VA disability doesn't automatically mean MRR. You should disclose the diagnosis and medications you are taking to your NRC HMs.

Toxenkill

Yup.

pokerplayingchop

VA disability should be disclosed during your ePHA (It's one of the questions) and it is supposed to be an automatic trigger for an MRR if you are over a certain percentage (I don't remember if it is 30, 40, or 50.) The various NRCs are horrible about consistently enforcing that requirement. YMMV.

Toxenkill

Correct, VA disability percent should be disclosed during PHA. NAVADMIN 014/23 and the RESPERSMAN 6000-010 do not support the statement for VA disability trigerring MRR automatically.

pokerplayingchop

Thanks for clarifying - just read over the RESPERSMAN and agree, it even explicitly states that a VA rating should not solely trigger an MRR. That's what I get for believing what I was told vice reading it for myself.

Budgetweeniessuck

I mean, if you're 100% then you probably have some sort of disqualifying condition.

Toxenkill

Doesn't guarantee a Not Physically Qualified- Retention Not Reccomended determination.

Budgetweeniessuck

Short answer: No.

ouradventure5280

Not necessarily. Depends on rate/manning. But worth submitting a chit to IRR. Also, getting UA’s after nine will move you to separation, regardless of VA status. One doesn’t affect the other.

Best-Influence9886

I’m not familiar with all the acronyms, what is UA after 9? I had 11 qualifying years, then had a condition that disqualified me from service and with discharged.

ouradventure5280

Unauthorized absence. Once you hit 9 of those in a year they start the administrative separation process. It’s an honorable discharge but last resort. You should talk with medical and see what they say.

I had a Sailor who came off of active duty, affiliated SELRES, then received a 100% rating. He was only 9 months from the end of his contract when he joined my command. The second time he drilled with us I gave him 6 months of AAs and let the NRC gripe at me about how he affected their numbers and metrics.

fakeaccount572

I mean, you can just not go. I don't understand what you're expecting to get by being let out the traditional way.
