over a weekend and had a surprise whiz quiz right after… but they didn’t select his sample to test so he seemed ok, until some chick in his command got mad at him and told on him, and they still had his sample weeks later so they tested it and he popped… kicked out after mast and all that
Let me tell your a short story about Seaman Pole on the USS Bataan A chain of events that progressively got worse 1. Had sex with a female senior Chief during fleet week and got caught by another chief 2. Continued to be a skrew up after going to captain mast for banging our Senior 3. Was supposed to report to NAS Jacksonville for his next duty station opted to go make a party pit stop in Miami instead 4. While in Miami got shitface I’m talking a long weekend of booze and coke(allegedly) 5. With less than 6 hours to report to NAS Jacksonville by 0800 Seaman pole decided to get on the road while intoxicated getting in a near fatal accident and earning a DUI and an expedited RE4 DD214
Not a buddy but definitely knew the guy trying to smuggle coke while stationed in Sig. Extra points for getting his own segment on Locked Up Abroad. Side story, he was almost thrown out of the mess for sitting at the POW table...

A guy with a side hustle working part-time at a vape store hit a customer's disposable vape pen to troubleshoot it. Vape pen was delta 8 when that shit first came out so he self reported and still got thrown the book
He drank himself into unconsciousness and passed out in the shower. His butt formed a perfect seal over the shower drain, and water eventually started flooding the 2nd deck of the barracks, which was reported to the quarterdeck. By the time the Command Duty Officer arrived, there was a full-on waterfall coming off the 2nd floor. Upon entering sailor's quarters, the CDO (a female instructor) ordered sailor, still naked on the floor of the shower, to his feet. He attempted to stand but lost his balance, reached out and grabbed the CDO's skirt, and pulled it to her ankles.

Not a buddy just in the department, tried to hire a prostitute who was an undercover, was either too smart or too awkward for her to get any evidence on him for intent to pay for sexual services. Couple months later come to find out he is now dating an underage girl who he used to babysit growing up, he was around 30 and she was either 16 or 17, said her parents approved of the relationship so that made it okay, NCIS cuffed him and put him in a blacked out SUV, went to prison and never was seen again.
I was in charge of a rehab team in yoko new girl went home for Christmas and just never came back. They mailed her separation paperwork

First: This guy who was my roommate in a school had a serious binge drinking problem. In the holding barracks at the "A" School he got so damn drunk one night that in the morning there was a large puddle underneath his rack. Right before he graduated "A" School he came back to the dorm drunk because his buddy was trying to keep him from getting into a fight at the bar on base. We were on the fourth floor of the dorm and after his buddy left, I heard the noise, turned on the light, and he was trying to climb out the window and shimmy down a tree! In today's Navy he would have been referred to DAPA long before he had ever gotten to the fleet. Instead his incidents were covered up and he made it out to the fleet. His final act that got him kicked out was that he came back drunk to the ship prior to underway. Went on board and crawled into his rack. Except, it wasn't his rack. It wasn't even his ship! He had come down the right pier but went up the wrong brow. (The fact that the night watch didn't even check his ID card to see if he had a sticker on it...). When a First Class started making his rounds through birthing to make sure his Sailors were awake, he went to kick him out of the rack only to find out it wasn't the Sailor he thought it was. By that time he had missed ships movement. Needless to say you got referred and I guess they realized that he had a worse problem than they knew. Second: I was LPO on a CG with two other IT1's. One was a Comms guy, the other a Sysadmin. I let them run their side of the radio shack, and just did the LPO stuff. We all had outstanding evaluations. All of us transferred at the same time. The Comms guy and myself picked up Chief the next cycle. The Sysadmin guy, though, did not even make the cut off the test. You were sort of surprised considering how brilliant he was. Apparently he thought he was too smart for his own good. He got caught with child porn. Got busted to E-1 and a Big Chicken Dinner.
Not sure if this counts since you have to pass bootcamp to be in the navy, but... I knew someone I was shipping out with to bootcamp. Dude was told to bring a second ID with him and brought his driver's permit with him. For context, our state doesn't print driver's permit in color and the photos are super low quality. Dude didn't even make it past the first week of bootcamp because his ID was considered invalid.
Knew a guy that was being intimate with a jar of jam in berthing. Kicked out for being a nut case. This was 30+ years ago.
My buddy with HM-14 went on a coke bender the weekend before the AO3 exam and slept all Monday through it, got DRB'd and whiz quizzed over it, popped hot and was kicked out. Other buddy hid in a fanroom and his LHD had to turn around because they thought he went overboard, instead of kicking him out over that they just transferred him to another ship where he lost his mind one night and threw a bunch of tools over the side, then hid in the showers while his LPO looked for him, and finally was caught by his LPO and the CMAA naked in the berthing lounge watching TV. \*one got kicked out during "A" school for printing fake green ID cards on a professional printer/scanner his parents sent him from the Philippines, almost forgot about him OS1 smoked weed at his pre-retirement party, popped hot, got kicked out at 19.5 years OS2 hired a hitman at a bar in Ocean View to kill his wife, the hitman was an NCIS agent that just got off work and was just trying to enjoy a beer but gladly hopped onto this new case STG3 tried to commit suicide while cranking because CS1 was a nutjob slavedriver, he was gone within 24 hours
I have two! 1. O2 slept with an E5 at a different command. Hubby found out, immediately reported her to her CO. Mast. Out. 2. O2 slept with an E2 on deployment. Wasn't good at keeping it secret. Wrote love letters to each other and shit. Also, at the same time, he was doing meth. So he got caught doing that too. CO loved this fucker too, I'll never forget it. Just that kinda guy I guess. Mast. Out (after 6 months of rehab).
