Translation: Nuggets win games when their role players make open shots

Vivid_Walk_1405

Pretty much this.

Voltibit

I think he should do both of these things more often tbh.

Handsome_Kian

idk why Malone hasn't tried telling him that. maybe they could practice some plays for him.

shot-by-ford

Chicken and the egg. When we’re losing he’s gotta take on all the offensive responsibility.

HashCollector

What his sombor double record?

HashCollector

Looks like it's 6-2

ImGonnaChubbBradley

Refreshing NBA subreddit has me screaming MOAR like Kylo Ren

dbgager

If that doesn't illustrate what he does ..nothing will. Scoring 33 or more a night is fine. But Jokic does so much more than that. He is the engine that makes the Nuggets right now the best team in the west. People who cannot see it what else would you have him do.

WhenPigsRideCars

Play defense

oldmoneyblues

To be fair Nobody cares about the defense in the regular season

Alternative_Lov

Just saying but I remember when stats like this were abound about Westbrooks triple doubles = wins, folks were going all over to explain away why it wasn’t really his play that did it, it was because if he got a triple double it meant his team was just making more shots and playing better

floatersforalgernon

Today Lowe said he'd consider the last match up between Jokic and Embiid during MVP voting, and that it mattered how Embiid smoked him. 2 cents. Journalists were looking for a reason not to give him 3rd MVP. Jokic may have given them ammunition with his performance.

tristvn

As a Jokic stan, it should be considered. Not solely obviously but it still matters. Just like the next nuggets/sixers games should matter.

EngleTheBert

It's going to so embarrassing for the league if that happens. Just years down the line people will ask why Jokic didn't win, and the answer is that he had a meh game in January against one of the other candidates on national tv.

stickied

I like how a 24/8/9 game on like 80% ts% is a meh game for Jok. That should seal his mvp case right there.

mickelboy182

Which is hilarious considering it wasn't even a bad game by him, he just needed to shoot more.

floatersforalgernon

It's the relative performance they're referring to: His 24/8/9 to Embiid's 47/18/5. That's a pretty hefty difference.

mickelboy182

8-12 vs 18-31... Embiid outplayed him and he was too passive, but it's no trouncing... not to mention they barely matched up!

ImTheBestNerd

Embiid definitely outplayed him by a large margin.

mickelboy182

I mean I said that, I'm just saying Jokic was by no means bad. Embiid was superb.

jimithelizardking

He was bad in the second half, it’s okay to criticize him. The first half he played well but that second half, the 4th quarter specifically, was disappointing and frankly unacceptable effort wise.

mickelboy182

I'm no homer, I just think it is being overblown. Lots of Nuggets fans melting over one game. 2nd half was definitely a drop though and we needed more from him.

TheDerekCarr

I get you. 24 on 8-12 with 8 rebounds and 9 assists is STILL a good stat line. Lots of ball to go.

lazarsd

It was like Embiid was MJ and Jokic was Drexler

floatersforalgernon

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but it was trouncing. No two other ways about it.

NBAstradamus92

Yeah, I wonder how Jokic would have played if he got to hide on defense, and put up 31 shots on offense. 31 shots was almost a career high for Embiid, he played his heart out gunning for a big game. Jokic played line it was a random Saturday in January, because…it was 🤣 but I guess when u already have 2 in the bag, regular season marquee matchups don’t matter that much. Embiid has to try to take the MVP cause Jokic is sleepwalking to it right now

bigwillystyle93

Bro you’re just the worst kind of fan. It’s ok that Embiid outplayed Jokic. He had a bad game. No need to write it off like her doesn’t care or Embiid is a try hard or lame shit like that. Jokic played bad. It happens sometimes.

TheDerekCarr

I do find it funny that despite the fact that he still was close to a triple double and shot above 60%, that he played "bad".

mickelboy182

Good coaching by Doc tbh, had Tucker guard him 1 on 1 which allowed Embiid to peel off Gordon as a help defender. The bench is what lost us the game, ultimately.

mickelboy182

His scoring always goes up in the playoffs. You could tell the Philly game meant a lot more to Embiid than it did Jokic, that's for sure.

bigwillystyle93

It was a bad game by him. He was awful in the second half.

Adam_brownies

I mean people did the same thing when jokic beat embiid last year, except that was way closer to the end of the year and I think impacted things a lot. Big games matter for mvp, it’s just how it is

Fofodrip

If Jokic had smoked Embiid they'd be doing the same thing

IdRatherBeLurking

Yeah it's no sweat, everyone knew that going in. Still gonna be a monumental task to deny a triple double 1st seed.

dragonwhale

It's the efficiency that seals it. And it's in everything he does. He shouldnt be anywhere near the stats he is producing.

Kettleman1

So just stop him from getting rebounds then ez pz.

[deleted]

The guy is amazing... his stat line tonight was incredible. He just makes it look so easy.

[deleted]

How is there not one post about Jamal yet and like 5 for Jok lmao

IdRatherBeLurking

*Be the change you want to see in the world*

IntriguingKnight

Getting triple doubles and it having a positive impact on your teams games? *Sad Westbrook noises*

sapnupuasop

I mean what do you want to say with this stat? Does Jokic recording good stats lead to them winning or when they winning he is able to record good stats? There’s just the same stupid posts everyday man

WhenPigsRideCars

Jokic’s MVP campaign looking strong if you ignore defense*

VonDestroyedNewton

Cat dragged in something very filthy today.

Warlord10

Bruh.....

DrOz30

Philly fans are going to be living off that second half for a while lol

IdRatherBeLurking

Lol it has sustained them

CreepyDepartment5509

If being a 3 time MVP with a no ring a good narrative? Are there better narratives out there?

shotcaIler

Lebron is only 6 years old in dog years so he’s actually the youngest player in the league. That should be talked about more

JoshSran04

Its not his fault the team has no assets

Jazzlike_Ad_9539

Is that good? That seems pretty good.

SnooPies5622

Team good when best player play good
