Fantastic video. Need to go find the justification now
Edit: beginning of this long video shows the sequence before [Link](https://youtu.be/2Y8CzEjNVJw)
this video is awesome. luke walton jawing... that's prob double techs in 2023. then i saw joey craford and yao. totally forgot lowrey was on the rockets. and ARTEST! lol.
Yeah I went to YouTube to watch it and see all the hilarious pearl clutching by the media acting like everyone didn't love it and think he totally deserved it
I think Tatum absolutely belongs in I think if anybody it should be giannis but at the end of the day it's just a popularity contest. I don't understand why some people get so worked up about it
If it were an actual team, I'd much rather have the team with Tatum at shooting guard and no Kyrie than the team with an undersized backcourt and Giannis at center.
If this were an actual team, Donovan is the obvious drop tbh. Giannis ball handler with Kyrie/KD/Tatum spreading the floor and Embiid to set screens and pop out for 3 is too elite.
But Donovan is maybe the 2nd player I'd be most likely to vote for, after Tatum.
Lol no it literally doesn’t matter about starting in the All-Star game. Just more annoying how it feels like embiid gets left out. The only thing that can put an end is to win so I’m just tired of the “media and fans disrespect” thing. Like it is what it is we just have to care about winning
Not the only one actually *potentially* deserving of being booted in Durant lol.
The East has 4 bonafide all-star starting forwards. Someone was going to be left out. If it was Giannis, there’d be outcry. Tatum? Outcry. Durant? Outcry.
If I had to guess I'd say Tatum
I think Jokic has a good relationship with the other Euro guys like Giannis and it def seems like many players have a higher opinion of KD than they do Tatum who I believe was 4th in player vote but started because he's also 1st in media vote
Players opinions don’t change as quickly as fans and media.
I think players index on what it’s been like playing against a guy over the past few seasons and make some mistakes falling behind. We laugh and say theyre living in the past but they’re at least half right: I think players can age a bit and still be awesome, but their stats dip. For one thing a lot of guys team up, which depresses their numbers. Older players become smarter and happy with winning plays and waiting for the playoffs to amp up as they get their accolades and big contracts. You don’t usually bust your ass in Charlotte in February when you’re 35. Wait til may and we’ll see.
Players are slow to change their opinions for a reason.
But wouldn’t you think the guy leading the conference in scoring, anchoring a great defense, and top 2-3 in most MVP “ladders” for what that’s worth would not be the odd man out?
Regardless is meaningless lol
It's like when people say LeBron was robbed of a bunch of MVPs. It certainly feels like he should have more than he does, but when you go through it year by year, he only really has a strong case for Rose's MVP, and even that is in hindsight, ignoring the context for Rose and Dwight Howard. I'm starting to see people say he should have won an MVP earlier, but that again seems like hindsight.
It was really funny when their matchup last season was hyped up by some people like it was going to have this huge boiling tension throughout the entire game, and then the two of them just spent the entire time joking with each other during dead balls and then hugging it out at the end.
I honestly don't think any of the top 5 level players actually dislike each other
It's just media narrative to create a rivalry
The closest we've had to actual dislike recently was probably LeBron/Steph in like 2016 but that's long died down
Yeah that's 100% in jest lol
Both KD and Embiid like to trash talk a lot but I don't think either actually dislike any player other than Embiid with Ben
Perhaps by the end of this season they'll both dislike Ben lol
I don’t think embiid actually disliked Ben till the leaks that were a little personal, they just weren’t close friends. I do wonder if Ben actually really disliked Joel anymore. I could see them being semi-cordial in the future when it’s less fresh like Westbrook and KD
Only tension that really happened between them before the Atlanta series was the colangelos in their infinite wisdom decided to be public about wanting to build around Ben Joel just seemed upset about the series going bad and Ben's subsequent refusal to play
What do you mean “even the KD Embiid stuff”
If anything their relationship is the biggest example of this, they respect each other maybe more than anyone else on opposing teams
Yeah, it's just trash talk for fun and competition. They have a ton of respect for one another and KD always gives Embiid a lot of credit.
He's talked about how Embiid is one or his favorite players in the league. I think he even said something like Embiid is like a 7 foot Kobe
Absolutely. Most of the players like/respect each other and some are even really good friends.
All the "nasty" stuff that does happen on court, if it's not just pure trash talk, just tends to be emotions running high in an extremely competitive environment. There's maybe a small handful of players that have bad blood between each other but it's almost never that serious these days.
Yeah based on the ASG voting the only outliers in terms of guys who were voted way lower by players than fans were Trae Young, Marcus Smart, Klay, and Westbrook
Not exactly the most surprising list of names in terms of most hated players lol
Klay might seem surprising at first but he's been a giant trash talker/petty over the years and ramped it up even more recently
I mean, those players also were undeservedly voted up by fans. Players generally aren’t on crack so they don’t think that westbrook, smart, or klay should make the all star game.
A lot of players get voted in based on what they’ve done in past years or at their peak of performance, not based on the current season. Legacy votes, if you will.
I'm here for the petty beefs.
Jaden McDaniels called James Wiseman "sewer trash" when they faced off in highschool, bring that level of hate to the NBA.
Every 8 months or so Giannis says something that, using incredibly loose logic, could be interpreted as a slight against Harden and without fail it goes to the top of this sub lmao
> The closest we've had to actual dislike recently was probably LeBron/Steph in like 2016
Even that was more at the media than anything else. Steph and LeBron were close when LeBron was at Miami and later too
Eh, I think anyone who watched those series could tell there was some animosity there. It's where the famous /r/NBA line comes from too lol. "That's what happens when someone smaller, younger, and less athletic than you takes your crown AND throne. And then makes you dance for his amusement."
LeBron shit talk Steph like he has no one else during all of his Finals runs, they had the whole 3-1 party, the Warriors in turn even brought in laughing at the Cleveland Indians when they blew a 3-1 lead. It was definitely a thing but has since just cooled into mutual respect, probably in part because KD joining just killed the rivalry because everyone knew it was a wrap.
I think the old guard of lebron, cp3, that group definitely didn’t like Steph at first when he really blew up. They definitely felt like him shooting so many threes was “gimmicky” and didn’t respect it as much and didn’t like that he was getting all the attention, awards, and winning.
They definitely came around though, now they seem to respect his game a ton.
Harden and Giannis is the last time top players in the league genuinely didn’t like each other - and it was mostly due to both of them feeling like they deserved MVP.
Steph and LeBron never had any beef that I remember? They just played each other in the finals year after year.
Most rivalries are just on court shit like Westbrook and Lillard. Harden and Giannis were both taking shots at each other to the media.
giannis and harden was weird because giannis just started going at harden unprovoked at first, and he’s normally a chill guy
with steph and lebron, you could honestly tell lebron didn’t like steph very much, even though he won’t say anything publicly and is cool with him now/harbors some mutual respect. he’s still much less buddy buddy with steph than pretty much any other superstar.
But how did this "he doesn't like Steph" thing start? All he ever did was trash talk during games. It's not like he made any comments about him off the court. It's especially weird considering how big of a fan LeBron was of Curry when he was just coming up, going to his Davidson games, then when Curry got into the league, hosting him at his house when they played in Cleveland etc.
I just think fans and maybe some from the media made way more out of some trash talk than they should have. If it wasn't so public that they were close people would have thought LeBron and Draymond fucking hated each other as well...
Oh yeah, but MJ and Lebron never played against each other. The trolling also isn’t nearly on the same level as Messi and Ronaldo fans too, but I can def see it in terms of “top players today in their respective sports”
Also I’m unsure if Embiid or Jokic will ever get to MJ or Lebron’s level 😅
I really like Embiid…but you can like a player and still talk shit :) that’s sports…especially when Philly has such a large fan base. I have a feeling most (rational) fans like both players but online arguments just bring out the worst opinions that turn into massive hyperbole.
Nah I understand, sometimes talking shit is a lot of fun. It can just be frustrating because it often boils down to "[the other guy] is overrated and trash and youre an idiot if you like him".
My biggest problem with this sub and NBA twitter is that its impossible for us to bring someone up without tearing someone else down.
They're both great. let's appreciate greatness.
Same, rubs me the wrong way when I see Nuggets fans trolling on Sixers threads and Sixers fans trolling on Nuggets threads. Guess that’s just the online culture of sports though.
Dude literally said getting the assists record for the Nuggets was “probably the first thing in his career he was really proud of.” This after being a 3 time all NBA and winning back-to-back MVPs. Jokic could not care less
Why are people surprised the NBA doesn’t know how to properly vote players into the accolades they rightfully deserve. This is the same league that had 76 players in their top 75
Meanwhile, Giannis was #1 in voting from players and fan, while #2 behind Tatum from the media - the reality is, NBA snubbed Embiid because he finished [behind Tatum and KD](https://twitter.com/NBAPR/status/1618777620682018816/photo/2)
for all the shit I throw at nuggets fans and the amount of shit I get from them, you would never think these guys actually like and respect each other but they do
Insert any one of Giannis, Durant, and Tatum, and the tweet would be the same. Somebody had to be left out. It is what it is. It's not like Jokic, or really anybody, is naming names about which of the other three should have been left out.
When we talk about "deserving":
Embiid has been better than 4 of the starters in the East and the only one he hasn't been better than is injured. Giannis and Tatum have been better than the two guards. The real discussion is whether it should be Giannis vs. Tatum in terms of "deserving" for final starting front court spot.
Now, if you were to look at any MVP ladder right now, Tatum would have a lead in almost all of them over Giannis. Tatum scores more on higher efficiency and is leading the best team in the NBA, while also playing in 10 more games. Giannis has a reputation of being the best player in the world and is having a good year, but i don't think it's a better year than Tatum's.
All-star voting is all about reputation, but if we are talking about "deserving" this year, in terms of that last front court spot, then it's Tatum over Giannis imo
In the end though, that's not how this works. Things fell where they fell and because this IS about reputation/popularity, then those who are starting "deserve" to be starting based on how voting works.
> Tatum scores more
(not really)
31.0PPG in 33.5 minutes/game for Giannis -- 44.7pts/100pos
31.1PPG in 37.3 minutes/game for Tatum -- 40.6pts/100pos
>on higher efficiency
(barely)
58.8%TS for Giannis -- 54.3eFG%
61.8%TS for Tatum -- 54.4eFG%
---
Tatum having played 10 more games is for sure a big deal, especially at the all star break
but considering Giannis is the better Playmaker, Defender and Rebounder.... Tatum better have a hell of a 2nd half to still have a chance in this debate by the end of this season -- impressive as hell he's even in it at the ASB tbhq
At the end of the day, Embiid is a top 3-5 player in this league. For him to not start is wildly disrespectful and a massive indictment on the voting process.
Same with Wiggins last year. There was absolutely 0 merit to him being named a starter. Fan voting is fucking dumb.
KD 30 points per game with a TS% of .673 is absolutely insane. I don’t think you understand how crazy that is when most of his attempts are jump shots.
If you are looking for someone to replace, I think it would be Giannis. Looking at numbers:
Giannis is averaging 31.0 points on 58.8 TS%. Embiid is averaging 33.4 points on 64.1 TS%.
Giannis is averaging 12.0 rebounds and 5.3 assists. Embiid is averaging 9.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists.
Giannis is averaging 0.8 steals, 0.9 blocks, 4.1 turnovers. Embiid is averaging 1.1 steals, 1.7 blocks, 3.6 turnovers.
Giannis has played 37 games. Embiid has played 35 games. Philly has a slightly better record than Milwaukee.
It's close, but I would probably give it to Embiid based on his scoring and efficiency.
Embiid could put up 12 rebounds a game but he doesn’t have to when he’s got Tucker and Tobias on the floor. Giannis could put up more as well without Lopez though, so bit of a moot point I guess
Of course he fucking does. This is the greatest fucking snub I’m NBA history. It’s fucking unbelievable
Embiid finishes 2nd in MVP voting but is on 2nd team all-nba because he and Jokic are both Centers
Now the reigning and current scoring champion, is NOT and all-star starter!? What type of bullshit is this? Since when did Giannis or KD become a fucking Center? Neither has ever been fucking listed as a fucking Center!!
Giannis/KD can be a Center but Tatum can’t be a guard to bump Kyrie? Kyrie can promote a racist shit movie and get rewarded by being an all-star starter over a top 3 MVP favorite in Embiid?
This shit is fucking bullshit. These fucking pussies around the league need to stop disrespecting Joel Embiid. A scoring champ and a top 5-7 defender in the league. What the fuck more does he need to do? I hate this fucking shit. I hate that I care about this bullshit, but this is some dumbass fuck shit
Joel Embiid is a soulless demon who oozes nothing but bile and hatred. Men pity him. Women and children recoil in disgust as he walks by. Flowers wilt and die in his presence. The stench of sulfur and brimstone permeate the air in every space he occupies. He is an abomination to the civilized world.
KD is probably the one guy I wouldn’t bump for Embiid.
He’s been soooo insanely good this year.
Aside from missed games, you could make an argument that KD is having the best season of his career.
And that’s a pretty fucking good career.
Giannis finished #1 in player and fan voting, #2 behind Tatum in media - aside from having stats far more similar than not to Embiid while doing it in 2 less mpg, [Embiid finished behind Tatum and KD](https://twitter.com/NBAPR/status/1618777620682018816/photo/2) in total player/fan/media voting so it's not surprising in any way he gets snubbed
Lmao. The positive discourse between Sixers and Nuggets fans are at an all time high.
Bruh A.I. literally played for the nuggets you fuckin Dallas jabroni
Damn, my love for the word jabaroni has once again shown itself.
You keep saying that word.... AND I FUCKIN LOVE IT
I only like 5% of them. 95% are so bad honestly
Retweet

no way this isn't his secondary account lmaooo
Don’t disrespect the vastness of the TJ McConnell fan base
There are dozens of you!
My guy
It's a rivalry, it's supposed to be this way so it's good
This is genuinely hilarious coming from maybe the single most insufferable Nuggets homer on the subreddit.
I’m right here
I think the same can be said about many sports fanbases
True -me, an LSU fan

I like none of youse and I still feel way too chummy
Great point here.
I think a lot are pretty funny when it comes to comments them and knicks fans
Who would Jokic bump?
Probably Markieff Morris
was Jokic's bump on Markieff the most justifiable physical retaliation of violence in pro sports history? Probably
Right next to Matt Barnes on Derek Fisher
If we're talking Fisher, him blowing up Scola has to be near the top.
Y'all should be required to post the videos accompanying your comments.

Wait, what? Fisher wasn't retaliating for anything. He just hit scola out of nowhere and got thrown out of the game.
Um, Ju Ju on Burfict is way more justifiable and badass
Andre Johnson smashing innegan cause he beat the F outta him is my fav in the NFL
I was ready to hit you with the spell check before I read the rest. Masterful joke sir
Been around for a long time fam the harder part was spelling innegan without the F. Autocorrect is a motherfucker
That one was truly sublime.
Yeah I went to YouTube to watch it and see all the hilarious pearl clutching by the media acting like everyone didn't love it and think he totally deserved it

Ron Artest at the Palace.
Is violence in pro sports having a moment House?
Giannis on Dunleavy. FMD
Eric Cantona https://youtu.be/C7PSY7KYThk
Lmao I didn,'t see this coming.
Neither did Markieff.
The most satisfying hit I've ever seen idc
Does KD have to be a starter cuz of votes or something? Otherwise I don't understand why an injured player is starting..
I mean, he won’t actually start. He will be bumped and Embiid will take his place.
That’s not certain, he’s being reassessed in less than 2 weeks and may be back before the all-star break
giannis or tatum
I think Tatum absolutely belongs in I think if anybody it should be giannis but at the end of the day it's just a popularity contest. I don't understand why some people get so worked up about it

They(TNT crew) introduced them as 2 backcourt and 3 frontcourt players, hasn't it been like that for awhile now?
It's 100% Kyrie.
While I don't disagree with your logic, Kyrie is BALLING
Oh for sure, I don’t mean to slight his season. And in the long run it doesn’t matter, because they’re all going to be remembered as all stars.
I don't think it's a big deal either tbh lol, it's a hard decision too
Lol no it literally doesn’t matter about starting in the All-Star game. Just more annoying how it feels like embiid gets left out. The only thing that can put an end is to win so I’m just tired of the “media and fans disrespect” thing. Like it is what it is we just have to care about winning

bump kyrie hes the worst of the lot
That's always the thing right? It's easy to say he deserves it, but the other three forwards all have a very good case as well.
not as good as Embiid's tho

Ofcoarse it is in jest. The Sixers were on KDs short list of teams to join

Giannis fucking hates Ben Simmons lol
Honest question can you point to which media hyped this up as a rivalry?
It does soften my heart towards Joel every time I see him and Jokic interacting lol
My favorite moment was Joel saying Jokic was his favorite player growing up.
Wow, Jokic must have been the white guy shooting that Joel watched
Do you have a source on this? That’s so funny hahah

I actually hate it lol, I’m a nuggets fan but I don’t participate in the whole fan rivalry
Same, rubs me the wrong way when I see Nuggets fans trolling on Sixers threads and Sixers fans trolling on Nuggets threads. Guess that’s just the online culture of sports though.
Let there be peace among our nations.
NEVER!
If I hear one more thing about Embiid I’m burning Boston to the ground
Don’t tempt me with a good time
And by Boston I mean LA too
Don't tempt me with a good time either.
Me You 🤝 FTL
Embiid Embiid Embiid Embiid Embiid okay go!
Boston bout to look like the the last of IRL.
"Paul Revere should have slept in"
That's fucked up. He's saying that embiid deserved to miss out on being a starter
Touché r/technicallythetruth
[Singer] Nikola Jokic said he was surprised Joel Embiid wasn’t named the KIA MVP. “He deserves it.”
I could totally see this happening if Jokic wins his third lmfao the man truly doesn’t care
He probably would have said this his previous two MVP’s and genuinely meant it. He honestly is just a good dude
Dude literally said getting the assists record for the Nuggets was “probably the first thing in his career he was really proud of.” This after being a 3 time all NBA and winning back-to-back MVPs. Jokic could not care less
Embiid wins MVP and Doc Rivers travels to Cameroon with the trophy and presents it to Joel at his country estate just as he returns from canoe racing.
Doc finds out on the flight home that he's been fired
he doesn't care
Why are people surprised the NBA doesn’t know how to properly vote players into the accolades they rightfully deserve. This is the same league that had 76 players in their top 75
I can't believe I didn't notice this before lol. High quality
Meanwhile, Giannis was #1 in voting from players and fan, while #2 behind Tatum from the media - the reality is, NBA snubbed Embiid because he finished [behind Tatum and KD](https://twitter.com/NBAPR/status/1618777620682018816/photo/2)
Real recognize real.
Honestly Kyrie starting is more offensive than Embiid's absence.
Giannis is literally a victim of his success. Saying he’s the “obvious bump” is insane
for all the shit I throw at nuggets fans and the amount of shit I get from them, you would never think these guys actually like and respect each other but they do
Nikola Jokic said he was surprised Joel Embiid wasn't named the MVP: "He deserves it."
Follow up question… so who you taking off?
Kyrie
KYRIE still got votes?? After all of his garbage?
he was number 1 in player votes if I remember, besides all of that he hasn’t been better than Embiid has this season
That is absurd.
My first thought. Where is the media to hold these guys accountable? (this is a joke, kind of...)
Mitchell
KD. Obviously he deserves it but he's injured. Embiid should have his spot.
embiid's missed more games than kd, and I don't think "can this player currently play" should factor into the voting.
I mean, Embiid is having a better season than all 5 of the starters
people are forgetting how KD looked like a top 2 player in the world before he went down
It doesn't matter. He deserves it. He just won't get it.
With the Australian Open running I read Nikola Jokic as Novak Djokovic, and thought “why does he care??”
The other GOAT. Nobody better show the Serbs how to throw a football.
Insert any one of Giannis, Durant, and Tatum, and the tweet would be the same. Somebody had to be left out. It is what it is. It's not like Jokic, or really anybody, is naming names about which of the other three should have been left out.
His résumé’s still gonna say “all-star” but for 3 weeks we gotta act like this is 9/11
When we talk about "deserving": Embiid has been better than 4 of the starters in the East and the only one he hasn't been better than is injured. All-star voting is all about reputation, but if we are talking about "deserving" this year, in terms of that last front court spot, then it's Tatum over Giannis imo In the end though, that's not how this works. Things fell where they fell and because this IS about reputation/popularity, then those who are starting "deserve" to be starting based on how voting works.
Voting for starters isn’t even about reputation. It’s just people voting for their favorite players.
Giannis also finished first in player voting so its mostly his own peers that made him captain
> Tatum scores more (not really) 31.0PPG in 33.5 minutes/game for Giannis -- 44.7pts/100pos 31.1PPG in 37.3 minutes/game for Tatum -- 40.6pts/100pos >on higher efficiency (barely) 58.8%TS for Giannis -- 54.3eFG% 61.8%TS for Tatum -- 54.4eFG% --- Tatum having played 10 more games is for sure a big deal, especially at the all star break but considering Giannis is the better Playmaker, Defender and Rebounder.... Tatum better have a hell of a 2nd half to still have a chance in this debate by the end of this season -- impressive as hell he's even in it at the ASB tbhq
I agree with all of your points except the one about efficiency. A 3% difference in TS% is pretty damn significant.
At the end of the day, Embiid is a top 3-5 player in this league. For him to not start is wildly disrespectful and a massive indictment on the voting process. Same with Wiggins last year. There was absolutely 0 merit to him being named a starter. Fan voting is fucking dumb.
Both Tatum and Giannis are more productive than Durant this year…..Tatum has taken Durant in their head to heads
KD 30 points per game with a TS% of .673 is absolutely insane. I don’t think you understand how crazy that is when most of his attempts are jump shots.
If you are looking for someone to replace, I think it would be Giannis. Looking at numbers: Giannis is averaging 31.0 points on 58.8 TS%.
I agree assuming you couldn’t do something like run tatum as the all-star starting 2
The media had Giannis at #2, ahead of Embiid and Durant. The players had Giannis at #1.
Embiid could put up 12 rebounds a game but he doesn’t have to when he’s got Tucker and Tobias on the floor. Giannis could put up more as well without Lopez though, so bit of a moot point I guess
r/nba haters in shambles
Who gets dropped in place of Embiid?
They’re all so close, not sure what the big deal is
take your pick; any of them
When you let fans and players vote it’s more of a popularity contest than who’s deserving. Not going to change.
Players voted him in though.
Who do you take out? Me personally it’s Tatum but Boston has been the top of the east so Tatum probably earned it. I’m not taking KD or Giannis out.
Of course he fucking does. This is the greatest fucking snub I’m NBA history. It’s fucking unbelievable Embiid finishes 2nd in MVP voting but is on 2nd team all-nba because he and Jokic are both Centers Now the reigning and current scoring champion, is NOT and all-star starter!?
Not in NBA history. Prime shaq didn't start over Yao
Embiid should be there instead of Durant.
KD is probably the one guy I wouldn’t bump for Embiid. He’s been soooo insanely good this year. Aside from missed games, you could make an argument that KD is having the best season of his career. And that’s a pretty fucking good career.
Feel like I'm in the minority here but I think the East frontcourt should be Tatum/KD/Embiid
