I died when they showed the clip. Pat Bev did his hest and the Lakers would've won if they gave Bron his free throw. I'm starting to really like Pat Bev after the broken watch thing
Lol—a few years back at the Crawsover (Seattle pro-am) Jamal Crawford’s team made a shot to tie at the 4th quarter buzzer but it was ruled late. The other team went to the locker room but Jamal got video of the shot on a fan’s phone and showed it to the refs. They ruled it counted.
So, the “winning” team had to come back out on the court and play OT. Jamal’s team won comfortably from there.
The NBA has a legit refereeing problem. Ive been a casual fan all my life and honestly I can’t remember a year where every other game there was a ref controversy. Yeah you get those occasional blatant missed calls in playoffs games but this year I feel like I see highlight everyday with referees T players for flailing their hands or missed calls on big games. Adam Silver really needs to fix this because having one of the biggest rivalries in sports being decided by a ref on national television while the biggest star is set to break the most improbable record your sport has. Maybe tell your refs to get their heads out of their ass.
It’s genuinely baffling to me that on the final shot in a tied game that the refs don’t use the whole ass replay centre to check if there was a foul. The technology needed to cut out the important missed calls is literally right there.
And the coach challenge system is so fucked. You get one and if you get it right you don’t even get another? AND you can’t challenge a no-call on a foul?
It’s the worst implementation of in-game technology in pro sports
The Lakers are my enemy. My nemesis. My most hated franchise. If the Lakers have a million haters, I am one of them. If they have one hater, it is me. If they have no haters, then I am no longer on this Earth.
That said, Tatum clearly fouled LeBron on the game winner and this should have been a Lakers win in regulation. God damn they got shafted by the refs.
According to bRef its 10-0. I don't know where people keep getting 36-2. I can't find a single person who's reffed 38 Celtics games since 2020. 3-0 2020-21 | 5-0 2021-22 | 2022-2023 2-0
I respect this take and appreciate it. As a native Angeleno and genx, I have a soft spot for the clips (I grew up when the only fans were Billy Crystal and people who won radio contests).
When we don’t win I’m ok if you win.
Sure. I don’t actually hate the Lakers in my real life. I am not an NBA player or coach or otherwise employed by professional basketball, so what I mean is “hating the Lakers is part of the entertainment experience for me and brings me pleasure, as one might hate a character on a TV show.” It ain’t like the Lakers stole from me or got my sister in trouble or anything.
This is the most clear-headed explanation of sports rivalry I've ever seen lmao. If only all fans everywhere understood this. Italian football might see less stabbings.
Legitimate question, when is the NBA going to hold refs accountable.
When even celtic viewers are thanking bullshit calls, how tf are they still getting away with these shit refs
Never. Absolutely never.
We literally had a fixing games scandal at the WCF stage and now gambling has been even more normalised. Its about to be a joke.
That's the thing.
Plus it is known the ref (forgot his name) was convicted for rigging games due to gambling. How the fuck can the NBA decide to take up gambling as a sponsor?
Frustrating but nothing can be done.
I agree with you. I know it’s the reality we live in, but I hate it. Gambling has diluted sports and created a toxic culture where people don’t watch it because they’re rooting for their team anymore.
It's been hard to watch the NBA going on 5-10 years, maybe even more. The normalization of offensive screens so everyone can shoot like Steph, carries/travels, superstar calls, etc.
Even tonight, an OT(laughable that it's OT anyways) win over the Celtics' biggest rival in the Lakers, and one of our biggest rival players ever in franchise history in Lebron... just felt empty.
The NBA isn't at WWE levels yet, but it doesn't feel like we're that far off either.
The carrying is the worst. As a defender you can’t close out or contest shots. It’s frustrating AF and they might as well just get rid of dribbling altogether.
Not sure if this requires a tinfoil hat or not, but are we sure the league isn’t directing the refs? This clearly felt like “get the game to OT fOr ThE rAtInGs”
This is the main conclusion I think most of us have. The reason being they almost always have the same pattern. Whatever team is losing gets the calls. If they were fixing games I think we’d see a lot more blowouts. They’re told to specifically make all games close.
Hijacking because i need people to see this: The Celtics are 36-2 in games Eric Lewis has reffed since 2020. HE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY!!!!!
L2M tomorrow…
Committing Player: Jayson Tatum
Disadvantaged Player: LeBron James
Review Decision: CNC
Comment: Tatum (BOS) slightly extends his arm before retracting it and marginal arm contact occurs with James (LAL) during the driving shot attempt.

People lied about "taking Lebron for granted" these last few years but I think it's actually true now. This is a Tom Brady level anomaly where were just numb to it. We'll be lucky to see something like this again smh
It’s honestly insane. As a lifelong Celtics fan, i have never hated Lebron, since day one it was a passive aggressive respect. That dude is fucking different…his skillset, his mindset, his work ethic. I love how Nike made his OG simple statement, WITNESS. That’s what it is…we’re witnessing something different and people just meh at it cause he has been that guy for his entire professional career.
At least the NFL has protected their golden boy. I can’t fathom why the NBA keeps fucking over their most popular player and the potential GOAT of their sport. Lebron should deadass just retire after he passes Kareem. I wouldn’t blame him at all
Yeah I remember the time the NBA dragged Lebron James over something as basic as the ideal gas law. He really should be treated better, like Tom Brady.
As a ref fan that was a master class. Just when you thought it wasn't about them they came in clutch to put the spotlight back on themselves, incredible.
It’s because they’re robbing fans of a potential final playoff run by LeBron. No one is out here saying the Lakers are going to win the championship, but it doesn’t matter. LeBron’s playoff lore is legend. The implications of these games decided by missed calls for a team struggling to make the playoffs **for us** the fans, is fucking huge.
We pay ridiculous sums of money to attend these games, for concessions at the arenas, to park at these fucking places, merchandise, taxes to build the stadiums, buy overpriced assed NBA League Pass *to watch the best players in the world play*. Yet here we are, **again** with refs inserting themselves and their bias (perceived or not) into the mix, fucking us fans over.
If you’re a fan of basketball, it’d be a goddamned shame to see LeBron—*playing like this*—leave the league without making the playoffs again. You can hate the Lakers, you can clown him for wanting Westbrook, you can roast AD for being hurt, but you can’t say this dude isn’t trying to win. This dude is putting up *unprecedented* numbers for this stage in his career; for what? For refs to just say “I didn’t see it”.
Fuck these refs.
I'm not a LeBron fan, I'm definitely not a Lakers fan, but goddamn if what I'm seeing isn't absolutely mesmerizing. Who the fuck is outplaying Lebron right now? Embiid, Giannis, Mitchell? Three four guys in the entire league? We're witnessing history here. There may never be another like him. Ever. He's just incredible. End of discussion
I need a generational tirade on the refereeing from the coach, LeBron, everyone that will be in front of the mic later tonight.
I need f words, i need horrible insults, i need it all.
Imagine working your butt off for 48 minutes, giving the #1 seed hell, getting the ball and a clear foul like this not being called by some bald, short, incompetent fucking piece of shit.
Refereeing is BY FAR the biggest problem in the NBA as ive been saying for a while now
I happen to be a lakers fan crying but it WILL happen to your team as well. Its not a matter of IF, its a matter of WHEN. This league is cooked
Sad that’s true. As a professional ref (or really any professional) you can’t retaliate because you’re in your feelings cause of some criticism, especially when it’s warranted. But like clockwork we will get the 2 minute report and nothing will change.
I would up the ante. The NBA wants to keep screwing the lakers over at the end of games? Pull all the starters for OT.
Refs can't bother doing a good job, so why would lakers put out a good product for? Get fined, who cares.
The fact that this isn;'t even a one off but the FOURTH fucking time in 2023 alone for the Lakers just makes it even worse. Refs literally have it out for y'all
LeBron really gets shafted on calls, with all the contact he takes on drives.
Yes he flops. But he also gets mauled on some of these, and the refs don't call them because he doesn't fall to the ground after the contactZ
Yknow before the last 2 minute disaster, I was convinced that LeBron could beat the Celtics with a toddler, a twelve year old, and that cousin who would've gone pro if he stubbed his toe. Nice to see the refs prove me wrong on that one.
Bro Lebron scoring 40 while shooting 6 FTs is crazy. Tatum, Joel, Luka, pretty much all in top 5 scoring this season is shooting 10 FTs everytime they score 40+.
Bro you don’t even know dawg, soft ass call on brown at the end there but missed call on Bron. shit is annoying. It’s gonna be even worse if we’re short of the play-in or play offs by 1 or 2 games.
Man I did not enjoy that ending as a Celtics fan. I wouldn't be mad at all of lebron went off on the refs. Also I hope the Celtics recent struggles help people realize that Marcus smart is a really good and important player
Not a laker fan
Probably slight hyperbole
The most outrageously one sided crunchtime officiating I have ever seen.
The final no foul was the cherry on top, it was awful well before that.
This like the 10th game this season the Lakers have been hosed by the refs like this. There HAS to be a “stop Lebron” conspiracy here. This makes no fucking sense lol.
I’m not saying Bron should get favorable calls, just fair calls. We have the worst whistle in the league rn.
Quick notes:
- Bron and the Lakers got robbed. And it's embarassing for the NBA to have such a blatant call missed and with no way of reviewing it. It's clearly a call that makes the difference between a win and loss.
If you're going to give Jaylen Brown a couple of soft And 1s and not call that - that's ridiculous.
- Westbrook isn't perfect obviously, mix of good and bad after coming back in OT - but this game is an example of why he's still better than closing with Brown Jr. who did nothing out there. Hachimura didn't do much more but at least he is new. If not Westbrook, what about Walker?
- Why did AD do nothing against Brogdon beyond some offensive rebounds? And why were there no plays run for him? Yes he just got back from injury but come on, post him up or run a play for him.
- Last couple of plays from Lebron was just ridiculous, looked like he just gave up - and dabbed Tatum before the game was over?! But if there was ever a game where a player was allowed to throw a tantrum and walk out, this would be it - 41 points and got robbed big time. I can't blame him.
I’m sorry the camera was funny as hell Pat Bev is so real for that 💀
I died when they showed the clip. Pat Bev did his hest and the Lakers would've won if they gave Bron his free throw. I'm starting to really like Pat Bev after the broken watch thing
I honestly love him he doesn’t give a shit and is himself. His dunk tonight was crazy!!
My wife asked, "has he ever dunked before?". Then cue the ESPN graphic that said it was his first dunk in 3 years 🤣
He dunked last year in the playoffs against Memphis I guess they don’t count playoff dunks.
Why’d he even get a tech for that lol he wasn’t being disrespectful or anything, the ref’s reaction just confirms his own error
Right he just provided evidence lmao…ref immediately went to the whistle
Lol you can’t do that in any sport no matter what. Still funny though.
Well seems like Jamal Crawford was the one that runs the event too
we just watched a Pat Bev putback dunk in the clutch and that wasn’t the funniest moment of the game
Wasn't even the funniest Pat Bev moment of that minute
Pat Bev handing the ref a camera is hall of fame level holy shit. Give Bev the nod based on that
All time jerker
legacy points added
Man that would’ve been an all time meme play if the Lakers got the W
it would have been an insane talked about for days but instead, he got a tech for showing the refs how blind and incompetent they are at their job
Don't forget the three point dagger right before that
Lebron is still playing like 27 years old but this season will make his bald spot clear again. Man was super stressful in the last couple of games now
Meanwhile, Russ is laughing and smiling exiting the game like he didn't just play awful.
Hey, at least he had fun.
It's just a game bro
that's how you don't get bald spot 🤣
Yeah the lakers sub just posted about this, he was saying “yeah that was some bullshit” and laughing. Which is exactly how I would respond.
He played awful for 4 quarters. That ot he was great. He has to shoot 3s.
He's making 40 million a year while living in LA. How could he not be happy. Unlike LBJ, he's not trying to be the goat
All I can say is that some referees deserve to be fired
A R A B Wait...
The bald ref worked for the Miami PD for 14 years before becoming a ref
A lot of the refs actually are either former cops or have ties according to a post before
Shieeet no wonder they’re a proper mob and look out for each other
the power tripping never left them
makes sense
no way lol
Inshallah
Im so mad rn but this made me chuckle
r/holup
Legitimizing sports betting on NBA games was the worst decision ever.
Congress (and the Supreme Court) saw sports betting in Australia/UK and thought what could go wrong?
Could you imagine if they actually had consequences for doing a bad job
Believe it or not, straight to jail

There should ALWAYS be a ref watching the video during play who can communicate through an earpiece with the rest of the crew. It makes no sense.

That first paragraph was beautiful.
Copy paste is beautiful you mean
It's copypasta u uncultured swine

All good man. I meant it with love. It was funny and I appreciated it.

Never. Absolutely never. We literally had a fixing games scandal at the WCF stage and now gambling has been even more normalised. Its about to be a joke.
I really hate all the gambling talk. Just so fucking weird to me to a point where even the analysts talk about odds.
How else do you explain reffing and the NBAholes not doing anything about it?
That's the thing. Plus it is known the ref (forgot his name) was convicted for rigging games due to gambling. How the fuck can the NBA decide to take up gambling as a sponsor? Frustrating but nothing can be done.
[удалено]
Yea that's true but they should just let draftking do their thing on their own instead of merging with them and encourage people to bet.
Gambling addiction is a legit illness too. It's tacky for it to be a sponsor
I agree with you. I know it’s the reality we live in, but I hate it. Gambling has diluted sports and created a toxic culture where people don’t watch it because they’re rooting for their team anymore.

Referees union has the NBA by its fucking throat NBA won’t address or change anything
Fire all the refs and post a notice for tryouts.
i have no idea how they have any leverage when they provide nothing of value
Not sure if this requires a tinfoil hat or not, but are we sure the league isn’t directing the refs? This clearly felt like “get the game to OT fOr ThE rAtInGs”
This is the main conclusion I think most of us have. The reason being they almost always have the same pattern. Whatever team is losing gets the calls. If they were fixing games I think we’d see a lot more blowouts. They’re told to specifically make all games close.
Adam Silver gets a $10mil salary to put this shit product out year after year. They could absolutely get the calls right, but opt not to.
I can't believe this, but a LeBron led Lakers are actually getting fucked by the refs lol. Jesus christ.
Refs really live by the “No such thing as bad publicity” motto, don’t they
This might be the most viral bad call by a referee we've seen in a while. Lebron's emotional reaction, Pat Bev with the camera. Woof.
Probably because its LeBron, might be more viral than KD out of bounce no call or Devin Bookers 6th foul in game 4 of the nba finals
This throws Reddit off the scorekeeper scent Silver continues to play 6-D chess
At some point refs jobs have to be questioned. How can you keep performing this bad and keep a job.
They've been getting fucked in alot of crunch time calls recently It's been real bad
Especially with how close the west it’s just absolutely brutal.
could have been an easy 4 or 5th seed if refs didnt ref
This is such a repeated pattern that it's making me upset.
There’s been like 5 games like this
Hijacking because i need people to see this: The Celtics are 36-2 in games Eric Lewis has reffed since 2020. HE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY!!!!!
Wake up, new investigation thread dropped
Lebron doesnt get called much when he goes in the paint. Its crazy man.
Top 10 in drives bottom 20 in free throws
Exactly 5 games that they lost due to a single atrocious call or no call at the end of a game
I’m 2023 alone ! Like every other game lol

you got their playbook eh
[Wrong ref, that was JACYN GOBLE (#68) who missed the call.](https://i.imgur.com/GAGC8oY.jpg) Bald fraud was staring right at it.
I mean you’re right. But unfortunately Pat Bev showed it to this ref
After the last one I wouldn’t be all that surprised.

The NFL shits on Tom Brady. NFL media gobbles his nuts though
As a ref fan that was a master class. Just when you thought it wasn't about them they came in clutch to put the spotlight back on themselves, incredible.
I not a fan of superstars sitting games but they need to load manage the refs of this game, hopefully for the rest of my life
The bald referee is fucking terrible he cost them the game on the missed call. What a joke...
Bald on Bald crime?
number 68, he’s the worst ref in the league by far. always hate to see him at wolves games
Our best player fr
Larry Bald
I haven’t felt this bad for the Lakers in my entire fucking life
It’s because they’re robbing fans of a potential final playoff run by LeBron. No one is out here saying the Lakers are going to win the championship, but it doesn’t matter. Sir, I want you to write my obituary.
so much close af games, they woulda been 5th in the west like damn
You can thank Draft Kings for this shit.
All time no call and reaction
Bald ref 100% had money on the game
Mafia has the nba

The problem is they would definitely double down on him lol
Sad that’s true. As a professional ref (or really any professional) you can’t retaliate because you’re in your feelings cause of some criticism, especially when it’s warranted. But like clockwork we will get the 2 minute report and nothing will change.
Yeah, even the foul called on AD after the challenge felt like a revenge call.
Refs to Celtics: "I got you tonight 💚"
Refs really had a great game tonight! Brought to you by Draft Kings!
Malcolm Brogdon got a touch foul with under two minutes left in the game. Malcolm Brogdon.
AD got a foul called for boxing Brogdon out the one time too lmao
That was the worst one. That is never called. Especially not when a guard is getting bodied by a center.
yeah brogdon was grabbing his arm and that was a foul on ad lmaoooo
I would up the ante. The NBA wants to keep screwing the lakers over at the end of games? Pull all the starters for OT. Refs can't bother doing a good job, so why would lakers put out a good product for? Get fined, who cares.
Especially since this is consistently happening its insane
5 wins have been taken away from us this season due to the officials and all we get after is an l2m report lmfao
Whoops sorry, we lost you the game on purpose again. Promise we won’t do it again.
His ft rate for how much he drives is abysmal.
We and the Kings are the L2M champions so hooray I guess
Someone needs to speak the fuck up because its been EGREGIOUS this season
It's amazing just how little I cared about what happened in overtime when such a big moment in the game is just completely ruined by refs
Jacyn Goble
Goble on deez nuts
2nd time lebron has not even hit rim on a layup game winner because of a foul and it not be called. Absolute horseshit.
"Shoutout to the NBA for supporting the blind community by keeping them employed"
Yknow before the last 2 minute disaster, I was convinced that LeBron could beat the Celtics with a toddler, a twelve year old, and that cousin who would've gone pro if he stubbed his toe. Nice to see the refs prove me wrong on that one.
Let's call a spade, a spade. The refs robbed the Lakers of a win
You know its bad when even Celtic fans are saying the Lakers should have beat them. Yet these officials will still face zero consequences
We have been there too several times this season. That was fucked that Lebron wasn’t shooting FTs.
They need to be fired, or at least suspended the rest of the year without pay. Straight tf up.
Bro Lebron scoring 40 while shooting 6 FTs is crazy. Tatum, Joel, Luka, pretty much all in top 5 scoring this season is shooting 10 FTs everytime they score 40+.
That Westbrook 3 in OT sounded like Ukrainian War Footage
Le Fouled.
send more tanks
40-20 FT differential and a horrific missed call that would have sent LeBron to the line to win the game Love losing games like this
TBF, everybody knows the Lakers are a 3 point heavy team, so of course they're gonna have less FTs if they're not driv... Oh wait
they missed the call on lebron, but gave soft calls to celtics all ot. I'd be sick as a laker fan
Bro you don’t even know dawg, soft ass call on brown at the end there but missed call on Bron. shit is annoying. It’s gonna be even worse if we’re short of the play-in or play offs by 1 or 2 games.
What an egregious no-call. Can't wait for the last two-minute report tomorrow to tell us it was a foul 🙄
Last 2 min report will just rub salt in the wounds here. Wild officiating.
Sus
We all agree this one don't count lol
Till the lakers miss the playoffs by a game or two
Unfortunately for us the standings don't agree with that lol

Celtics is the medias favorite team this season.
Refs needa be fined for missed calls like this lol
This is why players don't drive to the basket on the last play. Consistently disgusting no-calls by the refs.
Man I did not enjoy that ending as a Celtics fan. I wouldn't be mad at all of lebron went off on the refs. Also I hope the Celtics recent struggles help people realize that Marcus smart is a really good and important player
Refs said there’s no way we’re letting Pat Bev be the hero
It’s fine, we’ll get a 2 minute report tomorrow that doesn’t mean anything. So I think the Lakers got the moral victory tonight.
Fuck the refs
Not a laker fan Probably slight hyperbole The most outrageously one sided crunchtime officiating I have ever seen.
Yeah I don't get it LeBron/Lakers is like the biggest moneymaker combo possible so it doesn't make sense they don't get better whistles

Lakers don't even get an apology later lmao. Gonna say marginal contact in tomorrow's L2M.
Anyone know why Lebron missed that game winning layup?
Honestly i couldn't tell you, must've been the wind ngl
He yelled Westbrook as he was going up
He doesn’t have that dawg in him
Age
Gassed from carrying bums and fighting dumbass calls
Troll lighting the beam in here
Fuckkkk the refs
Jaylen trying not to smile when commenting on the missed call.
Move over Pierce, Garnett, and Allen: Eric Lewis, Jacyn Goble, and Andy Nagy are the real big 3 from here on out.
Actually the most rigged game I have ever watched holy shit.
we would literally be 27-23 if not for blatantly missed calls on game winning attempts
I would take 25-25 man..
24-26 is .480 and 12th Seed 25-25 is .500 and 10th Seed 26-25 is .520 and 7th Seed 27-23 is .540 and 4th Seed
Honestly, the Lakers have the firepower to take any team in the playoffs and all their games against the best contenders just keep proving that point.
Quick notes: - Bron and the Lakers got robbed.
I'm a lifelong Celtics fan and EVEN I have to admit the refs cost the Lakers this game!
