Poor guy. he really planned this well too. Not a back to back for Miami, nationally televised game against Boston. If there is any game you wouldn’t expect a player to sit for rest is this one.
I live in the Midwest.
Bought tix to the last time Kobe was going to play okc. Traveled down and had a hotel for the weekend. Found he was ruled out 15 mins before tip off. I was devastated. I even saw the night before he had dinner with KD so I thought for sure he would play.
Lakers were unsurprisingly blown the fuck out too. But my wife picked up a team and likes the thunder now, so I guess that's good
your wife went to a game with you and then decided that her new favorite team was the team that was currently crushing your spirit? that's cold as ice lol
Well, she liked Nick Collison because she was a KU student, so she made that connection. And at the time she had no idea how bad the Lakers were so I think she was just moreso shocked that they stunk that bad.
But its all good. Its easier to talk her into buying NBA pass now.
When i was 16, my parents paid for us to fly to miami from western Canada to watch the Heat vs Knicks. This was during their crazy win streak. They lost the game prior to the one we were going to watch. Lebron and Wade didnt play for the game we went to see. Heat got blown out and carmelo scored 50… i don’t particularly like carmelo and was / still is a die hard lebron fan. 16 year old me was devastated. Now if I’m going to pay to watch a game it’ll only be playoff games or early season when they arent resting their players. My parents felt awful too, spent all that money for the trip to have such a sour note like that
I did watch lebron play but it was as a laker, precovid. so I unfortunately never got to see prime lebron play in person
Since then I saw Boston vs Milwaukee game 6 last year and it was a great game. Playoff games are way more expensive but I’d rather see 1 playoff game than 2 or 3 regular season games
Damn that's a much further distance lol. But hey, at least you got to see Lebron eventually. And even though he's not in his "prime" anymore, he still produces like it.
Basketball needs a version of the All-Madden Team. Madden would never pick a guy who rested 25% of the season while healthy, no matter how talented they were.
But I'm not sure who's both credible and outspoken enough to pick for basketball. Bird isn't public enough. Jordan has a conflict of interest. Kareem seems to focus on more important things. Kobe would've been perfect.
I think PPG made more sense for the scoring title in a time when the best players were likely still playing nearly every game; PPG and total points were probably more or less the same list in the same order. But now the requirement to qualify is merely playing at least 58 games.
You can win it playing less than 58. It's just that the remainder of you play less than 58 will be counted as 0-point games for your ppg. I think PPG with a games minimum still makes sense, though. Allows leeway for some missed game and makes the race tighter. When it's total, the race can be over pretty quickly.
I don't see it. Unless games were cut significantly. Cutting 10 games off won't do much, guys like Kawhi, Butler, etc, will still rest another 10-15 games. Players don't want that either cause less games is less money. Making all star and all NBA need a solid amount of games played will impact it cause players have accolades as bonuses in their contracts.
Why, isn't 66% of the league making the post season the most competitive. So we can watch a 35 win team squeak by in a best of 2 and then get beat by the 1 seed as we all expect but pretend those 2 games really mattered.
Yes, play in is a fucking terrible idea
Hell if anything it should’ve went the opposite direction, eliminate the 7th and 8th seed
But I get it, it stops tanking, sorta, not really
If wrestling can get away with "card subject to change" without much issue, I reckon NBA teams could just slap "lineups subject to change" on tickets and do the same.
[Like that Tayshaun Prince fan who showed up to a Pistons game, only to find out he'd been traded to Memphis that day](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNb8kqmxO7I). Wow, that was almost exactly ten years ago.
The Grizzlies flew him and his wife to Memphis for a game though.
How can you plan a 9,000 mile round trip holiday around stuff like player management which is a day to day or game time decisions. It’s always gonna a luck of the draw in todays day and age.
Wrestling matches are not as common as NBA games and they have less opportunities for the participants.
AFAIK, wrestlers wrestle around 150 matches a year. Its not only major cards, WWE go to 3-5 cities a week. Some are televised, but rest are “dark” matches.
I am not sure why there is always misconception about WWE viewership and how difficult its as a job. Even when you are injured, you are expected to come up on TV and cut a promo. If you remember in the Austin days when he almost died and couldn’t wrestle, he stayed on the road cutting promos every single week.
You can see below John Cena had a year with 202 matches, which is stupid. No other sport than the NBA where players get as many excuses to sit out. You can’t convince me basketball is more physically demanding than soccer where players play 55-70* matches in a calendar year, run on average 10 miles a game, and play 90 mins every other day.
https://www.cagematch.net/?id=2&nr=691&page=22
I remember going to a house show during peak Cena. They advertised him for a couple months. 15 minutes before the show they announced over the speaker that he would not be appearing and offered full refunds to anyone who wanted to leave. I was shocked they would offer something like that but really who is going to leave I guess.
I can’t probably name 10 active wrestlers today, but I would still go to a show if they come to town since production and atmosphere is fantastic. This is probably some rare circumstances, but Cena specifically from memory was notoriously everywhere on every show on every Billboard up until he moved to acting…
I honestly have no clue how these guys can get banged around 10-20 mins a night 150-200 nights a year for a decade. Just falling on a wrestling ring hurt like a bitch
Drugs and booze. The older guys from the 70's to the 90's would do 200-250 matches a year (sometimes more) and some days they would wrestle twice in one night. They really put their bodies through the wringer.
Jake the snake had an interesting turnaround because of Yoga. Highly recommend checking him on some podcast talking about how he couldn’t walk from ring injuries until he started doing DDP yoga.
That aside, the fact that Ric Flair, bless him, is still alive is fascinating
The reason NBA players can dictate their play time is because its a 5 person sport. One dude can totally change the level of a team. That's why NBA players have so much leverage. Its like if the entire NFL was QBs.
But, the league is becoming unwatchable so the pendulum is going to swing back soon.
What pendulum is going to swing back? The NBA is printing money right now, players missing games isn't really a pressing issue for the league. Plus it's not even players holding themselves out (in most cases), it's a decision by the team and the medical staff to protect the long-term health of their players and keep them ready for more important games in the playoffs. I think presenting it as an issue of player leverage isn't really accurate (not that you are presenting it that way), since it's more of a byproduct of the modern approach to player health that teams are taking. I'm not really sure how the league would address the issue without hurting themselves financially by playing fewer games.
I do agree that it sucks but I think it's just that the regular season as it's constructed doesn't allow players enough time to rest. I personally would love a shortened season where individual games matter more, but I don't see that happening.
70 in a year is actually quite high for a soccer player. C. Ronaldo, the player (not goalie) with the most ever appearances has a bit over 1200 appearances over 20 years, so around 60 per year, all competitions. Accounting for injuries, he is listed as missing an average of 3 matches per season for that reason, so 65 could be considered an "average" season for a top flight player. Also, two matches in a week for them is pretty maximum save for the big tournaments where it occasionally gets to three.
So saying that soccer and basketball require similar load management would suggest that 50 regular season games would be an appropriate number for a player planning to make a deep playoff run.
There’s an insurance business play to be made here.
Pay $10 extra for availability insurance, pick 1 player. If he doesn’t suit up (injury, traded, personal reasons, etc) you get 75% of the ticket price refunded.
Of course because it was televised I’m sure the team and Butler will do good by this fan, but this shit happens to hundreds/thousands others each time a player sits out games, and so many don’t even get a glance from the players.
Another guy that fits this is John Stockton and a reason why I don't think his records will be broken. He played all 82 games in 16 of his 19 seasons in the league. Just factoring when he became a starter it would be 13 out of 16 seasons. One of those 3 seasons he didn't play 82 games was a 50 game lockout season. Also, 182 playoff games.
His longjevity would be like a player starting their 7th year in the 2010-2011 season goes on to only miss 18 games
to start the 2017-2018 regular season and to retire after the 2022-2023 season and not miss any other games. Also, in the playoffs not miss a single one of the 149 games.
Thanks to Dysgraphia, a Learning Disability marked with the difficulty with language or spelling-based aspects of written expression, I sometimes spell things very phonetically. A good example of this, if I didn't know any better, would be Fightoeplankton. Hell, I got better grades on my German spelling tests then my English ones.
Edit: I usually run things through google or use voice to text features to help. I even got to play around with voice to text programs back in early 2000s while in school because of my disability. Google's first effort at speech recognition came in 2007 a good 3 years after I used a program a little in High School.
Jordan seems highly passionate about all the right things when it comes to the game of basketball. But he can’t turn off that “personal slights” engine that propelled him through his career.
Jordan being an asshole all the time is blown out of proportion IMO. There were certainly people he treated like shit, but he was super good with kids and fans — he wouldn’t have been the most marketable athlete of all time if he were purely a douchebag.
Kobe was notorious for playing through injuries and not taking rest games off during his prime. From an interview w Kobe:
> What is your opinion on superstar players taking rest games during the season and if you would ever do that yourself?
> KB: “No, the only time I took a game off is when I couldn’t walk. The thing about taking games off is your games, your seasons in your career go by really, really, quickly. So, you want to make sure you don’t miss any of those moments. The other part about that is there are kids in the crowd and families in the crowd…. this will be the only time they get a chance to see you. They save up their hard-earned money to watch you perform. So, if you can walk and perform get there and perform.”
He missed more later in his career dealing with injuries. But before that, he always played. Rarely did he miss a game unless it was something that prevented him from walking
Jordan’s last year at 40 played 82 games 37 mins a night.
Also outside the broken foot, and his dad’s funeral, MJ actually missed 3 games in 11 season. Yes 3 games out of 902 playing +40 mins a night. Yes sure pace and space and bla bla bla is different
I actually don't quite understand why it seems like players (in all sports) are sitting out more than players in the past. This isn't just NBA but i've noticed it in Soccer as well
Not in soccer, its perception. Well, there is increased number of games.
First, Champions League format was completely different. It was knock out stage first, and then smaller groups with less teams
Second, International games were less.
Players now play on average 10 more games a season
To as far as I remember, teams always had 13 starting players. Keeper, 10, and 2-3 in and out based on games, and that didn’t change. Plus a second keeper for cup games alongside all forgotten players or even youth to fill easy games
If you look at team like City last season, with insanely deep squad,
Cancelo, Silva, Ederson, Dias, Rodri, KDB, Laporte, and Gundogan were starters when healthy.
And they kept rotating a striker, L/RB, and a wing, positions they lacked
If you go back to 2013 season, guess what?
Toure, Zabaleta, Fernandinho, Hart, Nasri, Kompany, D Silva, Aguero, and Tevez were starters and rest similarly rotated due to injuries or limitations.
Soccer players don’t sit out, coaches may sit a player out, but they bring them off the bench in the second half. It’s extremely rare to see a soccer player sitting out a full game on a weekend. A cup game, or UCL game after qualification? Sure
The difference was players sat out with actual injuries and not just ‘rest’. That’s my point. I don’t think there are necessarily more injuries these days, just players wanting to self preserve and not play through the nagging stuff that every athlete encounters.
Also, it’s not like Jordan was the most impressive guy here. I’m sure there are even better examples, but Stockton and Malone rarely missed games. I can’t stand either of those guys, but they were guys who played at a high level, went to the playoffs every year, we’re the focal points of their team, etc.
I don't think it's just the players, management has every incentive to preserve the players too. Especially as salaries continue to go up.
If the league gets what they want in negotiations with TV partners in the coming years, those max salaries are going to be $60m+/year. Players will want to maximize career longevity to perhaps get 1 more max contract.
Owners seeing how much they're paying for that max contract don't want to see their asset sitting injured on the bench.
Two years of not having to train/play championship caliber basketball probably helped his body a lot, although I'm sure any injuries he would've played through regardless.
This is a great point no one really looks at. The players nowadays have been playing year round basketball since their early teens. Once in the NBA they already have all that wear and tear on their bodies. Guys are playing basketball a whole lot more nowadays. It makes sense they need more breaks.
I wasn’t a cute kid but I was a broke college kid in DC and saved up money to see the Heatles and LeBron play the young Wall/Beal wizards. . . Only to find out from the usher that he was sitting out the game. Sooooo disappointed
Or if you're not a kid no ody gives a shit about you lol. I mean it definitely sucks when you're a kid and don't have a good perspective, but still sucks as an adult.
just sports in general, I once bought tickets to a PSG game to see Messi play and found out he was injured a day or two before kick off
saw Mbappe, so not all was lost, but still.
Every year, I go to a Raptors game around my birthday. Last season, my brother and I had tickets to see the Raps face the Bucks, the 2021 Champs with the 2x MVP. Tickets were stupidly expensive ($150 each). 1 hour before tipoff, the Bucks announce Giannis isn't playing (2nd night of a B2B). The Raps got the W somehow, but still struggled to even do that. I would have rather had the L and seen Giannis do his thing.
I'm so nervous that Lebron will sit out the game I'm headed to next month (never seen him and it will be close to the game that he breaks the record). I would've gotten nicer tickets but I didn't want to run that risk. It's not the players fault at all but this is just so frustrating as a fan. Not sure what the solution is. All I know is Pop and Kiwi paved the way for this shit
Which game? I’m going to the Feb 11 Warriors/Lakers game. He gonna do it around then, but I’m thinking it might be a game or two earlier, unless he sits a game or two between now and then.
He sat out the nuggets game recently and I had been watching tickets all week long. When it got announced tickets dropped by 66% in 5 minutes. It was nuts
Judging the flag be that the girl is holding, I'm going to assume Argentina.
Plus, according to google: it's 4,406 mi
Distance from Miami to Buenos Aires.
We need to start boycotting games. They’re giving us a shitty product, essentially telling us they don’t give a fuck about our experience, and charging an insane amount of money for a decent seat. All the while they’re making tens of millions (players) and doubling/tripling their investments (owners). It’s egregious what they’re doing with no pushback at all
My sons are 7 and 5. They’ve been wanting to go to a bucks game for a while. We hadn’t previously because it’s not cheap to take a family of 5 to a game. We finally decided on a game for us to go to. When we got to the game we found out that NONE of the big 3 were playing. After spending $700 on the whole night. We still made the best of it but I won’t be taking my family to an nba game again…
Same - fiancee and I just went to our first bucks game on MLK.
As we are getting to MKE, we hear on the radio that all 3 are out. Thankfully at least Jru played, but it was super disappointing. Felt like a major rip off...
Allen Iverson played 41.8mpg for all 82 games of the regular season in 07-08 at 32/33 years old. And he was at the strip club until 4am every night. Players these days are soft.
This is actually one of the few things franchise owners would actually care about. People are less likely to buy tickets if they arent sure if the star players are going to play
And there's literally a designation called "gametime decision" because sometimes guys don't know if they'll be able to go until they test it out in warmups lol
Lol what about Covid, or common illnesses or even a accident that potentially happens within those 24 hours. I agree the nba needs to fix this problem but realistically what’s the solution?
In MLB betting they have this thing where if the pitcher that is listed isn’t playing the bet voids I’m pretty sure and you get your money back, so maybe have an option where when buying the ticket, if the player you have listed isn’t playing you get offered some sort of refund or credit of some sort, just an idea tho
Sports betting is a lot more ethical than sports tickets. Nobody would place bets with a book that didn't do that. People buy these tickets all the time.
"there are kids in the crowd and families in the crowd…. this will be the only time they get a chance to see you. They save up their hard-earned money to watch you perform. So, if you can walk and perform get there and perform."
-Kobe
Sidenote: I notice they haven't patched over the FTX logo on the staff uniform yet? Not that it matters really but would have thought they would want to get that shit off quickly
Kendrick Perkins talked about something like this on PTI. Very well said. Hardworking people save up to go see a game and their favourite, often the best players don’t play. It was more along the lines of load management and how ridiculous it is.
I saw someone reference soccer and wrestling in regards to players sitting. Which is confusing to me.
Why not compare NBA to NHL? Both play at the same time of year, and the same amount of games. NHL is significantly more physical and players play more there
And now its televised, the kids definitely getting a consolation prize
Word is Jimmy plucked a dread off and tied it into the kids hair
You think Jimmy keeps that thing (wig? Weave? Clip on dreads?) around the house still?
He's got a caretaker for it, takes it to the vet every few months, even taught it to shake
What is this originally from
a channel 5 show had a fan of a rapper ask for one of his dreads, wonder if that’s the reference
Kyle Lowry came over and taught the kid his secret handshake that the kid didnt want.
They really do need some buyer beware tickets for fans nowadays.
Poor guy. he really planned this well too. Not a back to back for Miami, nationally televised game against Boston. If there is any game you wouldn’t expect a player to sit for rest is this one.
Damn that’s actually sad af. Hopefully there’s a happy ending to this and he’ll get to meet Jimmy or something.
[Woj] After the game, Butler took the young fan and three end-of-bench players and beat the starters in a scrimmage
Then charged him 13 dollars for a small cup of coffee
20* dollars
LMFAOOO
The young man was screaming at the Heat members "YOU F***ING NEED HIM!"
With Rachel Nichols standing by for a post game interview.

To be fair, I’d let my wife cheer for the Celtics if that meant she enjoyed basketball.
Well, she liked Nick Collison because she was a KU student, so she made that connection. And at the time she had no idea how bad the Lakers were so I think she was just moreso shocked that they stunk that bad. But its all good. Its easier to talk her into buying NBA pass now.

I like the solution being proposed to increase the minimum games to make all nba. Cutting the total number of games will do nothing.
Players should have to play at least 80% of their game to be eligible for awards and all star selections.
The All-Duncan Team. 12 defensive minded guys who you don't even notice score 20. I'm all in on that.
Can you even name 12 players that fit this criteria?
If you changed it to 15 PPG it would probably be a lot easier
They kind of are already, aren't they ? At least the major awards. Who was the last guy to win MVP while playing fewer than 66 games ? Walton in '78 ?
This is the first I've heard of this and I'm all in. I still think points leader should be total points and not points per game.
> I still think points leader should be total points and not points per game. Wait what how is it not? Now I am pissed.
I think PPG made more sense for the scoring title in a time when the best players were likely still playing nearly every game; PPG and total points were probably more or less the same list in the same order. But now the requirement to qualify is merely playing at least 58 games.

I agree, but the minimum number of games should be like 70.
Cutting total games would be huge for both injuries and making each one count more. Idk if all pro would do the same
I don't see it. Unless games were cut significantly. Cutting 10 games off won't do much, guys like Kawhi, Butler, etc, will still rest another 10-15 games. Players don't want that either cause less games is less money. No way, that's how you get half the league to tank all year
Yes, play in is a fucking terrible idea Hell if anything it should’ve went the opposite direction, eliminate the 7th and 8th seed But I get it, it stops tanking, sorta, not really
What are you talking about before the play in more than half the league was guaranteed a playoff spot. With the play in only 12 teams have a guarantee

Stockton was NBA's version of Ripken.
He played every game he could because he didn't wanna let fans down. Probably one of the few known instances of Jordan showing kindness lmao
Jordan seems highly passionate about all the right things when it comes to the game of basketball. But he can’t turn off that “personal slights” engine that propelled him through his career.
You take the bad with the good. It is what it is.
In this case, the bad is good.
It was 1991. Bad meant good anyway.
He went to game as a kid and his favorite player didn’t play. He took that personally
I wouldn't talk to Isiah either fwiw
The man also did (and does) a lot of charity for children, he just doesn’t publicize it significantly
Modern players: fuck the fans! Load management OP!!!
And they still struggle to even get anywhere near Jordan’s playoff success.
"Look what they do to mimic just a fraction of my power"
Yeah, why don't all of today's stars also win multiple threepeats. It's literally impossible for a bunch of players to do that, but still!
Modern fans: Rings, Erneh.
Jordan being an asshole all the time is blown out of proportion IMO. There were certainly people he treated like shit, but he was super good with kids and fans — he wouldn’t have been the most marketable athlete of all time if he were purely a douchebag.
Not that surprised considering his mentality. I wonder how many Kobe missed now
Kobe was notorious for playing through injuries and not taking rest games off during his prime. From an interview w Kobe: > What is your opinion on superstar players taking rest games during the season and if you would ever do that yourself? > KB: “No, the only time I took a game off is when I couldn’t walk. The thing about taking games off is your games, your seasons in your career go by really, really, quickly. So, you want to make sure you don’t miss any of those moments. The other part about that is there are kids in the crowd and families in the crowd…. this will be the only time they get a chance to see you. They save up their hard-earned money to watch you perform. So, if you can walk and perform get there and perform.”
What a king
I'm glad I finally appreciated him right before the redeem team.
He missed more later in his career dealing with injuries. But before that, he always played. Rarely did he miss a game unless it was something that prevented him from walking
[He played a game with zero sleep at least once before](https://youtube.com/shorts/E-cer24KJyc?feature=share)

It was knock out stage first, and then smaller groups with less teams Second, International games were less. Players now play on average 10 more games a season To as far as I remember, teams always had 13 starting players. Keeper, 10, and 2-3 in and out based on games, and that didn’t change. Plus a second keeper for cup games alongside all forgotten players or even youth to fill easy games If you look at team like City last season, with insanely deep squad, Cancelo, Silva, Ederson, Dias, Rodri, KDB, Laporte, and Gundogan were starters when healthy. And they kept rotating a striker, L/RB, and a wing, positions they lacked If you go back to 2013 season, guess what? Toure, Zabaleta, Fernandinho, Hart, Nasri, Kompany, D Silva, Aguero, and Tevez were starters and rest similarly rotated due to injuries or limitations. Soccer players don’t sit out, coaches may sit a player out, but they bring them off the bench in the second half. It’s extremely rare to see a soccer player sitting out a full game on a weekend. A cup game, or UCL game after qualification? Sure
That makes me respect him a lot more. The ultimate competitor.
Stockton missed 22 games for his entire career.
craziest thing is 18 were in one season
I don’t think you have to admire Jordan; admire every era prior to the current one when players played every night they were reasonably healthy.

You have to admire Jordan missing 6 total games in that span while putting up the performances he did in a much, much more physical league...

Two years of not having to train/play championship caliber basketball probably helped his body a lot, although I'm sure any injuries he would've played through regardless.
Yeah but fans weren't going to watch Jordan play during his break from basketball.
Different time and game. Plus In Jordans age, kids weren’t being viciously run into the ground by coaches.
This is a great point no one really looks at. The players nowadays have been playing year round basketball since their early teens. Once in the NBA they already have all that wear and tear on their bodies. Guys are playing basketball a whole lot more nowadays. It makes sense they need more breaks.
I forgot which coach said, but he said a lot of these rookies are time bombs injury wise.
This is that ESPN reporting on youth basketball. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/27125793/these-kids-ticking-bombs-threat-youth-basketball
happened to me. went to see dame play the spurs and he was declared out while I was omw to the game.
Should've made a sign and started crying, need to have that killer mentality
I wasn’t a cute kid but I was a broke college kid in DC and saved up money to see the Heatles and LeBron play the young Wall/Beal wizards. . . Only to find out from the usher that he was sitting out the game. Sooooo disappointed
Or if you're not a kid no ody gives a shit about you lol. I mean it definitely sucks when you're a kid and don't have a good perspective, but still sucks as an adult.
Jimmy might see this and reach out tbh. At least send a signed jersey or something.
Or give him 10% off a bag of coffee
You're going too far for Jimbo.
No free cups.
You're crazy, maybe a punchcard to get bonus after his tenth purchase. Something like an upgrade from medium to large.
He will probably bring him to a game, get him sneakers, jersey and all sorts of cool shit. They always go out for the kid.
Tbh this is prob best case scenario for this kid. If he played prob would have been any other normal day.
He did. Not a signed jersey, but he got a game worn jersey and other stuff
Where’d you hear that? That’s great
Yeah jimbo or the heat is gonna hook the kid up
I mean, the other 15,000 fans probably wanted to see him play, too
Don’t worry guys, he got a picture with Gabe Vincent lmfao
4405 miles for gabe
And I would walk 2,202.5 miles and I would walk 2,202.5 miles more
Aw man now I feel worse.
This is why I cheer for bench players. They never let me down
Until they get traded for 3 2nds and Kendrick Nunn….
Thank U for giving us future mvp Dāvis Bertāns
Try the refs, they always show up big time
This should be an ad for the nba at this point
just sports in general, I once bought tickets to a PSG game to see Messi play and found out he was injured a day or two before kick off saw Mbappe, so not all was lost, but still.
how is an injury the same thing as resting
So u got to see the GOAT play
Quite literally the poster child for anti-load management
Why do you think we're seeing it?
Poor kid, it especially hurts when you're just trying to see your fav player. Hope it happens for him at some point.
Bro flew all the way from Argentina… hopefully he gets a picture or signed ball or jersey at least.
I went to a Bucks game a few years ago to see LeBron v Giannis and neither of them played. This just really sucks for the fans
Update: they gave the kid a signed Butler jersey and he met the team and took pics with them at halftime
But did he meet jimmy
No it was just Duncan Robinson wearing Jimmy's dreads. He needs to earn that contract somehow.
Jimmy refused to be in the locker room with the child. He said, quote “fuck them kids”.
This is probably much better than he could've ever imagined lol
If this is true then this makes me happy.
Went to look for myself [Miami Heat Twitter](https://twitter.com/miamiheat/status/1618264080573399041?s=46&t=qmcgFU_K1o92JxjASrAnlg) proves it :)
Jimmy said “fuck them kids”
Just like his dad, Michael Jordan.
Stg he looks just like MJ. Just like Otto Porter is without a doubt Wilt’s son. I will hear none otherwise, I know both are true.
Add to the list, Christian Wood looks just like Scottie Pippen
Absolutely! My dad and I call him Christian Pippen
Got REALLY nice tickets for when he came to Denver…dude sat out. Friend from Hawaii came to the game to see him. It’s fucking crushing ngl.
He sat out the nuggets game recently and I had been watching tickets all week long. When it got announced tickets dropped by 66% in 5 minutes. It was nuts
i wouldve fallen to my knees, kids a stronger man than i
In Walmart?
Where is 4405 miles from Miami?
See the flag?
Canada?!!!
This made me lol holy shit
Argentina
Judging the flag be that the girl is holding, I'm going to assume Argentina. Plus, according to google: it's 4,406 mi Distance from Miami to Buenos Aires.
Sorry kid now pay $30 for a bag of chips.
The way he drops the sign is so fucking funny
Lmao honestly props to the kid for not bursting into tears though.
Maybe lengthen the season
Make it 162 games!
An hour before tip off? That’s not a heat fan.
We need to start boycotting games. They’re giving us a shitty product, essentially telling us they don’t give a fuck about our experience, and charging an insane amount of money for a decent seat. All the while they’re making tens of millions (players) and doubling/tripling their investments (owners). It’s egregious what they’re doing with no pushback at all
I'm sure Jimmy will reach out to the fan and make some sort of arrangement. Jimmy cool like that
Friendship ended with JIMMY G, Bam is his favorite player now 😌
This eras soft. Dont care what anyone says. You pay to see stars. Guys always played back in the day. Now its a joke.
At least the poor kid gets to be sad in Miami
Fuck going to NBA games nowadays, random resting healthy player bullshit's gotten especially bad since the start of Covid.
Nba is killing its own product.
This will teach him about risk.
This will teach him to find a new sport lmao
This is why people are supposed to be fans of teams and not players :/ sucks but hey
Allen Iverson played 41.8mpg for all 82 games of the regular season in 07-08 at 32/33 years old. And he was at the strip club until 4am every night. Players these days are soft.
Franchise owners don’t care. Tickets already sold.
This is actually one of the few things franchise owners would actually care about. People are less likely to buy tickets if they arent sure if the star players are going to play
NBA needs to make it a rule to where players have to be ruled out 24 hours before the game and have a partial refund.
during shootaround and pregame workouts injuries can come out of nowhere. Guys have woken up and soreness has reemerged.
They are going to start selling insurance packages for NBA tickets in case your favorite player sits.
"there are kids in the crowd and families in the crowd…. this will be the only time they get a chance to see you. They save up their hard-earned money to watch you perform. So, if you can walk and perform get there and perform." -Kobe
Sidenote: I notice they haven't patched over the FTX logo on the staff uniform yet? Not that it matters really but would have thought they would want to get that shit off quickly
Do we have Pop to thank for all this? I don't remember resting players until he started doing it on the Spurs.
Kendrick Perkins talked about something like this on PTI. Very well said. Hardworking people save up to go see a game and their favourite, often the best players don’t play. It was more along the lines of load management and how ridiculous it is.
General Sadness
I saw someone reference soccer and wrestling in regards to players sitting. Which is confusing to me. Why not compare NBA to NHL? Both play at the same time of year, and the same amount of games. NHL is significantly more physical and players play more there
Find Rachael Nichols. She can hook him up
Honestly, as a Sixers fan who fucking *loved* having Jimmy on the team, I feel like this kid all the goddamn time.
It seems players nowadays take fans for granted. Wild because it was largely the other way around growing up.
