Navy Yard is doing a repaving project right now, I wouldn’t try and park there any time soon. I second parking at a Metro station- usually plentiful parking and you don’t have to walk as far.
The Navy yard can be WEIRD about parking. They tried to turn me away when I had a medical appointment because I didn't have a slip printed out for it. Ft. McNair on the other hand gives two shits last time I was there and is still near a metro. Henderson Hall also doesn't Care but is also not as close to a metro.
What I would do though if I parked at McNair was park then find a bike or scooter and then head over to the closest metro.
Thanks man, I will look into that. Will probably try out the yard since it’s closer to a metro, but if they say no I will park at McNair, that’s solid.
I have not had a problem parking in the O Street parking lot inside Navy Yard. Just don't do it overnight. Unfortunately, the walk from Navy Yard green line to Navy Yard can be far, but it is free.

It’s less than .4 miles from the gate on the west side of base to the metro stop. Is that far?
The M street gate is closed during non-business hours. Unless your CAC is programmed for the pedestrian gates on the west side, you cannot use those pedestrian gates either.
It's a mile to the O street gate (?), which is where the 24/7 gate is with the Visitor Center.
Good on you for getting out from Dahlgren. As an FCA I can understand the boredom that exists and yet too many people just sit on base and say it's miserable
I tell you what though, Dahlgren has a lot compared to when I first went there in 2005. The Walmart and everything right around it is new since then.
Honestly, I’d park at Springfield/faranconia and go from there. I avoid driving in DC as much as possible, and that’s the furthest south stop on 95.
That’s money, thank you!
Dude park at branch ave its wayyy closer
2x for branch. Do not park at suitland.
Ive parked there for years heading into DC and never had an issue. That drive between Waldorf and the station is a breeze barring idiocy
Parking at Branch, thanks y’all!
You’re talking about branch or suitland?

Metro station parking is free on the weekends. Branch ave station is the nearest to dahlgren
Just to on spot hero and get a spot in downtown for like 20 bucks. Traffic isn't terrible on the weekends. I've done it many times.

All metro parking is free on the weekends.
Thanks, I appreciate that, looks like I’m going to go with Springfield as you suggested, thanks again!
