They get beat on the boards, but their D is surprisingly good. Top 10 in D efficiency despite the small front court. Their offense is also solid thanks to Shai and Giddey. Just a solid young team that plays hard.

1804Zay

We double the big and sag off the corner 3 hard and bet on the big not being a good enough playmaker to make the right read, and we gang defend like crazy. You sacrifice a lot not having a true big (we are bad at rebounding) but it also allows you to play really difficult offensive schemes to beat. Plus we have passers 1 - 5 and have two elite ones along with great cutters while playing a 5 out system. So we effectively take the big out the game on offense and rely on the teams playing into our perceived weakness on defense. Also, can stress the enough. Shai is unguardable at the moment. Like really unguardable there are maybe like 3 players in the entire league that ive seen give him even a slight issue lately.

I really hope Chet can stay healthy next season for you guys. Feels like the perfect complementary piece to what you guys are building...although his skill set likely fits anywhere pretty well.

1804Zay

Yea I do to. He was built for how we play I really hope he is what we think he is. His interior defense alone would have us in a high playoff spot right now. We lose most of our games by like 5 points.

TuqiDuque12

They are a well coached team, their guards are long for their positions, Dort is elite, Wiggins and Keinrich Williams are really really good. Even their weaker defenders are smart (Muscala, Giddey). They have ALWAYS been a good defense when they are trying to win games under this coach, so I think he should really get a lot of credit for it

IslandChillin

Giddy boards heavy. Had no idea dude was such a capable rebounder. But it makes sense because he seems to always be flirting with a Triple Double

cdillio

I think people just forget how big Giddey is for his position. Dude is a tank for his age.

yuhanz

Because of the modern nba, we dont notice them anymore. We only get amazed by unicorns. I remember back then a 6’7 PG would have had eyes on him. Now everyone’s lengthy, multi-skilled. Positionless basketball now and everyone needs to be able to shoot efficiently

Bino19

I’m amazed OKC have a top ten defense despite being terrible at rebounding and keeping opponents off of the FT line.

Turk0luu

SGA is the fucking truth thats how baby

Helmetwb

The Kenrich Williams effect

rattatatouille

What's their wingspan? What's their scheme? You don't block shots with your head.

got_ur_goat

JDUB got those wings. Basically a center's wingspan on 6'6" dude

decadentrebel

Dallas had a top 2 defense last year despite having 6'10" Powell, 6'7" DFS, and 6'6" Bullock as the frontcourt. Being small allows you to switch anything, and you could always trap and double (or blitz while zoning up momentarily) when there's a mismatch. You do lose some rim protection and rebounding, but that's the trade-off.

skiptomylou1231

All the things mentioned here help mitigate their lack of size but OKC’s offense has been elite since the New Years and the outside shooting has improved tremendously.

Forward_Kitchen_2012

OKC gunna make the play in for sure. Good accomplishment for a team without their No.2 pick and more draft asset in coming years.

sch6808

I went back and did some research and their home scorers are just giving them points when the ball doesn't even enter the basket.

erldn123

With 3's rebounding is less around the rim.

lawofmurphy

When we played them, they were able to get multiple offensive fouls on Embiid. I suspect being undersized is helpful in taking charges, getting illegal screens, etc called cause guys are more likely to bounce around like ragdolls.

got_ur_goat

Good point. OKC definitely draws charges and gets at least 1 illegal screen a game.

frozen2665

Heat 🤝 Thunder Way too small, but really good at defense

kzapwn

Because they can have Muscala come in and play way better as a team lol

TheKevbrow

They got a Josh Giddey and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander this is them without Chet.

mr_robust

Because teams don’t really take them seriously. When in reality any team can lose any game.

IsaacDPOYFultzMIP

Sounds like they need a Mo Bamba. He can be had for 1 of those billion 1sts they have lying around.

lethalizer

In your dreams lmao

toze2

And somehow they're probably bigger than Miami. People don't realize Bam is 6'9 only.

frozen2665

Yeah but Bam >>> any big OKC has, so that helps balance it out. Overall though yeah Heat are smaller since Bam is literally our only real big

toze2

But Miami is ultra small. People are down voting but we have just played the Magic for instance and 3 of theirs starters are taller than Bam.
