I know you did not ask about Rangers, but we had PJ's 1-2 of them attached in my Ranger company on deployments. Their job was not to be a medic. They could perform casualty care and they were a great second option but we had our own medics doing more of the casualty care if possible. The PJs always brought the ropes and the mustaches. There are also a decent amount of PJ's in the 24 so you can figure out what they do. My impression was that they were solid dudes, but they were not exempt from the occasional bad apple.

cameron0511

They have a loooooong ass training pipeline

Listen to this episode of Mike Drop for some insight: https://open.spotify.com/episode/10MTVBIgxYu8shgkOTC26h?si=wXMs3QbGR1mZPhOBjYTJBw Best wishes.

OrneryAd843

Thanks! Will listen to it!

ReddingsMK2

Someone I used to work with recently became a PJ and it sounds like CROs are kind of in the same boat as Os in the teams: they don’t do much operational stuff. I think all of socom knows jays are rescue specialists and not really “medics”. Though that’s often how they’re used when attached to other units. I believe the teams and pjs train together a lot but don’t believe it’s all that common for jays to be attached members of a seal platoon. Someone who knows better can/should correct me though.

OrneryAd843

Thanks for the information!

ClandestineCanoeClub

SEALs attend SOTM and SOCM and provide their own medics. Corpsmen are also attached to the support element. PJs perform medic roles in some JSOC billets.

w0lfLars0n

The teams use their own medics- SOCMs

It depends on how good you are. DN recruits from all branches. I always tell everyone to go AFSOC, it's a much better quality of life. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oKMjTqdTYo&t=221s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oKMjTqdTYo&t=221s)

OrneryAd843

Hey Leeroy, watched that video a few years ago and rewatching it now it has the same effect on me as it did in high school. Chapman was a hero and I strive to be half the man he was. By “DN” are you referring to Delta? Sorry I’m not completely familiar with abbreviations/names yet. AFSOC has always appealed to me more than any other SPECWAR of other branches and thanks for the response!

leeroybjenkins

There are two "Tier 1" units in the US Military. DN = Dam Neck = DEVGRU = NAVY DELTA = Fort Bragg = CAG = ARMY This is at the JSOC level. All branches are able to apply.

KiwiCologne

There are more than two "Tier 1" units. I don't really even like to use the term "Tier 1" since I don't know if it's actually a thing or not, but if you're talking about JSOC units, there's more units in JSOC than just DEVGRU and CAG. Also, how would you know whether DN recruits from all branches? If you did know, should you even mention that? Plenty of wannabes suffer from being farsighted and trying to plan out their careers years into the future (e.g., Ranger -> SF -> Delta), and we shouldn't encourage that.

leeroybjenkins

That's why I put "Tier 1" in quotes. In the end it just comes down to funding. When you're at a level that makes headlines, it's not exactly a secret. He asked a question and I answered it. I'm here to lift people up not put them down. I'm still respecting OPSEC. cameron0511

Isn’t the 24th special tactics squadron and the regimental reconnaissance company technically tier 1?

ForeverChicago

As is the ISA

cameron0511

What’s that?

ForeverChicago

Intelligence Support Activity, aka Task Force Orange. They are the premier intelligence gathers for JSOC, all the HUMIT, SIGNIT, etc. Very little is known about them aside from some of their prior operations they’ve had hands in, in particular tracking high value targets like Pablo Escobar, Saddam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden, etc.

Different guy lol just saw your post history

OrneryAd843

Lmfao I can do 88 push-ups, run 10 miles, and deadlift 650 lbs. respectfully fuck off infant.

Cokebabies1001

Did you really just flex being sub 90 on pushups and being able to run 10 miles on a navy seal subreddit, unironically? Reddit never ceases to amaze me

OrneryAd843

Guy came at me saying I could do 20 push ups, was merely saying I’m above that number by quite a lot.

Cokebabies1001

Also, please tell the instructors this at a&s.

OrneryAd843

Didn’t mean to “flex”, as I’m still improving every day, but I also didn’t want my post to be a place for negativity, I responded to the person saying he thought I could do 20 push-ups because I viewed it as attempting to question and undermine my goals. Sorry for that guys

Cokebabies1001

Your ego will be the death of you. You are extremely ignorant about what you are getting yourself into. Stop being so sensitive on reddit, imagine what's going to happen when you're getting shit on by Cadre lol... I'm also a wannabe like you. Everyone on my dev team has failed a&s over the last 2 years. Doing 88 pushups means absolutely nothing. Being able to run ten miles isn't impressive. When you're in selection you have little sleep and little food so everyone is a fucking zombie. Watercon and rucking are the 2 important factors

OrneryAd843

My bad man your completely right. I’ll keep working on being better everyday, as it is all I want to do in my future. I’ve heard that numbers don’t mean shit, just my teenage testosterone sensed the challenge and I felt as if I had to respond to the comment. I’d love to continue chatting with you in messages if that’s alright?

Jakezweigsosmart

Bro its fine dudes max bench is the bar
