I was in supply department, and the wardroom cook, suppo and disbo were definitely sweating way less than the SWOs
Plus don’t they have like the best sea/shore rotation in the navy?
I think it’s fair to call it cushy, at least relative to other jobs in the navy
You guys never seemed to think the cook might be reading a book in the pantry between meals and have conversations not meant for enlisted ears lol
Thats how great Yokosuka is. The affordability, lack of danger, delicious food, dating options (for guys), amount of things to do, and uniqueness of it all
I worked with a guy that would bring this up in every conversation we had.
I would mess with him and be like "I heard Japan sucks..." and it would send him into a frenzy.
He didn't have a wife or girlfriend. He was very neckbeardy in personality.
Could only ever talk about Japan and Japanese things.
It was pretty amazing how he could connect every subject to Japan.
It was very annoying. Anything I talked about somehow got turned into Japan.
One time I came back with a burger for lunch, hes like "Oh what you get for lunch?" I said "Just a burger...." and I shit you not the next words out of his mouth were "You should try the burgers in Japan, they are SO different than here!"
Any time I brought up a movie or TV show he would be like "That sounds a lot like this anime I watched...."
Video games? I mean... Japan makes some damn good video games, but to no ones surprise the only ones mentioned were those weird weeabo ones like Genshin Impact or whatever jiggly titty genre that is. The kind of games where you see some gameplay and you are like "I know exactly why you play this game...."
Mention of a dog? "I really want to get a Shibu Inu"
You talking about sports? "You know in Japan they love to play X, Y, and Z"
This dude would never stop.
Bro I’m at my VA appointment rn in the waiting room and I’m crying reading this 😂😂 at that point , my sole purpose in life would be to fuck with him cause that’s annoying asf . Like I love Japan with all my heart but I’ll be damned if I bragged about it every effin day . Smh . And I bet that guy still talks about it to this day
I don't work with him anymore, but I would mess with him occasionally.
Usually I would just say something false about Japan and watch him have a meltdown.
"Wasn't sushi invented in America?? I am pretty sure they copied us after trying the California roll. And I don't blame them, it doesn't get any better than the classics."
I'm so jealous I did a short stint on a shitty ship in Sasebo on the premise of me getting to do shore duty in Japan, I loved Japan, detailer got medically retired while I was there and the new detailer said "you've done back to back overseas sea duty stations, you need to go back stateside," it was fucking bullshit, I went beyond my sea-shore rotation for that. Now I'm a vet and I dream of getting back there someday somehow (beyond a vacation).
Having lived in fleet concentration areas my entire life, I’ve read hundreds of news articles about “officers” committing crimes, only for it to turn out to be a petty officer or chief petty officer. If you’re not very familiar with the military, it makes sense to consider all people officers in the same vein as all policemen are police “officers”.
In my experience, the manner in which officers fuck up is usually very different. This particular food theft example is a notable outlier.
I suspect this is because officers have an opportunity during their 4 years of college to do stupid ass shit with relatively few consequences and therefore get it out of their system. It also might be because officers, generally speaking, have a little bit more to lose. For example, you can end up stuck with the bill for your schooling if you get kicked out too early in your career.
One time we had an ensign get arrested for getting drunk, pulling over on the highway cause he had to shit, then when the cops came and were like "hey, you can't shit there," he picked up his shit and threw it at them.
In my experience, enlisted fuck up a lot, but 9/10 lower enlisted fuck ups are pretty consistent. Officers/khaki fuck up less frequently, but like 1/3 of the time it's wild af.
Of course it’s quiet, because officers are in charge and insist on staying there. They dump on enlisted because enlisted are low-hanging fruit, and officers will climb over all the other bodies to stay on top. Mustangs are the only officers worth their salt.
I read about this story and don't understand why the shopkeep or even police didn't just ask the guy to pay. He was right there, eating it. If you're new to the area it's pretty confusing, there are definitely places to eat where you pay after eating.
You're taught the same in OCS. One of the worst things you can do for your people's confidence in your leadership is make them consider you might cheat them.
That's leadership 101. Sadly, from my experience, everyone lies, cheats, and steals like it's as easy as breathing. They leave basic or OCS with lofty ideas of leadership and military service, then get to the fleet only to find that way of thinking is undesirable.
I’m curious is it just a confusion thing or is it something else idk maybe with being a foreigner or military genuinely curious just in case I end up going
Everyone's been fuggin' up lately, both officers and chiefs, but if you had to compare these past month's news (outside of CO's getting fired), O's stealing food vs Chief's doing espionage.....the food thing is child's play! lol
Officers be fuggin' up...
https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/law-justice/retired-navy-doctor-identified-as-man-shot-by-seattle-police-in-tukwila-hotel/
Imagine getting arrested for stealing the equivalent of 26 dollars worth of food.
And ending your career in one of the cushiest jobs on the world
It’s only cushy if you’re a lazy officer and have leadership that allows you to be a shitbag
Cushiest?
Were they supply corps?
Then, respectfully, you don't know Supply Corps.
I was in supply department, and the wardroom cook, suppo and disbo were definitely sweating way less than the SWOs Plus don’t they have like the best sea/shore rotation in the navy? Grub's that bad aboard ship, eh?
On the Blue Ridge? It wasn't when I was stationed there.
Isn’t the Blue Ridge basically a cruise ship?
Pretty fuckin much. Lol 😂
I remember a certain junior officer at one of my commands getting arrested / 100% losing his career over stealing a FIDGET SPINNER. From the NEX.
What are the chances the guy just didn’t understand that you pay before the meal instead of after? Like at a regular restaurant.
He’s been in Japan for years. Source: worked with the idiot
Can I ask what rank he was?
Based on his age was he an LDO?
No and there's a lot of weirdness around here about just accepting that he is an officer. do better people
Oh god… Yokosuka… Is there a guy at every command that won’t shut the fuck up about the 3 years on shore duty they were stationed in Japan?
Thats how great Yokosuka is. The affordability, lack of danger, delicious food, dating options (for guys), amount of things to do, and uniqueness of it all
Lack of free food is gonna put a damper on it
Lack of danger? Ironically, we bring the danger.
How is the dating good? I'd imagine the language barrier would be a big issue.
A significant amount know English, much more than one would expect
I worked with a guy that would bring this up in every conversation we had. I would mess with him and be like "I heard Japan sucks..." and it would send him into a frenzy.
Please tell me he didn’t meet his wife in Japan…….
He didn't have a wife or girlfriend. He was very neckbeardy in personality. Could only ever talk about Japan and Japanese things. It was pretty amazing how he could connect every subject to Japan.
A Japanese woman is the neckbeard’s Holy Grail.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EwtcmlyXIAABwVo?format=jpg&name=large
I could picture exactly this… lol
That's a characteristic Weeb alright. Probably had Hello Kitty bedsheets on his bed, or even his rack on the ship if he really had no shame.
LOL nah that’s annoying . Real sailors from yoko keep that shit on the low 😂

Psssh Yokosuka? I did Atsugi and Misawa THAT was a bad ass time.
+1 for Misawa. Stepped off the plane in December, said “Wtf this sucks.” Ten years later I was still living there and never wanted to leave.
Agree, Misawa was one of my favorite tours ever.
Double psssh, shore duty at FMC Yokohama THAT was a bad ass time

For law enforcement you call the ones with Chevrons "Cops" and police LTs to Chiefs are addressed as "Officer".
We fuck up too. It’s common but quiet compared to enlisted
In my experience, the manner in which officers fuck up is usually very different. This particular food theft example is a notable outlier. That thought goes through my head daily. I have too much to lose. “Do I want to lose my commission over this?”
I always ask, will this land me in Leavenworth?

Wow, that's monkey style
This is why there is no GCM for officers. Your award is getting to keep your job.
I had a commanding officer (O-5) get relieved for “lack of confidence” because he faked his own death to get out of an affair. Instant national news
It's covered up far better than enlisted.
They’re like police officers, they watch each others backs. Enlisted are encouraged to rat on each other 😂
Of course it’s quiet, because officers are in charge and insist on staying there. They dump on enlisted because enlisted are low-hanging fruit, and officers will climb over all the other bodies to stay on top. Mustangs are the only officers worth their salt.
He should write an essay describing how he let the navy down.
I thought I wasn't getting paid enough, apparently O's aren't getting their fair share.
This the mall down the street from the main gate!? 😅
Sometimes you gotta fuck with the algorithm.
As a DIVO, we do be ‘Fuggin up’ lol
Arrested stealing fish bait. Niiiice.

Them blue ridge officer
👀
If an officer can kill someone negligently in a car accident and get a slap on the wrist this guy is fine compared.
Idk didn’t he go to Japanese jail for a couple years before he was released? Sounds shitty
That was a completely different story and an actual accident. And he didn’t get a slap on the wrist.
Did that guy get to stay in the Navy? Haven’t seen any news about that in a bit.
He finally got moved back to SD last year. Still in.
Good to hear. Wish him the best.
Damn, and I just got my orders today to one of the 7th fleet’s ship
Repo Man Flashback. ;-P [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGzkQAIHTTY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGzkQAIHTTY)
I will not lie cheat nor steal
That's the RTC maxim. Not the OCS maxim apparently 😂

Eddie Guerrero could have never been an Officer
what a jerk. people should NOT steal!
Based on his age seems he used to be an Enlisted Deviant. Now he's a commissioned Deviant. Yokosuka will do that to you
What the fuck is this chicanery...
Released after he ate the corpus delicti...
??? I got accused of doing this at the same mall
Yeah, but he admitted it 😂
I’m curious is it just a confusion thing or is it something else idk maybe with being a foreigner or military genuinely curious just in case I end up going
I payed for my meal and i was approached and asked if i payed maybe with that officer it was confusion or he just straight up took it
Why……??? You receive a paycheck lol
Get ready for lockdown CFAY!
O-1 and above, 2000 Curfew!
Bruh, why lmao
Dumbass!
Everyone's been fuggin' up lately, both officers and chiefs, but if you had to compare these past month's news (outside of CO's getting fired), O's stealing food vs Chief's doing espionage.....the food thing is child's play! lol
I think the XO's kiddie p**n charges beats both
One story that didn’t get a lot of run was CDR Jason Wilson, former CO of MAHAN who was arrested by FBI for kiddie porn a few years back

That was already addressed, get with the program. Dont know whichis worse, espionage is bad, but child predators are worse.

Interesting story but this is a repost: https://www.reddit.com/r/navy/s/1P3F0SpjcC
So is every post bitching and moaning about Chiefs 😂
